Vruksh Mitro - The individuals who nurture and help the trees grow. However, we choose to call them Mother of the trees.
VSSM appoints a Vruksh-Mitra at each plantation site it has planted trees. Every month the VSSM team members also take an account of the work a Vruksh Mitra undertakes.
In 2019-20, VSSM planted trees at 21 sites hence, appointed as many Vruksh-Mitra. The Vruksh-Mitra who have performed their role with utmost dedication and remained instrumental in raising the planted trees were ranked from 1 to 3 and presented with a cash award of Rs. 51,000 ; Rs. 21,000 and Rs. 11,000 respectively along with a certificate of appreciation at a recently organised event to applaud the work of these silent warriors. The event was held on 22nd September 2021 at Palanpur.
The awards to the best performing Vruksha Mitra and the Vruksh Mandli that assists them were presented by District Collector respected Shri Anandbhai Patel.
In the first place was Vruksha Mitra Karshanbhai Rajput (Bhagat) from Lakhni’s Geda village. In the second place was Makhanu’s Mohanbhai Vajir. There was a close competition for the third spot with Dhramabhai Tarak and Amrakaka Patel of Juna Golvina and Aratji Thakor of Soneth village vying for the same spot. It was hard for us to choose between the two hence, decided to give the third spot to both these Vruksha Mitra.
Our objective is to encourage healthy competition and create a win-win situation for all. We also want people to come forward voluntarily and take up the cause of environmental protection. The post-event meet and greet revealed the fact that we might be succeeding in our intent as the Vriksha Mitra who did not succeed came forward to inquire on the gaps with their fulfilment of the role. The Vriksha Mitra of all 21 plus 33 sites where we have planted 1,20,000 trees emphasised they will try their best to be next year’s winners.
Hopefully, we have strong competition next year.
“Trees not only help us bring rains and conserve the environment, but they also provide shelter to many other living beings. Hence, we must protect and nurture trees.” Shri Anandbhai shared his thoughts at the event while congratulating the winner and wishing the best to all the Vriksha Mitra. Anandbhai sanctioned a grant of Rs 2 lacs (Rs. 8 lacs in total) each, for all the winning villages for their noteworthy work towards environment protection.
VSSM also applauded the determination and hard work of its team members Naranbhai Raval, Ishwarbhai Raval and Bhagwanbhai Raval with a felicitation certificate and Rs. 11,000 each in cash. It is the efforts of the grassroots team that enables VSSM to inch closer to its goal.

વૃક્ષોને સાવનાર – ઉછેરનાર વૃક્ષમિત્રો આમ તો એમને અમે વૃક્ષોની મા કહીએ..
આવા વૃક્ષમિત્રો અમે જ્યાં વૃક્ષો વાવીએ તે દરેક સાઈટ પર રાખીએ. વળી દર મહિને આ વૃક્ષમિત્રોએ કેવું કામ કર્યું તેનો હિસાબ પણ VSSM ટીમ લે..
2019-20માં અમે 21 જગ્યા પર વૃક્ષો વાવ્યા તેને ઉછેરવા વૃક્ષમિત્રો રાખ્યા. આ 21 જગ્યામાંથી જે જગ્યાના વૃક્ષમિત્રોએ ઉત્તમ રીતે વૃક્ષોની માવજત કરી વૃક્ષોનું બરાબર પોષણ કર્યું તેવા વૃક્ષોમિત્રોને પ્રથમ, દ્વિતીય અને તૃતિય ક્રમ આપી અનુક્રમે 51,000, 21,000 અને 11,000ના રોકડ પુરસ્કાર સાથે પ્રસસ્તીપત્ર આપી સન્માનવાનો કાર્યક્રમ તા.22 સપ્ટેમ્બર 2021ના રોજ પાલનપુરમાં આયોજીત થયો.
ઉત્તમ કાર્ય કરનાર વૃક્ષમિત્રો તેમજ તેમને સહકાર આપનાર વૃક્ષમંડળીઓને સન્માન તેમજ રોકડ પુરસ્કાર આદરણીય કલેક્ટર શ્રી આનંદભાઈ પટેલના હસ્તે આપવામાં આવ્યો.
પ્રથમ ક્રમે લાખણીના ગેળાગામના વૃક્ષમિત્ર કરશનભાઈ રાજપુત(ભગત) રહ્યા. દ્વિતીય ક્રમે મખાણુના વૃક્ષમિત્ર મોહનભાઈ વજીર રહ્યા.
તૃતિય ક્રમ માટે બે ગામના વૃક્ષમિત્રો પ્રબળ દાવેદાર. જેમાં જૂનાગોલવીના ધર્માભાઈ તરક તેમજ અમરાકાકા પટેલ અને સોનેથગામના અરતજી ઠાકોરનો સમાવેશ થાય. જો કે અમારા માટે બેમાંથી કોઈ એકની પસંદગી કરવી ઘણી મુશ્કેલ હતી છેવટે અમે બેય ગામના વૃક્ષમિત્રોને સન્માનીત કર્યા.
આ સન્માન પાછળનો આશય લોકો સ્વયં ભૂ આ બાબતે જાગૃત થાય ને વાવેલા તમામ વૃક્ષો ઉછરે તેની કાળજી કરતા થાય તે. અમારો આ આશય બર પણ આવ્યો હોય એવું કાર્યક્રમ પત્યા પછી લાગ્યું. મૂળ જેમના સન્માન ન થયા એમણે પોતાની કચાશ ક્યાં રહી તેવું પુછ્યું તો આ વર્ષે અમે 21 ઉપરાંત નવી 33 જગ્યા પર 1,20,000 વૃક્ષો ઉછેરવાના આશય સાથે વાવ્યા તે તમામ વૃક્ષોમિત્રોએ આવતી વખતે અમે સ્ટેજ પર સન્માન સ્વીકારીશું બેન.. એવું ભારપૂર્વક કહ્યું..
ચાલો મજબૂત હરિફાઈ થશે એવું લાગી રહ્યું છે...
કલેક્ટર શ્રી આનંદભાઈએ પ્રકૃતિના રક્ષક એવા વૃક્ષમિત્રોને શુભેચ્છા પાઠવી તેમજ ચારેય ગામના લોકોને આવા પર્યાવરણ લક્ષી કાર્યો કરવા માટે પોતાની ગ્રાન્ટમાંથી બે બે લાખ એમ કુલ આઠ લાખની ગ્રાન્ટ આપવા કહ્યું. વૃક્ષો પર્યાવરણનું સમતુલન તો કરે પણ સાથે સાથે હજારો જીવોનું એ ઘર છે માટે એના જતનનું કાર્ય બહુ મોટું એવું પણ એમણે ભારપૂર્વક કહ્યું.
વૃક્ષ ઉછેર કાર્યમાં સંસ્થાની બનાસકાંઠાની ટીમના કાર્યકરોમાંથી ઉત્તમ સેવા આપનાર નારણભાઈ રાવળ, ઈશ્વરભાઈ રાવળ તેમજ ભગવાન ભાઈ રાવળનું પણ સન્માનપત્રક તેમજ 11,000ના રોકડ પુરસ્કારથી સન્માન કરવામાં આવ્યું. મૂળ આ બધા પાયાના કાર્યકરો તેમની સતત દોડાદોડીથી આ બધુ થઈ શકે..
