In the earlier days, the farmers would begin to have an easier workload after the Rabi crop was harvested because the groundwater wasn’t explored yet hence there was no possibility of farming during summers.  “So what did they do during this free time?” is an obvious thought that crosses our mind.

Do you think they spent their time ideally? Never! It is not in a farmer’s nature to sit still. They would till their soil and prepare their farms for the next season. They would repair and restore traditional water sources of their own and that of the village. Yes, they never depended on anybody else to come and take care of the water sources of their village. Today we depend on the government to come and take care of common property resources of our villages.

When we initiated the participatory water conservation works in Banaskantha the first condition was that the community will contribute both in the form of action and funds. The soil excavated by VSSM funded JCBs will be carried away by tractors that the community members will bring. Also, the villagers will have to contribute in cash to raise a corpus to work on the maintenance of the water sources of their village. The amount of the contribution of each household will depend on their capacity. However, the community hasn’t been prepared to provide cash contributions.

“We did send our tractors, so why money?”

“These are the lakes in your village, so you need to contribute.”

It is very difficult to get someone to contribute in cash.

If there are 300  houses in a village and each contributed Rs. 500 for upkeeping the lakes of their villages, the figure will be a decent Rs. 1.5 lacs. However, they would choose to spend the amount in any random expense over donating to maintain the lakes.

“The lake isn’t mine, so why to donate?” they argue.

“The lake is from your village when it brims with water it is also you who will benefit from it.”

I receive calls from many Sanpanch saying many villagers aren’t prepared to donate in cash.

And amidst such a discouraging scenario, the Kuvarva villages has performed beyond our expectations. The tractors arrived on schedule, they have already collected Rs. 50,000 in cash and more are on the way. We will be spending Rs. 5 lacs for the deepening on this lake plus a lac as community contribution will bring the amount to Rs. 6 lacs.

The pleasure of working in villages where villagers are supportive and understanding is beyond comprehension. It reflects the progressive mindset of the villagers. It shows they do not believe in charity neither do they like to be dependent on government and others for their needs. I hope other villages too draw inspiration from Kuvarva.

પહેલાંના સમયમાં ફાગણ ઉતરતા ખેતીકામમાંથી ખેડૂતો નવરા થવા માંડતા...

એ વેળા બોરવેલ નહોતા એટલે ઉનાળુ પાક કરવાની સંભાવના નહોતી...

ત્યારે સ્વાભાવીક ખેડૂતો કે ગામના લોકો ઉનાળામાં શું કરતા? તે પ્રશ્ન થાય.

રખેને નવરા બેસી રહેતા એવું કહેતા.. કારણ નવરા બેસી રહેવાનું આ કામગરા માણસોને ફાવે નહીં.

પોતાના ખેતરો ખેડી ચોમાસા માટે તૈયાર કરવાનું ખેડૂતો કરે સાથે પાણી સંગ્રહના સંશાધનો ઠીક કરવાનું તેઓ કરતા.

હા, ગામના તળાવો ગાળવનાનું તેઓ કોઈનીયે મદદ લીધા વગર જાતે કરતા.

આજે આપણે સૌ સરકાર પર આધારિત થઈ ગયા છીએ. મારા ગામનું તળાવ હું શું કામ ગાળુ સરકાર ગાળશે એવું આપણે જરાય શરમ વગર બોલીએ છીએ..

અમે તળાવો ગાળવાનું બનાસકાંઠામાં શરૃ કર્યું. શરત એટલી જ કે માટી ગામ ઉપાડે એ ઉપરાંત ફાળો આપવાનો. આ ફાળો ગામલોકો પોતાની મરજી મુજબ આપે. આ ફાળો પણ એમના ગામના તળાવ ગાળવામાં જ પાછો વપરાવવાનો પણ લોકો ફાળા માટે ઝટ રાજી થતા નથી.

ટ્રેક્ટર તો આપ્યા. હવે ફાળો કેમ?

હું કહુ છુ તમારા ગામનું તળાવ ગળાય એમાં તમારી હીસ્સેદારી નોંધાય માટે..

પણ બહુ અઘરુ છે કોઈના ખીસ્સામાંથી રૃપિયો કઢાવવો..

ગામમાં 300 ઘર હોય અને દરેક ઘર 500 તળાવ માટે આપે તોય ફાળો દોઢ લાખ થાય પણ આમ તેમ વાપરી નંખાતા 500 તળાવ જે સાર્વજનીક છે તેને સરખુ કરવા હું શું કામ આપું તેવું લોકો માને છે..

અરે ભાઈ તમારા ગામનું તળાવ છે. પાણી ભરાશે તો તમને જ ફાયદો થશે..

ખેર ઘણા ગામના સરપંચોના ફોન આવે છે તળાવ ગાળવા પણ ફાળાની વાતમાં સૌ મોળા પડે છે..

પણ કાંકરેજનું કુવારવા ગામ જરા નોખુ છે..

માટી ઉપાડવા ટ્રેકટર તો આપ્યા એ ઉપરાંત પચાસ હજારનો ફાળો આપ્યો. હજુ વધારે એકત્રીત કરવાની એમની ગણતરી છે. અમે આ ગામમાં તળાવ પાછળ પાંચ લાખ ખર્ચ કરીશું. સાથે તેમનો ફાળો જો એકાદ લાખ આવે તો છ લાખ તળાવ ખોદકામમાં વપરાશે..

ગામની ભાગીદારી હશે તો અમનેય કામ કરવું ગમશે.. કોઈને કહી શકીશું. ગામો જાગ્યા છે. સાવ ધર્માદુ લેવાની એમની ખેવના નથી ને સરકાર પર આધારિત નથી..

કુંવારવાની જેમ અન્ય ગામો જાગે એવી ભાવના....

Summer is just around the corner, the scorching heat and record-breaking temperatures will once again trigger our seasonal concern for water, trees, environment and all that results in rising temperatures.

However, even after back to back years of record heat we haven’t learnt to live the proverb, ‘a stitch in time saves nine’. We will continue to wait for others to address the issue. We worry about our home, our savings, bank balance and likes because it is not the government’s responsibility. Had it been their concern we would have stopped caring about that too!! Correct?

The environment is a shared legacy, protecting it is everyone’s concern. The summer heat will make all of us shout and make a noise of the efforts required to curtail those but once the rains arrive, the temperatures cool down and the downpour also cools down our tempo.

Since the past three years, VSSM has taken up the responsibility of doing its bit for environment protection, focusing on water conservation and restoration of traditional water sources.

The efforts to repair the community lakes in the villages was initiated in January and not May-June when summer is at its peak. We have been meeting the village leaders. In a recent meeting at Banaskantha’s Vada village in Kankrej block, we had a detailed discussion on why is it essential to contribute to these efforts of lake deepening. The JCB expenses are borne by VSSM, the excavated mud is picked up by the village community and the villagers contribute in cash for the maintenance of water sources. And it is not a very nominal amount of accumulated corpus we are seeking. The amount has to be considered so that the maintenance happens regularly and efficiently.

The communities in rural areas will benefit only when the lakes will deepen, and hold the rainwater into it. Why depend on government for all such needs. Yes, if it happens nothing like it but consider it an added benefit. Do what we have to do, whatever is our responsibility.

When one fails to protect common property resources they become history. There are numerous examples of lakes encroached upon and being used to farm. ‘once upon a time there was a lake here…’ we have heard this at countless places.


We are driving our efforts to include the villagers to take responsibility for their resources. We are reaching out to villagers, organising meetings to evoke this sense of responsibility and duty in them.

Lake Deeping Work

ઉનાળો શરૃ થશે એટલે આપણે સૌ ઝાડ, પાણી ટૂંકમાં પર્યાવરણની ચિંતા સેવવાનું શરૃ કરીશું.

પણ આપણી પેલી કહેવત પાણી પહેલાં પાળ બાંધવાનું આપણાથી બહુ થતું નથી. ઘર, બચત વગેરેનું આયોજન આપણે કરવું પડે એટલે એ કરીએ જો કે મને ક્યારેક થાય જો આ આયોજન પણ સરકાર કરી દેતી હોત તો આપણે એય કરવાની દરકાર કરીએ નહીં.

સાર્વજનીક સંપતિ એવા પર્યાવરણના જતનથી લઈને માવજત અંગે ઉનાળો શરૃ થતા વિચાર આવે અને બે ચાર મહિના તો ચારે બાજુ કુકવા કરીએ મુકીએ. પણ પછી વરસાદ પડે અને એના નીર ભેગી આપણી રાડારાડ વહી જાય. ટૂંકમાં ટાઢુ પાણી ફરી વળે.

અમે પર્યાવરણ જતન સંદર્ભે કેટલુંક નક્કર કરવાનું છેલ્લા ત્રણેક વર્ષથી અમારી નૈતિક જવાબદારી સમજીને કરી રહ્યા છીએ. જેમાંનું મુખ્ય જળ સંગ્રાહાલયોને પુનર્જીવીત કરવાનું છે.

ગામના તળાવો સાબદા કરવાનું અભિયાન મે – જુન મહિનામાં નહીં પણ જાન્યુઆરીથી આરંભવાનું નક્કી કર્યું અને તે સંદર્ભે ગ્રામજનો સાથે બેઠકો કરવાનું શરૃ કર્યું છે.

બનાસકાંઠાના કાંકરેજ તાલુકાના વડામાં આવી બેઠક આયોજીત કરી અને ગામલોકોએ પોતાનું યોગદાન તળાવ ગાળવા કેમ આપવું એની વિસ્તારથી ચર્ચા થઈ.

તળાવ ગાળવા જેસીબી VSSM આપે, માટી ઉપાડવાનું કામ ગામલોકો પોતાના ટ્રેકટરોથી કરે આ ઉપરાંત ગામલોકો ફાળો ભેગો કરે. વળી આ ફાળો પાંચ પચીસ કે પચાસ હજાર નહીં પણ માતબર થાય એ માટે અમે કોશીશ કરી રહ્યા છીએ.

મૂળ તો તળાવ ગળાશે, પાણી ભરાશે તો ગામને જ ફાયદો થશે. વળી દરેક કામ સરકાર કરી આપે એવી આશા શું કામ રાખવાની. આપણી પોતાનીએ જવાબદારી છે. સરકાર કરે તો એ નફાનું એમ સમજવું પણ મારી જવાબદારી સમજી હું એમાં યોગદાન આપું તે થાય તે જરૃરી.

વળી આ થાય તો જ જાહેર સંપતિ એવા તળાવો સચવાશે બાકી તળાવ પુરીને ખેતી કરનારાના દાખલા ક્યાં ઓછા છે..

એક હતું તળાવ જેવી સ્થિતિ નિર્માણ ન પામે તે માટે અમે ગામલોકોની ભાગીદારી મહત્તમ તળાવ ખોદકામમાં આવે તે માટે પ્રયત્નશીલ છીએ અને એના જ ભાગરૃપે ગામલોકો સાથે બેઠકો તેમનો માંહ્યલો જગડાવા માટે કરી રહ્યા છીએ.

ત્રણ વર્ષ કરતા આ વર્ષે લોકભાગીદારીમાં સારો સહયોગ મળશે તેવું જણાઈ રહ્યું છે..

‘તારુ દીધેલું તુજને વળાવું’ ધરતી માને આવું કહેવાનો વખત આવી ગયો છે..

ઉપરોક્ત લખ્યા મુજબની અને એ સિવાયની ઘણી લાંબી પારાયણો ગામલોકો સાથે કરીએ એ અને વડાનું જે તળાવ ગાળવાનું છે એ બધુયે કેમેરામાં કેદ..

કાંકરેજનું વડાગામ તો જાગી ગયું પણ તમે જાગ્યા ????

Caring and nurturing the common property resources was the responsibility of all, the villagers ensured that all of these were well taken care of. Hence, there were certain days earmarked in a year when the villagers would collectively do the maintenance jobs required for up-keeping these resources.

This was shared to us by Bhagwanbhai, the Sarpanch of Sui village,  when we were working on deepening the lake in his village. A short video shares Bhagwanbhai’s enlightening talk, do find  time and listen to it. The wisdom behind these traditional practices is the reason the communities faced fewer challenges in the past.

All of us who understand the value of water, draw water from underground, have forgotten our duty to deepen the lakes that were instrumental in recharging the groundwater.

After a lot of convincing, meetings, discussions, hassles to sensitise people toward the need to conserve water and to contribute for preserving their resources we have deepened 70 lakes in Banaskantha with community participation and contribution. But 70 is nothing. There is a  need to upscale the efforts to do 1000s more.

The monsoon has arrived and we have suspended our task of deepening the lakes.

However, my humble request and advise is once the monsoon is over spare a day, come together, bring your tractors along, collect contribution to hire a JCB and deepen the lakes of your village. This is a task much crucial  and required than building temples.

If we decide to work 8 days in eight months the lakes will thrive and so would the life the  water  of these lakes support. If this

happens no one will need to say, “I don’t remember when was this lake last deepened!!” If we remain diligent there will be no need to teach our coming generations they will learn from observing us perform our responsibility.

VSSM’s Naran and Bhagwan are tirelessly working  to prepare and sensitise the village leaders and population. It is an honour to have them on our team.

એવું સુઈગામના દુધવા ગામના સરપંચ ભગવાનભાઈએ કહ્યું. 

તેમના ગામમાં અમે તળાવ કર્યું એ વખતે તેમની સાથે થયેલી વાત વિડીયોમાં છે.. સમય કાઢી સાંભળજો.. ઘણું સમજાશે...

સરકાર કે કોઈ સંસ્થાની મદદ વગર ગામલોકો પોતાની રીતે આ કામ કરતા. 

પાણીનું મહત્વ સમજનારા આપણે લોકો આજે તળાવ ઊંડા કરવાની આપણી પોતાની જવાબદારી ભૂલી ગયા છીએ..

બનાસકાંઠામાં અમે 70 તળાવ ગામોને સાથે રાખી, તેમની સાથે માથાકૂટ કરી, તેમને સમજાવી લોકભાગીદારીથી કરી શક્યા પણ 70 થી કશુંયે ના થાય.

પેલું આભા ફાટ્યું છે ત્યાં થીંગડું ક્યાં દેવું એવો તકાજો છે..

ચોમાસું આવ્યું હવે તળાવ ગાળવાનું બંધ કર્યું. પણ ચોમાસા પછી મહિનામાં એક દિવસ પોતાના ટ્રેક્ટર અને ગામ ફાળો ભેગો કરીને જેસીબી લાવી પોતાના ગામનું તળાવ ગાળવાનું સૌ કરજો. આ તો મંદિર બાંધવા કરતાય મોટુ ધર્માદુ છે...

આઠ મહિનામાં આવી રીતે આઠ દિવસ કામ થશે તોય ખોદાયેલા તળાવોમાં જમા થયેલો કાંપ નીકળી જશે અને તળાવ તળાવ જેવા રહેશે.

પછી કોઈને કહેવું નહીં પડે કે અમને યાદ નથી અમારુ તળાવ ક્યારે ગળાયું હતું.. એ ગાળેલું જ દેખાશે...

આ કામ આપણે કરીશું.. તો આપણી પછીની પેઢીને તળાવનું મહત્વ સમજાવવુંયે નહીં પડે એ તો વધારોનો નફો... એ પોતાની આપણને જોઈને જ સમજી જશે...

દુધવા ગામમાં તળાવ ખોદાઈ રહ્યું તે વેળા ગામના સરપંચ અને અન્યોને મળવાનું થયું તેની તસવીર...

કાર્યકર નારણ અને ભગવાને ખુબ મહેનત કરી ગામોને સરસ રીતે તૈયાર કર્યા...આવા કાર્યકરો અમારી પાસે હોવાનો અમને ગર્વ છે..

During 2018-19 with the support from our well -wishers and communities, VSSM has managed to finish deepening of 70 lakes. Thank you all for welcoming  the idea and standing by us.

We dream of making Banaskantha green, and the first step towards it was saving the water and recharging the water ground water level. To enable the idea, we initiated the process of  deepening the lakes under the guidance of respected Shri Rashminbhai. The first couple of years 2016 and 2017  remained tremendously difficult. Mostly because the village communities refused to support. They would donate generously, in lakhs towards construction of bird feeders and temples around their village but when asked to ferry the excavated soil resulting from the deepening of lake, no one was prepared to do it for free!! Under such circumstances, to ask them to make financial contribution towards  the  task  of lake deepening  was out of question.

The mammoth task seemed challenging nonetheless, we weren’t prepared to make any amendments in our list of prerequisites. Amidst extreme working conditions we managed to deepen just 17 villages until 2017. Gradually, the village elders and communities began to understand us and in 2018-19 we have successfully deepened 70 lakes.

Our well-wishing friends have played an important role in the process, even the government aided deepening of 15 lakes and the cherry on the cake has been  the support we have received from the communities. The wisdom and large heartedness they have portrayed is worth saluting.

We are glad to witness this change with people coming together to give back all we have taken from our mother Earth.

After water it is trees we are planning to focus on, with the  upcoming Tree Plantation drive we have planned in Banaskantha villagers have already begun working for it. Before the onset of monsoon they have begun digging pits, filling it up with organic manure. Once the rains arrive we shall start planting  native trees in these villages.

VSSM has specially appointed a team to work on the tree plantation drive. Hope together we achieve the most.

And to the Mother Earth, hope we all understand your pain and give back all that we have taken from you.

 સૌના સહયોગથી 2018-19માં અમે બનાસકાંઠાના 70 તળાવોનું કામ પુર્ણ કરી શક્યા.. આપ સૌ પ્રિયજનો આગળ આ કામની વધામણી...

બનાસકાંઠાને હરિયાળુ કરવાનું સ્વપ્ન અમે સેવ્યું. પહેલું કામ તળાવો ઊંડા કરવાનું આદરણીય રશ્મીનભાઈના માર્ગદર્શનથી શરૃ કર્યું.

પણ 2016 થી લઈને 2017સુધીમાં આ કામમાં ઘણી તકલીફ પડી. લોકો સહયોગ ના કરે. 

ગામમાં મંદિર બાંધવા કે ચબુતરા કરવા લાખો રૃપિયા ભેગા થાય પણ તળાવ ખોદાય એની માટી મફત કોઈ ના ઉપાડે. આવામાં ગામ ફાળો આપે એ વાત તો વિચારી જ નહોતી શકાતી.

પણ અમે તળાવ ખોદાવવામાં કરેલા નિયમોમાં કોઈ બાંધછોડ નહોતા કરવા ઈચ્છતા એટલે તકલીફો વચ્ચે 2017 સુધીમાં માંડ 17 તળાવો ખોદાવી શક્યા હતા.

પણ પછી લોકો અમને સમજ્યા અમે લોકોને અમે સમજાવી શક્યા ને 2018-19માં અમે 70 તળાવો કર્યા.

આ તળાવો ઊંડા કરવામાં vssmસાથે સંક્ળાયેલા સ્નેહીજનોએ ખુબ સહયોગ કર્યો. સાથે 15 જેટલા તળાવો ઊંડા કરવા સરકારે પણ મદદ કરી. અને હા ગામની મદદ માટે તો ગામલોકોને પ્રણામ કરવા ઘટે...

રાજીપો.. ઘરતીનું ઋણ ચુકવાનું સુંદર કાર્ય થઈ શક્યું.

હવે વારો છે ઝાડ વાવવાનો.. શરૃઆત કરી દીધી છે. જે ગામો અમને સમજ્યા છે એ ગામોએ તો ખાડા કરવાનું અને તેમાં ખાતર ભરવાનું શરૃ કરી દીધું છે. આગામી દિવસોમાં ઝાડ વાવવાનું કરીશું.

વૃક્ષઉછેર માટેની અમારી નવી ટીમ પણ આ માટે તૈયાર થઈ ગઈ છે..

આશા છે ઉત્તમ કરવાની..

ને હે મા ધરતી તારુ દીધેલું વાલી મા તુજ ને ધરાવું.... 

એવી શુભ ભાવના સાથે સમગ્ર ધરતી પુત્રો તારી પીડા સમજે ને તારુ દોહેલું તને પાછુ આપે એવી તને જ પ્રાર્થના...

It’s time we give back all that we have lynched from nature….

Imagine life without air and water!!! We inherited an earth full of dense forest, thriving flora, fauna and abundant of water all around. Civilizations birthed and shaped around water.

Water is the most precious element on earth. And conserving water was of primary importance in the past. In water scarce areas making special provisions for water,  like step wells, well, lakes was considered to be a noble work. Communities and village elders took care of common  water sources. They followed an annual calendar of cleaning and desilting  village wells and lakes. Even today,  providing water to the thirsty is considered to be the most righteous work. And this is true to the core. A task like deepening and desilting lake benefits not just the humans but the birds and animals, trees and earth…

VSSM has taken up the task of desilting the lakes of Banaskantha, a water starved district of Gujarat. It carries this task with support from its well-wishing friends,  by partnering with the village leadership. The village communities are explained the reason of falling water levels and how they can contribute to VSSM’s efforts. Whereever the communities have comprehended our efforts the entire task is accomplished with ease and work brings desired results.

Recently,  we were in Kankrej block’s Padardi village. The village has agreed to lift the excavated mud but we would be happier if they agreed to raise money and  contribute to this effort just like Mudetha, Khadol and many other villages did.

We have to think collectively on giving back all that we have extorted from soil , we are grateful to all of you who have joined hands in this task of immense public service.

Naranbhai has been careful in selecting villages that are prepared to cooperate and contribute. The will to join hands in meaningful and constructive activities eases lots of challenges that usually  emerge once the work starts. Thank you Naranbhai for the thought you put in each task.

તારુ દીધેલું વાલા તુજને ધરાવું....

પાણી અને શુદ્ધ હવા વગર જીવવું અશક્ય. પૃથ્વી બની ત્યારે જંગલ આચ્છાદીત હતી. 

પાણીના સ્ત્રોતો પણ જ્યાં હતા ત્યાં ભરપુર હતા. પણ જ્યાં પાણી બારેમાસ મળવાનું સંભવ નહોતું ત્યા માણસે પાણી સંગ્રહ માટે શું થઈ શકે તે વિચારી વાવ, કુવા, તળાવો ગાળવાનું કર્યું.

અને વખતો વખત તળાવો ગળાતા રહ્યા. ને એનો ફાયદો સૌ મેળવતા રહ્યા. 

આજેય તળાવ ગળાવવા એ કોઈ યજ્ઞથી કમ નથી એવું ગામલોકો કહે છે.

પાપ પુણ્યનો હિસાબ માંડીએ તો લોકો કહે, તળાવ ગળાવવામાં મદદરૃપ થવું એનાથી મોટુ કોઈ પુણ્ય નથી... આ વાત સો ટકા સાચી. તળાવથી માનવ વસતિને તો ફાયદો થાય સાથે સાથે પશુપંખી, ઝાડ પાન બધાયને ફાયદો...

આ ફાયદાની વાતો કરીને તળાવો ઊંડા કરવા ને સાથે ગામ પણ પોતોનું યથા યોગ્ય દાન આપે એ માટે આપણે ગામને સમજાવીએ છીએ.

જે સમજે ત્યાં રૃડુ કામ થઈ રહ્યું છે.

તાજેતરમાં બનાસકાંઠાના કાંકરેજ તાલુકાના પાદરડીગામમાં તળાવ ગાળવાનું શરૃ કર્યું.

માટી ઉપાડવાનું ગામે પોતાના માથે લીધુ. આ વાતથી તો રાજી. પણ ગામ પોતે પણ તળાવ ગાળવા મૂડેઠા, ખડોલ ગામની જેમ ફાળો ભેગો કરે તો વધુ રાજી થઈશું.

તારુ દીધેલું વાલા તુજને ધરાવું એ વાત સાર્થક કરવાનો સમય હવે આવી ગ્યો છે.

ધરતીના પેટાળની ચિંતા ખેડુત નહીં કરે તો કોણ કરશે....

Compartment Bunding at Vadia

With the desilting  and  deepening of 45 lakes in Banaskantha, we were eagerly awaiting the arrival of rains that would fill up these thirsty and parched lakes. However, the rain gods decided otherwise. The entire region received almost no rain. Narmada that has turned out to be lifeline of Gujarat is also drying up soon.

The forecast is that Gujarat is heading towards potable water crisis this year. Chances are that even drinking water will be hard to access this summer.

However, Banaskantha’s Vadia decided to try its level best to save as much water possible. It decided to put into practice the theory of restricting the village water within village boundaries. It went a bit further and captured the rain water falling on the farmlands by designing and implementing compartment bunding on the farms of 40 farmer members of Saraniya Women Cooperative Society.

Large pit have been created to ensure that the rain water through the farms flows in these pits and begins percolating underground (can be seen in the picture).

Vadia, a village believed to be ignorant and illiterate managed to work wonderfully to preserve water. We hope other villages try to emulate these efforts.

ગુજરાતથી વરસાદ રીસાયો.

બનાસકાંઠામાં અમે 45 તળાવો ખોદાયા.

ગામના તમામ અમી દૃષ્ટિએ વરસાદની રાહ જોતા રહ્યા પણ વરસાદ તો સાચે રીસાયો..

આખો પંથ કોરો ભઠ્ઠ રહ્યો. નર્મદા જીવાદોરી. પણ એના નીરેય આવતા ઉનાળા સુધી ખુટવાના..

પીવાનું પાણી મળી રહે તોય ઘણું એવો ઘાટ ઘડાયો..

વરસાદ રીસાયો પણ આપણાથી થોડી એની કટ્ટી કરાય.

એના આવવાની રાહમાં તો લાલ જાજમ પાથરવાની..

ગામમાં એકેય તળાવ નહીં. પણ વરસાદી પાણીને તો બચાવવું રહ્યું. શું કરવું?

આખરે ગામનું પાણી ગામમાં ને સીમનું સીમમાં એ થીયરીથી થોડા આગળ ચાલી ખેતરનું પાણી ખેતરમાં એ વાત ઉપર અમે આવ્યા.

સ્ત્રી સરાણિયા સહકારી મંડળીના ચાલીસ ખેડુત ખાતેદારોના ખેતરોમાં VSSM એ કંપાર્ટમેન્ટ બંડીંગ કર્યું. ખેતરમાં પાણીનો ઢાળ જે બાજુ હોય તે બાજુ શેઢાની અંદરની બાજુ સળંગ મોટા ખાડા કર્યા જેથી ખેતરમાંથી વરસાદી પાણી વહીને આ ખાડામાં જ આવે ને ત્યાંથી જમીનમાં ઉતરે. (ફોટોમાં કંપાર્ટમેન્ટ બંડીંગ જોઈ શકાય છે)

વાડિયા જેવું સૌની નજરે નાસમજ ગામ પાણીનું મહત્વ સમજે એનાથી રૃડુ શું.

વાડિયાગામની પાણી બચાવવાની આ સમજમનું અનુકરણ ગુજરાતનો દરેક ખેડુત કરે એવી આશા રાખીએ...

સાથે ભઈ’સાબ આવતે ચોમાસે ના રીસાતો હો... એવા કાલાવાલાય વરસાદને અત્યારથી...

Adhgam's Vala Ba shows Awareness about Water Conservation

Vala Ba is a very sharp and smart farmer from the village of Adhgam in Kankrej block. He worked tirelessly along with the Sarpanch and the leaders of his village to ensure that the lake of his village was deepened as a part of our drive mitigate the crippling water situation in drought prone and arid Banaskantha. Eventually the lake did get excavated through the support of Gems and Jewellery National Relief Foundation. However, Gujarat has experienced weak monsoon this year resulting into deficient water in its traditional water bodies. The government did supply water through the Narmada Project eventually brimming up this lake.

The ground water levels in the region have gone to a low of 800 to 1000 feet. In absence of any alternate irrigation facilities the farmers have been pumping out the water to meet all their irrigation needs. Now, with the water in the lake they do not require to pump out the groundwater.

Vala Ba knew that if water reached the lake he would be able to recharge his failed bore-well and that is what he did. Using a 5 HP pump she injected water into the dried bore-well and recharged it. He is now able to draw water from 500 feet. If all the farmers in the region portrayed this wisdom we might be able to get respite from this worsening water situation. Our very wise Vala Ba exhibited this foresight and acted upon it.

Our respected Rashminbhai who has been the reason we plunged into Water Management always tells us, “If we can succeed in diverting  the flood waters into the ground, the ground water tables would rise up drastically!! All we need to do is plan better.”

Had the lake of Adhgam village filled up with rain water, we would have rejoiced even more. The Narmada waters will help the farmers and also succeed in recharging the ground water levels.

વાલા બા બહુ હોંશિયાર ખેડુત. કાંકરેજ તાલુકાના અધગામમાં એ રહે. પોતાના ગામનું તળાવ ઊંડુ થાય એમાં સરપંચ ને ગામના અન્ય સાથે એ ખુબ મથે. એમના ગામનું તળાવ જેમ એન્ડ જવેલરી નેશનલ રીલીફ ફાઉન્ડેશનની મદદથી અમે ખોદાવ્યું. પણ વરસાદ પડ્યો જ નહીં. 

જો કે સરકારે આ ગામનું તળાવ નર્મદાની પાઈપથી ભરાવ્યું. ને અમને તળાવ ઊંડા કર્યાનું લેખે લાગ્યા જેવું લાગ્યું.

ગામમાં બોરવેલ ઘણા ને ખેડુતો ભુગર્ભમાંથી પાણી ઉલેચી ખેતી કરે. એટલે પાણીના તળ 800 થી 1000 ફૂટ ઊંડા પહોંચ્યા. પણ તળાવ ભરાવવાનું જ્યારથી શરૃ થયું ત્યારથી ભુગર્ભમાંથી પાણી ઉલેચાવાનું પ્રમાણ ઘટ્યું.

વાલાબાએ તળાવમાં પાંચ હોર્સ પાવરની એક મોટર મુકીને પોતાના ફેઈલ ગયેલા બોરવેલના કાણામાં પાણી ઉતારવાનું કર્યું. છેલ્લા ઘણા વખતથી થતી આ પ્રક્રિયાના લીધે તેમને 500 ફુટે પાણી મળવાનું શરૃ થયું.

આ થઈ વાત વોટર રીચાર્જની. દરેક ખેડુત આવી સમજણ રાખે તો કેટલું મોટું કામ થાય એટલે જ વાલાબા માટે વિશેષ માન થયું.

આદરણીય રશ્મીનભાઈ જેમણે અમને પાણીના કામો કરવા પ્રેર્યા એ હંમેશાં કહે ક્યાંય પણ પુર આવે અને પુરનું બધુ જ પાણી જમીનમાં ઉતારવામાં આવે તો પાણીના તળ કેટલા ઊંચા આવી જાય.. આ માટે બસ સુદ્રઢ આયોજનની જરૃર છે.

ખેર અધગામનું તળાવ નર્મદાના પાણીની ભરાયું. જોઈને રાજી થયા. છીછરુ તળાવ અમે ખોદાવ્યું એટલે તળાવમાં પાણી વધુ વખત ટકશે ને ખેડુતોને ફાયદો પણ થશે. સાથે પાણી જમીનમાં ઉતરવાનું પણ ખરુ.

આભાર જેમ એન્ડ જેવલરી નેશનલ રીલીફ ફાઉન્ડેશન, આદરણીય રશ્મીનભાઈનો... આપની મદદ અને માર્ગદર્શન ના મળ્યું હોત તો આ કામો થવા મુશ્કેલ હતા.

When Rameshbhai Desai from Shera village of Dhanera heard about our work of desilting the lakes, he immediately contacted worker Naran. He said to desilt the lakes of his village and we will co-operate.

Then we started working in Valamdi lake. Rameshbhai is an aware sarpanch. He wanted us to desilt both the lakes of his village. But then we did not get sufficient support from the village to dig the other lake of the village, so we could not dig the other lake.

The geographical condition of Dhanera of Banaskantha is such that only if there are special circumstances then only the canal can be installed else, there is no canal at present. Farmers are dependent on the underground water only. In such a case, due to continuous extraction of water, the water tables have gone till 800 to 1000 feet deep which is a matter of concern.

The way people are worried about the underground water in Diyodar and Kankrej and Suigam (to some extent) blocks of Banaskantha, to the extent that the sarpanchs nag me to no end for desilting the lakes of their village. But this is not the case in Dhanera. That’s the place where we need to worry about the water tables the most. 

We hope that when we begin the water management work again in September, Dhanera taluka would wake up soon and support the desiliting like other talukas.

Else, we found many youngsters like Rameshbhai in Dhanera and our fieldworkers like Kanubhai and Jayantibhai also helped a lot. But they alone can’t make everything possible. If the entire village becomes aware, then Mother Earth who is tilled by the farmers, will express her happiness in a different way for repaying her favour. And we must do this much. Else, we will die if we send her to the oldage home.

We are thankful to Shera sarpanch and people of the village who co-operated in this work. I hope if there will be more awareness then we will dig the other lake of Shera. But the only condition is to carry the soil by your tractors.

ધાનેરાનું સેરાગામના સરપંચ રમેશભાઈ દેસાઈએ જ્યારે જાણ્યું કે અમે બનાસકાંઠામાં તળાવો ઊંડા કરવાનું કરી રહ્યા છીએ એટલે તુરત એમણે કાર્યકર નારણનો સંપર્ક કર્યો ને અમારા ગામના #તળાવો ઊંડા કરાવો અમે સહયોગ કરશું તેવી ભાવના વ્યક્ત કરી.

એ પછી અમે વાલમડી તળાવમાં કામ શરૃ કર્યું. રમેશભાઈ ખુબ જ જાગૃત સરપંચ તેમની ઈચ્છા તેમના ગામના બેય તળાવ ઊંડા થાય તેવી પણ ગામમાંથી તળાવ ખોદાયા પછી માટી ઉપાડવા માટે જોઈએ તેવો સહયોગ ના મળતા અમે બીજુ તળાવ ખોદાવી ના શક્યા.

#બનાસકાંઠાના #ધાનેરા તાલુકાની #ભૌગોલીક સ્થિતિ એવી છે કે ત્યાં ખાસ સંજોગો ઊભા થાય તો જ કેનાલ થાય બાકી હાલ કેનાલ નથી. ખેડુતો પેટાળના પાણી ઉપર જ નિર્ભર છે. આવામાં બોરવેલથી સતત પાણી ખેંચીને પાણીના તળ લગભગ 800 થી 1000 ફૂટ ઊંડા કરી નાખ્યા છે. જે ચિંતાનો વિષય છે.

બનાસકાંઠાના દિયોદર, કાંકરેજ ને કેટલાક અંશે સુઈગામ તાલુકાના ગામોમાં ભૂગર્ભ જળની જે રીતે ચિંતા થઈ રહી છે જે રીતે ત્યાં તળાવો ઊંડા કરાવવા સરપંચ અમારો એકદમ સાચુ કહુ તો જીવ ખાઈ જાય છે એવું ધાનેરા બાજુ થતું નથી. જબકી ત્યાં ભૂગર્ભજળની સૌથી વધારે ચિંતા કરવાની જરૃર છે.

આશા રાખીએ સપ્ટેમ્બર પછી ફરી #જળસંચયના કામો થાય તે વખતે ધાનેરા તાલુકો વહેલો જાગે ને બીજા

તાલુકાની જેમ સહયોગ કરી તેમના તળાવો ઊંડા કરાવવા સજાગ બને..

બાકી ધાનેરામાં રમેશભાઈ જેવા ઘણા ઉત્સાહી યુવાનો મળ્યા અમારા કાર્યકર કનુભાઈ, જયંતીભાઈને તેમણે ખુબ સહયોગ કર્યો. પણ તેમના એકલાથી કશુંએ થવાનું નથી. આખુ ગામ જાગે તો જે #ધરતી #ખેડુતો ખેડે છે એ ધરતી માં જાગે ને મારા બાળકોએ અત્યાર સુધી મને દોહ્યા કર્યું પણ હવે મારી ચિંતા કરી મારામાંથી લીધેલું પાછુ વાળે છે તેવો રાજીપો જુદી રીતે વ્યક્ત કરે. અને ધરતી મા માટે આટલું તો આપણે કરવું જ રહ્યું. એને કાંઈ આમ વૃદ્ધાશ્રમના હવાલે થોડી કરાય નહીં તો આપણે મરી જઈએ.

આભાર સેરા સરપંચ ને ગામના જેમણે પણ આ કાર્યમાં સહયોગ કર્યો તે સૌનો.. હજુ આશા છે વધુ સજાગતાની જો એ થાય તો સેરાનું બીજુ તળાવેય ખોદીશું. પણ શરત માટી ઉપાડવાના ટ્રેક્ટર તમારાની...

જે પણ સહયોગ મળ્યો તેમાંથી ખોદાયેલા તળાવ અંગેની વાત સરપંચ રમેશભાઈના મોંઢે વિડીયોમાં જોઈ સાંભળી શકાય છે.

આભાર સંજયભાઈનો જેઓએ ક્યારેય ધાનેરા કે સેરા જોયું નથી પણ ધરતી માની ખરા અર્થમાં ચિંતા કરી.

People of Shirwada village were very enthusiastic about digging Gaam Talav and Alsiyu Talav of their village. In that, Sarpanch Karsanbhai is very enthusiastic. 

Lake Deepening work

In order to get water to the people of his village, he got a bore-well made on his own expense. This bore-well has sweet water and the reason is the lake of the village. If we dig these lakes then the village will get sweet water all through the year. The Sarpanch talked to VSSM fieldworkers to dig their lake and expressed his willingness to make available village tractors for carrying the soil dug. In addition to that, he offered to contribute Rs. 2,00,000/- individually.Many regards to such an alert Sarpanch. An entire article can be written about his feeling to help everyone in the village.

There are total 50 families including some from Valmiki community and some from other deprived sections. Sarpanch told to help these people get the house. Sarpanch gave the possession of the best places to these families. Now we will be together and apply in the government to avail government help for house construction. Shirwada Sarpanch is the best example of what one person can do if he is willing to. However, he is supported by all people of the village. 

We will dig lakes besides the two main lakes of the village. We will make one, two and three pits in the lakes looking at the size of the lake in order to increase water percolation. Mainly, we will dig a small dig and remove the silt so that the rain water will percolate soon. Then we will link Gaam Talav and Alsiyu Talav so that maximum water will be stored in this 30 beegha big lake.

Sarpanch has showed his willingness to make a Khet Talavdi (a pit in the farm where the water can percolate and be stored), mainly to increase the water levels.    

Still today, the farmers of this region do not have the awareness to make small channels inside closer to the boundary of the field. How much water will be percolated in the canal? Our land will decrease, all these arguments will take place. But if they make small channels and khet talavdi in their fields then the water levels which have gone more than 800 ft low will come up that is for sure. Who was ready to dig the lake of their village? Same way, the farmers will also be ready.

I am thankful to Sudhirbhai Thackersey who helped us to deepen the lake of this village. And the sarpanch of the village also should be thanked along with Sudhirbhai. His contribution is as important as Sudhirbhai’s support. I thank all the farmers of the village who are carrying the soil of the lake.

#કાંકરેજ તાલકાના #શીરવાડાગામનું ગામતળાવ અને અળસિયુંતળાવ ઊંડુ કરાવવાની આખા ગામને ખુબ હોંશ. એમાંય સરપંચ કરશનભાઈ તો ખુબ હોંશિલા. ગામને પીવાનું પાણી મળી રહે એ માટે સરપંચે પોતના ખર્ચે બોરવેલ બનાવી આપ્યો. આ બોરવેલનું પાણી એકદમ મીઠુ ને મીઠુ પાણી હોવાનું કારણ ગામનું તળાવ. આ તળાવો ખોદાય તો બારે મહિના ગામને મીઠુ પાણી મળે. #VSSMના કાર્યકર નારણભાઈ અને રમેશભાઈ સાથે સરપંચે તળાવ ખોદાવવા બાબતે વાત કરી ને તળાવ ખોદકામમાં માટી લઈ જવાનું તો ગામ કરશે એ સિવાય પણ બે લાખ જેટલો ફાળો વ્યક્તિગત ધોરણે સરપંચે પોતે આપવા કહ્યું. આવા જાગૃત સરપંચને તો પ્રણામ કરવા જ પડે... વળી ભાવના ગામના તમામને મદદરૃપ થવાની એ અંગે તો આખો જુદો લેખ લખી શકાય એવું છે.

ગામમાં #વાલ્કિમી સમાજ અને અન્ય વંચિત સમાજના 50 પરિવારો અત્યંત ખરાબ સ્થિતિમાં રહે સરપંચે આ પરિવારોને ઘર મળે તે માટે મદદરૃપ થવા પણ વાત કરી ને એ માટે એમણે તમામ સહયોગ આપવા કહ્યું. ગામના આ પરિવારોને સારામાં સારી જગ્યાની આકારણી સરપંચ શ્રીએ આપી દીધી. બસ તેમને સરકારમાંથી મકાન સહાય મળે તે માટે અમે સાથે રહીને અરજી કરાવીશું. પણ એક વ્યક્તિ ઈચ્છે તો કેટલુ બધુ થઈ શકે તેનું ઉત્તમ ઉદાહરણ શિરવાડા સરપંચ શ્રી છે. જોકે ગામના તમામનો સહયોગ પણ એમને છે જ.

આ ગામ મુખ્ય બે તળાવો સિવાયના તળાવોમાં પણ વરસાદી પાણી જમીનમાં ઉતરે તે માટે તળાવની મોટાઈ જોઈને એક , બે કે ત્રણની સંખ્યામાં ઊંડી ચોકડીઓ ખોદાવીશું. મૂળ તો ચોકડી ખોદી એટલો કાંપ જમીનમાંથી કાઢી લઈશું જેથી વરસાદી પાણી જમીનમાં ઝટ ઉતરી શકે અને ગામતળાવ અને અળસિયા તળાવને લીંક કરીશું જેથી 30 વિધાના આ તળાવમાં મહત્તમ પાણી ભરાયેલા રહે.

સરપંચે પોતાના ખેતરમાં પચાસ બાય પચાસની ખેતતલાવડી કરવાની ઈચ્છા દર્શાવી છે. મૂળ તો જમીનમાં પાણી ઉતરે એ માટે...

હજુએ આ વિસ્તારના ખેડુતોને પોતાના ખેતરના શેઢાની અંદર નાની ચેનલો બનાવવાની સમજણ નથી. ચેનલમાં વળી કેટલું પાણી ઉતરે.. અમારી જમીન ઓછી થઈ જાય વગેરે દલીલો આ વાતને લઈને થઈ રહી છે પણ જો તેઓ તળાવોની સાથે ખેતતલાવડી ને નાની ચેનલો ખેતરોમાં કરે તો આખા ગામના પાણીના તળ જે આજે 800 ફૂટથી નીચે જતા રહ્યા છે તે ધીમે ધીમે ઉપર આવવાના એ નક્કી. જોકે અમે આશાવાદી છીએ. બે વરસ પહેલાં કોઈ તળાવ ખોદાવવાય ક્યાં રાજી હતું આજે એ થયું છે તો કાલે આ માટેય ખેડુત તૈયાર થશે.

આ ગામના તળાવને ઊંડુ કરવામાં મદદરૃપ થનાર આદરણીય શ્રી સુધીરભાઈ ઠાકરસીની હું આભારી છું. સાથે ગામના સરપંચનો આભાર એમનો ફાળો સુધીરભાઈની મદદ જેટલો જ અગત્યનો. ગામના તમામ ખેડુતો જેઓ તળાવની માટી લઈ જઈ રહ્યા છે તે તમામનો આભાર..

અને સૌથી વિશેષ 46થી 47 ડિગ્રી તાપમાં કામ કરતા અમારા કાર્યકર રમેશ અને નારણને વહાલ.. તમે VSSMના સાચા હીરા છો....

Water Management site

We are working for water management programme in Shiya village of Dhanera Taluka. This village suffered a big loss in 2017. The lake which is being dug by VSSM was entirely filled with the soil which came along with the waters of the flood. This lake was again brought to existence.  This lake has better water flow. We hope for the good rains so that this lake is filled fully.

The sarpanch of the village is a very noble person and he continuously provided tractors for the lake digging work.  

we wished to dig the other lake as well but the sarpanch and other people believe that the people of the village will not support to carry the soil. So, we will not be able to dig the other lake although it is actually useful.

We expect from all the villages to think about future. Everytime I say that we are digging the lake for the betterment of people of the village. The people who are digging it, have nothing to achieve out of it. Be concerned about the lakes for posterity. Then you will be able to bask in the pride of giving the inheritance of water along with the property to your next generation. It is our concern to see that the next generation doesn’t have to leave the village due to water scarcity.

The Sarpanch of the village

ધાનેરાના શિયામાં તળાવનું કામ ચાલી રહ્યું છે. 2017ના પુરમાં આ ગામને ઘણું નુકશાન થયું. VSSM દ્વારા જે તળાવ ખોદાઈ રહ્યું છે એ તળાવ પુરમાં તણાઈ આવેલી માટીના લીધે લગભગ પુરાઈ જ ગયું હતું. જેનું નવસર્જન થયું. પાણીનો ફ્લો આ તળાવમાં સારો છે. આશા રાખીએ આ ચોમાસામાં વરસાદ સારો પડે ને આ તળાવ આખુ ભરાય.

ગામના સરપંચ ખુબ ઉમદા વ્યક્તિ આ તળાવ ખોદકામમાં એમણે સતત ટ્રેક્ટરો આપ્યા. ગામનું બીજુ તળાવ ખોદાય તેવી અમારી ઈચ્છા હતી પણ ગામલોકોનો સહયોગ માટી ઉપાડવામાં નહીં મળે તવું સરપંચને અન્યોનું માનવું છે. આથી આ ગામનું બીજુ તળાવ જે ખરેખર ઉપયોગી છે છતાં આપણે નહીં ખોદી શકીએ.

ગામલોકો થોડુ લાંબુ વિચારતા થાય એવી અપેક્ષા દરેક ગામ પાસે રાખીએ છીએ. ને દરેક વખતે કહુ છુ એમ ગામલોકોના હીતાર્થે તળાવ ખોદાય છે આ તળાવમાંથી અમારે કે મદદ કરનાર સ્વજનોને લોટોય પાણી લેવું નથી. તમારી ભાવી પેઢી માટે તળાવની ચિંતા કરતા થાવ તો ભાવી પેઢીને વારસામાં જમીન - જાગીર સાથે પાણીનોય વારસોય આપ્યાનું ગૌરવ લઈ શકશો. બાકી પાણીના અભાવે ગામ છોડવા આવનારી પેઢી મજબૂર ના બને તે જોવું રહ્યું..

ફરી આ કાર્યમાં મદદરૃપ થનાર પ્રિયજનોનો આભાર નિસ્વાર્થ એમની મદદ વગર આ બધુએ થવું અસંભવ હતું.

 There is a very famous dialogue of Shahrukh Khan, “if you love anything whole heartedly, the world helps you to get you that thing.” 

The same thing as written in the Novel Alchemist, “if we keep on remembering the thing decided once, mother Nature fulfils that wish certainly!” (I am talking about positive things here, not negative! I clarified it not to divert your mind for the negative things)

Lake Deepening work and other villagers 

The Okhabapa from Bhesana once wished for the water bodies (lakes) which keeps mother earth alive, to get more deepen. He passed through three stages of his life and during the time, with other wishes, God also heard the wish of deepening the lakes. 

“During my life, I wished to get my village ponds to get deepen but never such circumstances took place where I could fulfil this wish. I wanted to do it during my tenure as Sarpanch but I could not do it.  I daily pray to God that before I leave this world, this wish may be fulfilled. So that God heard my prayer. Otherwise who would come to Bhesana to deepen the lakes!”

Okhabapa wished it with the pure heart and see, the Premjibhai of this village is the government officer whom our Karyakar Naran happened to meet and everything was settled down. 

JCB machines of the lakes started deepening ponds and looking at this activity, all like Bhikhabapa of the village felt happy! Beautiful Village! JCB expenses from VSSM and soil lifting at village expense…

I pray that everyone of us understand the value of saving water at the earliest. I express gratitude to all the villagers and the well-wishers who helped to do this work.

When I visited Bhesana, met Okhabapa and this photo is to introduce Okhabapa. The lake deepening work and villagers also can be seen in the photos. 

શાહરુખ ખાનનો બહુ પ્રચલિત ડાયલોગ, 

'અગર કીસી ચીજ કો દીલ સે ચાહો તો પુરી કાયનાત ઉસે તુમસે મીલાને કી કોશીશ મે લગ જાતી હૈ'

આ ડોયલોગ ને અલકેમીસ્ટમાં લખ્યા પ્રમાણે મનમાં નક્કી કરેલી વાતનું વારંવાર રટણ કર્યા કરીએ તો કુદરત એ ઈચ્છા જરૃર પૂર્ણ કરે છે.(હકારાત્મક વાત હો. નકારની વાત હું નથી કરતી. રખેને એ બાજુ મનવાળતા એટલે ખાસ ચોખવટ કરી)

ભેંસાણાના ઓખાબાપાએ ધરતીને જીવતી રાખનાર પાણી સંગ્રાલયો (તળાવો) ઊંડા થાય એની ખેવના કરી. જીવનના ત્રણ પડાવ પૂર્ણ કર્યા આ બધા વખતમાં બીજા મનોરથની સાથે તળાવ ઊંડા કરવાની જીજીવિષા સતત રાખી ને ઈશ્વરે એ પ્રાર્થના સાંભળી.

'મારા જીવતા મારા ગોમના તળાવો ઊંડા થાય એવી ભાવના હતી પણ એવા સંજોગ જ ના થ્યા. સરપંચ થ્યો તાણ કરવું તુ પણ ના કરી હક્યો. પણ મરતા પેલા તળાવ થઈ જાય તો હારુ એવી ભગવોનનો રોજ પ્રાર્થના કરતો તે ભગવોને મારી વિનતી હોભળી. નકર ભેંસોણામોં કુણ તળાવ ગોદવ.'

ઓખા બાપાએ સાચા મનથી તમન્ના રાખીએ ને જુઓ ગામના પ્રેમજીભાઈ જેઓ સરકારી કર્મચારી છે તેમને કાર્યકર નારણને મળવાનું થયું ને બધુ ગોઠવાઈ ગયું.

જેસીબી મશીન તળાવ ઊંડા કરવા લાગ્યા એ જોઈને ભીખાબાપા જેવા ગામના તમામ રાજી થઈ ગ્યા. 

ગામેય સરસ. જેસીબીનો ખર્ચ VSSMનો અને માટી ઉપાડવાનો ખર્ચ ગામનો...

પાણી બચાવનું મુલ્ય આપણે સૌ ઝડપથી સમજીએ એવી પ્રાર્થના ને આ કાર્યમાં મદદ કરનાર સ્નેહીજનો અને ગ્રામજનોનો આભાર..

ભેંસાણા ગઈ ત્યારે ઓખાબાપાએ વાત કરેલી એ ફોટો ઓખાબાપાની ઓળખાણ માટે. બાકી ગામમાં ખોદાઈ રહેલા તળાવો ને ગ્રામજનો જોઈ શકાય.
