"Our daughters are getting married, but we are unable to afford the expenses; can you help?"

This is from a Vadia village in Banaskantha. It is customary for daughters to get married in this village.

For the first time in 2012, VSSM helped in marrying off daughters in this village. Since then, every year, more daughters have gotten married, and we have been a part of this process.

Five daughters from the village have just completed their 12th grade and are now pursuing a General Nursing course.

The face of the village is slowly changing.

We helped with the expenses for the weddings of three daughters. Respected Alimbhai Adatiya, Tusharbhai Bheda, and Viralbhai Shah… With a simple message to these three relatives asking for help with the wedding expenses, all three agreed to contribute, and we thank them for immediately becoming part of this noble cause. We are grateful to all of you.

Weddings often involve dancing and music, but here, the tradition of Rajasthan's Ghoomar dance is more prevalent. Many children from the village stay in our hostel, and we celebrate Navratri with great enthusiasm here.

The children are good at playing Garba, and we all joined in the celebration. The elders also participated in the Garba dance.

We hope that such moments of joy continue to come frequently in the village.

‘અમારી દિકરીઓના વિવાહ છે પણ ખર્ચમાં અમે પહોંચી નહીં શકીએ તમે મદદ...’

બનાસકાંઠાનું વાડિયા. દિકરીઓ પરણે એ આ ગામમાં ઈચ્છીત. 

પહેલીવાર 2012માં VSSM એ આ ગામમાં દીકરીઓને પરણાવી. એ પછી તો દર વર્ષે દીકરીઓ પરણવા માંડી ને અમે એમાં નિમિત્ત બન્યા. 

ગામની પાંચ દીકરીઓએ હમણાં ધો.12 પુરુ કર્યું ને હવે એ જનરલ નર્સિંગ કોર્સ કરી રહી છે.

ગામની શકલ ધીમી ગતિએ બદલાઈ રહી છે.

ત્રણ દિકરીઓના લગ્નના ખર્ચમાં મદદરૃપ થયા. આદરણીય અલીમભાઈ અદાતિયા, તુષારભાઈ ભેદા અને વિરલભાઈ શાહ.. એક મેસેજ આ ત્રણે સ્વજનોને કર્યો ને દિકરીઓના લગ્નમાં મદદરૃપ થશો તો રાજી થઈશુંનુ કહ્યું ને ત્રણે સ્વજનોએ તુરત આવા કાર્યમાં સહભાગી બનાવ્યા તે બદલ આભાર વ્યક્ત કર્યો. અમે સૌના આભારી છીએ... 

લગ્ન એટલે નાચ-ગાન પણ હોય. પણ અહીંયા રાજસ્થાનની ઘૂમરનું ચલણ વધારે. પણ ગામના ઘણા બાળકો અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણે અને અમે અહીંયા નવરાત્રી ધામધૂમથી કરીએ.

બાળકોને ગરબા સરસ આવડે. તે અમે સૌએ ગરબા રમ્યા. બાળકો સાથે વડિલો પણ ગરબામાં સહભાગી થયા.

આનંદની આવી પળો વાડિયામાં અવારનવાર આવતી રહે તેવી શુભભાવના...

Bhikhabhai, a Shravan in today’s time...

The modern-day narrative is full of instances of young children/married couples abandoning their parents. Hence, when you come across an instance of a vision-impaired son caring and serving his mother in a way even a normal son wouldn’t, it does melt your heart.

Bhikhabhai stays with his mother Dhuliben in Nadiad’s Daavda village. Bhikhabhai had never had any issues with his sight, but some ailment led to a gradual loss of vision. As we were headed to his house, Bhikhabhai with a dhol hanging over his shoulder and walking with the aid of stick crossed us.  The poverty he endured was written all over him. Dhoodhima was asleep on a charpoy in the aanagan. Their living condition unnerved me. Since Ma had trouble hearing,  our  Rajnibhai loudly announced our arrival and Ma was in tears. “People have beaten me, here and here, can you please share this news with my sister…” she spoke with tears in eyes. Even though she was not very audible,  we could understand her pain. Wonder what people get from harassing handicap beings like her. The society we are part of is brimming with sadists. Bhikhabhai tried consoling her, but Ma was unable to comprehend all of that and kept talking about her pain.

Although Bhikhabhai is in no position to take up the responsibility of anyone else, he is the sole caregiver to frail and bedridden Dhudi Ma.  He bathes her, cook for her and feed her, caring for her mother was a task he performed wholeheartedly.

The support VSSM receives from its well-wishers enables it to take care of 143  destitute and needy individuals. Every month VSSM provides them with a ration kit to help them cook meals and eat well. Dhudi Ma also receives a ration kit under this initiative.

They were unable to avail any benefit from the government schemes as they had lost their ration card and were unaware of the handicap pension benefits. But, Bhikhabhai at least has the ration we provide to fall back on, he very carefully stores it the ration and keeps the house locked to prevent food theft.

We believe in the theory of Karma and it is said that our fate depends on our Karma, but looking at families and individuals like these pains me. I fail to understand what Bhikhabhai and Dhudi Ma karma are that they live under such painful conditions. Prayers to Almighty to never make anyone undergo such traumatic living conditions.

 હું મળી આજના શ્રવણને..

મા-બાપને ત્યજી દેતા સંતાનોની ઘણી વાતો આપણે સાંભળીએ.  ત્યારે એક અંધ દીકરો પોતાની માની આંખે દેખતા દીકરા ન કરી શકે તેવી સેવા ચાકરી કરે એ જોઈને રાજી થવાયું.નડિયાદના દાવડાગામમાં ભીખાભાઈ રાવળને તેમની મા ધૂળી મા રહે. આમ તો ભીખાભાઈની આંખો સાજીનરવી હતી પણ અચાનક આંખમાં તકલીફ થઈ ને પછી ધીમે ધીમે અંધાપો આવ્યો. 

અમે એમના ઘરે જઈ રહ્યા હતા ત્યારે હાથમાં લાકડીના સહારે ચાલી રહેલા ભીખાભાઈને અમે રસ્તામાં જોયા. દીદાર પરથી જ દરિદ્રતા દેખાય. ઘરના આંગણામાં ધૂળીમાં સુતેલા. હાલત જોઈને હૈયુ દ્રવી ઊઠે. 

અમારા કાર્યકર રજનીભાઈએ ભીખાભાઈને અમે મળવા આવ્યા છેની વાત જરા જોશથી કહી. મૂળે એ ઓછુ સાંભળે એટલે. પણ અમારી વાત સાંભળી એ રડવા માંડ્યા ને રડતા રડતા જ મને લોકોએ માર્યો, અહીંયા ધબ્બો માર્યો, તમે મારી બેનને સમાચાર મોકલજો ને વગેરે વગેરે.. એમના શબ્દો ચોખ્ખા નહોતા સંભળાતા. પણ એમની તકલીફ સમજાતી હતી. આવા વિકલાંગ વ્યક્તિને હેરાન કરીને લોકોને મળે શું? પણ ખેર સમાજમાં વિકૃતિ બધે જ પડેલી છે.. 

ભીખાભાઈને દીલાશો આપવા કોશીશ કરી પણ એ અમારી વાત સ્પષ્ટ સાંભળી શકતા નહોતા. પણ એ સતત કશુંક બોલે જતા હતા.. 

ભીખાભાઈ રોજ ધૂળી માને નવડાવે, રસોઈ બનાવી એમને ખવડાવે ટૂંકમાં ખરા હૃદયથી તેમની ચાકરી કરે.ભીખાભાઈની ક્ષમતા કામ કરવાની નથી.. ને ધૂળી મા તો ખાટલામાંથી કોઈની મદદ વગર ઊભાય નથી થઈ શકતા. 

આવા 143 માવતરોને સાચવવાનું સંસ્થા સાથે સંકળાયેલા સ્નેહીજનોની મદદથી અમે કરીએ.. દર મહિને આ પરિવારોને પેટ ભરીને ખાઈ શકાય તેટલું રાશન અમે આપીએ... એ અંતર્ગત ધૂળી માને પણ રાશન આપીએ.. 

સરકારમાંથી રાશન મળે છે? તેવું બહુ મોટેથી પુછ્યું ત્યારે ખ્યાલ આવ્યો કે, રાશનકાર્ડ જ ખોવાઈ ગયું છે... વિકલાંગ સહાય મળે છે કે કેમ ખબર નહીં.. પણ અમે અનાજ આપીએ એ અનાજ ભીખાભાઈ ઘરમાં સાચવીને મુકે ને મોટુ તાળુ ઘરના દરવાજે મારે જેથી એ અનાજ કોઈ ચોરી ન જાય...

આવી સ્થિતિમાં જીવતા લોકોને જોઈને જીવ બળે. 

લોકો કહે દરેક પોતાના કર્મનું ફળ ભોગવે... 

આ મા - દીકરો ક્યાં જન્મનું કર્મ ભોગવી રહ્યા છે એ ખબર નહીં પણ ભગવાનને આવી તકલીફ કોઈન ન આપની પ્રાર્થના..

The much respected and revered Shri Pandurangdada had undertaken the mammoth task of nurturing Trees as God through Vruksha Mandir/ the idea of seeing God resides in Nature and more so in Trees (Vruksha).

VSSM has also launched itself in the same direction.

The is a village called Geda in Banaskantha where pilgrims throng in huge numbers to worship Hanumandada, the resident deity. Just next to the temple is a Goushala. One needs to see for self and understand how well they care for the cows here.

VSSM in partnership with the patrons of Goushala,undertook a  tree plantation drive at a vacant plot adjacent to the Goushala. The volunteers at Goushala prepared the barbed wire fence for protecting the trees while the village made arrangements for drip-irrigation for the trees.

Unfortunate the long dry spell after plantation impaired some sapling from taking roots. The team approached us for new saplings.  Karshanbhai the Vruksha-Mitra was of the feeling that if he is appointed to look after a certain number of trees,  then that number should be complete. 

This year we have decided to award Rs. 51,000 to the Vruksha Mitra who manages to nurture and raise the maximum number of trees planted during this year. The award will be given at the end of the year. Subabhai, who volunteers at Geda Goushala was quick to respond, "this prize is ours for sure!!"

The well-wishing volunteers of Goushala have made a small pond near the area plantation has been carried out so that they can capture all the water that falls around Goushala.  It is a beautiful symbiotic facility the well-wishing individuals of Goushala have created. If each village of Banaskantha showed such proactiveness like Geda village, Banaskantha would be green once again. The tree-covered earth would compel the rain gods to bless them every year. We must create such favourable conditions, it is our duty to do so.

The groundwaters at most regions are depleting at an alarming rate, irrigation has not reached these regions yet. Let us remain diligent and continue our efforts, doing what is within our means.

VSSM's  Naranbhai and  Ishwarbhai's constant efforts and hard work is bringing success to this campaign.

અમે પણ એ દિશામાં રતીભાર આગળ વધવાનું કર્યું..

બનાસકાંઠાનું ગેળાગામ જ્યાં હનુમાનદાદાના દર્શને દુર દુરથી લોકો આવે..

દાદાની નિશ્રામાં બજરંગ ગૌશાળા ચાલે.. આ ગૌશાળાની ગાયો જોઈને ગાયની કેવી ચાકરી થાય એનો અંદાજ આવે..

ગૌશાળાની એક વિશાળ જગ્યામાં વૃક્ષો વાવવાનું આયોજન ગૌશાળા સાથે સંકળાયેલા સૌ પ્રિયજનોએ કર્યું અને અમે એમાં ભાગીદાર બન્યા.

ગૌશાળાએ જમીન ઉપરાંત તારની વાડ, ઝાડને પાણી આપવા માટે ટપક પદ્ધતિની વ્યવસ્થા ગામે ગોઠવી..

અમે 3000 વૃક્ષો વાવ્યા અને વૃક્ષમિત્ર જે વૃક્ષોને ઉછેરે, સાચવે એમને માસીક સેવક સહાય આપવાનું કરીએ... વચમાં વરસાદ પડ્યો ને થોડા વૃક્ષો બળ્યા તો એમણે સામે ચાલીને નવા માંગ્યા. મૂળ 3000 તો થવા જ જોઈએ એવી ભાવના વૃક્ષમિત્ર કરશનભાઈની..

અમે આ વર્ષે જે જગ્યાઓ પર વૃક્ષો કર્યા તેમાંથી વર્ષના અંતે જ્યાં સૌથી સારા વૃક્ષો થયા હશે તે વૃક્ષ મિત્રને તેમની મહેનત માટે 51,000નો પુરસ્કાર આપવાનું નક્કી કર્યું. ગેળાની ગૌશાળામાં સેવા આપતા સુબાભાઈએ આ સાંભળ્યું કે તુરત એમણે કહ્યું એ ઈનામ તો અમારુ જ..

વૃક્ષો જ્યાં ઉછેરી રહ્યા છે એ જગ્યા પર એક સુંદર નાનકડી તલાવડી પણ ગૌશાળા સાથે સંક્ળાયેલા સ્નેહીજનોએ કરી છે. પેલી કહેવત ગામનું પાણી ગામમાં ને સીમનું પાણી સીમમાં. એમ ગૌશાળાનું પાણી ગૌશાળાના આ તળાવમાં જાય..

એકદમ સુંદર અને સુઘડ વ્યવસ્થા ગૌશાળા સાથે સંકળાયેલા સ્નેહીજનોએ કરી છે.

વૃક્ષો માટે આટલો પ્રેમ દરેક ગામ દાખવે તો બનાસકાંઠો સુકો ન રહે..

વરસાદને પણ ધરતી મા પર પથરાયેલી લીલી ચાદર જોઈને વરસવા મજબૂર થવું પડે.. આ સ્થિતિ નિર્માણ થાય એ માટે સૌ કટીબદ્ધ થાય એ જરૃરી..

બાકી ઘણા વિસ્તારના તળ ખાલી થઈ રહ્યા છે.. અને કેનાલ ત્યાં પહોંચી નથી.. આમ આપણા હાથમાં જે છે એ કાર્ય થકી આપણી ધરતીને લીલુડી રાખવાનું કરીએ..

અમારા કાર્યકર નારણભાઈ, ઈશ્વરભાઈની સતત મહેનત અને દોડાદોડીના લીધે આ અભીયાન સફળ થઈ રહ્યુંછે..

Today Karshankaka called from Rapar, “Ben, please do anything to make my children reach here soon.” And speaking so kaka burst in tears.

Kaka always encourages me whenever I experience distress while doing my work. This time I had to console him. Assure him that I shall make the required arrangements to ensure his children reach home safe.

“But they do not have any money with them!!” he said with a heavy heart.

“I will give them, you please do not lose hope. I understand your children are not before your eyes but they are safe where ever they are, be patient all will be good!”

Finally, Kaka calmed down. I asked our Jayantibhai to arrange for this family to reach Rapar.

 Mashruba called from Unza to tell me that if we cannot be sent home at least give us something to eat.

 Thousands of stranded families require food, we too have been sharing such instances of daily wage-earning nomadic and marginalised communities in need of food where ever they are. VSSM has been striving to provide ration kits to these families with the support it requests and receives from its well-wishing donors.

481 families in Patan and Amreli received ration kits worth Rs. 700 each from the support we have received National Federation of Insurance Field Workers of India – NFIFWI.

We are grateful to NFIFWI Vadodara Division’s president Chetan Patel, Zonal Vice President Punit Bhatt and Secretary Dharmesh Pandya for supporting the cause.

We are immensely grateful to our dear Shri Bharatbhai Desai for connecting  us to the federation. He has been instrumental in making 2000 kits reach the needy.

દિલાસો આપે. આજે મે એમને દિલાસો આપી તેમના દીકરાઓને રાપર પોગાડવાની વ્યવસ્થા કરી દઈશ એમ કહ્યું.

'પણ એમની કને પૈસાય નથી' એવું કાકાએ ભારે હૈયે કહ્યું

મે કહ્યું, 'હું આપી દઈશ પણ આમ ઢીલા ના થાવ. તમારા બાળકો આંખ સામે નથી પણ છે એ મોટી વાત છે ને? તો જરા હામ રાખો..'

આખરે કાકા શાંત થયા. મે અમારા કાર્યકર જયંતીભાઈને આ પરિવારોને રાપર પહોંચાડવા જે વ્યવસ્થા કરવી પડે તે કરવા કહ્યું.

ઊંઝાથી મશરુબાનો ફોન પણ ઘરે પોગાડો નહીં તો ખાવાનાની વ્યવસ્થા કરાવો એ કહેવા આવ્યો.

આવા હજારો પરિવારો છે ક્યાંક કોઈ ફસાયુ છે તો ક્યાંક ખાવાની સામગ્રી તેમની પાસે નથીની વાતો..

અમે અમારી સાથે સંકળાયેલા સ્નેહીજનોની મારફત એમને રાશન પહોંચાડવાનું કરી રહ્યા છીએ.

પાટણ અને અમરેલીમાં રહેતા કુલ 481 પરિવારોને નેશનલ ફેડરેશન ઓફ ઈન્સ્યુરન્સ ફિલ્ડ વર્કર્સ ઓફ ઇન્ડિયા ( NFIFWI ) વડોદરા ડીવીઝન દ્વારા રાશન આપવામાં મદદ કરવામાં આવી. રૃપિયા 3,36,800ના અનુદાનમાંથી પ્રત્યેક વંચિત - વિચરતા પરિવારને 700 રૃપિયાની રાશનકીટ આપવામાં આવી.

“We have resided in Rajkot for decades. These jute shanties have not only been our homes  but of  generations before us. Never in our lives we have seen a washroom, toilets or cemented floor. At last we have a plot of land, we too shall build a home and have a bathroom, toilet, fans, lights and all. We too shall know what it is to have electric power life so far has been spent under the flikering candles and oil lamps. We are grateful to you for this piece of land!!”

Naviben Bavri was elated on receiving documents to her piece of land as she shared with us her simple aspirations.

The current living condition of these families

116 Bavri families have been wandering around Rajkot, while carrying the dreams of building a house and settling down. Apart from these Bawri families 72 Bhavaiya and Sadhu families too received residential plots. For years their  applications had been loitering around various tables in various government offices. We had shared these woes with our CM respected Shri Vijaybhai Rupani. It is his sensitivity along with District Collector Shri Ramya Mohan’s compassion that resulted into allotment of plots to these families. Additional Collector Shri Jawant Jegoda helped locate the files and push the applications forward. And  of course  the constant follow-ups by VSSM’s persistent team members Kanubhai and Chayaben’s efforts  remained crucial in ensuring these families receive their piece of land.

On 18th January 2020 the families received documents to their land in Rajkot’s Rampara Beti. On the occasion Shri Vijaybhai mentioned that he has  instructed all the district collectors to work towards providing residential plots to the nomadic families of their district.

We are grateful to the government and administration, their  sensitive approach will remain instrumental in providing a decent roof over the heads of  thousands of families who will soon become homeowners for the first time in many generations.

We are particularly thankful to of Shri D. S. Shah Saheb from Chief Minister’s office. It was his efforts that has been the reason the nomadic families will find an address of their own.

 We can never forget the efforts of respected Bhagwan Kaka who has remained constantly on our side “I have devoted my full time for the welfare of these communities!!”

'અમી રાજકોટમાં વર્ષોથી રીયા. નાનાથી મોટા થીયા પણ અમારી જીંદગીમાં કોઈ દિ બાથરૃમ, સંડાસ જોવા ન મઈલું. અમે ઝૂંપડાંમાં, કોથળામાં જ રીયા. કોઈ દી જીંદગીમાં સીમેન્ટ કે લાદી ઘરમાં નથી નાઈખી. હવે અમને જમીન મલી સે તે ઈમો કોટર બનાઈશું. અમને હવે બધું જોવા મલશે. બાથરૃમ, સંડાસ, મકામ, પંખા, લાઈટો બધુ જોવા મલશે. નકર દીવા અને મેણબત્તી બાળીન જીંદગી કાઢી. જમી આલી તે તમારો આભાર..'

રાજકોટમાં રહેતા 116 બાવરી પરિવારોએ આખી જીંદગી લબાચા લઈને રાજકોટ આસપાસમાં રઝળ્યા કર્યું. પોતાનું ઘર થાય એ માટેનું સ્વપ્ન ખરુ પણ..... બાવરી સિવાયના 72 ભવાયા અને સાધુ પરિવારોને પણ પ્લોટ ફાળવાયા.વર્ષોથી પ્લોટની માંગણી માટેની દરખાસ્તો સરકારી કચેરીમાં જમા પણ કામ થાય નહીં.

રાજ્યના #મુખ્યમંત્રી આદરણીય શ્રી #વિજયભાઈ_રૃપાણી સમક્ષ આ બધીયે બાબતોની વિગતે વાત થઈ તેમની અને આદરણીય #કલેક્ટર શ્રી રમ્યા મોહનની લાગણી ભળી. પ્રાંત કલેક્ટર તરીકે ચરનસિંહ ગોહીલ, જસવંત જેગોડા ત્યાં આવ્યા અને દરખાસ્તોની ફાઈલો શોધાઈ ને કામ આગળ ધપ્યું.સંસ્થાના કાર્યકર કનુભાઈ અને છાયાબહેનની સતત મહેનત. આખરે સ્વપ્ન સાકાર થયું. તા. 18 જાન્યુઆરીના રોજ માનનીય મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રીએ પોતાના હસ્તે આ પરિવારોને રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટની સનદ આપી.

રાજકોટ પાસે રામપરા બેટીમાં એમને પ્લોટ મળ્યા.મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રીએ કાર્યક્રમમાં તમામ જિલ્લા કલેક્ટર શ્રીઓને વિચરતી જાતિઓને પ્લોટ આપવાની સૂચના આપી દીધાની વાત પણ ભાર પૂર્વક કહી.

આભાર વહીવટીતંત્ર અને સરકારનો. આપની લાગણીના લીધે જ હજારો પરિવારો આવનારા વખતમાં ઘરવાળા થવાને એ નક્કી..

મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી તેમજ મુખ્યમંત્રી કાર્યાલયમાં કામ કરતા ડી.એચ.શાહ સાહેબનો વિશેષ આભાર. તેમની લાગણીના લીધે જ આ બધું થઈ રહ્યું છે...

આદરણીય ભગવાન કાકા તો સતત સાથે એમને તો કેમ ભૂલાય. એ કહે એમ, હવે ફૂલ ટાઈમ આ જાતિઓના કલ્યાણ અર્થે...સૌ પ્રિયજનોનો આભાર

જેમણે આ કામમાં સહયોગ કર્યો છે...ફોટોમાં પ્લોટની સનદ આપતા આદરણીય મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી, તેમજ સનદ મળી ગયા પછી આપણો આપણો બધાનો એક ફોટો લઈએ એમ કહીને સનદ મેળવનાર સૌ સાથે ઊભા રહ્યા...અને છેલ્લે હાલમાં આ પરિવારો જ્યાં રહે છે તે પણ જોઈ શકાય છે.

Why is it that the desserts or rann have sparse  or no human inhabitants? Correct, because they are devoid of water and vegetation. They have no trees and hence no shade. Life does not exist without trees and water, a fact even a 4th grader would know!! How did we forget it? How did we loose the sensitivity towards nature and our environment.

VSSM’s core work is with the nomadic and de-notified communities, the communities that survive under the elements. For them to be able to live under the shades of the trees they will need trees and  they will  also need water from common resources. With the destruction of the green cover around us and water becoming increasingly scarce, the chances of nomads or even us living peacefully in near future are faint.

It is for this reason that we have decided to begin intensive work on water conservation and tree plantation.

VSSM has charted a list of prerequisites for conducting a tree plantation drive in a particular village, the village whose  leadership prepared to meet the listed requirements will be selected for plantation drive during the first phase.

After Banaskantha, we have had series of meetings in Mehsana’s Khanusa, Sodkha and Pilvai villages and Gandhinagar’s Charda village. The village leadership in all these villages is prepared to take the tree plantation drive forward in their village but the community has to be consulted for their participation. We have scheduled a second round of meetings with them for the same.

The sites selected for the plantation drive in these villages are very beautiful and appropriate. The next round of meetings will ensure how much the villages are  prepared to commit themselves for financial contribution as well as affirming to take care of the trees planted during the drive. VSSM is insisting for community partnership and contribution because we want them to take ownership of the initiative and not allow it to become VSSM driven program. For the trees to flourish and lakes to brim with water it is important that villagers treat these and other common resources are their own.

વૃક્ષ વગર જીવન શક્ય નથી એ વાત સૌએ સમજવી ખુબ અગત્યની..

આમ તો અમારુ મુખ્યકામ વિચરતી વિમુક્ત જાતિઓના ઉત્થાનનું પણ અમે જેમના માટે કામ કરીએ છીએ એ લોકોને પણ સુખેથી રહેવું હશે તો પાણી અને વૃક્ષ તો જોઈશે જ.

વળી પાણી બચાવવાની અને વૃક્ષો ઉછેરવા માટે જોઈએ તેવી સંવેદનશીલતા આપણી છે નહીં. 

માટે એક અભીયાનના રૃપમાં આ દિશામાં કામ કરવાનું નક્કી કર્યું છે.

પ્રથમ તબક્કામાં પોતાના ગામમાં વૃક્ષારોપણ માટે અમારી શરતોને આધિન કામ કરવા તૈયાર ગામોમાં અમે વૃક્ષારોપણ કરવાનું કરીશું.

મહેસાણાના ખણુસા, સોખડા અને પીલવાઈગામમાં તેમજ ગાંધીનગરના ચરાડાગામમાં આ બાબતે બેઠક થઈ. સરપંચ અને ગામના કેટલાક જાગૃત યુવાનો આ કામ માટે તૈયાર છે. 

પણ ગામના સૌ સહભાગીતા દર્શાવે એ માટે હજુ એક બેઠક ગામના

જાગૃત નાગરિકો સાથે કરવાનું કરીશું. પછી આ ગામોમાં વૃક્ષારોપણ કરીશું.

ગામે વૃક્ષારોપણ માટે જે જગ્યા પસંદ કરી છે તે ખુબ સરસ છે...

ખાલી જોવાનું છે ગામનો સહયોગ એમાં આર્થિક પણ અને ઝાડની માવજતનો પણ કેટલો મળે છે અને એ માટે તેઓ કેટલા કટીબદ્ધ છે.

કટીબદ્ધતા દર્શાવશે તો ત્યાં કામ કરીશું એ નક્કી... બાકી આ કાર્યક્રમ અમારો ના બનતા ગામલોકોનો બને તો જ કામ કર્યાનો ખરો આનંદ આવે...

ગામોના સરપંચ અને આગેવાનો સાથે કરેલી મુલાકાત તેમજ વૃક્ષારોપણ માટે પસંદ કરેલી જગ્યા ફોટોમાં જોઈ શકાય છે.

Mittal Patel with Mohammadbhai Dafer at their Danga

Mohammadbhai Dafer follows what I say without any arguments. He is of my father’s age. He often advises like a father too- “ don’t go in scorching sunlight.. take care of your health and so on and so forth…”

I scold him a lot when he doesn’t listen to me. “I won’t talk to you. I will not come to your Danga..” then he says, “ it’s okay, I am sorry. You are like our mother, we will take care of that next time..”

I have different sort of relations with all of them.. It is amazing and real family. 

It has been a tradition of accompanying me till the car since last ten years…

મોહમ્મદભાઈ ડફેર કશીએ દલીલ વગર મારી બધી વાત માને. ઉંમરમાં મારા પિતા જેવા ક્યારેક પિતાની જેમ સમજાવેય ખરા- ‘ખરો તડકો માથે નહીં લેવાનો. તબીયતનું ધાન રાખવાનું વગેરે વગેરે...’

જો કે ક્યારેય કોઈ બાબતમાં અમારુ માન્યુ ના હાય તો હું બહુ લડુએ ખરી. ‘વાત નહીં કરુ તમારી સાથે. નહીં આવું હવે ડંગે’ ત્યારે કહી દે ‘હશે બેન માફ કરી દો તમે અમારા માવીતર છો હવે ધાન રાખીશું...’

અજીબ સંબંધો છે આ બધા સાથે એક અદભૂત પણ સાચો મારો પરિવાર...

ડંગામાંથી નીકળુ પછી છેક ગાડી સુધી મુકવા આવવાનો સીરસ્તો છેલ્લા દસ વર્ષથી ચાલુ ....
