Mittal Patel meets homeless nomadic families of kheda

“We have been staying at Hanuman Tekra on the banks of Vatrak river for years. Of course, this is government land devoid of any basic facilities. The constant fear of being asked to move from the land constantly lingers. Ben, can’t we get some land to build  a permanent house.”

Ranchodbhai Bajaniya was speaking for 24 families living on Hanuman Tekra. A similar request was also made by families living opposite Kheda police station. The families living in extremely poor conditions wander to neighbouring regions for work. 

“Everything around us has developed and moved ahead but we are at the same position,” says Rameshbhai Vansfoda.

The families need a permanent address. A place they can call their own.

VSSM’s Rajnibhai has prepared the applications for these families and submitted it to the concerned department.

Our Chief Minister Shri Vijaybhai Rupani wants to ensure that every homeless family gets a residential plot as soon as possible. Similar sentiments are also shared by Shri Ishwarbhai Parmar, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment. He has ensured that the families do not face challenges with regards documents like caste certificate etc.

In short, the combined efforts will ensure the fulfilment of our Prime Minister’s pledge to provide a home to all homeless by the end of 2022.  The forces are working for the marginalised. Hopefully, these Bajaniya families of Kheda will soon receive residential plots.

'વર્ષોથી ખેડામાં વાત્રક નદીના પટ પાસે, હનુમાન ટેકરા પર અમે રહીએ.. અહીંયા નથી ટોયલેટ કે નથી અન્ય સુવિધાઓ.. સરકારી જમીન પર રહીએ. કાલે કોઈ ખાલી કરાવી નાખશે નો ભય સતત રહ્યા કરે. તે હેં બેન અમને રહેવા કાયમી જગ્યા ન મળે?'

રણછોડભાઈ બજાણિયાએ ટેકરા પર રહેતા 24 પરિવારો વતી અમને રજૂઆત કરી. આવી જ રજૂઆત ખેડા પોલીસસ્ટેશન સામે રહેતા 16 વાંસફોડા પરિવારોએ પણ કરી..

ખૂબ કપરી સ્થિતિમાં જીવતા આ પરિવારો વર્ષોથી આ જગ્યા પર રહે ને કામ ધંધા માટે આજુ બાજુના વિસ્તારમાં વિચરણ કરે. 

રમેશભાઈ વાંસફોડા કહે, શહેર વિકસી ગયું પણ અમે જ્યાં છીએ ત્યાંના ત્યાં જ રહ્યા.આ પરિવારોને પોતાનું કાયમી સરનામુ જોઈએ. જ્યાંથી કોઈ એમને ખસેડી ન શકે. 

અમારા કાર્યકર રજનીભાઈએ આ પરિવારોની પ્લોટની માંગણીની અરજી તૈયાર કરીને કચેરીમાં આપી દીધી છે.

આપણા મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી વિજયભાઈ રૃપાણીની લાગણી આવા તમામ પરિવારોને પોતાનું સરનામુ ઝટ મળે તે માટેની છે. સામાજિક ન્યાય અધિકારીતા વિભાગ તરીકે શ્રી ઈશ્વરભાઈ પરમાર પણ જાતિ પ્રમાણપત્રને અન્ય બાબતમાં આ વંચિત પરિવારોને તકલીફ ન પડે તેનું ધ્યાન રાખે છે. 

ટૂંકમાં સૌની સંવેદના અને 2022 સુધીમાં ઘરવિહોણા તમામ પરિવારોને ઘર આપવાનું આપણા વડાપ્રધાન શ્રીનું સ્વપ્ન..

બધુયે વંચિતોની તરફેણમાં... એટલે ખેડામાં રહેતા બજાણિયા અને વાંસફોડા પરિવારોને પણ ઝટ પ્લોટ ફળવાય તેવી આશા રાખીએ.

Valabha and Puni Maa meets Mittal Patel during her visit to settlement

They are Valabha and Puni Maa, but to us, they are Hari’s Ma and Bapa. Both are madly in love with each other. Hari also took great care of them. Valabha had respiratory issues, he required regular medication. Hari worked double to afford Valabha’s medicines.

Hari was a married man with three kids, life was good. VSSM had provided him with an interest-free loan for livelihood restoration. One day all of a sudden hale and hearty Hari fell ill, within two days he passed away.

The responsibility of caring for Valabha and Puni Maa and the three children fell on Hari’s wife. VSSM decided to provide ration for the elderly couple as the burden of feeding five on the lone shoulders of Hari’s wife was a little too harsh. Hence, we decided to provide ration kits for the frail elderly couple.

The life of Valabha and Puni Maa took another turn when parents of their daughter-in-law took her with them with her youngest child. The responsibility of raising the elder two children fell on the old couple. They were required to perform the role and responsibility of parents at an age when the body could hardly support. They had no choice but to perform their duties!! We weren’t aware of this newly developed situation. Recently, Maa-Bapa cave over to meet me when I was in the settlement. They couldn’t talk about their agony but Chayaben and Kanubhai knew about the whole situation. To the VSSM team, these elderly are family.

“The ration does not suffice the needs of all four of us!” Chayaben conveyed on their behalf. Puni Maa begs near the temple, but her concern is always towards the three and five-year-old kids and Valabha who remain at home.

We asked them to not worry about anything now. “We shall take care of all your needs, increase the ration in the kits and once the kids are 6 years old will bring them to our hostel,” I assured.

The couple is unable to avail pension for the elderly as they do not have proof to certify their age.

Hari had wished for a pakka house for his parents, Valabha also has a plot issued in Ramparabeti. We will help construct the house for them with some government assistance and our contribution.

The efforts we have undertaken to bring food to the doorstep of the destitute elderly is extremely important to us. We are grateful to the Trustees of  Estate of Late Bomi Soarbji Bulsara Trust, our dear Maharshibhai and respected Bhanubahen Shah. It is because of such well-wishing donors VSSM becomes instrumental in reaching to these poorest of poor families.

નામ એમનું વાલા ભા ને પુની મા .. પણ અમે તો હરીના બાપા ને મા તરીકે જ બેયને ઓળખીએ.

બેયને એક બીજા માટે જબરો પ્રેમ..

હરી પણ આ બેયને બહુ પ્રેમથી સાચવતો. વાલા ભાને શ્વાસની બિમારી તે દવા નિયમિત જોઈએ. હરી કાળી મજૂરી કરીને પણ વાલા ભાને સાચવે.

પરણ્યો ને ત્રણ બાળકો થયા. સંસાર સુખી હતો. અમે હરીને લોન આપી તે એ સારુ કમાતોય થયો. પણ એક દિવસ અચાનક સાજો નરવો હરી બિમારીમાં પટકાયો ને બે દિવસમાં તો એ આ માયામાંથી મુક્ત થઈ ગયો.

હરીના ગયા પછી વહુ મજૂરી કરીને ત્રણ બાળકોને, પુની માને ને વાલા ભાને સાચવે. વહુ પર આ બેય માવતરની જવાબદારી આવીનો અમને ખ્યાલ આવ્યો એટલે એ થાકે નહીં માટે અમે આ માવતરોને દર મહિને રાશન આપવાનું નક્કી કર્યું.

પણ થોડા સમયમાં વહુના પિયરીયા આવ્યાને નાના બાળક સાથે એને પિયર તેડી ગ્યા ને બે છોકરાં આ ઘરડાં મા - બાપના માથે આવ્યા.

આ ઉંમરે ફરી મા- બાપની જેમ બાળકોને ઉછેરવાનું? વળી શરીર કામ કરી શકે એવું ક્યાં હતું તે આ બધુ થાય... પણ શું કરે?

આ બધી વાતનો અમને ખ્યાલ નહીં. એમની વસાહતમાં ગઈ એ વખતે આ બેય ખાસ મળવા આવ્યા.. પોતે મદદની વાત કહી ન શક્યા.. પણ અમારા કાર્યકર છાયાબહેન અને કનુભાઈને આ બધી ખબર. આ બેય પણ પરિવાર જેવું હેત આમના પર વર્ષાવે..

તે છાયાબહેનને સાથે રાખીને ચાર જણાની વચ્ચે રાશન પહોંચતું નથીની વાત એમણે કરી...મંદિર બહાર ભીખ માંગવાનું પુની મા કરે.. પણ જીવ તો છાપરાંમાં રેઢા મુકેલા ત્રણ ને પાંચ વર્ષના બાળકો ને વાલા ભામાં જ હોય..

અમે ચિંતા ન કરવા કહ્યું રાશન તો વધુ આપીશું. પણ નાની મોટી બીજી ચીજોનું પણ ધ્યાન રાખીશું. બે બાળકો છ વર્ષના થાય એટલે અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં દાખલ કરીશું..

વૃદ્ધ પેન્શન ઉંમરનું પ્રમાણપત્ર નથી માટે મળતું નથી પણ અમે પ્રયત્ન કરીશું.

હરીની ઈચ્છા પોતાનું પાકુ ઘર થાય એવી હતી. તે સરકાર દ્વારા રામપરાબેટીમાં વાલાભાને રહેવા પ્લોટ ફાળવ્યો છે. અમે એના ઉપર સરકારની મદદને અમારા પણ પૈસા ઉમેરીને ઘર બનાવી આપીશું..

આવા વડીલોના જીવને સાતા આપવાનું કાર્ય અમારે મન ખૂબ અગત્યનું છે..

આ કાર્ય માટે મદદ કરનાર એસ્ટેટ ઓફ લેટ બોમી સોરાબજી બુલસારા ટ્રસ્ટના ટ્રસ્ટીઓ, પ્રિય મહર્ષીભાઈ તેમજ આદરણીય ભાનુબહેન શાહના અમે આભારી છીએ.. આપ જેવા પ્રિયજનોના કારણે અમે આવા કાર્યોમાં નિમિત્ત બની શકીએ છીએ..

ઈશ્વર સૌને સુખ ને સાતા આપે તેવી પ્રાર્થના..
