"There is always turmoil in my heart, and I often wonder why I am alone. 

I have sought an answer throughout my life. 

It is said that He answers if you call Him, and I have tried to call out. 

Yet somehow, my voice seems unheard. 

I long to understand why I am kept at a distance and feel helpless. 

Alas, I have grown weary of asking repeatedly, 

Now just waiting for Him to embrace me, protect me, and keep me close."

We provide provisions to 700 destitute seniors who have no one in this world to call their own. Whenever we meet these seniors, they often express their feelings of loneliness. It saddens me to hear how they feel. Yet we remind them, "How can you say you are alone? You are not! You called out to God, and He sent people like us to be with you." Listening to us, many reflect, "What you say is absolutely true."

Bhikhabaapaa lives in Lodaraa, Gandhinagar. While his family takes care of him, he often seems unhappy being dependent on them. However, he has found comfort since we began providing him with rations. He says, "Now I eat with dignity." It is a wonderful feeling to enjoy one’s food with pride.

Many well-wishers support our mission, but the majority of assistance comes from the respected Pratulbhai Shroff of the Dr. K. R. Shroff Foundation. We are grateful for his help and the support of all our contributors.

જેમનું આ દુનિયામાં કોઈ નથી એવા 700 નિરાધાર માવતરોને અમે રાશન આપવાનું કરીએ. આ માવતરો પાસે જઈએ, બેસીએ ત્યારે બધાની લગભગ અમે એકલા કેમની વાત..

સાંભળીને મન ખિન્ન થાય. પણ પછી અમે કહીએ, "તમે એકલા ક્યાં? તમે હરીને સાદ કર્યો ને અમારા જેવા ને તમારી પાસે એણે મોકલી આપ્યા."

અમારી વાત સાંભળી બધા પાછા એ વાત હાવ હાચી એમ કહે..

ભીખાબાપા ગાંધીનગરના લોદરામાં રહે. તેમની ચાકરી કરનાર કોઈ નહીં. કુટુંબીજનો સાચવે પણ કાકાને ઓશિયાળી લાગતી. અમે રાશન આપવાનું શરૃ કર્યું ને કાકાને એનાથી નિરાંત. રસોઈ કુટુંબીજનો બનાવી આપે પણ કાકા કહે, "હું સ્વમાનથી ખાવું."

સ્વમાનથી ખાવું બહુ મોટી વાત..

આ કાર્યમાં અનેક સ્વજનો મદદ કરે. પણ આદરણીય પ્રતુલભાઈ શ્રોફ -ડો. કે.આર.શ્રોફ ફાઉન્ડેશનનો આમાં ઘણો મોટો સહયોગ એ માટે એમના ને મદદ કરનાર અન્ય સૌના આભારી..

Patan was once the capital of our Gujarat... It has been over a thousand years since that time. The tales of its grandeur are written in books. Yet even today, passing through Patan evokes memories of its magnificent history and dominance.

The foresight of Meenal Devi and Siddhraj Solanki, along with the construction of the Sahastraling Talav—there's so much to say... The fort of Patan can now be seen in a dilapidated state, but Rani Ki Vav and Patola City still stand proudly.

You might wonder why I'm talking about Patan today?... It happened that I unexpectedly wandered through the streets of Patan. Usually, if I go to Patan, I meet with the Collector regarding the issues of the marginalized and return to Ahmedabad. I often get to travel to Patan’s villages, but not to the city.

This time, our worker Mohanbhai said we need to meet a Ba and Dada in Patan who are in need, to provide them with ration.

Honoring this request, I met the Collector and made my way through the streets of Patan to reach Bhanudada and VasantiBa's home. Since the onset of old age, fewer people have visited them. Only a few neighbors come to check on them, but they can’t stay long.

They couldn’t manage alone. We decided to start providing them with rations, and now they have some relief.

We provide rations to 600 elderly individuals every month. Many volunteers help in this effort, making it possible. You too can participate in this work.

Bhanudada is weary of life. He has no expectations anymore. He often says, "God, it would be good if you take me now..." Witnessing such hardships can be heart-wrenching. Anyway, I pray that nature grants everyone sustenance, and I thank Ashwinbhai from Palanpur for becoming a caretaker for Bhanudada.

પાટણ એક વખતની આપણા ગુજરાતની રાજધાની.. હજાર કરતા વધુ વર્ષ થયા આ વાતને. એની જાહોજલાલીની વાત તો પુસ્તકોમાં વાંચેલી. પણ આજેય પાટણમાંથી પસાર થવું ત્યારે એ ભવ્ય ઈતિહાસ - પાટણની પ્રભુતા યાદ આવે. 

મીનળદેવી, સિદ્ધરાજ સોલંકીની દુરંદેશી ને સહસ્ત્રલીંગ તળાવની રચના ને એવું તો કાંઈ કેટલુંયે.. પાટણનો ગઢ હવે તો જર્જરીત અવસ્થામાં જોઈ શકાય.. પણ રાણકીવાવ ને પટોળા નગરી આજેય કડેધડે..

તમને થશે આજ પાટણની વાત કેમ?... વાત જાણે એમ બની કે અનાયાસે પાટણની ગલીઓમાં ફરવાનું થયું. આમ તો પાટણ જવું તો કલેક્ટર કચેરીમાં કલેક્ટર શ્નીને વિચરતી જાતિઓના પ્રશ્ને મળીને અમદાવાદ પરત ફરુ. પાટણના ગામડાઓમાં ઘણું ફરવાનું થાય. પણ શહેરમાં નહીં.

આ વખતે અમારા કાર્યકર મોહનભાઈએ કહ્યું, પાટણમાં આપણે એક બા દાદા જેઓ નિરાધાર છે તેમને રાશન આપીયે છીએ એમની ઈચ્છા તમને મળવાની છે.

આ ઈચ્છાને માન આપી કલેક્ટર શ્રીને મળીને પાટણની ગલીઓમાં થઈને ભાનુદાદા ને વસંતીબાના ઘરે પહોંચ્યા. ઘડપણ જ્યારથી ઘરમાં આવ્યું ત્યારથી બહારના લોકોએ આવવાનું ઓછુ કર્યું. આજુબાજુમાં રહેનાર થોડા પડોશીને એમની ચિંતા એટલે એ ખબર પુછવા આવે.. પણ એય કાંઈ કલાકો તો ન આપી શકે. 

એમનાથી કામ થાય નહીં. ઓશિયાળી વેઠવાની થતી. અમારા સંપર્કમાં આવતા અમે રાશન આપવાનું શરૃ કર્યું. હવે એમને નિરાંત છે. 

અમે 600 બા દાદાઓને દર મહિને રાશન આપીયે. ઘણા સ્વજનો આ કાર્યમાં મદદ કરે એટલે આ થઈ શકે. તમે પણ આ કાર્યમાં સહભાગી બની શકો..

ભાનુદાદા જીવનથી થાક્યા છે. એમને જીવનથી કોઈ અપેક્ષા નથી. એ વારે વારે કહે, ભગવાન હવે લઈ લે તો સારુ... આવા માવતરોનું ઘડપણ જોવું ત્યારે જીવ બળે.. ખેર કુદરત સૌને સાતા આપે તેવી પ્રાર્થના.. ને પાલનપુરના અશ્વિનભાઈનો આભાર તેઓ ભાનુદાદાના પાલક બન્યા તે માટે...

"She is not going to die soon. Her father lived for 110 years & her mother lived for 105 years" So said a man with a smile  covered in a blanket  sleeping on the bed about a lady sitting on a cot in another room. Lady replied that one lives as destined. We cannot decide when we should die.

"You are 105, yet your ears are quite sharp "  

On hearing what I said, another lady said that even her eyes are equally sharp. 

How are you related to the lady I asked. She said she and the other man sleeping on the cot are the children of the lady. She is our mother.. I was surprised to hear this.

In Bedgam village in Jamnagar lived these 3 dependent adults. They had support of each other but all three were unable to work and earn a livelihood.The man sleeping on the cot Anwarbhai did not have the vision and had difficulty getting up. His sister cooked for all three of them.

How important is the pension received from the government can be understood when we meet such families. From  Rs 1000 each received as old age pension, they meet their expenses. Before the Ration Card there was an APL card. Our colleague Anwarbhai helped them get an "antyodaya ration card" . They had difficulty getting the ration from the shop. This type of ration card had the facility of a guardian who could pick up the ration on their behalf . We shall try and arrange for this.

Anwarbhai enjoyed listening to the radio. He listened to devotional songs and cricket commentary.. He always has a radio next to his bed.

When we came to know about the condition of this family, we arranged to deliver the ration kit to them regularly under our food-kit program for the elderly.  Now they are in a comfortable position as they get the food kit regularly delivered by Ghulambhai before the one is exhausted. 

The door of the house in which this family stays is always closed from outside. Anyone who wants to come has to open it from outside and go in. Else no one from the family goes out of the house. Extra-ordinary situation which makes me sad.

When I asked  if any one in the village offered any help , Anwarbhai replied he wanted to shave but....

He did not speak any further but I could understand what he wanted to say. What does one say of the society which does not recognise the pain of their neighbours. Much to ponder.

'એ કાંઈ એમ મરવાની નથી.. એના બાપા એકસો દસે અને મા એકસો પાંચે ગ્યા. તે એય એકસો પાંચે પોગી..' પથારીમાં ગોદડુ ઓઢી સુતેલા ભાઈએ અંદરના ઓરડામાં ખાટલામાં બેઠેલા માડી માટે જરા હસીને આ કહ્યું. 

સાંભળીને માડી; 'તે લયખુ હોય એટલું જીવવુ તો પડસે જ ને એમ કાંઈ આપણા કીધે ઈ થોડો તેડના આવે?'

'માડી તમારે એકસો પાંચ થ્યા તો પણ તમારા કાન એકદમ સરવા છે..'

મારી વાત સાંભળી હું જ્યાં બેઠી હતી તે ઓસરીમાં ખાટલા પર બેઠેલા બેહેને કહ્યું, 'કાન એકલા જ નહીં એની આંખો પણ એવી તેજ..'

'તમે માડીના કોણ થાવ?'

'હું અને આ પથારીમાં પયડો ઈ. અમે એના સોકરાં. એ અમારી મા'.

સાંભળીને ઓહ બોલાઈ ગયું.

જામનગરનું બેડગામ. ત્યાં આ ત્રણે નિરાધાર. આમ તો નિરાધાર ન કહેવાય. ત્રણેયને એકબીજાનો આશરો હતો. પણ કામ ત્રણેમાંથી એકેય કરી શકે એમ નહોતા. માડી અને પથારીમાં સુતેલા દૃષ્ટિહીન અનવરભાઈને તો ઊભા થવામાંય તકલીફ. એમના બહેન રસોઈ કરેને આ બેયને ખવડાવે.

સરકાર દ્વારા મળતું પેન્શન આવા પરિવારો માટે કેટલું અગત્યનું એ આવા પરિવારોને મળીયે ત્યારે સમજાય. ભાઈ બહેનને 1000-1000 એ લોકોની ભાષામાં બુઢા(વૃદ્ધ) પેન્શન પેટે મળે તે એમાંથી એ પોતાનો ખર્ચો કાઢે. 

રેશનકાર્ડ પહેલાં APL હતું. અમારા કાર્યકર ગુલામભાઈએ એમને અંત્યોદય રાશનકાર્ડ કરાવી દીધું. પણ રાશન લેવા જવામાં એમને તકલીફ. રાશનકાર્ડમાં આવા પરિવારો માટે ગાર્ડિયનની જોગવાઈ છે અમે એની તપાસ કરી એ ગોઠવાય તેવા પ્રયત્નો કરીશું.

અનવરભાઈ રેડિયો સાંભળવાના શોખીન. ખાસ ક્રિકેટ અને ભજનો સાંભળવા ગમે. તે રેડિયો એમની પથારીની બાજુમાં જ રહે. 

આ પરિવારની સ્થિતિ અંગે અમને ખ્યાલ આવ્યો અમે માવજત કાર્યક્રમ અંતર્ગત રાશન આપવાનું શરૃ કર્યું. હવે એમને ઘણી નિરાંત છે. માડીએ કહ્યું, 'હવે ખૂટશે તો હું થાશેની ચિંતા નથ. ખૂટે એ પહેલાં જ ગુલામભાઈ દઈ જાય.'

આ પરિવાર જે ઘરમાં રહે તે ઘરનો દરવાજો પણ બહારથી બંધ. કોઈએ આવવું હોય તો બહારથી ખોલીને આવવાનું બાકી આ ઘરમાંથી કોઈ ઘર ખોલીને બહાર જતું નથી...

જબરી સ્થિતિ.. જોઈને મન ખીન્ન થઈ જાય..

ગામમાં કોઈ મદદ કરે એવું પુછ્યું તો અનવરભાઈ કહે, મારે દાઢી કરાવવી છે પણ....

આગળ એ કશું બોલ્યા નહીં ને ન બોલેલું અમે સમજી ગયા. જે સમાજ પોતાની આસપાસ રહેનારની પીડા નથી સમજતો તે સમાજ વિષે શું કહેવું? વિચારવું રહ્યું....

You used to stay in Bidaj earlier .. right ?

Yes... I used to be there before I moved to Mahijada.. after he was cremated.

I did not understand what you said.

I used to stay in Bidaj with my husband.  We had a temporary shelter in Mahijada. We used to stay with one local shepherd. He was a nice person and asked us to stay near him. One night my husband did not wake up from the sleep. Near the shelter, Sabarmati river used to flow. On the banks of river Sabarmati I cremated him. I told that shepherd that when I die, please cremate me the way I cremated my husband on the banks of Sabarmati. 

You loved your husband a lot ? I asked. 

Nabuma felt shy & said he kept me happy throughout our life. It is disheartening that no one else ever came to check on our well-being. Nabuma stays in a temporary shed in Mahijada village in Ahmedabad. She had no children and there was no one to take care of her. She had no ration card or aadhar card. So she was not receiving any old age aid from the government. There would be so many such people who are eligible for the aid but do not receive it . One wonders what can be done about this problem? 

Nabuma managed till she could & thereafter had to beg to eat. Our associate Shri Rajnibhai stayed in Bidaj. One Maheshbhai gave the information about Nabuma. We started giving her a monthly kit of our ration. Nabuma was happy. She said now she is not dependent on anyone & is now able to prepare her own food & eat.

We also were happy to see Nabuma. There are such 600 dependent old grandparents to whom we support by giving them the food kits. You too can help & support us in such noble cause by contacting us on 90999-36013 between 10AM to 6PM.

 'તમે તો પહેલાં બીડજ રહેતા ને?'

હોવ પેલ્લાં ઓયકણ જ રે'તી.. પણ એ પાસા થ્યા પસી મહિજડા જતી રઈ. ઈમન તો બાળ્યા'તા ન એટલ!'

'સમજાયું નહીં?'

'તમાર કાકા અન્ મુ બીડજમોં જ રે'તા તા પેલ્લા. મહિજડામોં અમે થોડા ટેમ માટે સાપરુ કર્યું તું. તોકણ એક ભરવાડભઈ રે. એ બહુ હારા તે ઈમને કીધુ ક કાકા ઓયકણ આવો રે'વા. તે તો જેલા અન એક રાતે એ પથારીમોંથી ઊભા જ ના થ્યા. મારુ સાપરુ જો વાળ્યું તુ ઈની બાજુમોંથી સાબરમતી નદી જાય. તે ઈમન સાબરમતીના પટમોં જ બાળ્યા (અગ્નિસંસ્કાર). એટલ પસી મુ તો જ રઈ જી. મુ મરુ તો જોકણ ઈમ બાળ્યા તા તોકણ મનેય બાળજો એવું મન થોડું હાચવ એ ભરવાડભઈન કઈ રાસ્યુ હ્.'

'તે તમને કાકા માથે જબરો પ્રેમ?'

મારી વાત સાંભળી નબુમા જરા શરમાયા પછી કહે, 'આખી જીંદગી ઈમનેજ તો મન હાસવી. બાકી કોઈ ભૂજીયો ભઈએ ખબર પુસવા નહીં આયો. એ વાતનો વિહોમો હતા.'

નબુમા અમદાવાદના મહિજડામાં છાપરુ કરીને રહે. નિસંતાન ને પરિવારમાં અન્ય કોઈ સંભાળે એવું નહીં. રાશનકાર્ડ, આધારકાર્ડ એવું કશું પાસે નહીં..એટલે વૃદ્ધ પેન્શન પણ ન મળે. 

ક્યારેક થાય આવા કેટલા માણસો હશે જેમને સરકારની સહાય છે છતાં પુરાવના કારણે મદદ નથી મળતી.. શું થઈ શકે આ બધાનું.... ખરે જ વિચારવાની જરૃર છે. 

કામ થતું ત્યાં સુધી કર્યું પછી માંગી ભીખીને ખાતા. અમારા કાર્યકર રજનીભાઈને બીડજમાં રહેતા મહેશભાઈએ નબુમા વિષે માહિતી આપી ને અમે હવે એમને દર મહિને ચાલે એટલું રાશન આપીયે. 

નબુમા હવે રાજી. એ કહે, 'માર હવ કોઈની ઓશિયાળી નઈ. રૃપાળુ હાથે રોધીન ખવુ.'

નબુમાનો સંતોષ જોઈને અમે રાજી. આવા 600 નિરાધાર બા - દાદાઓને અમે દર મહિને રાશન આપીયે.. તમે પણ VSSM થકી થઈ રહેલા આ સદકાર્યમાં સહભાગી થઈ શકો એ માટે 90999-36013 પર 10 થી 6માં સંપર્ક કરી શકો..

There is a well known saying that "If God has given us teeth, he will also give us food."

As such we can get food easily if we are able to work. But if we are unable to work and we have to yearn or long for food, it is very very painful. 

Navima, an old lady in the village of Deesa faces the pain of not having food. She is unable to work because of her age related disabilities. It is a big trouble for her to cross the road and go to a society and ask for food. She does that because she has no choice. She has to rest at least four times to cover a short distance. 

To provide food to such old people is an act that gives us immense satisfaction & we do it regularly. 

Baluma staying in Sherpura village of Patan has no one to take care of her. We provide her with our food kit every month with the help of our associate Shankarbhai.

Like Baluma & Navima we have 600 such dependent old people to whom we provide food kits regularly. You can join us in this mission by calling us on 9099936013 any time between 10AM to 6PM.

ભગવાને દાંત આપ્યા છે તો એ ચાવણુયે આપશે. આ કહેવત આપણે સૌએ સાંભળી છે. આમ તો ચાવણું મહેતન કરવાથી મળી જાય. પણ મહેનત ન થાય એવા વખતે ચાવણા માટે કોઈના ઓશિયાળા બનવું પડે ત્યારે કેવી પીડા થાય!

ડીસાના નવીમાએ કહેલું કે, 'હું આજુબાજુ સોસાયટીમાં માંગવા જવું.. મારા છાપરાંથી સોસાયટીમાં જવા રોડ ઓળંગવો પડે. મારા પગ હવે થાક્યા છે. તે વચમાં ચાર વાર પોરો ખાવું ત્યારે જતા ખાવા જોગુ ભેગુ કરે.. '

આવી યાતના વેઠનાર ઘરડાં માવતરોની સાતા આપવાનું કાર્ય બહુ સુખ આપનારુ.. જે અમે કરીએ...

પાટણના શેરપુરાગામમાં રહેતા બાલુમા.. એમની કાળજી કરનાર પણ કોઈ નહીં. બસ અમે દર મહિને રાશન આપીયે. અમારા કાર્યકર શંકરભાઈ આ માડીને નિયમીત મળે ને દર મહિને રાશન પહોંચાડે..

 "Raju had a serious stomach ailment. I took him to many doctors. Finally he was cured but even today he cannot work hard or lift weight"

Manguba said this with deep anguish. She stays in Patan, Radhanpur. The road leading to her house would not make us believe that she would be in such a difficult condition. Manguba with her small family stays in a temporary shed. She had left her native village many years ago & settled in Radhanpur. She & her husband did labour jobs & survived. But her husband passed away about 10 years ago. To compound Manguba's problem her son Raju got an ulcer ailment. Manguba has to go  for domestic work to different homes. She has been doing this work for many years but now with advancing age she is not able to do much work.

The neighbours would give their extra food to Manguben. She with a heavy heart said that this extra food would otherwise have been given to dogs. With a lump in the throat she could not speak further. Who likes to live in this manner? Having come to know of her condition , we at VSSM decided to give her a ration kit every month. She continued to do some light work and with our ration kit she & her son survived. With our support now it was not absolutely necessary for her to work. She said that with our help there is much relief in her life.

Like her, we support about 600 such dependent elders. With the support of many well wishers this has become possible.  With just Rs 1500 per month you can even be a guardian to such elders. It is not a big sum. You can contribute through GPay on 9909049893. Our wish is that for the well being of all, let us play our role of helping the needy.. 

'રાજુને પેટની બહુ મોટી બિમારી થઈ. હું ઘણા દવાખાના એને લઈને દોડી ત્યારે જતા એ સાજો થયો પણ હાલેય એ ભારે કામ નથી કરી હકતો.'

મંગુબાએ વલોવાતા હૈયે આ કહ્યું. પાટણના રાધનપુરમાં એ રહે. આમ તો એમના ઘર તરફ જવાનો રસ્તો જ્યાંથી પસાર થાય એ જોતા મંગુબાની રહેવાની સ્થિતિ આટલી વિકટ હશે એનો અંદાજ ન આવે.

 મંગુબા મર્યાદીત ઘર સંસાર સાથે છાપરાંમાં રહે. એમનું મૂળવતન છોડીને એ વર્ષો પહેલાં રાધનપુર આવી ગયેલા. પતિ પત્ની મજૂરી કરી નભતા. પણ કાકા દસેક વર્ષ પહેલાં ગયા. ને દિકરાને અલ્સરની બિમારી લાગુ પડી.  મંગુબા લોકોના ઘરે કચરા પોતા વાસણ કરવા જાય. આમ તો વર્ષોથી આજ કામ કરે. પણ પહેલાં જેટલું કામ હવે ઉંમરના કારણે નથી કરી શકતા.

સોસાયટીના લોકો ક્યારેક પોતાના ઘરે વધેલું મંગુબાને આપી જાય. બા કહે એમ લોકો વધેલું કૂતરાને ચાટમાં નાખે એની જગ્યાએ....એ વધુ બોલી ન શક્યા. ગળે ડૂમો બાઝ્યો. આવું જીવન કોને ગમે પણ શું કરે? 

બાની સ્થિતિનો ખ્યાલ આવતા અમે દર મહિને રાશન આપવાનું શરૃ કર્યું. થોડું ઘણું થાય એ કામ એ કરે જેના લીધે મા-દિકરાનું ગુજરાન ચાલે.. પણ પહેલાં કામ કરવું જ પડશે એવું હવે નથી. તબીયત ઠીક ન હોય અથવા પરાણે ન થાય તોય કામ ખેંચતા મંગુબા કહે, 'તમે રેશન આલો એનાથી મને રાહત થઈ..'

VSSM થકી અમે આવા 600 નિરાધાર બા દાદાઓને રાશન આપીયે. તમે સૌ આમાં મદદ કરો એટલે આ બધુ થાય.

 "He is hard of hearing & also getting senile. He gave up working since many years.  I used to do labour jobs but now my body is not fit to work hard. Even if an old lady like me wants to work, who will take me to work? The struggle continued & we managed to barely survive. One Jain family in the village used to provide us with food for one time in a day.  We had no idea where our second meal would come from. It was always a worry. I had to beg and manage somehow. Sometimes I felt that I should ask the same family who gave us one meal to give two. But it's not good to ask like that". 

This is the life of Ishaba staying in Varsoda Village of Gandhinagar. Ishaba's husband Virakaka sat quietly & listened to her . 

The teacher in the village Shri Ashwinbhai informed our colleague Shri Rizwanbhai about Ishaba's plight. We agreed to give her enough ration that would meet her need of one more meal. It is now comfortable for the elderly couple.

When we went to meet them, I asked to lay a cot on the courtyard and told Virakaka to sit on it. I then requested Ba to sit next to Virakaka. She refused to sit on the cot. After much persuasion she sat  but immediately Virakaka got up. He then sat on the chair. They believe that In the presence of others they both cannot sit on the cot together. However we had a nice time chatting with them. We help such elders about 600 of them every month. Even you can be a guardian to them. They need you. 

I am thankful to all our well wishers whose regular help, help us to make the lives of dependent elders comfortable. Thank You very much.

'એમને કાને ઓછુ સંભળાય, હવે તો મગજેય બહુ કામ નથી કરતું. ઘણા વર્ષોથી એમણે કામ મુકી દીધું. હું મજૂરી કરતી ને ઘર ચાલતું. પણ હવે હાથ પગ કામ કરતા બંધ થયા. 

મારા જેવી ડોશીને કામ કરવું હોય તો કામે લઈ કોણ જાય? 

આવામાં હખડ હખડ ગાડુ ચાલતું. ગામના એક જૈન પરિવાર તરફથી અમને એક ટંક ટીફીન મળે. બીજા ટંકની ચિંતા કરવાની રેતી. માંગી ભીખીને એ બધુ ગોઠવતી. ક્યારેક એક ટંક ટીફીન આપનારને કહેવાનું મન થતું કે ભઈ'સાબ બે ટંકનું આપો ને તો જફા ઓછી.. પણ એમ થોડી મંગાય?'

ગાંધીનગરના વરસોડાગામના ઈશાબાની વાત. તેમના પતિ વીરાકાકા જ્યાં સુધી ઈશાબા અમારી સાથે વાત કરતા ત્યાં સુધી ચુપચાપ આ બધુ સાંભળી રહ્યા. 

ગામના શિક્ષક અશ્વિનભાઈએ ઈશાબાના પરિવારની વાત અમારા કાર્યકર રીઝવાનભાઈને કરી અને VSSMમાંથી એમને એક ટંક આરામથી ખાઈ શકાય તે માટે રાશન આપવાનું શરૃ થયું.

બા ને કાકા બેયને હવે નિરાંત.

અમે મળવા ગયા ત્યારે આંગણામાં ખાટલો ઢાળેલો હતો. મે કાકાને ત્યાં બેસવા કહ્યું.. કાકા બેઠા પછી મે બાને એમની બાજુમાં બેસવા કહ્યું તો બા બેસે નહીં. ઘણો આગ્રહ કર્યો પછી બા બેઠા ત્યાં કાકા ઊભા થઈ ગયા.. એ પછી ખુરશી મંગાવી એમાં એમને બેસાડ્યા. બધાના દેખતા પતિ પત્ની એક ખાટલે ન બેસે એવું આ બેય માને...

ખેર એ પછી તો અમારી મજાની વાતો થઈ... આવા 600 માવતરોને અમે દર મહિને રાશન આપીયે. તમે પણ આવા માવતરોના પાલક બની શકો... 

આ કાર્યમાં મદદ કરનાર સૌ સ્વજનોની આભારી છું. તેમની મદદથી જ આટલા બા દાદાઓને નિરાંત આપવાનું થઈ શક્યું છે. આભાર.

 "Shambhu studies in my school. However he remains absent most of the days. He remains present just 5-6 days in a month. I went to see Shambhu at his house to find out the reason why he remains absent. What I saw was shocking" Parasbhai is a sympathetic & sensitive teacher in a medium school in Gutal Village in Kheda District. What Parasbhai described made us go to Shambhu's house.

Shambhu's father expired when he was just 3 months old. He was running a tyre puncture repair shop. He had cancer & was detected at a very last stage and there was no time left to treat him. Shambhu's mother was young so her father in law got her remarried to another person.  It was decided that after the mother is settled she will take Shambhu with her. Unfortunately that did not happen as even his mother expired when Shambhu was just 1.5 years old. Shambhu became an orphan when only 1.5 years old.

When Shambhu's father was detected with cancer, Shambhu fell ill. It was detected that he suffered from a disease which reduced his protein levels. It would take a long time to treat this illness. Shambhu's grandparents both worked as labourers on the farm. With their earnings they barely managed to survive. Also they had to keep some cash handy because Shambhu required to be taken to the hospital all of a sudden. Sometimes he even had to be admitted to the hospital.  Financially they were in a very precarious situation. The old couple stayed in a temporary structure with just a shed in Gutal. No vehicles even can reach there. They kept some goats with them in the shed. The shed got dark even during the day. 

Someone told the grandfather to take Shambhu to a kidney hospital in Ahmedabad. Shambhu's treatment is ongoing at that hospital. It is free but there are expenses of travelling & food. The money was spent in food and there was no saving to build a proper home.

The Grandparents were more than 65 years old. They could not work but yet had to take care of Shambhu. Shambhu is now 14 years old. For another 4 years till he is 18 , the grandparents will have to take care & run around for Shambhu.

The grandparents badly wanted a concrete home. It was their desire for so many years. We decided to construct a house for them. Also helped him (Dada) set up some work which he could do without running around. He said that he can do the work of puncture repairs which his son used to do but he doesn't have money to buy equipment to start the puncture repair shop. We decided to help him for that too. Even Shambhu wants to work in the puncture repair shop. Amazing family. Quite contended.  We also helped in getting the "Antyodaya" card for the family. Now they get more food grains from the ration shop. Our colleague Rajnibhai & Mamlatdar Smt Jaiminiben helped in getting the "Antyodaya" Card without delay. We also decided to give them a food kit so that they do not have to worry about food.  Once Dada's puncture business is set he may not even need a food kit from us.

We do not like to ask the caste of the person whom we help. However after I saw Dada , I somehow felt that I knew him. So when I asked him his caste, he said " Baraiya". It reminded me of Pandit Ravishankar Maharaj. Panditji has worked a lot for Baraiyas. When we were leaving, Dada offered us some dried spices.  We refused, telling him to keep them so that they could be sold for some money. He said that this is for school children but for the last couple of days he could not go to school.

What can we say ? Dada doesn't have much to donate but out of whatever little he had he was magnanimous to give to the society. Salute to him for this wonderful attitude.

Many thanks to Parasbhai. He was Shambhu's favourite teacher. Parasbhai was a perfect example of how an ideal teacher should be. I will write more about him later. I am sure every school in the country would love to have a teacher like him. 

Kheda is very prosperous. Can we not build a home for Shambhu ? Just Rs 1.5 lakhs will build a home for him. Dada's dream will also come true. Lets all together build Shambhu's home.

ખેડા વાસીઓ જોગ.... 

'શંભુ મારી નિશાળમાં ભણે પણ એ મહિનામાં માંડ પાંચ સાત દિવસ હાજર રહી શકે. સતત ગેરહાજર રહેવાનું કારણ જાણવા હું શંભુના ઘરે ગયો ને જે જોયું એનાથી હલી જવાયું..'

પારસભાઈ ખેડાના ગુતાલની માધ્યમીકશાળાના એકદમ સંવેદનશીલ શિક્ષક. એમણે શંભુની  જે સ્થિતિ જોઈ એ અમને વર્ણવી ને અમે પહોંચ્યા શંભુના ઘરે.

શંભુ ત્રણ મહિનાનો હતો ત્યારે એના પિતા ગુજરી ગયા. ગામમાં એ ટાયર પંક્ચરની દુકાન ચલાવતા. એમને કેન્સર થયેલું પણ ખબર છેલ્લી ઘડીએ પડી. શંભુના દાદા કહે, 'કુદરતે એની સારવાર કરાવવાનો પણ વખત ન આપ્યો.'

શંભુની મા જુવાન એ આખી જિંદગી રંડાપો વેઠે એ શંભુના દાદાને ગમે એવું નહોતું. એમણે એને સમજાવીને બીજે વળાવી. પોતે પિતા તરીકે એનું કન્યાદાન કર્યું. વહુએ કહેલું કે, શંભુને એ એક વખત બધુ ગોઠવાઈ જશે પછી લઈ જશે. પણ એવું થયું નહીં. શંભુ દોઢેક વર્ષનો થયો હશે ત્યાં એની મા માંદગીમાં પટકાઈ પછી ઊભી જ ન થઈ.

આમ શંભુ મા-બાપ વગરનો થયો. 

શંભુના પિતા ગુજરી ગયા એ વખતે શંભુ ખુબ બિમાર પડ્યો. દવાખાને લઈ ગયા ત્યારે ખ્યાલ આવ્યો કે એના શરીરમાંથી પ્રોટીન ઘટી જાય છે. વળી આ બિમારી લાંબી ચાલવાની. શંભુના દાદા અને દાદી બેય ખેતમજૂરી કરે. હખડડખળ ઘર ચાલે. એમાં શંભુને ગમે ત્યારે હોસ્પીટલ લઈને દોડવાનું થાય એટલે એ પૈસા સાથે જ રાખવા પડે. 

આર્થિક રીતે દાદા સાવ ઘસાઈ ગયા. હાલ એ છાપરાંમાં રહે. ગુતાલના કોઈ પરામાં એમનું આ છાપરુ.. વાહન પણ ત્યાં ન જાય. આ છાપરામાં દાદા થોડી બકરીઓ રાખે તે પણ બાંધેલી. આખુ છાપરુ સખત અંધારીયું. 

દાદા ને કોઈએ અમદાવાદ કીડની હોસ્પીટલમાં શંભુને લઈ જવા કહ્યું ને હાલ શંભુની ત્યાં સારવાર ચાલે. દર મહિને હોસ્પીટલ જવાનું. ક્યારેક દાખલ થવાનું પણ સ્થિતિ ગંભીર થાય તો કરવું પડે. 

સારવાર મફત થાય પણ ત્યાં જવા આવવાના ખર્ચા ને સારવાર પછી શંભુ લેવાઈ જાય તે એને થોડું સરખુ ખવડાવવું પણ પડે ને... આમાં બચત તો શક્ય જ નહોતી. એટલે ઘર પણ ન થયું. 

દાદા દાદીની ઉંમરેય 65 વર્ષથી વધુની થઈ. કામ થાય નહીં છતાં શંભુ માટે દોડવું પડે. 

શંભુ હાલ 14 વર્ષનો થયો.18 પછી એની સારવાર એ રીતે થશે કે પછી હોસ્પીટલના દોડા બંધ અથવા ઓછા થઈ જશે પણ ત્યાં સુધી દાદાના માથે ભાર..

દાદાની ઈચ્છા એક રૃમનું ઘર થાય એવી વર્ષોની. એમની સ્થિતિ જોઈને ઘર બાંધી આપવાનું તો નક્કી કર્યું જ. સાથે દાદા બેઠા બેઠા કાંઈ કામ આવડે તો એ કરવા મદદ કરીએનું પુછ્યું તો એમણે કહ્યું, 'ટાયર પંચરની દુકાન થઈ શકે. મારા દીકરો એ કરતો. એ મને ફાવે. પણ મારી પાસે એ શરૃ કરવા જે સાધનો લાવવા પડે એના પૈસા નથી.'

અમે એમાં પણ મદદ કરીશું.

શંભુને પણ મોટા થઈને ટાયર પંચરની દુકાન પર એના પિતા કામ કરતા એમ કરવું છે. 

ગજબ પરિવાર એકદમ સંતોષી.

આ પરિવારને અંત્યોદય કાર્ડ મળે તે માટે અમારા કાર્યકર રજનીભાઈએ નડિયાદ મામલતદાર શ્રી જૈમિનીબેનને વાત કરીને એમણે તુરત કાર્ડ કાઢી આપ્યું. હવે વધારે અનાજ મળશે. અમે પોતે પણ દર મહિને રાશનકીટ આપીશું જેથી એમને નિરાંત રહે. આમ તો ધંધો સેટ થઈ જશે પણ કદાચ અમારી કીટની એમને જરૃર નહીં રહે પણ ત્યાં સુધી કરીશું. 

આમ તો ક્યારેય કોઈ વ્યક્તિને એમની જાતિ પુછવી ગમે નહીં પણ કાકાને મળ્યા પછી જાણે ઘણા વખતથી ઓળખતી હોવું એ લાગ્યું. છેવટે પુછ્યું દાદા તમારી જ્ઞાતિ કઈ ને દાદાએ કહ્યું,  'બારૈયા..'

પૂ. રવીશંકર મહારાજ(દાદા) યાદ આવ્યા. દાદાએ બારૈયાઓ માટે ઘણું કામ કરેલું... અમે એની વાત કરી નીકળી રહ્યા હતા ત્યાં દાદાએ અમને રોક્યા ને કહ્યું,

 'કોકડીઓ લેતા જાવ..'

રાયણની સુકવણીને કોકડી કહે, મે કહ્યું, 'રાખો દાદા તમે વેચશો તો પૈસા મળશે..'

એમણે કહ્યું, 'અરે હોય કાંઈ આ તો નેહાળમાં છોકરાંઓ ખાય એ માટે સુકવેલી. મારે નેહાળ આપવા જવાનું છે પણ સમય નતો મળ્યો. આ બે ચાર દાડામાં આપી આઈશ.'

શું કહેવું?

દાદા બહુ મોટા દાન કરી શકે એવી મૂડી એમની પાસે નથી પણ જે છે એમાંથી એ સમાજને આપવાનું કરે. એમની આ ભાવનાને પ્રણામ કરવા ઘટે..

પારસભાઈનો ઘણો આભાર. શંભુના એ પસંદીદા શિક્ષક.. શિક્ષક કેવા હોવા જોઈએ એનું એ ઉત્તમ ઉ.દા.. એમના વિષે વિગતે ફરી ક્યારેક લખીશ. પણ દેશની દરેક શાળા આવા શિક્ષક ઈચ્છે છે એવું ચોક્કસ કહી શકાય. 

ખેડા બહુ પૈસાદાર વર્ગનો પંથક. શું આપણે શંભુનું ઘર બાંધવામાં મદદ ન કરી શકીએ?

દોઢ લાખ જેટલી રકમ ભેગી કરીએ તો શંભુ ઘરવાળો થઈ જાય. ને શંભુના દાદાનું સ્વપ્ન પણ પૂર્ણ થાય.

Hiraba as such was a very lucky lady. Since childhood she never had to work in the kitchen because of her elder sister. After marriage, Budhakaka took care of the kitchen.

Hiraba has been visually impaired since birth. So she got sympathy. Her elder sister, out of love, never taught Hiraba any work. She was married off to Budhakaka who was short of normal thinking. He was a happy go lucky person but took good care of his wife Hiraba.

Budhakaka worked on the farm & earned just enough for both to survive. After some time , Budhakaka found it difficult to do manual work on the farm. He had to beg for his living. Hiraba would continuously advise him. 

Budhakaka would often forget his way when he went out. In a very bad state our colleague Rajnibhai accidentally met him. He brought Budhakaka home & understood the situation.  We decided to give them a ration kit. Along with that we also applied and got him Government's "Antyoday Card" which entitled him for old age pension. Alongwith our ration kit, life became little comfortable for the old couple. Both lived with each other's support & love. 

When we went to their house, they were very happy & welcomed us & asked what they could do for us. 

Such 490 old & unsupported elders are taken care of by VSSM. We request you to support us in this deserving cause.

Many help us in this cause, but special mention of Dr K R Shroff Foundation is not out of place & for that we are thankful to Shri Pratulbhai Shroff & special gratitude for his constant support.

હીરાબા આમ બહુ નસીબવાળા. નાનપણથી એમના મોટાબહેને એમને ક્યારેય ચુલે રસોઈ કરવા બેસવા ન દીધા ને લગ્ન પછી બુધાકાકાએ પણ એ કામ ન કરવા દીધું.

હીરાબાની આંખોના દિવા જન્મથી જ બુઝાયેલા. એટલે આમ એ થોડું દયાને પાત્ર રહ્યા. પણ બહેને તો પ્રેમવશ જ કામ ન શીખવ્યું. બુધાકાકા થોડા નિજાનંદી. બહુ સુઝબુઝ ન પડે. પણ એમની આંખોમાં રોશની નહોતી એટલે હીરાબા સાથે પરણનાર કોઈ ન મળ્યું. છેવટે થોડી ઓછી સુઝબુઝવાળા બુધાકાકા સાથે એમને પરણાવી દીધા. જો કે બુધાકાકા ભલે નિજાનંદ રહ્યા પણ હીરાબાનું એ ધ્યાન ખુબ રાખે.

બા ક્યાંય મજૂરીએ જઈ ન શકે તે કાકા ખેતરમાં મજૂરી કરે અને બેઉનું પુરુ કરે. એક વખત પછી કાકાથી કામ થવાનું ઓછુ થયું. એટલે કાકા ભીખ માંગવા જાય ને જે લાવે તેમાંથી રસોઈ કરી બાને ખવડાવે. જો કે બાનું માર્ગદર્શન સતતનું.

હવે બુધાકાકા બહાર જાય તો રસ્તો ભૂલી જાય. આવી જ રીતે એક દિવસ બસસ્ટેશને ખુબ ખરાબ હાલતમાં બુધાકાકા અમારા કાર્યકર રજનીભાઈને મળી ગયા. રજનીભાઈ એમને ઘરે લઈ આવ્યા. ને સ્થિતિ સમજ્યા પછી રાશનકીટ આપવાનું નક્કી કર્યું.

અમે રાશનકીટ તો આપીયે સાથે સરકાર અંત્યોદય કાર્ડ આપે તે માટે પણ પ્રયત્નો આદર્યા ને કાર્ડ મળ્યું. બાકી વૃદ્ધ પેન્શન એમને મળે. આવામાં રાશનકીટ મળતા હવે તેમને ઘણી રાહત છે. 

બેઉં એકબીજાના સહારે જીવે. એકબીજા માટે હેત વર્ષાવે. 

અમે જ્યારે ઘરે ગયા ત્યારે  તમારી શું મનવાર કરુ એવી એમની લાગણી હતી. 

આવા 490 બા દાદાઓ કે જેઓ નિરાધાર છે તેમની ચાકરી કરનાર કોઈ નથી તેમને દર મહિને રાશન આપવાનું આપ સૌ સ્વજનોની મદદથી અમે કરીએ. તમે પણ આ કાર્યમાં મદદ કરી શકો એમના પાલક બની શકો..

આ કાર્યમાં ઘણા સ્વજનો મદદ કરે પણ ડો, કે.આર.શ્રોફ ફાઉન્ડેશન એક સાથે 154 માવતરોને રાશન આપે. આદરણીય પ્રતુલભાઈ શ્રોફનો એ માટે ઘણો આભાર. એ સિવાય ઘણા સ્વજનો મદદ કરે બધાના નામો નથી લખી શકતી પણ પ્રતુલભાઈની હૂંફ મોટી. તેમના પ્રત્યે કૃતજ્ઞતા..

“Have you shared such a strong bond from the very beginning?”

“Yes, I think we were destined to live like sisters. Our husband passed away some time back; he was a little older than me, and so is she. My husband was not keeping good health; it was when I decided to work as a cook and domestic helper at a doctor’s house in Baroda. So I took up the responsibility of earning for the three of us and kept sending the money to my husband and step-wife!”

Manjula Ba’s talk did come as a surprise. She lost her husband to a long illness; his first wife is Savitriben, while Manjulaben is his second wife,  who also runs the household.

The yearning for a child made Kaka marry twice, but that aspiration was never fulfilled. Kaka operated a grocery store in Navsari, but as age and frail health caught up, he closed the business. The savings were exhausted on his age-related medical issues. Ultimately, they returned to  Chunel,  his native village in Kheda district. Kaka has left both of them a small house. However, both of them are incapable of working hence bringing food on the plate is a problem. The duo tries to survive on the quota available on their ration card and pension for older people, but money for medicine, etc., remains a challenge.

“I always prayed to Goddess Jagdamba to keep us under her wings. It was as if she answered my prayers and sent us to help through VSSM’s Rajnibhai. God bless Chunel’s Dilipbhai for talking about us to Rajnibhai, who now brings us a monthly ration kit.”

The Mavjat initiative helps 435 destitute elderly with food; the support we receive from our well-wishers helps us operate this much-needed initiative. You may also choose to adopt an elderly by offering financial contributions.

'હા. બધુ ઉપરવાળો નક્કી કરે. અમે તો બહેનોની જેમ રહીએ. અમારા ઘરવાળા હમણાં ગુજરી ગયા પણ એ બેઉ મારા કરતા થોડા મોટા. એમની તબીયત સારી નહોતી રહેતી ત્યારે હું વડોદરા એક ડોક્ટરના ત્યાં રસોઈ અને ઘરનું કામ કરવા રહી અને ત્યાંથી બેઉને પૈસા મોકલાવતી અને એમનું ગુજરાન ચાલતુ.'

નવાઈ લાગે એવી વાત મંજુલાબાએ કરી. તેમના પતિ લાંબી માંદગીમાં ગયા. એમના પહેલા પત્ની સાવિત્રીબહેન અને બીજા મંજુલાબા. 

ઘરનો કારભાર મંજુલાબા જ જુએ. ને સાવીત્રીબા એમનું બધુ માને. બાળક માટે થઈને કાકાએ બે લગ્ન કરેલા. પણ બાળક ભાગ્યમાં નહોતું.

કાકા નવસારીમાં નાનકડી દુકાન ચલાવતા. ઉંમર થઈ ધંધો બંધ થયો. માંદગીમાં ઘણો ખર્ચ થઈ ગયો. છેવટે હાથે પગે આવી ગયા. એટલે નવસારી મુકી પોતાના વતન ખેડાના ચુણેલગામમાં આવીને રહ્યા.

એક નાનકડુ ઘર બેઉ બા માટે કાકા મુકીને ગયા તે બેઉને માથુ ઘાલવાનું હખ છે. પણ કામ થતું નથી એટલે ખાવા પીવાની તકલીફ પડતી. 

રાશનકાર્ડ પર મળતા રાશન અને વૃદ્ધ પેન્શન પર આ બે નભવા કોશીશ કરે. પણ દવાઓને અન્ય જરૃરિયાતો તો ઊભી રહેતી. 

મંજુલાબા કહે, 'મા જગદંબાને રોજ પ્રાર્થના કરતી કે નોંધારા ના મુકતી. તે જાણે ભગવાને પ્રાર્થના સાંભળી હોય એમ ચુણેલના દિલીપભાઈએ રજનીભાઈ (VSSM ના કાર્યકર)ને વાત કરી અને એમણે સ્થિતિ જોઈ અમને દર મહિને રાશન આપવાનું શરૃ કર્યું જેનાથી અમને ઘણી રાહત છે.'

VSSM થકી અને આપ સૌ સ્વજનોની મદદથી દર મહિને 435 નિરાધાર બા દાદાઓને રાશન આપવાનું ્અમે કરીએ.

Mittal Patel meets Jivi Ma

My life is at peace now; God will bless you with abundance and happiness!”  Jivi Ma showered us with her blessings. A resident of Zainabad of Patdi’s Dasada block, Jivi Ma, lost her young son to a heart attack two years ago. Madhuben, her daughter-in-law, could not take the shock; she lost her mental strength and suffered a stroke. Gradually she lost her ability to speak and remains confined to bed.

“It was better if god had taken me; this pain is unbearable….! But death does not come when asked for!” Jivi Ma reels under constant anguish.

Jivi Ma is a very senior citizen. Although ideally, Madhuben should be her caregiver, instead, at this age, it is Jivi Ma who has to take care of Madhuben.

Jivi Ma has a mentally challenged granddaughter, while the grandson is small. And sustaining all of them is now upon Jivi Ma. It is an everyday battle she fights to provide for the family.

The family lives near Bajaniya settlement, and the neighbors are supportive and help whenever possible, but they, too, survive under tremendous financial stress, so Jivi Ma, too cannot expect much from them.

VSSM began providing a monthly ration kit after we learned about this family. Our Kanubhai and Chayaben bring the kit to this family.

Recently, I had the opportunity to go see them, it seemed Madhuben was trying to convey something, but it was difficult for me to comprehend; her painful condition was difficult to witness. So I prayed for her well-being and that she may find freedom and peace.

આ આશિર્વાદ સુરેન્દ્રનગરના દશાડાના જૈનાબાદમાં રહેતા જીવીમાંએ આપ્યા. જીવામાંના જુવાન દીકરાને બે વર્ષ પહેલાં હાર્ટ એટેક આવ્યો ને એ ગુજરી ગયો. પણ દીકરાના ગયા પછી તેમની પુત્રવધુ મધુબહેન આ આઘાત સહન ન કરી શક્યા. એ માનસીક રીતે પડી ભાંગ્યા. લકવો થઈ ગયો અને ધીમે ધીમે બોલવાનું પણ બંધ થઈ ગયું. આજે એ પથારીવશ છે. 

જીવી મા કહે, 'આનુ દુઃખ નથી જોવાતું ભગવાન એને લઈ લે તો સારુ...' પણ મોત ક્યાં માંગ્યું મળે?

જીવીમાની ઉંમર ઘણી. પુત્રવધુ તરીકે મધુબહેને એમની ચાકરી કરવી પડે પણ સ્થિતિ એવી નિર્માણ થઈ કે જીવીમાને મધુબહેનની ચાકરી કરવી પડે છે.

જીવીમાને એક પૌત્રી જે માનસીક રીતે વિકલાંગ. ને એક નાનો પૌત્ર.. જીવામા આ બધાનું પુરુ કરવા કોશીશ કરે.. પણ પહોંચી ન શકે. 

એ જ્યાં રહેતે તે બજાણિયા વસાહતના લોકો તેમને મદદ કરે પણ એમની આસપાસમાં રહેતા સૌની સ્થિતિ પણ એક સાંધે ત્યાં તેર તુટે એવી. આમાં કાયમી મદદ કરવી તો મુશ્કેલ.

અમારા ધ્યાને આ પરિવારની સ્થિતિ આવી અમે ત્યાં રાશનકીટ આપવાનું શરૃ કર્યું. અમારા કનુભાઈ અને છાયાબહેન ત્યાં કીટ પહોંચાડે..

હમણાં આ પરિવારને મળવા ગયા તો મધુબહેન બે હાથ જોડી કશુંક કહેવા માંગતા હોય એવું લાગ્યું. જો કે મને કશું સમજાયું નહીં.

તેમની સ્થિતિ દયનીય છે. 

મધુબહેનના જીવને સાતા આપે અને તેમને ઝટ આ દુનિયામાંથી મુક્તિ આપે તેવી પ્રાર્થના તેમના માથે હાથ મુકીને કરી..

આવા માવતરો કે પરિવારોને અમે દર મહિને રાશનકીટ આપીયે..

Seventy plus years old Aamu Ma resides in Ahmedabad’s Odhav locality with her son and daughter. Both her children are mentally challenged. After the death of her husband, the responsibility of earning for the family has fallen on Aamuben. Currently, Aamu Ma makes her living by inserting pajama strings. She brings homework from a factory; it is a kind of work for which even her mentally challenged son be helpful. The earnings are enough to bring food to the table.

However, it is also a compulsion. Even when Aamu Ma feels unwell, she needs to continue working; otherwise, there would not be anything to eat. Saving money for a rainy day is a privilege this family does not enjoy.

After VSSM’s Madhuban and Hirenbhai learned about Aamu Ma’s condition, we began providing a monthly ration kit to the family. “The needs are endless, but the ration kit is great support.

આમુમાં અમદાવાદના ઓઢવામાં રહે. સંતાનમાં એક દીકરો ને એક દીકરી. પણ બેઉં માનસીક અસ્થિર. આમુમાની હાલ ઉંમર સીત્તેરથી વધારે. પતિ જીવતા ત્યાં સુધી ઘર ચલાવવામાં આમુમાને મદદ કરતા. આમુમા પાયજામામાં નાડા નાખવાનું કામ ફેક્ટરીમાંથી લાવે. આખો દિવસ એ કામ કરે ને એમનો ગુજારો થાય. એમનો દિકરો માનસીક વિકલાંગ પણ એ આમુમાને થોડી મદદ પણ કરે.

આવા આમુમા બિમાર પડે કે કામ કરવાનું મન ન થાય તે વખતે પણ ના છૂટકે કામને વળગ્યા રહે. મૂળ કામ ન કરે તો એ દિવસનો ચૂલો ન સળગે. બચત જેવું તો આ પરિવાર પાસે કશુંયે નહીં..એમની સ્થિતિ અમારા કાર્યકર મધુબહેન અને હીરેનના ધ્યાનમાં આવી અને અમે રાશન આપવાનું શરૃ કર્યું. આમુ મા રાજી છે. એ કે છે, જરૃરિયાતનો અંત નથી પણ આ ટેકો અમને ત્રણેયને ટકાવે છે..

આવા માવતરોને સાતા આપવાનું અમે કરીએ છીએ... જેમાં આપ સૌ સહયોગ કરો છો.. આપ સૌની આ લાગણી માટે આભારી છીએ...

“Look at me; don’t I look healthier than before?”

I was surprised when hearing-impaired Diva Ma from Gandhinagar’s Ridrol asked this question. I had been speaking very loudly, asking her if the ration reached her on time, was it sufficient? But Ma kept complaining of her inability to hear me.

“I am at peace now that I am getting food, and I have also grown healthier!” Diva Ma shows me her arms to show she has put on some weight because of eating regular meals.

When I asked her using hand gestures when I should visit her next, she told me to come next month with her ration kit.

This work that brings peace to destitute elderlies also gives us peace and joy. With the support and donations we receive from you, 316 elderlies have found a ray of hope during their silver years. And we are grateful for your kind gesture.

આ જુઓ મારુ શરીર પેલાં કરતાં હારુ થ્યું..'

આમ તો કાને એકદમ ઓછુ સાંભળતા ગાંધીનગરના રિદ્રોલના દિવામાએ આવું કહ્યું ત્યારે નવાઈ લાગી. 

હું એમને વારંવાર અને બહુ મોટેથી બોલીને પુછતી હતી કે તમને રાશન બરાબર મળે છે? આખો મહિનો ચાલી જાય છે. પણ બા,

'મન હોભળાતુ નહીં હોભળાતું નહીં' જ બોલે જતા હતા.છેવટે મે પુછવાનુ બંધ કર્યું ત્યારે એમણે જાતે કહ્યું, 

'ખાવા મલહ્ તે શોંતીહ્ અન મારુ શરીરેય હારુ થ્યું.' એમ કહીને એમણે પોતાના હાથ બતાવ્યા. 

હવે પાછી ક્યારે આવું તેવું ઈસારાથી પુછ્યું ત્યારે કહ્યું મહિને આવજો ને રાશન લઈને આવજો...સાંભળીને મજા પડી...

આવા નિરાધાર માવતરોને સાતા આપવાનું કામ અમે કરીએ. જે મનને શાંતિ આપવાનુ છે...

તમે સૌ સાથે છો માટે આવા 316 માવતરોને રાશન આપવાનું અમે કરી શકીએ છીએ.. આપ સૌની લાગણી માટે આભારી છું.

રિદ્રોલના દિવા મા જેવા અન્ય માવતરોને નિયમીત રાશન પહોંચાડવાનું અમારા કાર્યકર રીઝવાન કરે ને સ્થાનીક કીરણભાઈ કોઈ સ્વાર્થ વગર એમાં મદદ કરે..આવી સરસ ટીમ સાથે છે એનું ગૌરવ...
