It is said that on each grain the name of its beneficiary is engraved. 

Something similar happened in the village of Vajapur in Banaskantha District.  We planted 6000 saplings in Vaijapur with the financial help of Shri K R Shroff Foundation. In 2 months the saplings planted will be one year old. On our way to Vaav, Samlibet we passed through Vajapur. Our associate Naranbhai called up the senior of Vajapur village Shri Motibhai to inform him that we will soon reach the plantation site in the crematorium and he should reach there. Motibhai said that there is a prayer going on at Shri Hirabhai's house in the Village and all seniors of the village are there. He requested us to come there to meet all and share "prasad".  

We reached Hirabhai's house. We had thought we would talk about Tree plantation. Hirabhai is fully aware of VSSM activities. He received us all with a shawl and we also had lunch there.

Hirabhai understands the importance of tree plantation. One of his relatives explained that Hirabhai is so concerned about trees that he does not allow the boundary made through barbed wires. Even the smallest of life which survives on trees will be affected if we put barbed wire. They decided not to put barbed wires. It was so nice to hear this. After lunch we all reached the crematorium.  It was nice to see the trees having grown well. 

The caretaker of the trees stays in the crematorium the whole day and puts in a lot of effort.  Shri Motibhai & Village sarpanch also visits the site everyday to enquire about the health of trees.

We are thankful to Shri Pratulbhai Shroff of Dr K R Shroff Foundation. With their help we have been able to plant more than 15 lakh trees.  This year we will plant further 1.5 lakh trees. We wish that more people come forward to help like Pratulbhai.

કહે છે દાને દાને પર લીખા હૈ ખાને વાલે કા નામ...

આવું જ કાંઈક હમણાં બનાસકાંઠાના વજાપુરમાં થયું. અમે વજાપુરમાં 6000 વૃક્ષો ડો.કે.આર.શ્રોફ ફાઉન્ડેશનની મદદથી વાવ્યા. બે મહિના પછી આ સાઈટ પર વાવેલા વૃક્ષો એક વર્ષના થશે.

અમે વાવ, સમલીબેટ જઈ રહ્યા હતા ને વજાપુર વચમાં આવ્યું. ગામના આગેવાન મોતીભાઈને સ્મશાનમાં આવીયે છીએ તમે આવો એવું કહેવા અમારા કાર્યકર નારણભાઈએ ફોન કર્યો. 

ને મોતીભાઈએ કહ્યું, 'ગામના આગેવાન હીરાભાઈના ત્યા હવન છે ત્યાં આવ્યો છું. હીરાભાઈને અમારા ગામના સૌ અહીંયા બેઠા છે. સૌનો આગ્રહ છે કે તમે પ્રસાદ લેવા આવો..'

ગામના સૌ ભેગા થયેલા, વૃક્ષોની વાતો થશે એ આશયે અમે હીરાભાઈના ઘરે પહોંચ્યા. એકદમ જાગૃત વ્યક્તિ. VSSM દ્વારા થતી તમામ સેવાકીય પ્રવૃતિઓથી એ વાકેફ.

એમણે સ્વાગત સાથે પહેરામણી પણ કરી ને જમાડ્યા પણ ખરા..

હીરાભાઈ વૃક્ષના મહત્વને સમજે. તે એમના એક સગાએ કહ્યું પણ ખરુ,  'બેન અમારા હીરાભાઈ તારની વાડ કરવાની મનાઈ કરે. એ કહે એ તારની વાડમાં ઘણા ઝાડ કાપવા પડે.. નાના જીવો હાલની આપણી જીવતીવાડમાં રહે એમનો આશરો જતો રહે. તે બેન એમની વાત માની મે તારની વાડ નથી કરી.'

કેવી મજાની વાત..

ભોજન પ્રસાદ પછી અમે સૌ પહોંચ્યા ગામના સ્મશાનમાં વૃક્ષોનો સરસ ઉછેર જોઈ મન હરખાયું. 

અમારા વૃક્ષમિત્ર પણ દિવસ આખો અહીંયા રહે ને જબરુ મથે. મોતીભાઈ ને ગામના સરપંચ શ્રી પણ સ્મશાનમાં રોજ આંટો મારે ને ઝાડના ખબર પુછે.. કદાચ એટલે જ વાવેલા ઝાડ સરસ ઉછર્યા..

ડો.કે.આર.શ્રોફ ફાઉન્ડેશન આદરણીય પ્રતુલભાઈ શ્રોફના અમે આભારી છીએ. એમની મદદથી 1.5 લાખથી વધારે વૃક્ષો ઉછરી રહ્યા છે.. આ વર્ષે પણ એમની મદદથી બીજા 1.5 લાખ વૃક્ષો વાવી ઉછેરીશું...

Dhanali village in Banaskantha District has a population of 2500. It's a lovely town and so are the youngsters of the village. In order that the wasteland of the village is not misused, they decided that they would plant trees there. However, to plant trees and nurture it is an expensive affair. They would have only a small portion of  the likely expense of Rs 40 lakhs.

To fund such a large expense they first thought of the Government's Forest Department and then they thought of VSSM. If the Forest Department could do the cleaning of land, fencing, and plant saplings after digging then major expense would be taken care of. Then the next step would be to think of how to provide for water. Approximately 20,000 trees to be planted would require a very large quantity of water. Independent borewell is required  For that the youngsters of the village, especially Dillipbhai & his friends, collected the funds. So borewell was done, water was available but to supply water to 20,000 trees with pipe was not possible.

VSSM with the help of Parikh Foundation - Mahendra Brothers managed to get drip irrigation done. With this the trees would grow well. 

The salary of the person taking care of the trees would be paid by the Forest Department. The area is very large and it requires a higher salary to be paid to the person. They requested VSSM to consider this. We will decide on that soon.  Most important was that the trees should grow & survive. 

The forest department of Banaskantha, with great interest, takes care of the entire site and the trees. In near future Dhanali would have a man-made forest. The credit for the same would go to Dillipbhai & other youngsters of  his team. The credit also goes to Mahendra Brothers through VSSM..

We have completed 166 forests but in many villages people complain more and work less. They do not show the same enthusiasm in taking care of the trees as they do when they call us. In that matter Dhanali is a different village. We wish that all villages show such strong determination.

We salute the determination of all who are instrumental in ensuring that work is successfully done.

Nature will bestow its blessings to the villagers of Dhanali for the wonderful work done.

ધનાલી 2500ની વસતિ ધરાવતું બનાસકાંઠાનું મજાનું પણ એનાથીયે મજાના ગામના યુવાનો..

પોતાના ગામની સરકારી ખરાબા અને ગૌચરની જગ્યામાં માણસો દબાણ  ન કરે એ માટે તેમણે આ જગ્યા પર મોટા પ્રમાણમાં વૃક્ષો વાવી ઉછેરવાનો નિર્ણય કર્યો. પણ વૃક્ષો વાવી ઉછેરવા ખીસ્સામાં ફદિયા જોઈયે. એમની પાસેથી થોડા ઘણા નીકળે પણ ખર્ચો તો ચાલીસ લાખ આસપાસ થાય એમ હતો..

શું કરવુંની મથામણે પ્રથમ જંગલ વિભાગ યાદ આવ્યું ને બીજુ VSSM.

જગંલ વિભાગ જમીનની સફાઈ કરી, ફ્રેન્સીંગ, ખાડા અને વૃક્ષો વાવી આપે તો મોટો ખર્ચ નીકળી જાય. એ પછી વૃક્ષોનો બરાબર ઉછેર થાય તે માટે પાણીની વ્યવસ્થા કેવી રીતે કરવી તેનો વિચાર કર્યો. 

લગભગ 20,000 થી વધારે વૃક્ષો વવાવાના આમ પાણી પણ ખુબ જોઈએ. સ્વતંત્ર બોરવેલ કરવાનો વિચાર આવ્યો ને એ માટે ગામના યુવાનો ખાસ તો દિલીપભાઈ અને તેમના મિત્રોએ પૈસા ભેગા કર્યા. 

બોરવેલ થયો પાણીની સગવડ થઈ. હવે 20,000 થી વધારે વૃક્ષોને પાઈપથી પાણી આપવું અશક્ય. 

VSSMએ પરીખ ફાઉન્ડેશન- મહેન્દ્ર બ્રઘર્સની મદદથી ડ્રીપ કરી આપી. આમ વાવેલા વૃક્ષો બરાબર ઉછેરે.

વૃક્ષોના જતન માટે રાખેલા માણસને જંગલ વિભાગ વેતન આપે. પણ સાઈટ મોટી છે. હમણાં ગામે VSSM ને વૃક્ષ મિત્રને થોડુ વધારે વેતન આપવા વિનંતી કરી. એ પણ ઝટ કરી લઈશું. મૂળ તો વૃક્ષો ઉછરે એ માટે આ બધુ જ અગત્યનું..

બનાસકાંઠા જંગલ વિભાગની ટીમ ખુબ રસ પૂર્વક આખી સાઈટનું ધ્યાન રાખે. ભવિષ્યમાં ધનાલીમાં માનવ નિર્મીત મજાનું જંગલ થઈ જશે. જેનો શ્રેય ગામના યુવાન દીલીપભાઈ અને એમની ટીમ, જંગલ વિભાગ તેમજ VSSM થકી મહેન્દ્ર બ્રઘર્સને જાય.. 

અમે 166 ગ્રામવન કર્યા પણ ઘણા ગામોમાં લોકો કામની જગ્યાએ ફરિયાદ ખુબ કરે. જેટલા ઉમળકાથી અમને વૃક્ષો ઉછેરવા ગામમાં બોલાવે તેટલા ઉમળકાથી વાવેલા વૃક્ષોને ઉછેરવામાં મદદ ન કરે ત્યારે ધનાલી એ રીતે નોખુ ગામ..

આવી કટીબદ્ધતા દરેક ગામ દાખવે તે ઈચ્છનીય...

" We want to plant trees in our village. Will you help us ?"

From the villagers of Jadiyali in Banaskantha District we got this request. At VSSM, it is our mission to plant trees. The question of saying no to such a request does not arise. We suggested that they should look for a bigger piece of land to plant trees.

They selected the cemetery of the village. Crematorium is our favourite place to plant trees. We consider a cemetery to be an auspicious place. The deceased body is brought here for cremation and It is here that it mingles with nature. We consider it a privilege to plant trees in a  cemetery.

However , the area of the land available for tree plantation at Jadiyali cemetery was small. Not many trees can be planted. We requested if more space can be made available. The locals requested the owners of adjoining land to allow tree plantation. After some discussion the adjoining land was also made available. 

With the help of Rosy Blue Pvt Ltd we planted over 9500 trees. Respected Shri Russell Mehta, is very supportive and kind towards our work of tree plantation. He regularly comes forward to help us. The population of Jadiyali is about 4000. This oxygen park will benefit them.

Tree plantation counters the Global Warming problem by cooling the earth.  We need more green jungles. We salute the people of Jadiyali Village for their awareness and wish that more villages learn from them and come forward to plant trees. 

'અમારા ગામમાં પણ વૃક્ષો વાવવા છે. તમે મદદ કરશો?'

બનાસકાંઠાના જડિયાલી ગામના લોકોએ આ કહ્યું. વૃક્ષો વાવી ઉછેરવાનું તો અમારુ મીશન એમાં ના તો પાડવાની જ ન હોય. અમે એમને મોટી જગ્યા વૃક્ષ ઉછેર માટે પસંદ કરવા કહ્યું. 

એમણે ગામનું સ્મશાન પસંદ કર્યું. 

સ્મશાન આમ પણ અમારી પ્રિય જગ્યા. માણસના શ્વાસ થંભે પછી ખોળિયું કોઈ કામનું નથી. લોકો સદેહે આ દુનિયામાં વિદાય આપવા મૃતકને સ્મશાનમાં લઈ આવે અને અહીંયાથી આપણો દેહ પંચમહાભૂતોમાં વિલીન થાય. આવી પવિત્ર જગ્યાએ પ્લાનટેશન કરવું એ સૌભાગ્ય.

પણ જડિયાલીના સ્મશાનની જગ્યા નાની. વધારે વૃક્ષો ત્યાં આવે નહીં. અમે મોટી જગ્યા આપવા કહેલું એટલે ગામે સ્મશાન ફરતે જ્યાં દબાણ હતું એ દબાણ ખાલી કરવા દબાણકર્તાઓને સમજાવ્યા. ને એ લોકોએ પણ વૃક્ષો વાવવા માટે દબાણ ખાલી કરી આપ્યું.

એ પછી જડિયાલીના સ્મશાનમાં 9500 થી વધારે વૃક્ષો અમે રોઝી બ્લુ ઈન્ડિયા પ્રા.લી.ની મદદથી વાવ્યા. આદરણીય રશેલભાઈ મહેતાની અમારા કામો માટે લાગણી ઘણી એ નિયમીત વૃક્ષ ઉછેર માટે અમને મદદ કરે. 

જડિયાલીની વસતિ 4000 થી વધારે. ગામના તમામને આ ઓક્સિજન પાર્કથી લાભ થશે..

આમ પણ પૃથ્વી ગરમ થઈ રહી છે. ત્યારે વૃક્ષો જ એને ઠંડી કરવાનું કરી શકે. માટે વધારે જંગલો ઊભા થાય તે ઈચ્છનીય છે..

જડિયાલીગામના લોકો સાથે મળીને અમે વૃક્ષો વાવ્યા.. આવા જાગૃત ગામને સલામ.. 

બસ જડિયાલી ગામ પાસેથી સૌ શીખે એમ ઈચ્છીયે...

"We never had thought or imagined that there would be celebrations in Cemetery. Today we had celebrations and also had snacks in the cemetery. The mindset & beliefs of people is fast changing."

So said the Village head (sarpanch) of Nani Pavad village of Banaskantha.

In this village of Nani Pavad we planted & worshipped trees like we worship God. Normally we have a small ceremony & we worship God when we move into a new home. We invite our well-wishers and worship God & then enter our new home. Why not worship the tree ? Today the tree is a sapling but will soon grow big and will be a home to so many living things . It is a living God. The villagers of Nani Pavad village  prayed together and planted the saplings.

65 families and many others from the village came with all the items needed for worship and planted the sapling & worshipped it. Even the ladies of the village came to the cemetery for the first time. They realised that there is nothing to be afraid of. It was necessary that they realise that there is nothing to fear.

The villagers contributed towards the cost of cleaning up the land for planting the trees. They also provided the water connection. Rest all we did. In this mission , Respected Shri Dharminbhai Patel helped us. His feelings towards the trees is special and he remained present on the occasion. We are thankful to him for the same. 

The sound of "Long Live the Trees" reverberated in the entire cemetery. While we were leaving, every one said that they will ensure that the saplings will grow into trees. If every village feels like this the earth will become beautifully green  Our associates Naranbhai, Maheshbhai, Hareshbhai, Jayeshbhai helped us in identifying the place. In this support of Shri Ashwinbhai Chowdhary gave us strength. Let's Pray for the good of all. 

'મશાણમાં માંડવા બંધાય એ ક્યારેય કલ્પ્યું નહોતું. પણ આજે સ્મશાનમાં માંડવો બંધાયો અને અહીંયા લોકોએ નાસ્તો પણ કર્યો. સ્મશાનની માન્યતાઓ બદલાઈ રહી છે બેન...'

બનાસકાંઠાના નાની પાવડ ગામના સરપંચ શ્રીએ આ કહ્યું. 

નાની પાવડમાં અમે વૃક્ષદેવનું પૂજન કરીને સ્થાપન કર્યું. સામાન્ય રીતે આપણે નવું ઘર બાંધીયે તો એનું વાસ્તુ લેતા હોઈએ છીએ. આપણે સ્નેહીજનોને બોલાવીએ અને પૂજન સાથે ગૃહપ્રવેશ કરીએ. ત્યારે બાલતરુ આજે નાનકડુ છે પણ એ કાલે એ મોટુ થશે તો એના પર પણ અસંખ્ય જીવો રહેવાના. તો એનું પૂજન કેમ નહીં? વળી વૃક્ષ એ જીવતો જાગતો દેવ. બસ એટલે નાની પાવડના લોકો સાથે મળી વૃક્ષોનું પૂજન કરીને સ્થાપન કર્યું.

65 દંપતી તેમજ ગામના કેટલાય વ્યક્તિઓ પૂજન માટે પોતાના ઘરેથી થાળી, પૂજાપો લઈને આવ્યા અને પૂજન કરી વૃક્ષ વાવ્યું.

બહેનો પહેલીવાર સ્મશાનમાં આવ્યા હતા. બધાએ કહ્યું અહીંયા તો કશી બીક જેવું નથી.. બસ આ બીક ભાંગે એ પણ અગત્યનું. 

ગામલોકોએ ફાળો કરીને જગ્યાની સફાઈ કરી. પાણીનું કનેક્શન પણ આપ્યું. બાકીનું અમે કર્યું. અમને આ કાર્ય માટે  આદરણીય ધર્મીનભાઈ પટેલે મદદ કરી. તેમની લાગણી વૃક્ષો માટે ઘણી એ પોતે પણ કાર્યક્રમમાં ખાસ હાજર રહ્યા. તેમની લાગણી માટે આભારી છીએ.

વૃક્ષ નારાયણ દેવની જયના નારાથી આખુ સ્મશાન ગાજી ઊઠ્યું. અમે જ્યારે ત્યાંથી નીકળી રહ્યા હતા ત્યારે સૌએ કહ્યું, 'તમે જોજો બેન અમે આ માથે લીધું છે તો ઉછેરીને જ બતાવીશું.' દરેક ગામની આવી લાગણી થઈ જાય તો ધરતી મા હરિયાળી થઈ જાય એ નક્કી..

અમારા કાર્યકરો નારણભાઈ, મહેશભાઈ, રત્નાભાઈ, હરેશભાઈ, જયેશભાઈની પણ જગ્યાઓ શોધવામાં મહેતન ઘણી. એમાં અશ્વિનભાઈ ચૌઘરીનું પણ બળ મળ્યું. 

સૌનું શુભથાવોની શુભભાવના...

For millions of years the sun rises and brings new hope, new life. Every morning the whole earth gets a golden glow. The important question to ponder is whether human beings get a new understanding. It's a moot question that requires deep introspection. 

What is understanding ? This itself is a bigger question.

How to live one's life ? How to protect the environment surrounding us ? How to enjoy & protect the environment ? If one can find answers and act accordingly then one can say that we have attained a certain level of understanding. Wise readers must have understood what I am talking about.

It is all about loving the nature and understanding the importance of protecting it. This is a season of rain and time to plant the trees. We are very much ignorant about tree plantation. The understanding that one is required to have is not there with the result earth has become scorching hot and we are facing the consequences of it. Its either floods or drought that we have to face. 

However, people associated with VSSM have understood the importance of cooling the earth and we started tree plantation in a big way. We also take care & nurture the trees. Trees are like God to us and we must plant them in every monsoon. But we are selfish and therefore we forgot the importance of tree plantation. We at VSSM not only plant trees but also worship them. 

In Sardarpura village of Banaskantha, we planted 15000 trees with the help of Shri Rameshbhai Mehta of Rosy Blue India Pvt Ltd.  The villagers gave us the land after removing the wild growth. We fenced the land with wires, arranged for drip irrigation, dug the land and planted the trees. We will now employ one person who will take care of the plantation. 

The youths of the village are very enthusiastic. They took full responsibility for protecting the trees. They arranged for water from the borewells of two farmers.

If this type of awareness comes in every village then the whole earth can turn green. The earth was initially, when formed, a fiery globe. It cooled and then the trees grew. However as humans progressed, we started cutting trees and the green jungles started getting smaller. That's what we are now trying to reverse. Create more jungles. 

In Banaskantha we have 129 such locations where we have planted about 4.72 lakhs trees. This year we will plant 3.5 lakhs more. 

These are sweet remembrances of Sardarpura village where we did the tree worship.

Heartily thank the youths of the village who enthusiastically participated in this mission.

કરોડો વર્ષથી નિયત સમયે સવાર પડે, સૂરજદાદા ક્યારેય મોડા પડ્યાનું આપણે સાંભળ્યું કે જોયું નથી. સવાર સાથે જીવન ઊગે, પ્રકાશ ઊગે સમગ્ર ધરતી ખીલી ઊઠે. પણ શું માણસની સમજણ સવાર સાથે ઊગે છે? વિચારવા જેવો પ્રશ્ન છે. 

સમજણ એટલે શું? એ પણ મોટો પ્રશ્ન. 

મારે મન જીવવું કેવી રીતે? આપણી આસપાસ જે છે એને જાળવવું કેવી રીતે? એને માણવું, આબાધીત રાખવું કેવી રીતે? આ બધા પ્રશ્નોના જવાબ મળી જાય તો સમજણ એક સ્તરની આવી ગઈ..

સમજદાર મિત્રો સમજી પણ ગયા હશે કે કોની વાત કરી રહી છું.

પ્રકૃતિ પ્રેમી છીએ અને એના મહત્વને સમજીયે એટલે એની જ વાત. વળી આ ઋતુ વરસાદની અને વૃક્ષોને આ ધરતીમાં પ્રત્યારોપીત કરવાની. વૃક્ષો બાબતે આપણે સાવ ઉદાસીન. આમાં જે સમજણ આપણે દાખવવાની છે એ આપણે દાખવી નથી રહ્યા પરિણામે ધરતી ગરમલાય થઈ રહી છે અને એના વિપરીત પરિણામો પણ આપણી ભોગવી રહ્યા છીએ. અતિવૃષ્ટિ, દુષ્કાળ જેવી અનેક કુદરતી આફતો એના લીધે સર્જાય છે.

ખેર VSSM સાથે સંકળાયેલા સૌ સ્વજનોને મા ધરતીને ઠંડી કરવાનું સમજાયું એટલે અમે વૃક્ષો વાવી ઉછેરવાનું શરૃ કર્યું. આમ તો વૃક્ષ એ આપણો જીવતો જાગતો દેવ. એનું સ્થાપન તો દર ચોમાસે સરસ થવું જોઈએ. પણ આપણે સ્વાર્થી થયા એટલે એના મહત્વને ભૂલ્યા.

અમે વૃક્ષોનું સ્થાપન પૂજન સાથે કરીએ.

બનાસકાંઠાનું સરદારપુરા ગામ. 15000 થી વધારે વૃક્ષો અમે રોઝી બ્લુ ઈન્ડિયા પ્રા.લી. આદરણીય શ્રી રશેલભાઈ મહેતાની મદદથી  વાવવાનું કર્યું. ગામે ગાંડા બાવળ કાઢી જગ્યા અમને આપી. તારની વાડ, ડ્રીપ, ખાડા કરવા વૃક્ષોને લાવી વાવવાનું અમે કર્યું. હવે પગારદાર માણસ થકી આ વૃક્ષોનું અમે જતન કરીશું.

ગામના યુવાનોની ટીમ બહુ ઉત્સાહી. એમણે પૂર્ણ જવાબદારી સાથે વૃક્ષોને ઉછેરવાની જવાબદારી લીધી. પાણી માટેની વ્યવસ્થા એમણે બે ખેડૂતોના બોરવેલમાંથી કરી છે. 

દરેક ગામ આ પ્રકારે જાગૃત થાય તો આખી ધરતી હરિયાળી થઈ જાય એ નક્કી. આમ તો પૃથ્વીની ઉત્પત્તી થઈ ત્યારે એ ઘગતા ગોળા જેવી હતી. ધીમે ધીમે ઠંડી પડી અને પછી વૃક્ષો આચ્છાદીત બની પણ આપણે આપણી જરૃરિયાત મુજબ એ વૃક્ષોને કાપતા ગયા ને જંગલોનો ભાગ ઘટતો ગયો. 

બસ આ જંગલો વધારવાનું અમે કરી રહ્યા છે.

બનાસકાંઠામાં 129 ગ્રામવનોમાં અમારા 4.72 લાખ વૃક્ષો ઉછરી રહ્યા છે. આ વર્ષે 3.5 લાખ વૃક્ષો વાવીશું. 

સરદારપુરામાં વૃક્ષદેવનું પુજન કરીને એનું સ્થાપન કર્યું એ વેળાની મીઠી યાદો...

ગામના યુવાનો આમાં ઉત્સાહ ભેર જોડાયા. એમનો ઘણો આભાર..

Just read the book written by respected Shri Dhruvdada (Bhatt). The story is fictional. The story is about how the man had to leave the polluted earth and was forced to live elsewhere. However, in reality we don't have an option to go to another planet. We do not have a choice but to stay on this earth. Therefore we do not have a choice but to keep the earth clean & beautiful. We may survive but what about our next generation?

In an effort to provide a clean environment to the next generation, we started planting trees.

In Jaswantpura village in Patan planted 4000 trees in the village graveyard and cemetery with the help of Anuhpharma. Thank you Anuhfarma &  Respected Bipinbhai and family.. We will take care of these trees for three years.

Our campaign of tree plantation has now started in Patan.

The village sarpanch himself took the initiative and invited us to plant the trees and take care of the trees. He saw the trees raised by us in the Shia of Banaskantha and the cemetery of Totanagam and invited us to do similar work in his village as well.We planted nice trees. This type of work has to be done continuously. We cannot be complacent. Like we regularly eat, walk similarly we environmental work also have to be done regularly. We just have to steadfastly keep ourselves committed to the task.

 આદરણીય ધ્રુવદાદા (ધ્રુવભટ્ટ) લીખીત ન ઈતિ પુસ્તક હમણાં વાચ્યું. પુસ્તકમાં વાત કાલ્પનીક છે. પણ એ કલ્પનામાં પૃથ્વી આપણે એટલી હદે પ્રદુષીત કરી કે પછી માણસે પૃથ્વી છોડી અન્ય જગ્યાએ રહેવા જવા મજબૂર થવું પડ્યું. દાદાએ કલ્પના કરી પણ હકીકતમાં અન્ય ગ્રહ પર કે અન્ય જગ્યાએ રહેવા જવાના વિકલ્પો આપણી પાસે નથી. ત્યારે આપણી ધરતીને ચોખ્ખી અને સુંદર રાખવાનું આપણે કરવું પડશે નહીં તો આપણે કદાચ જીવી જશું પણ આપણી આવનારી પેઢી?

ખેર આવનારી પેઢીને શુદ્ધ વાતાવારણ આપવાના પ્રયાસ રૃપે અમે વૃક્ષો વાવી ઉછેરવાનું શરૃ કર્યું. 

પાટણના હારીજનું જશવંતપુરાગામ. ગામના સ્મશાન અને કબ્રસ્તાનમાં અમે 4000 વૃક્ષો અનુહફાર્માની મદદથી વાવ્યા. આભાર અનુહફાર્મા. આદરણીય બીપીનભાઈ અને પરિવારજનોનો..  આ વૃક્ષોનું અમે ત્રણ વર્ષ સુધી જતન કરીશું.

આમ હવે વૃક્ષ ઉછેરનું અમારુ અભીયાન પાટણમાં પણ શરૃ થયું. 

ગામના સરપંચે સામે ચાલીને વૃક્ષો વાવી ઉછેરવા અમને આમંત્રણ આપ્યું. એમણે બનાસકાંઠાના શિયા અને ટોટાણાગામના સ્મશાનમાં અમે ઉછેરેલા વૃક્ષો જોયા બસ એ જોઈને પોતાના ગામમાં પણ આવું સુંદર કાર્ય થાય એ માટે અમને આમંત્રણ આપ્યું. અને અમે સરસ વૃક્ષો કર્યા. 

કેટલાક કામો નિરંતર કરવા પડે. એમાં આળસ કરીએ તો ચાલે નહીં. જેમ કે જમવું, ચાલવું.. આ કાર્યો જેમ નિત કરવા પડે એજ રીતે પર્યાવરણના કામો પણ નીત - નિરંતર કરવા પડે. બસ આપણે એ માટે કટીબદ્ધ થઈએ એ ઈચ્છનીય...

Whenever a feeling of arrogance overcomes you, just take a walk in the nearby cemetery and think that people cleverer and more successful than you are reduced to ashes or are buried here.

For attaining "Moksh" ( emancipation) or "Swarg" (heaven) we worship every stone as if it's  God but fail to apply our mind to benevolent work during the lifetime.  This sentence tells a lot about the human-being's nonchalant  attitude..

Imagine a world without poverty, without environment destruction, with greenery everywhere & with lakes full of water. Does this not feel like heaven? We can experience heaven during our lifetime rather than just imagining

heaven after death which no one has actually seen. To see heaven on earth requires efforts. If the entire humanity starts working towards it, it is possible.  We at VSSM have already commenced working towards it.

We are optimistic.

We at VSSM work with the deprived community, we work towards building lakes to resolve water scarcity, we plant trees to resolve environment degradation.

In the cemetery in Totaana Village in Banaskantha District , we planted 2500 trees. A local resident of the village,  Shri Jeevankaka,  plays his role as friend of the trees to perfection. He takes care of the trees planted in the cemetery. When village administration supplies water at night, Jeevankaka goes to the cemetery in the middle of night to water the trees. This is his sincerity and love for the work that he is doing. He looks forward to the day when the trees will grow big, birds will build nests in it. He says that he will get satisfaction for having created a small heaven on earth. 

What a wonderful thought.!!!

ક્યારેક કોઈ વસ્તુનો ઘમંડ આવી જાય તો સ્મશાન કે કબ્રસ્તાનમાં એક ચક્કર મારી આવવું. આપણાં કરતા પણ હોંશિયાર માણસો ત્યાં રાખ થઈને પડ્યા છે..

ક્યાંક વાંચેલું આ વાક્ય ઘણું બધું કહી જાય છે. માણસ તરીકે સ્વર્ગ પ્રાપ્તી માટે કે મોક્ષ મેળવવા પથ્થર એટલા દેવ કરીએ પણ ખરુ અને કરવા જેવું કાર્ય પરોપકારનું. જેમાં ખાસ મન ન પરોવીએ.

 દુનિયામાં ગરીબી ન હોય. પર્યાવરણની જે માઠી દશા આજે આપણે કરી છે તેવી માઠી દશા ન હોય. બધે હરિયાળી પથરાયેલી હોય, આપણા જળાશયો પાણીથી ભરેલા હોય તો સ્વર્ગની અનુભૂતી અહીંયા જ થવાની. મર્યા પછીના સ્વર્ગની માત્ર કલ્પનાઓ છે જોયું કોઈએ નથી.. છતાં એ મેળવવા એને કેન પ્રકારેે પ્રયત્નો...

પણ પ્રશ્ન શું આપણે આપણી ધરતીને જ સ્વર્ગ જેવી ન બનાવી શકીએ? 

એક સાથે માનવજાત આખી સંકલ્પ કરે તો આ થઈ શકે એ ચોક્કસ છે..

ખેર આ આશાવાદ છે.. બાકી અમે તો અમારી રીતે પ્રયત્ન શરૃ કરી દીધા છે. 

VSSM ટીમ તકવંચિતોને જે રીતે થાય તે રીતે મદદ કરે સાથે પાણીની ચિંતા કરી તળાવો પણ કરીએ અને હરિયાળી ધરતી માટે વૃક્ષો વાવીએ...

બનાસકાંઠાનું ટોટાણાગામનું કબ્રસ્તાન. 2500 વૃક્ષો ત્યાં વાવ્યા. અમારા જીવણકાકા ત્યાં વૃક્ષમિત્ર તરીકે ફરજ બજાવે એ બધા વૃક્ષોની જબરી કાળજી કરે. વૃક્ષોને પંચાયત દ્વારા રાત્રે પાણી આપવામાં આવે તો એ રાત્રે કબ્રસ્તાનમાં જાય ને વૃક્ષોને પાણી સિંચે. એમની આ ધગશ. એ કહે, વૃક્ષો મોટા થશે એના પર પક્ષીઓ ઘર બાંધશે, એમના જીવને સાતા થશે ને જે આશિ બોલશે એ મારી સાથે આવશે બાકી બધું તો અહીંયા રહેવાનું...

કેવી મજાની વાત..

વાશી પરિવારે અમને આ વૃક્ષો ઉછેરવા મદદ કરી. તેમના અમે આભારી છીએ..

આ વર્ષે 3.5 લાખ વૃક્ષો વાવી ઉછેરવાનો સંકલ્પ છે. તમે પણ આ કાર્ય માટે પ્રત્યેક વૃક્ષ દીઠ 200ની મદદ કરી શકો. તમારા વતી તમે કહેશો તેટલા વૃક્ષો અમે વાવી દઈશું..

ચાલે સાથે મળી આ ધરતીને સુંદર અને હરિયાળી- સ્વર્ગ સમી બનાવીએ...

Today, several tree plantation projects will be launched at multiple places.  Thousands of young & delicate saplings will be sowed to mark the World Environment Day. A great act but what follows is tragedy.  A vast majority of them will in couple of days be deprived of life-giving water.  Young saplings will yearn desperately for water but there is none who would quench their thirst. Like a small human baby, it will cry, it will get sad & it will get tired eagerly waiting for someone to give water. But people who sowed have moved on and there is none to take care of this young sapling. They are abandoned. Without water, without oxygen it will wither and die. A case of infant mortality. Isn’t this as serious as infanticide?

Our soil is dry and bereft of water. The sowed sapling does not get any nutrition from the soil for it to grow on its own. It needs a life-line of water to survive. Imagine a mother giving up on the new born baby. Imagine a mother telling her new born that her job of giving birth is done and from now on you will have to take care of yourself. What will a child do?  It cannot even move on its own, how will it take care of its life to survive without mother’s support? Same with baby saplings.

That is why I have repeatedly said that to sow a plant is easy. To take care & nurture it is difficult. It is better not to sow if you are not in a position to take care of the sapling.  Sow only if you have the time & inclination to take care.  Just for the sake of symbolic photo opportunity, just for the sake of showing the world that you celebrated 5th June, don’t sow. 

This year at VSSM we will plant over 3.5 lakhs trees in our villages. This is not the right time to sow. We will do it after the rains makes its presence. We will also depute a friend of the tree, a caretaker, to take care of the newly planted saplings. 

The shade of our trees will provide comfort to the tired. I can with immense joy show you my pictures with the lovely, sturdy trees that have grown from young & delicate saplings. Even you can do it & show your picture with pride. Please take care of the plantation in a manner that we can inspire our next generation to grow more trees & make this earth a more beautiful place to live. 

THE TREES THAT HAVE GROWN & PROVIDE SHADE IN THE CREMATORIUM, WE ARE ONLY A MEDIUM & WE ARE IMMENSELY HAPPY ABOUT IT. 

#વિશ્વ_પર્યાવરણ_દિવસની ઘણી ઘણી શુભેચ્છા...

આજે ઢગલો કાર્યક્રમ થશે ને કેટલા બાલતરૃની વાવણી થશે. 

જેમાંના મોટાભાગના બાલતરુ બે દિવસ પછી પાણી માટે ટળવળશે, એ જોરથી રડશે, થાકશે ને ઉદાસ થઈ કોઈ પાણી આપશેની વાટે જોશે.. 

પણ વાવણી કરનાર મોટાભાગના એના તરફ ફરકશે નહીં. આખરે ઓક્સિજન વગર, પાણી વગર માણસ કેવો ટળવળે એમ ટળવળશે ને પછી મૃત્યુ પામશે.

શું આ પાપ ભ્રુણહત્યા જેટલું જ મોટું નથી?

આપણી જમીનમાં એવો ભેજ નથી કે વાવેલું બચ્ચુ જાતે એ ભેજ વાટે મોટુ થઈ જાય?

બાળકને જન્મ આપ્યા પછી મા બાળકને એવું કહી દે કે, આજથી તારી પીપી ને પોર્ટી જાતે જોઈ લેવાની, ખાઈ પણ જાતે લેવાનું? તો એ બચ્ચુ શું કરશે? એ તો બાપડુ પડખુયે માની મદદ વગર ન ફેરવી શકે એ ક્યાંથી આ કરવાનું..

બાલતરુનુ પણ આજ..

એટલે જ વારંવાર કહુ, વાવવું સહેલું પણ ઉછેરવું મુશ્કેલ પણ એજ અગત્યનું..

એટલે વાવતા પહેલાં ભ્રુણને યાદ કરજો... ને ઉછેરવાના હોવ તો જ વાવજો.. બાકી ફોટો પાડવા કે પાંચમી જૂને કાંઈક કર્યું એ બતાવવા બાલતરુ ન વાવતા.

અમે આ વર્ષે અમારા ગ્રામવનમાં 3.5 લાખ વૃક્ષો વાવીશું પણ આજે વાવણીનો સમય નથી.. બરાબર વરસાદ થશે પછી વાવીશું ને વાવ્યા પછી એને ઉછેરવા માણસ રાખીશું. જેથી કાળજી થાય..

અમે વાવેલા વૃક્ષના છાંયે... 

પેલા ગીતની જેમ થોડોક તો વિસામો મને લેવા દે હરી.. 

ને હા મે વાવેલા હું બધા ફોટો સાથે આજે કેવડા થયા એ બતાવી શકુ. તમે પણ એ રીતે બતાવી શકો એ રીતે ઉછેરજો... તો જ આપણે આપણી આવનારી પેઢીને એ બતાવી શકીશું ને એને પણ વૃક્ષ વાવી ઉછેરવા પ્રોત્સાહીત કરી શકીશું. 

વખાના સ્મશાનમાં અમે વાવેલા વૃક્ષોની છાયામાં... બસ અમે તો માધ્યમ.. ને એનો ઘણો રાજીપો..

Plantation of 6000 trees at the Tharad Graveyard

"Bahen, we want to plant and raise trees at our graveyard!" Tharad's Hanifbhai called to share their collective intent. Such calls are always music to my ears.

Later, we made a site visit to comprehend the work involved. It is a vast graveyard that could easily host 6000 plus trees. Hanifbhai and others contributed wholeheartedly to cleaning and fencing the site and drilling a borewell for the water required to raise the to-be-planted trees. Apart from these, the group also contributed to our remuneration to the Vriksh Mitra. The collective efforts led to the plantation of 6000 trees at the graveyard. 

Hanifbhai and the group replaced the trees that did not take root, not once did they tell us to bring replacements or come complaining. Apart from it, they also voluntarily spent on miscellaneous expenses that popped up at regular intervals. Any community-supported work flourishes only when we take ownership; it is not ideal to depend on the government or others to accomplish little needs; one can never reach desired goals with such an attitude.

This year we have carried out tree plantation drives at numerous villages but have yet to come across anyone like Hanifbhai and his team, who are proactive toward raising trees. Achvadiya is one such village; we are growing 7000 trees here. However, the community never calls us up for any minor issues. So are the villages of Surana, Mandla, Makhanu, Dama, Ludra, Bepun, etc.

If each village takes up the responsibility, we can significantly increase our work's efficiency. VSSM wishes to plant a maximum number of trees next year; if you are one of those supportive community do get in touch with us.

અમારા કબ્રસ્તાનમાં વૃક્ષો વાવી ઉછેરવા છે બેન...થરાદથી હનીફભાઈનો ફોન આવ્યો.  અમને તો ભાવતુ'તુ ને વૈદે કીધા જેવું થયું. એ પછી કબ્રસ્તાનની મુલાકાત લીધી. બહુ મોટુ કબ્રસ્તાન 6000 થી વૃક્ષો આવી જાય એવું.હનીફભાઈ અને અન્ય સ્વજનોએ પણ પૂરી ભાગીદારી દાખવી. સ્મશાનમાં સફાઈ કરવાથી લઈને દિવાલ, દિવાલ પર ફ્રેન્સીંગ, પાણી માટે બોરવેલ એમણે બનાવી આપ્યો. સાથે વૃક્ષમિત્રને અમે જે પગાર આપીયે તેમાં એ લોકોએ પોતે પણ ચોક્કસ રકમનો ઉમેરે. આ કાર્ય માટે અમને અમારા ડો. અલીમ અદાતિયાએ મદદ કરી. આમ સહિયારા પ્રયાસથી કબ્રસ્તાનમાં 6000 થી વધુ વૃક્ષો વાવ્યા. 

વાવેલા વૃક્ષોમાંથી વૃક્ષો બળ્યા તો એમણે અમને બીજા વાવોનું ન કહ્યું જાતે જઈને નવા ખરીદી આવ્યા. એ સિવાય નાનો મોટો ખર્ચ પણ એ લોકો પોતાની રીતે કરી લે.

પોતાનું છે એમ માની રસ લઈને કામ કરીએ તો કામ સફળ જરૃર થાય. પણ નાની નાની વાતોમાં સરકાર કે અન્ય પર આધારિત રહીએ તો ઈચ્છીત પરિણામ સુધી ન પહોંચાય.

અમે આ વર્ષે ઘણી જગ્યાએ વૃક્ષો વાવ્યા પણ હનીફભાઈની ટીમ જેવા વ્યક્તિઓ ઘણા ઓછા મળ્યા જે અમારી સાથે પોતે પણ વૃક્ષો ઉછેરવા મથે... અછવાડિયા અમારુ એવું જ ગામ.. 7000થી વૃક્ષો ત્યાં ઉછરે. સફાઈ માટે કે અન્ય જરૃરિયાત માટે ગામ એમને ફોન ન કરે. આવુ જ સુરાણા, માંડલા, મખાણુ,દામા, લુદ્રા બેણપ વગેરે ગામોનું પણ ખરુ...બસ આવી રીતે દરેક ગામ પોતાની જવાબદારી સમજી લે તો કેટલું સરસ થઈ જાય... આવતા વર્ષ માટે વધારે વૃક્ષો વાવવા છે બસ જેમને ભાગીદારી સાથે કાર્ય કરવામાં રસ હોય તે સંપર્ક જરૃર કરે.
