 With faith, we carry out many service activities. When society supports these efforts, everything becomes possible.

Today, once again, we request your help for children’s education.

When we started the hostel, I remember a relative telling us,

“Do you realize how big the expense is to educate so many children?”

At that time, our reply was simple:

“We will work hard. God will also support this effort. And as the saying goes, a good beginning is never left incomplete.”

Even your smallest contribution is invaluable to us for building a brighter future for these children.

આજે ફરી એકવાર બાળકોના ભણતરમાં મદદ માટે વિનંતી.

જ્યારે હોસ્ટેલ શરૃ કરી ત્યારે મને યાદ છે અમારા એક સ્વજને કહેલું, "આટલા બધા બાળકોને ભણાવે તે આનો ખર્ચ કેટલો મોટો આવે ખ્યાલ છે તને?"

એ વખતે અમને કહેલું, "અમે મહેનત કરીશું. ઈશ્વર પણ આ કાર્યમાં મદદ કરશે વળી આપણે ત્યાં કહેવત છે ને આદર્યા અધુરા નથી રહેતા."

 A dream I have nurtured since 2011!!

To educate not one but thousands of children, to make them self-reliant. However, to realise this dream, we required land, which we did not have. We were looking for land; hence, we knocked on the doors of government, various organisations and wealthy individuals. We were hoping for someone to donate or allow us to use their land. But our efforts remained futile.

As they say, “things happen when they are destined to…” our search for land was also waiting for a favourable time.

We were in 2021, yet there was no sign of land. I was beginning to feel hopeless and tired, and the thought that it might not be possible to realise the dream also started to creep in…

It was just then that I thought of respected  Shri Chandrakantbhai Gogri, founder of Aarti Industries and one of our pioneering supporters.

Chandrakantbhai has always been our friend in need, who has held our hand through thick and thin. I requested him to help me buy five bigha land, to which he asked what do I intend to do upon that land? I began narrating the dreams I aspire to bring to life upon this land. “I don’t think five bighas would be enough to accommodate your dreams,” he responded by the end of my monologue.

“This is my dream, and I will leave the rest to yo!” I tell him. After which seeds were sown for Vallabh Vidya Mandir on 31 bighas of land at Pansar, which Chandrakantbhai bought for us. My dream had become a shared dream,  as Chandrakantbhai’s vision blended in.

“Mittal let us make an enclave where children receive technical education, they begin to earn a decent income, become capable of travelling abroad. Let us educate children in a manner they never fall short of skills.

It was time for the dream I had seen with my eyes wide open to turn into reality.  

On 1st May, at Pansar near Gandhinagar, we performed a groundbreaking ceremony for an all inclusive educational enclave that would house, educate and train more than 1000 children from marginalised families from all over Gujarat.

The ceremony was graced by respected Chandrakantbhai, his daughter Hetal, VSSM’s well-wishers, and long-time supporters.

The first phase of construction will include hostel buildings for girls and boys, to be followed by classrooms, training centres and much more. The idea is not only to raise children who have the essential skills to earn and live with dignity but are also responsible citizens.

I will remain eternally grateful to respected Adha (Shri Liladhar Gada – VSSM’s President), who has been my compatriot in this work right from the beginning and respected Lal Rambhiya (Lal uncle) for connecting us Chandrakantbhai.

I pray to the Almighty to help me turn the dream of educating the children from deprived communities into a reality. And may the universe inspire you to join the efforts. 

ભૂમી મંગલમ....

એક સ્વપ્ન 2011માં જોયું.

સ્વપ્ન એક નહીં પણ હજારો બાળકોને ભણતા કરવાનું, તેમને પગભર કરવાનું.. પણ આ સ્વપ્ન સાકાર કરવા જોઈએ જમીન. જે અમારી પાસે નહીં. સરકાર થી લઈને વિવિધ સંસ્થાઓ, માતબર મિલકત ધરાવનાર સૌને મળ્યા. મૂળ કોઈ ભૂમીનું દાન કરી શકે તો? અથવા વાપરવા આપી શકે એ માટે.. પણ મેળ ન પડે...

2013 થી જમીનની શોધ કરતા પણ કહે છે ને સમય વગર કશું થતું નથી.. બસ એવું જ થયું..

આખરે આવી 2021.. થાકી ગઈ હતી. સ્વપ્ન પૂર્ણ નહીં થાય એવુંયે ક્યાંય થયું..

ત્યાં સમાજ કાર્યોમાં શરૃઆતથી મદદ કરનાર આદરણીય ચંદ્રકાન્તભાઈ ગોગરી - સ્થાપક આરતી ઈન્ડસ્ટ્રીઝ યાદ આવ્યા. 

મારા માટે એ સંકટ સમયની સાંકળ જેવા.. એમને મે પાંચેક વિઘા જમીન લઈ આપવા કહ્યું. ત્યારે એમણે  પુછ્યું શું કરવું છે આ જમીન પર? ને હું બોલતી ગઈ... અમારી વાત પતી ને એમણે કહ્યું, જેટલું કહ્યું છે એ બધુ પાંચ વિઘામાં ન પતે!

મે કહ્યું, મે સ્વપ્ન કહ્યું હવે તમે જેમ કરો તેમ...

બસ પછી તો પાસનરમાં 31 વિધા જમીનમાં વલ્લ વિદ્યા મંદિરના બીજ રોપાય. મે સ્વપ્ન જોયું એમાં ચંદ્રકાન્તભાઈનું સ્વપ્ન પણ ભળ્યું. 

મિત્તલ એવું હટકે સંકુલ કરીયે જેમાં બાળકો તકનીકી શિક્ષણ મેળવે આપણે એમને સરસ કમાતા કરીએ. એ વિદેશ પણ જાય.. ક્યાંય પાછા ન પડે એવા બાળકો તૈયાર કરીએ...

ખુલ્લી આંખે જોયેલું સ્વપ્નને પુર્ણ કરવાનું હવે થશે. 

ગાંધીનગરની નજીક પાનસર મુકામે હજારથી વધુ બાળકો રહી ને ભણી શકે તેવા સંકુલનું નિર્માણ કાર્ય કરવા ભૂમીપૂજનનો કાર્યક્રમ 1 લી મેના રોજ આયોજીત કર્યો. 

આદરણીય ચંદ્રકાન્તભાઈ, તેમના દીકરી હેતલ ને VSSM ના કાર્યોમાં શરૃઆતથી મદદ કરનાર અન્ય સ્વજનો ખાસ ઉપસ્થિત રહ્યા. 

આ જમીન પર પ્રથમ તબક્કામાં દીકરા - દીકરીઓ માટે હોસ્ટેલ બંધાશે. પછી બંધાશે તેમને તાલીમ આપી શકાય તેવા તાલીમી વર્ગો ને બીજુ ઘણુંયે...

આ સંકુલમાં આવનાર બાળકો આર્થિક ઉપાર્જન તો કરશે પણ સાથે સાથે આ દેશના જવાબદાર નાગરિકી બને તેવું અમે ખાસ કરીશું.

આદરણીય અધા (લીલાધર ગડા- પ્રમુખ VSSM) શરૃઆતથી આ કાર્યમાં મારા સાથીદાર, આદરણીય લાલ રાંભિયા(લાલ અંકલ) - વલ્લ વિદ્યામંદિરના સ્વપ્નને સાકાર કરવા ચંદ્રકાન્તભાઈ સુધી વાત પહોંચાડનાર કડી તમારા બેઉની હું ઋણી છું.તમારા થકી ચંદ્રકાન્તભાઈ મને મળ્યા..

તકવંચિત બાળકોને ભણાવવા માટે સેવેલા મનોરથ કુદરત પુર્ણ કરાવે તેવી અભ્યર્થના.. ને વધુ લોકો આ કાર્યમાં સહયોગ કરે તેવી પ્રાર્થના...

At VSSM we like people to spread their wings and fly… Musabhai Dafer proved to be doing just that...

 Musabhai stays in Juna Padhar village near Viramgaum town.

Few years back, we had compelled him to send his children to school if he wanted our assistance in obtaining documents like ration card etc. The pre- condition worked and Musabhai’s children began attending school in Juna Padhar. We were expecting the village panchayat to allot residential plots to these Dafer families but things did not work-out as we expected. Musabhai had to leave the village. The family moved to Bhojwa where they set up their dangaa on the outskirts of the village.

“How were your exams?” I inquired to the children when I visited the new residence.

“They could not appear for exams as we had to move!!”

“You should have moved few days later, should have waited for exams to get over! You wasted their academic year, Musabhai”

“Where do I know all this, Ben! These kids  should have told me but, they also did not utter a word about exams, I am completely unaware of all these matters of admission and exams!”

This was 7 years back. Recently Musabhai called up to complain about the visits the police were making to their Dangaa and threating them to summon the weapons they possessed. Musanbhai was disturbed and disliked the police visiting the dangaa… “Ben, I do not like police frequenting the dangaa, please intervene to solve the issue!”

Next day, Musabhai and I along with Tohid and Maulik reached the office of Gandhinagar DGP.. The officials were very responsive and positive. They immediately called up LCB Sarkhej and ordered them to stop their acts of harassing Dafer. Delighted with the encouraging experience we had we set out to return back to Ahmedabad. Musabhai was with us, “Ben, when you come to our dangaa be firm with the parents and tell them to send their children to school. I have refused to do their work until they do not send them to school.” I was amazed at his concern. Is this the same Musabhai who, some years back did not know anything about school?  Today,  his concern for educating children had grown beyond his own children, he now cared to ensure that the children of entire Dangaa go to school.

At VSSM we like people to spread their wings and fly… Musabhai proved to be doing just that. He now rents 25 bighas to farm and earn his living. His hut has fan, small refrigerator and his stock of grains in neatly arranged containers. Of course, the grains are from fairprice shop but the family has understood the value of storing food and not buying it on daily basis.

“Ben, will you have rotla (millet flat-breads) with us?” he asked us.

“Of course, along with some dhokli nu shaak!” I requested.

As  when we sat down for lunch there were many other foods that had been prepared for us. The pleasure of enjoying such soulful meals with humble folks like Musabhai is second to none..

મુસાભાઈ ડફેર વિરમગામ પાસેના જુના પાધરમાં રહે.

બાળકોને ભણાવશો તો જ #મતદારકાર્ડ કાઢી આપીશું એવી મીઠી ધમકી એમને આપેલી ને પછી તો બાળકો નિયમિત શાળામાં જવા માંડ્યા. જુના પાધરમાં કાયમ આશરો મળશે એવી આશા જાગેલી પણ પછી એ ઠગારી નીવડી. ગામ છોડવું પડ્યું. ભોજવાની #સીમમાં ડંગા નાખ્યા. ત્યાં એમને મળવા ગઈ ને શાળામાં ભણતા છોકરાંઓને પુછ્યું પરિક્ષા કેવી ગઈ? 

‘પરિક્ષા ના આપી. ડંગા ઉપાડવાના હતા ને એટલે.’

‘કેમ ડંગા ચાર દી પછી ઉપાડવા હતા ને? એક ફેરા #પરિક્ષા પતવા દેવી હતી ને?

મુસાભાઈને કહ્યું, ‘આવું કેમ કર્યું છોકરાંઓનું વરસ બગાડ્યું.’

‘પણ મને ચો ખબર હતી આ પરિક્ષાની. છોકરાંઓને કેવું પડે ને મને એમ કે આ ગોમની નિશાળમાંથી દાખલા કાઢીને ભોજવાની નિશાળમાં આલી દઈશું. આવી પરિક્ષા બરીક્ષાની મન શું ખબર પડ?’

આ વાતને સાત – આઠ વર્ષ થયા. હમણાં ભોજવામાં #પોલીસ આવીને #હથિયાર બાબતે બધાને ધમકાવી ગઈ. ખુબ મહેનતુ ને ઈમાનદાર મુસાભાઈને પોલીસનું આમ ડંગામાં આવવું ગમ્યું નહીં. ફોન કરીને, ‘બેન ડોસી મરે તો વાંધો નહીં પણ જમડા ઘર ના ભાળવા જોઈએ, આ પોલીસનું કાંક કરો.’

બીજા દિવસે #ગાંધીનગર ડીજીપી ઓફીસ તોહીદ અને મૌલિક સાથે મુસાભાઈને અમે પહોંચ્યા. પોલીસે સહયોગ કર્યો સરખેજ એલ.સી.બી.ને ફોન કરીને આવું ના કરવા કડક શબ્દોમાં સૂચના આપી. 

સુખદ અનુભવ સાથે અમે પરત આવતા હતા. મુસાભાઈ પણ સાથે હતા એમણે કહ્યું, ‘બેન ડંગામાં આવો તો બધાને છોકરાં ભણાવવાનું ખખડાવીને કેજો. મે એમનું કામ કરવાની ના પાડી સે. જ્યાં સુધી છોકરાં નહીં ભણાવો તા લગી કોઈ કામ નહીં થાય.’

સાંભળીને નવાઈ લાગી આ એજ મુસાભાઈ જેમને પરિક્ષા શું છે એનીયે ખબર નહોતી એની જગ્યાએ આજે એમના બાળકોને તો એ નિશાળામાં મોકલે જ ને સાથે વસાહતના તમામ ના બાળકો પણ નિશાળમાં જાય એનીએ ચિંતાય કરે.

માણસો ઉગાડાવાનું કામ અમે કરીએ ને મુસાભાઈના રૃપમાં આજે ફરી એ દેખાયું. પચીસ વિધા જમીન ભાગવી ખેડે છે મુસાભાઈ. એમના છાપરાંમાં પંખા, નાનુ ફ્રીજ ને સૌથી અગત્યનું #અનાજ ભરેલા પાંચ ડબ્બા હતા. હા ડબ્બામાં અનાજ સસ્તા અનાજની દુકાનનું હતું પણ અનાજ ભરવાની ખબર પડી એ ગમ્યું. ને પાંચ રૃપિયાનું મરચુ, પાંચનું તેલ, બેનું મીઠુ એમાંથી એ નીકળ્યા એનો આનંદ થયો...

એમના ડંગામાં જવાનું હતું. એમણે પુછ્યુ, ‘રોટલા ખાશો?’ મે હા પાડી ને ઢોકળીનું શાક ને રોટલા કરજો એમ કહ્યું. પણ જમવા બેસાડ્યા ત્યારે બત્રીસ પકવાન પીરસ્યા... મજા પડી ગઈ...

Antyoday Ration Cards For 23 Nomadic families of Bhabhar block facilitated by VSSM

VSSM facilitates allocation of Antyoday Ration Cards to 23 Nomadic families of Bhabhar block. 

Recently, 23 families belonging to Vadee Communities, Devipujak Communities, Raval Communities, Meer Communities, Gadaliya Communities were allotted their Antyoday Ration Cards. The families belong to Balodhan, Mera and Kuvada villages of Bhabhar block in Banaskantha, The applications were filed three months back. Normally the time taken for issuance would be much more but with supportive and considerate official Mamlatdar Shri. Prakashbhai Chaudhary at realm the applications were process sooner than expected.

The Nomadic Communities because they do not have a permeant address, do not being to any one revenue village, aren’t aware of their fundamental rights suffer lot at the hands of authorities and villagers. Their ignorance makes them victims of mafia individuals who prowl and make money on pretext of getting them various citizenry documents. They may be staying in a village for past 25 years but still most of them do not possess any evidence of their residency in that village, since most of them aren’t wanted in the village the villagers also are least bothered in supporting the cause.

When the 23 families received their ration cards Rangabhai Vadee a resident of Balodan settlement asked VSSM’s Naranbhai, “ So how much money do we have to pay to get this Antyoday Card??

"Not a single penny, this is your right and once you apply you should get it, but why would you ask so?” Naranbhai replied.

Rangabhai couldn’t believe this because he had spent thousands on getting a Voter ID card and than some more to get a ration card that too  he received an APL ration card. Because of his ignorance and the  lack of documents of  proof made him an easy target. The presence of VSSM in nomadic settlements not only facilitates such  process but also prevents families from being  victims of such rackets…..

ભાભર તાલુકાના ૨૩ વિચરતા પરિવારોને vssmની મદદથી અંત્યોદય રેશનકાર્ડ મળ્યા..

આ દેશમાં જન્મ લેનાર તમામ વ્યક્તિને આ દેશના નાગરિક તરીકેના તમામ પુરાવા મેળવવાનો અધિકાર છે. સામાન્ય રીતે જે સ્થાઈ છે, જેમનું પોતાનું સરનામું છે એમને આ બધું મળવું મુશ્કેલ નથી. પણ વિચરતા પરિવારો કે જેમના પોતાના વસવાટના ઠેકાણા નથી એમના માટે આ બધું મેળવવું ખુબ કપરું છે. વર્ષોથી ગામમાં રહે છે પણ ગામના બીજા વ્યક્તિને મળતાં અધિકાર મેળવવા આ પરિવારો વલખાં મારે છે. બલોધણ ગામમાં રહેતાં રંગાભાઈવાદીએ મતદારકાર્ડ માટે ઘણા પૈસા ખર્ચ કર્યા પછી કાર્ડ મળ્યું. મૂળ તો વિચરતા હોવાના કારણે ગામના રહેવાસી છે એવો પુરાવો નહોતો એટલે પૈસા ખર્ચવાનું થયું. રેશનકાર્ડ માટે રૂ.૧૦૦૦ ઉપરાંતનો ખર્ચ કર્યો ત્યારે જતાં APL કાર્ડ મળ્યું. પણ એમના જ સમુદાયના ૭ પરિવારોને vssmની મદદથી મતદારકાર્ડ અને એ પછી અંત્યોદય રેશનકાર્ડ મળ્યા ત્યારે રંગાભાઈએ ‘આ કાર્ડ માટે કેટલા પૈસા આપવા પડે નારણભાઈ?’ (vssm ના કાર્યકર) એમ પૂછ્યું. નારણે કહ્યું, ‘એક રૂપિયો પણ નહિ આ તમારો અધિકાર છે અને તમને એ મળે જ’ પણ એમના માનવામાં આ આવતું નહોતું.

બનાસકાંઠા જીલ્લાના ભાભર તાલુકાના બલોધણ, મેરા, કુવાળા ગામમાં રહેતાં વાદી, દેવીપૂજક, રાવળ, મીર, ગાડલિયા સમુદાયના ૨૩ પરિવારોને 16 એપ્રિલ ૨૦૧૫ના રોજ અંત્યોદય રેશનકાર્ડ મળ્યા. અંત્યોદય રેશનકાર્ડ માટે આપણે ત્રણ મહિના પહેલાં અરજી કરી હતી. ભાભર તાલુકાના નાયબ મામલતદાર શ્રી પ્રકાશભાઈ ચૌધરી ખુબ જ ભલા માણસ અને એમના કારણે જ આ પરિવારોને અંત્યોદય કાર્ડ મળી શક્યા.

દેશમાં વસતા તમામ વ્યક્તિઓની અન્નસુરક્ષા જળવાય એવી અભ્યર્થના સાથે ફોટોમાં અંત્યોદય રેશનકાર્ડ સાથે પરિવારો..

Nomadic Tribes of Morbi - Vansfoda and Devipujak Families Receive Voter ID Cards

A settlement of nomadic families consisting of Vansfoda - Nomadic Communities and Devipujak - Nomadic Communities is situated Morbi-Kandla road. It has been here for a very long time. The Vansfoda families earn their living by taking work of greasing the vehicles while the Devipujak families collect scrap to later sell it in the scrap market. It’s a job requiring wandering through the day but they come back and spend most part of the year at one settlement. 

Inspite staying on one place for many years these families did not have any citizenry documents like the Voter ID cards or Ration card, their children weren’t going to school either.  The families had absolutely no access to any of the basic amenities. 

Nomads Residence (Distt.Morbi, Gujarat ) 

VSSM pursued the matter, as a result of which 32 families were allotted Voter ID cards which stands as their Identity Proof as well as part of Human Rights For Nomadic Tribes.Whenever it comes to Voter ID cards VSSM gets immense cooperation from the Chief Electoral Officer. The instructions from her office are responded swiftly by the district authorities. But getting Ration Card is all together a different ball game.  The processing period can get stretched to months if not a year. We have filed ration card applications for 7 families and are hopeful the officials will respond soon. 

As visible in the pictures the families currently stay in very poor living conditions there is no water, no power.. VSSM has initiated a Bridge School for the children in this settlement where they have been introduced to basics of learning which is part of Education for All and Right to Education actions. Once the families receive ration cards we plan to file for allotment of residential plots. This is just the beginning a lot needs to be done…. 

વિચરતા પરિવારોને સારી પરિસ્થિતિમાં પહોંચાડવાનો vssm નો નિર્ધાર સફળ થઇ રહ્યો છે...

મોરબીમાં રહેતાં વિચરતા પરિવારોને મળ્યા મતદારકાર્ડ..

મોરબીમાં કંડલા રોડ પર વાંસફોડા અને દેવીપૂજક પરિવારો વર્ષોથી છાપરાં બાંધીને રહે. વાંસફોડા સમુદાયનો પરંપરાગત વ્યવસાય વાંસમાંથી સુડલા- ટોપલા બનાવવાનો પણ વાંસ મોંધો થતા આ વ્યવસાય છોડી તેઓ મજૂરી તરફ વળ્યા. હાલમાં તેઓ વાહનોને ગીરીસ કરવાનું કામ કરે છે. જયારે દેવીપૂજક પરિવાર ભંગાર ભેગું કરીને વેચવાનું કામ કરે છે. હા એ માટે વિચરણ કરે પણ વર્ષનો મોટો ભાગ તેઓ આ વસાહતમાં જ રહે..

આ પરિવારો વર્ષોથી એક જગ્યા પર ઘણો સમય રહેતાં હોવા હતા છતાં

એમની પાસે મતદારકાર્ડ, રેશનકાર્ડ જેવા કોઈ પુરાવા નહોતા. એમના બાળકો સ્કૂલમાં પણ જાય નહિ. મૂળ તો શાળા દુર છે માટે. આ પરિવારોને મતદારકાર્ડ મળે એ માટે આપણે અરજી કરી અને અધિકારીગણની મદદથી ૩૨ વ્યક્તિને મતદાર કાર્ડ મળ્યાં. (એમાંના કેટલાકને ફોટોમાં જોઈ શકાય છે) એ પછી ૭ વ્યક્તિને રેશનકાર્ડ મળે એ માટે અરજી કરી છે. પરંતુ રેશનકાર્ડનું કામ ખુબ કપરું છે. મતદારકાર્ડ માટે મુખ્ય નિર્વાચન અધિકારીનો સક્રિય સહયોગ મળે છે અને જયારે જરૂર પડે એ કલેકટર શ્રીને સુચના પણ આપે છે. એમની સુચના છે એટલે આ કામ સરળતાથી પતી જાય છે પણ રેશનકાર્ડ મેળવવા લોઢાના ચણા ચાવવા જેવું છે.. જોકે અમને આશા છે કે આ પરિવારોને ઝડપથી કાર્ડ મળે પછી એમને કાયમી પ્લોટ મળે એ માટે અરજી કરવાની છે. હાલમાં તેઓ જ્યાં રહે છે ત્યાં વીજળી અને પાણીની સુવિધા પણ નથી.. જે ફોટોમાં જોઈ શકાય છે. આમ તો માનવીય દ્રષ્ટિથી વિચારીએ તો આ પરિવારો જે સ્થિતિમાં રહે છે એ નર્ક જ છે અને આવા નર્કાગારમાંથી આ પરિવારોને બહાર કાઢવાનો vssm નો નિર્ધાર છે. એમના બાળકો માટે vssm દ્વારા વૈકલ્પિક શાળા ચાલે છે જ્યાં બાળકો નિયમિત ભણતા થયા છે.. થોડું થયું છે અને ઘણું કરવાનું બાકી છે..
