Building Hope for Diwaliba Before This Diwali with the help from VSSM...

“In our village, there is a mother and her son living in extremely difficult conditions. We hope you can visit them once and offer any help possible,”

– This request came from Bhemabhai Rabari, a respected leader from Makdala village in Banaskantha, along with former Sarpanch Shri Narsinhbhai. They conveyed this to our dedicated team members, Narabhai and Ratnabhai.

We have been working in Makdala, constructing a Jal Mandir (Water Temple) and now also building a Tree Temple. After reviewing the progress of these projects, we went to Bhemabhai’s house for a meal—and from there, we visited Diwaliba, whose situation they had spoken to us about.

Diwali—such a beautiful name. But sadly, her life bears none of the light or joy the name suggests. Her husband passed away a while ago.

She has a young son, but he was tragically injured in an accident that left him with a spinal cord condition, making him completely bedridden.

The family now struggles for even basic necessities.

Diwaliba says: “We manage on the old age pension and whatever ration we get through our ration card.”

At times of extreme need, she turns to the compassionate farmers of the village, who support her however they can.

This is how her days go on—quietly, bravely.

We sat in the small courtyard of her house.

There’s not much of a house, really—just a thatched roof under which they sleep. Her heart wishes for a room, a kitchen, and a toilet-bathroom—but she has no means to make this dream a reality.

Moved by her situation, Narsinhbhai and the current Sarpanch offered to provide monthly rations to the family.

Narsinhbhai also added, “We as a village will contribute a small portion for building a house.”

We agreed: if the village gives 20% of the cost, we will contribute the remaining and build them a modest, dignified home.

This "Kush Home" will be built in memory of our beloved Kushalbhai.

Kishorbhai Patel (Uncle), who supports us in such efforts, always says:

“You are free to decide which families need a home. Just let me know when you've chosen, and do what feels right.”

I’m deeply grateful for this trust.

So far, we have been instrumental in building over 250 Kush Homes.

If more people come forward to join us, we can provide permanent homes to many more homeless families.

Through VSSM, we have already built homes for 1,765 families, and we hope to build many more in the coming years.

With God’s grace, may this vision be fulfilled.

The village of Makdala agreeing to contribute 20% is truly commendable.

In truth, every village has families like Diwaliba’s—struggling, vulnerable.

If each village could contribute even 50%, then organizations like ours and respected members of society can join hands more naturally and help build homes for countless families.

May this year’s Diwali for Diwaliba be celebrated in a home that she can call her own.

 “અમારા ગામમાં એક મા અને દિકરો રહે છે હાલત અત્યંત ખરાબ છે તમે એક ફેરા મુલાકાત કરી શક્ય મદદ કરો એમ ઈચ્છીએ છીએ.”

બનાસકાંઠાના મકડાલાગામના આગેવાન ભેમાભાઈ રબારી તેમજ પૂર્વ સરપંચ શ્રી નરસિંહભાઈએ આ વાત અમારા કાર્યકર નારણભાઈ અને રત્નાભાઈને કરી. મકડાલામાં અમે જળમંદિરનું નિર્માણ કર્યું સાથે વૃક્ષ મંદિરનું નિર્માણ પણ કરી રહ્યા છે. અમે કામ કેવું થઈ રહ્યું છે એ જોવા ગયા પછી ભેમાભાઈના ઘરે જમવા ગયા ને ત્યાંથી જેમની મુલાકાત માટે વાત કરેલી એ દિવાળીબાના ઘરે. દિવાળી નામ કેવું સરસ પણ એમના જીવનમાં દિવાળી જેવું કશું નહીં. બાના ઘરવાળા થોડા સમય પહેલા ગુજરી ગયા. એક જુવાન દિકરો ખરો પણ એને કોઈ અકસ્માત થયેલો જેમાં કરોડરજ્જુની બિમારી થઈ અને એ પથારીવશ થઈ ગયો. ઘરમાં ખાવાપીવાની તકલીફ ઊભી થઈ. દિવાળી બા કહે એમ, “બુઢા પેન્શન આવે અને રેશનકાર્ડ પર જે રેશન મળે એમાં એમનું જીનવ ચાલે.” ક્યારેક ગામના સક્ષમ ખેડૂતોના દ્વારે જરૃરિયાતના સમયે એ ઊભા રહે ને સૌ એમનાથી થાય તે ટેકો કરે. આમ એમનું જીવન નભે.

દિવાળીબાના ઘરના ફળિયામાં અમે બેઠેલા. ઘર જેવું કશું નહોતું એક ઢાળિયું હતું જેમાં એ સુતા. મનની ભાવના એક રૃમ,રસોડુ અને ટોયલેટ બાથરૃમ થઈ જાય એવી પણ એમાંનું કશું કરી શકવાની એમની ક્ષમતા નહીં.

નરસિંહભાઈ અને સરપંચ શ્રી બંનેએ દર મહિને રાશન આપવા મદદ માટે કહ્યું.

નરસિંહભાઈએ કહ્યું, “ઘર બાંધકામમાં અમે ગામ તરીકે નાનો ટેકો કરીશું.” અમે એમને 20 ટકા રકમ ગામ કાઢે ને બાકીની અમે આપીશું એમ કરીને નાનકડુ ઘર કરી આપવા સહમતી દર્શાવી.

અમારા પ્રિય કુશલભાઈની સ્મૃતિમાં આ કુશહોમ અમે બાંધીશું. કિશોરભાઈ પટેલ (અંકલ) આ કાર્યમાં મદદ કરે એ કહે, “તમને ઠીક લાગે એ પરિવારોના ઘર બાંધકામ કરવાની છુટ છે.” અંકલને અમે ક્યારેક નક્કી કર્યા પછી જાણ કરીએ કે આ પરિવારનું ઘર બાંધવાનું નક્કી કર્યું છે. ને અંકલ એમાં ભરોષો રાખી યોગ્ય લાગે તેમ કરો એમ કહે. એમના આ ભરોષો માટે આભારી છું. અત્યાર સુધી 250 થી વધારે કુશ હોમ બાંધવામાં નિમિત્ત બન્યા છીએ. બસ વધુ લોકો આપણી સાથે જોડાય તો ઘણા ઘરવિહોણાને પાકકુ ઘર આપી શકીશું.

VSSM થકી અત્યાર સુધી 1765 પરિવારોના ઘર બાંધી ચુક્યા છીએ ને આવનારા વર્ષોમાં અનેકોના ઘર બાંધવાની મનછા છે. ઈશ્વર એ પુરી કરાવે એવી શુભભાવના..

મકડાલા ગામે 20 ટકા રકમ આપવા કહ્યું એનો રાજીપો. આમ તો દરેક ગામમાં આવા ઘરવિહોણા પરિવારો રહે. આ તમામના ઘર બાંધવા માટે ગામ 50 ટકા રકમ કાઢે તો અમારી જેવી સંસ્થાઓ સમાજના પ્રતિષ્ઠિત વ્યક્તિઓને આ કાર્યમાં વધારે સાહજિક રીતે જોડી શકે અને અનેકોના ઘર બાંધી શકે.

બસ દિવાળીબાની આ વર્ષની દિવાળી એમની ઈચ્છા મુજબના ઘરમાં ઊજવાય એવી શુભેચ્છા.

"मै कडी धूप में चलता हूं

ईस यकीन के साथे

मैं जलुंगा तो मेरे 

घर में उजाला होगा

घर मे चूला जलेगा.."

"I walk in the scorching sun

With this belief;

If I burn, 

my house will be lit and

Food would be cooked on the burning stove."

Proving these poetic lines, I happened to meet some families in the border area of the small desert of Paatdi, Dasaadaa, which is known for its saline soil in Gujarat. 

One notable village is Jaravala, where the Bajaniya families of nomadic tribe reside, located away from the main village. We arrived in the sweltering heat to find that these families live in clay huts on land owned by the forest department. Their livelihood depends on agricultural labor; however, the area's conditions mean they do not have consistent work throughout the year.

In this situation, we applied for the Antyodaya Ration Card to ensure food security for these families. The government is very responsive to this issue. The Honorable Chief Minister and the Welfare Department have been extremely supportive of our mission. With their cooperation, we have successfully provided Antyodaya cards to thousands of families so far.

After advocating for families living in Jarvalaa, they successfully received their Antyodaya cards. We also played a key role in helping these families obtain their Caste Certificates. Currently, we are working to secure a permanent place for them to live. The Honorable Chief Minister is also supportive of this cause, which gives us hope that this task will be completed quickly.

Surendranagar Collector Dr. Rajendra Kumar is a compassionate officer. We met him as well, and he has promised to assist homeless families from nomadic tribes living in Surendranagar district. We are thankful for his support.

Gelabhai expresses his happiness about receiving the ration card. "To be honest, we don't have the skills to handle the paperwork in government offices. But after getting the card, we receive 35 kg of grains, sugar, and sometimes pulses as well. This support means a lot to us."

Supporting families like Gelabhai's would be impossible without a strong team. This mission is made possible thanks to the support of Respected Pratulbhai Shroff and the Dr. K R Shroff Foundation, for which we are very grateful. 

All of this has been achieved through the hard work of our dedicated activists, Harshadbhai and Chhanabhai, from Surendranagar. We are fortunate to have such committed volunteers on our team.

આ પંક્તિઓને સાર્થક કરતા પરિવારોને હમણાં મળવાનું થયું. ગુજરાતનો ખારોપાટ એટલે પાટડી, દસાડાનો નાના રણની કાંધીએ આવેલો વિસ્તાર. 

ત્યાંનું જરવલા ગામ. બજાણિયા પરિવારો ગામથી દૂર રહે. બળબળતી ગરમીમાં અમે ત્યાં પહોંચ્યા. જંગલ  વિભાગની જમીનમાં ગાર માટીમાંથી બનાવેલા ઘરોમાં આ પરિવારો રહે. ખેતમજૂરી પર સૌ નભે. પણ વિસ્તાર  એવો તે બારે મહિના મજૂરી ન મળે. 

આવામાં આ પરિવારોની અન્ન સુરક્ષા જળવાય તે માટે અમે અત્યોદય રેશનકાર્ડ માટે અરજી કરી. સરકાર વિચરતી જાતિઓના મુદ્દે ઘણી સંવેદનશીલ આદરણીય મુખ્યમંત્રી તેમજ પૂરવઠા વિભાગ પણ અમને આ કાર્યમાં ખુબ સહયોગ કરે. એમના સહયોગથી અત્યાર સુધી હજારો પરિવારોને અંત્યોદય કાર્ડ અમે અપાવી શક્યા છીએ. 

જરવલામાં રહેતા પરિવારોને અંત્યોદય કાર્ડ મળે તે કરેલી રજૂઆતને પગલે તેમને અંત્યોદય કાર્ડ મળ્યા. જાતિના પ્રમાણપત્ર આ પરિવારોને મળે તે માટે પણ નિમિત્ત બન્યા.

બસ હવે રહેવા પોતાની જગ્યા મળે તે માટે મથી રહ્યા છીએ. આદરણીય મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રીની લાગણી છે તો એ કાર્ય પણ ઝટ પતશે એમ લાગે છે. 

સુરેન્દ્રનગર કલેક્ટર શ્રી ડો. રાજેન્દ્રકુમાર પણ ઘણા ભલા અધિકારી. એમને પણ મળવાનું થયું. એમણે વિચરતી જાતિના સુરેન્દ્રનગર જિલ્લામાં રહેતા ઘરવિહોણા પરિવારોને મદદ કરવાની ખાતરી આપી છે. એમની આ લાગણી માટે પણ આભારી..

રેશનકાર્ડ મળ્યાનો હરખ કેવો એ અંગે ગેલાભાઈ કહે, “હાચુ કહીએ તો સરકારી કચેરીમાં કાગળિયા કરવાની અમારી આવડત નહીં. પણ કાર્ડ મળ્યા પછી અમને 35 કિ.ગ્રામ અનાજ, ખાંડ અને ક્યારેક દાળ પણ મળે છે. અમને એનાથી મોટો ટેકો..”

ગેલાભાઈ જેવા પરિવારોને ટેકો આપવાનું કાર્ય મજબૂત ટીમ વગર અશક્ય. આદરણીય પ્રતુલભાઈ શ્રોફ - ડો. કે.આર.શ્રોફ ફાઉન્ડેશન આ કાર્યમાં મોટો ટેકો કરે એટલે આ બધુ થાય. પ્રતુલભાઈના અમે ઘણા આભારી.

Mittal Patel meets Balukaka in Lodhra

 "An extra packet of chili came with this month's ration kit. How should I send it back? It must have been someone else. Please take it when you pass by from me ..."

Every month, we provide ration to around 700 elderly families. As part of this, we also gave a kit to Balukaka, who lives in Lodhra, Gandhinagar. The shopkeeper prepared the kits, and by mistake, two packets of chilli were added to his kit. Neither the shopkeeper nor our worker Rizwanbhai was aware of this mistake. But when Balukaka opened the kit and saw the two packets, he thought it was a mistake and immediately called me to inform about it.

Balukaka has lost the use of half of his body. His wife, though she can still do some work, goes to people's houses to clean or do the dishes, and sometimes even works in the fields. But their situation is dire.

The village's Prahladbhai informed us about this family. Prahladbhai is one of our loan members and helps us with time donations for social work. We decided to provide ration to this family. For the first time, we sent Prahladbhai to deliver the kit to Balukaka's house. When they saw the ration, both of their eyes filled with tears of joy. They said, "For the past three days, we were only surviving on tea, we had nothing to eat, but now..."

Then they opened the ration kit and when they saw garlic inside, they were overjoyed. Garlic was a bit expensive at that time. They said, "We haven't had garlic for two months, but you..." They couldn't speak any further, but their emotions were evident. When we met them, there was contentment visible on their faces. They don't have a house of their own to live in and are staying in someone's shed.

When we asked if they needed anything else, they folded their hands and said, "What you give is enough. May God bless you and give you the strength to serve many others." Hearing their situation, my eyes filled with tears.

I pray that no one else has to face such a situation...

However, now they are relieved. This relief has come with the support of kind-hearted people like you. We are grateful for that. The Dr. K.R. Shroff Foundation has been a tremendous help in this effort. Additionally, many other well-wishers, like Ashwinbhai Chaudhary, who help provide rations to many families, are equally crucial. If we all come together, we can satisfy the hunger of many such families.

I pray that nature always provides for the well-being of everyone."

"મરચાનું વધારાનું એક પેકટ આ વખતની રાશનની કીટ સાથે આવી ગયું છે, તે એને કેવી રીતે પાછુ મોકલાવું? બિચારા કોકનું હશે. તે તમે આવતા જતા લઈ જજોને..."

અમે દર મહિને 700 જેટલા નિરાધાર માવતરોને રાશન આપીયે. એના જ ભાગરૃપે ગાંધીનગરના લોદ્રામાં રહેતા બાલુકાકા ને પણ કીટ આપેલી. દુકાનદારે કીટ બનાવી એ વખતે ભૂલથી મરચાના બે પેકેટ એમની કીટમાં મુકાઈ ગયા. આ થયાનું દુકાનદાર ને કે અમારા કાર્યકર રીઝવાનભાઈ બેમાંથી કોઈને ખબર નહીં. પણ બાલુકાકાએ કીટ ખોલીને એમાં બે પેકેટ જોયા એટલે કોકનું મારી પાસે આવી ગયું એમ વિચારી જીવ બાળ્યો ને પાછો ફોન કરીને આ વિગત કહી.

કાકાના અડધા અંગને લકવો પડી ગયો છે. કાકી હજુ થોડું કામ કરી શકે તે લોકોના ઘરોમાં કચરા- પોતુ કરવા કે વાસણ કરવા જાય તો ક્યારેક ખેતરમાં પણ કામે જાય. પણ એમની પરિસ્થિતિ વીકટ.

ગામના પ્રહલાદભાઈએ અમને આ પરિવારની વાત કરી. પ્રહલાદભાઈ અમારા લોન ધારકને અમને સેવાકાર્યમાં સમયદાન આપે. અમે આ પરિવારને રાશન આપવાનું નક્કી કર્યું. પહેલીવાર પ્રહલાદભાઈને જ કાકાના ઘરે કીટ આપવા મોકલ્યા. ને રાશન જોઈને બેયની આંખમાં હર્ષાસુ આવી ગયા. એમણે કહ્યું. "ત્રણ દિવસથી માત્ર ચાના સહારે બેઠા હતા.ખાવા નહોતું. તે આજે..."

એ પછી એમણે રાશન કીટ ખોલી અને અંદર લસણ જોયું તો ખુબ હરખાયા. એ વખતે લસણ જરા મોંધુ હતું. એમણે કહ્યું, "બે મહિનાથી લસણ ભાળ્યું નહોતું પણ તમે...." એ કશું બોલી ન શક્યા. પણ બધુ સમજી શકાય એવું હતું. એમને જ્યારે મળ્યા ત્યારે એમના મોંઢા પર સંતોષ દેખાતો હતો. એમની પાસે રહેવા પોતાનું ઘર નથી. કોઈકની ઓસરીમાં એ રહે. 

વધારે કશું જોઈએ એવું પુછ્યું તો, બે હાથ જોડીને તમે આપો એ ઘણું છે. ભગવાન તમને ખુબ આપે ને અનેકોની સેવા કરાવે એવા આશિર્વાદ આપ્યા. પણ એમની હાલતની વાતો એમણે કરી એ સાંભળી આંખ ભરાઈ આવી. 

ભગવાન આવી દશા કોઈની ન કરની પ્રાર્થના...

જો કે હવે એમને નિરાંત છે.. આ નિરાંત આપવાનું આપ જેવા સ્વજનોના ટેકાથી થયું છે. એ માટે આભારી છીએ. ડો.કે.આર.શ્રોફ ફાઉન્ડેશન આ કાર્યમાં ખુબ મોટી મદદ કરે. એ સિવાય પણ અશ્વિનભાઈ ચૌધરી જેવા અનેક સ્વજનો જેઓ ઘણા મોટા પ્રમાણમાં માવતરોને રાશન આપવામાં મદદ કરે. આપ સૌ સાથે આવશો તો આવા અનેકોના જઠારાગ્નિને સંતોષવાનું આપણે  કરી શકીશું. 

કુદરત સૌના શુભમાં હંમેશા નિમિત્ત બનાવે તેવી પ્રાર્થના....

"Ben, if you have time, let's go and meet our relative in Soni village."

After agreeing, we reached Soni in Diyodar. We entered the Dalit neighborhood of the village. The entire area was very clean. Seeing us, many people came out of their houses. We were heading towards one particular house. The porch of the house was covered with plastic tarpaulin. It gets very cold in Banaskantha, so this is a way to protect against the cold.

We entered the house. In the porch, there were two cots, one with an elderly woman sitting on it and the other with her son lying down, his head upside down, smiling softly.

Our worker, Naranbhai, said, "Dahiba is having trouble breathing. Her health is also not good. Her son is disabled. We provide them with rations, and the government gives her a widow pension of a thousand rupees, which helps the family."

Dahiba needs regular medication. A compassionate person from the village regularly brings her medicine for free. A well-wisher of VSSM, Ashwinbhai, on time, sends rations for Dahiba. When we have such compassionate people for the needy, our work becomes easier.

Dahiba spent her whole life doing agricultural labor, but now she can't work anymore. No one in the family is able to earn and provide for her. To ensure that she doesn't go hungry, we give her rations. Otherwise, it wouldn't be appropriate to say this, but we do this out of necessity.

Dear Ashwinbhai Chaudhary, who lives in Palanpur, has helped in providing rations for Dahiba. Ashwinbhai distributes rations to around 100 such relatives. We are grateful for sensitive individuals like him. From a very young age, he has been dedicated to the service of others.

Every month, we deliver rations to 600 destitute elderly people. If all of you could also participate in this work, we could reach many more underprivileged individuals.

We are grateful to God for making us instruments in such work..."

 "દીદી સમય છે તો આપણે સોની ગામમાં આવેલા આપણા માવતરને મળી લઈએ."

મે હા પાડીને અમે પહોંચ્યા દિયોદરના સોનીમાં. ગામના દલીત વાસમાં અમે પ્રવેશ્યા. આખો વાસ એકદમ ચોખ્ખો. અમને આવેલા જોઈને કેટલાય લોકો ઘરની બહાર આવ્યા. અમે એક ઘરની નજીક જઈ રહ્યા હતા. એ ઘરની ઓસરી પ્લાસ્ટિકની તારપોલીનથી કવર કરેલી. બનાસકાંઠામાં ટાઢ ખુબ પડે એટલે ક્યાંક ઠંડીથી બચવાનો આ જુગાડ.

અમે ઘરમાં પ્રવેશ્યા. ઓસરીમાં બે ખાટલા ઢાળેલા એકમાં એક બા બેઠેલા ને બીજામાં એમનો દીકરો ઊંધું માથું કરીને મંદ મંદ હસ્યા કરે. 

અમારા કાર્યકર નારણભાઈએ કહ્યું, "ડાહીબાને શ્વાસ ચડે. તબીયત પણ ઠીક નથી રહેતી. એમનો દીકરો દિવ્યાંગ. આપણે રાશન આપીએ અને સરકાર દ્વારા વિધવા પેન્શન ના હજાર રૃપિયા આવે એનાથી ઘર ચાલે."

બાને દવાઓની નિયમીત જરૃર પડે. તે ગામના સેવાભાવી વ્યક્તિ બાને નિયમીત વિનામુલ્યે દવા આપી જાય. VSSMના શુભેચ્છક સ્વજન એવા અશ્વિનભાઈ સમયસર અમારા વતી બાને રાશનની કીટ પહોંચાડે. દરિદ્રનારાયણ માટે અનુકંપા ધરાવનાર આવા વ્યક્તિઓ હોય તો અમારા કામો પણ સરળ થઈ જાય. 

બાએ આખી જીંદગી ખેતમજૂરી કરી. પણ હવે કામ નથી થતું. પરિવારમાં કમાઈને ખવડાવે એવું કોઈ નહીં. એમને ઓશિયાળી ન રહે માટે અમે રાશન આપીએ.. આમ તો અમે એવું કહેવું પણ ઉચીત નહીં. નિમિત્ત બનીએ એવું કહેવું યોગ્ય.

પ્રિય અશ્લિનભાઈ ચૌધરી પાલનપુરમાં રહે એમણે આ બાને રાશન આપવામાં મદદ કરે. અશ્વિનભાઈ 100 જેવા માવતરોને રાશન આપે. એમના જેવા સંવેદનશીલ વ્યક્તિના અમે આભારી છીએ. બહુ નાની ઉંમરથી એમણે સેવાના ક્ષેત્રમાં પગરણ માંડ્યા છે. 

600 નિરાધાર બા દાદાઓને અમે દર મહિને રાશન પહોંચાડીએ. તમે સૌ પણ આ કાર્યમાં સહભાગી બની શકો તો આવા અનેક તકવંચિતો સુધી આપણે પહોંચી શકીશું.. 

આવા કાર્યમાં નિમિત્ત બનાવનાર કુદરતના અમે આભારી...

You have worked with renowned artists like Kaka Kirtidan Bhai and Farida Meer, so you must have earned a lot of money, right?' 'Yes, sister, I earned a lot.' 'So why didn't you save it?' 'What was the point of saving it?' 'It would be useful in old age.' 'I thought my son would be the support in my old age, but he is no longer here, so what use is money?' 'Still, everyone saves...' Before Amrat Kaka from Patan could answer, his neighbor said, 'No one who comes to Kaka's house leaves empty-handed... Kaka has fed and given a lot to everyone.'

Amrat Kaka's words were delightful. He also had a lot of spiritual knowledge. He said, 'What is the point of saving? Nothing will come with you when you die. And won't God send someone to feed the hungry? You were sent to us... so we must not distrust Him.'

Kaka and his wife Ishaba, who had such faith, lost their only son and became destitute. Currently, they receive an old-age pension and manage to live on the ration kits we provide them.

Kaka played the manjira exceptionally well in folk performances. Even today, if there is an event, Kaka gets up and goes. We had many conversations with him, all of which are available as videos on our YouTube channel.

When we were about to leave after meeting Kaka, he took out a five hundred rupee note to give us. He said, 'How can I let you go empty-handed?'

This incident taught us a lot about what generosity means.

In Patan and Banaskantha, Ashwin Bhai Chaudhary from Palanpur helps provide rations to a hundred such elderly individuals. Despite being young, he has made significant progress in the construction field and joyfully shares what God has given him.

 'કાકા કીર્તીદાનાભાઈ, ફરિદા મીર વગેરે જેવા નામી કલાકારો સાથે કામ કર્યું છે તો પૈસાય મળતા હશે ને?'

'હા બેન ઘણા મળ્યા'

'તો ભેગા કેમ ન કર્યા?'

'ભેગા કરીને શું કરવાનું?'

'ઘડપણમાં કામ આવે'

'દીકરો હતો એ ઘડપણની લાઠી બનત એવું લાગતું હતું પણ એય ક્યાં રહ્યો, તો પૈસા શું રહેત?'

'છતાં બચત તો સૌ કરે..'

પાટણના રવિન્દ્રાના અમરતકાકા આનો જવાબ આપે તે પહેલા તેમના પડોશીએ કહ્યું, 'કાકાના ત્યાં કોઈ પણ વ્યક્તિ માંગવા આવે એ ક્યારેય ખાલી હાથે ન જાય.. કાકાએ ખુબ ખવડાવ્યું ને આપ્યુય બધાને ઘણું..'

અમરતકાકાની વાતો મજાની હતી. આધ્યાત્મીક જ્ઞાન પણ ઘણું એ કહે, 'ભેગુ કરીને શું કરવાનું એ કશું સાથે નહીં આવે. ને ભગવાન ભૂખ્યા ક્યાં સુવાડે? તમારા જેવાને મોકલી દીધા ને.. તો અવિશ્વાસ નહીં કરવાનો..'

આવી શ્રદ્ધા ધરાવતા કાકા અને એમના પત્ની ઈશાબાનો એકના એક દિકરો ગુજરી ગયો ને દંપતિ  નિરાધાર બન્યું. હાલ બેઉને વૃદ્ધ પેન્શન મળે ને અમે આપીયે એ રાશનકીટ એનાથી જીવન ચાલી જાય છે. 

કાકા લોકડાયરામાં ગજબ મંજિરા વગાડતા. આજેય વાયક આવે તો કાકા ઉપડી જાય. ખુબ બધી વાતો એમની સાથે થઈ એ બધી અમારી યુટ્યુબ ચેલનમાં વિડીયો સ્વરૃપે મુકી છે..

કાકાને મળીને અમે નીકળી રહ્યા હતા ત્યારે એમણે પાંચસોની નોટ કાઢી અમને આપવા. એ કહે, 'ખાલી હાથે તમને કેમ જવા દેવાય..'

ઉદારતા કોને કહેવાય એના વિષે આ વાતથી જ ઘણું સમજાઈ ગયું.

પાટણ અને બનાસકાંઠામાં રહેતા આવા 100 માવતરોને રાશન આપવામાં પાલનપુરના યુવાન અશ્વિનભાઈ ચૌધરી મદદ કરે. એમણે બાંધકામ ક્ષેત્રે નાની ઉંમરમાં ઘણી પ્રગતિ સાધી ને ઈશ્વરે જે આપ્યું એ હરખથી એ વહેંચે..

અશ્વિનભાઈ ખુબ સુખી થાય એવી શુભભાવના..

Mittal Patel meets Panchabhai and his son

In the village of Devkigalol in Jetpur District in Rajkot stays Panchabapa. The house of Panchabapa is right in the middle of the street. The small house is built with raw bricks. Panchabapa has no money to do the flooring so the house would get flooded in monsoon. He would keep on removing the water. The walls were weak and it would become damp in the monsoon. When there is lightning it feels that the house would collapse. 

Panchabapa does the work of a cobbler. He has a lot of self respect and would never ask for help from anyone. He has a son who was handicapped. & therefore could not work. Father & son stayed together in a small room.

Bapa's vision had also grown weak yet he would cook food. His neighbours would also take proper care of him but everyone has their own house to take care of. So Bapa would not like to bother them.

Bapa's house did not have proper vessels. We reached his home in the afternoon. There were Rotis made but there was no vessel to keep it safe. Rotis were kept in a wax bag.

Both father & son could not work. We provide them with the monthly food kit. This helps them to meet their daily food requirement and they live a respectful life. Our associate Smt Chhayaben has seen Bapa in distress because he did not have a proper roof in his house. She requested us to construct a proper house for Bapa. After meeting him we felt that we should make his home without any delay. 

We requested our well wisher Shri Kishorebhai Patel from USA,  He, in memory of his son Kushal, immediately agreed to build a "Kush" home for Bapa. He also gave vessels for the house for which we are extremely thankful. It is because of kind hearted people like him that such work gets done.

During storms the roof would fly off and during monsoon the floor would get flooded.   He would be put into very serious difficulty. It was his wish that the roof & floor be repaired & there would be one light and a fan in the house. Having spent his entire life repairing footwear he had no money to fulfill his wish. VSSM became instrumental in fulfilling Bapa's wish & we are happy about it.

રાજકોટના જેતપુરનું દેવકીગાલોલ ગામ. ગામમાં પાંચાબાપા રહે. આમ બાપા જ્યાં રહે તે શેરીમાં બાપાનું ઘર બરાબર વચ્ચો વચ.. કાચી ઈંટોમાંથી ચણેલી નાનકડી ઓરડી. ઓરડીનું તળિયું નાખવા પૈસા નહીં તે તળિયું નાખેલું નહીં. ચોમાસામાં ઘરમાં પાણી ભરાય. બાપા કહે, ચોમાસામાં સતત પાણી ઉલેચતો રહું. ભીંતો કાચી એટલે બધે ભેજ. ને વીજળીના કડાકા થાય ત્યારે તો ઘર પડી જશે તો એવું થાય..

પાંચાબાપા ગામમાં મોચી કામ કરતા. બાપા સ્વમાની કોઈ સામે હાથ લાંબો કરવો ગમે નહીં.. એમના એક દિકરા. પણ એ વિકલાંગ. ખાસ કામ ન કરી શકે. બાપ દીકરો એકલા ઓરડીમાં રહે.

બાપાને આંખો ઓછુ ભળાય. છતાં રસોઈ એમના ભાગે.. એમની બાજુમાં રહેતા કટુંબીજનો પણ બાપાને બરાબર સાચવે. પણ દરેક પોતાનું ઘર લઈને બેઠુ છે એટલે એમને બોજો ન અપાય એવું બાપા કહે.

ઘરમાં સરખી ઘરવખરી પણ નહી. અમે બપોરે પહોંચ્યા. એમણે રોટલીઓ બનાવેલી. પણ રોટલી ભરવા ડબ્બો નહીં તે એક મીણિયાની થેલીમાં રોટલીઓ એમણે ભરેલી..

કામ તો બાપ દીકરાથી થાય નહીં. અમે એ સ્વમાનભેર ખાઈ શકે તે માટે દર મહિને રાશન આપીયે.

પણ બાપાના માથે સરખી છત નહીં. એમને હેરાન થતા જોઈ અમારા કાર્યકર  બાપાનું ઘર કરી દેવા અમને કહ્યું ને બાપાને મળ્યા પછી તત્કાલ ઘર કરી દેવાની લાગણી થઈ.

અમેરીકામાં રહેતા અમારા કિશોર અંકલ(કિશોરભાઈ પટેલ) ને કુશલભાઈની સ્મૃતિમાં આ કુશ હોમ બનાવવા વાત કરીને અંકલે તુરત એ માટે હા કહી. અંકલે તો જરૃર પડે ઘરવખરી પણ કરી દેવાનું કહ્યું. અંકલની આ લાગણી માટે ઘણી આભારી છું... તેમના જેવા સ્વજનોના સહયોગથી જ આ બધા કામો થાય...

પાંચાબાપાને વાવાઝોડામાં પતરા ઉડી જાયની બીક લાગે, ચોમાસામાં પાણી ભરાય ને એ દુઃખી થઈ જાય. એમની ઈચ્છા આ પીડા દૂર થાય ને ઘરમાં એકાદ પંખો, લાઈટની સુવિધા થાય તેવું ઘર કરવાની હતી. પણ આખી જીંદગી ચંપલ સાંધવામાં ગઈ. એમાં કાંઈ ઝાઝુ ભેગુ ન કરી શક્યા.

બાપા અમારા એટલે એમનું સરસ ઘર થાય એમાં VSSM નિમિત્ત બનશે...

"We put in a lot of effort to get our ration card. We could not get the ration card because some documents were always missing. We gave up. Those who had cards also had 10-12 names in the cards. Our boys would be staying separately after marriage, however it would not be possible to get a separate ration card for them."

This was the tragic story of Saraniya family living near Indira Bridge in Ahmedabad. Many years ago we had or baised a camp for them to get a Voter - id Card. Many got it. After that for a long time they were not in touch. We also focus more on villages so we also did not pay attention to this settlement staying in the city.

Certain seniors of this settlement came to our office. They had several preliminary questions. More than 700 families stay in this settlement. A road was being constructed which passes through the settlement. So many huts were going to be demolished. Seniors came with a hope that we will help them. 

When we did the survey we found out that many did not have ration cards. Many who had ration cards had not updated the same. Finally our associate Smt Madhuben & Suraj started filling up the forms. Both are very hard working & nice workers. 

The Government department in Ahmedabad corporation gave us a very strong co-operation. The officers came to the settlement and decided to give ration cards at the settlement itself. Shri Ravindrabhia Solanki and his team from the Government issued ration cards to many.

The work got done because of Respected Shri Rameshbhai Meena and Shri Jaswantbhai Jagoda of Supplies department in Gandhinagar. They were very sensitive to the issues of nomadic tribes.  Many thanks to all for helping in this mission.

 'રાશનકેડ નીહરે એ માટે કેટલી મેનત કરતા. પણ અમારી પાહે કાગળિયામાં કાંઈક તો ઘટે જ. એટલે કેડ નીહરે જ નહીં. અમે તો પસી પડતું મેલ્યું. જેમની પાહે કેડ હતા એમના કેડમાંય દસ, બાર જણાના નામ હોય. સોકરા તો લગન કરીન્ જુદા રે'તા હોય તોય ઈમના કેડ જુદા ના બને....'

અમદાવાદના ઈન્દિરાબ્રીજ પાસે રહેતા સરાણિયા પરિવારોની આ કથની.. વર્ષો પહેલાં આ બધાને મતદારકાર્ડ મળે તે માટે કેમ્પ કરેલો ને ઘણા બધાને એ વખતે મતદારકાર્ડ મળેલા. પછી ઘણો લાંબો સમય સંપર્કમાં નહીં રહેલા. અમે પણ વધારે ફોકસ ગામડાંઓમાં કરીએ એટલે  આ વસાહત તરફ ધ્યાન પણ ઝાઝુ ન અપાયું. 

ત્યાં પાછા આ વસાહતના આગેવાનો હમણાં ઓફીસ પર આવ્યા. એમના પ્રાથમિક પ્રશ્નો પણ ઘણા. 700 થી વધારે પરિવારો અહીંયા રહે.વળી હમણાં વસાહતની વચમાંથી રોડ જાય તે ઘણાના છાપરાં તુટવાના. 

આવામાં તમે મદદ કરોની ભાવના સાથે સૌ કાર્યાલય પર આવ્યા.

સર્વે કર્યો તો રેશનકાર્ડ ઘણા પાસે ન હોવાનું જોયું. સાથે રેશનકાર્ડ વિભાજન ન થયેલાનું પણ જાણ્યું. 

આખરે અમારા કાર્યકર મધુબહેન અને સૂરજ લાગ્યા બધાના ફોર્મ ભરવા. બેઉ મજાના અને ખુબ મહેનતુ કાર્યકરો. 

અમદાવાદ જિલ્લા પૂરવઠા વિભાગનો સહયોગ તો જબરજસ્ત. પૂરાવાના પ્રશ્નોને ઉકેલવા એમણે સ્થળ તપાસ કરીને સ્થળ પર જ રેશનકાર્ડ આપવાનું નક્કી કર્યું. અમદાવાદ પૂરવઠા કચેરીમાં કામ કરતા રવિન્દ્રભાઈ સોલંકી અને તેમની ટીમે વસાહતમાં આવીને કામ કર્યું ને ઘણા પરિવારોને રેશનકાર્ડ આપ્યા. 

ગાંધીનગર પૂરવઠા વિભાગ આદરણીય શ્રી રમેશ મીના, તેમજ જશવંતભાઈ જેગોડાની વંચિતો માટે લાગણી ખુબ રહી માટે આ કાર્ય થઈ શક્યું.

"I cannot beg. I do not like it."

Then how do you survive ?

"Neighbours out of kindness & sympathy come & give food."

What did you eat now ?

"I have some wheat flour, just enough for one meal, which I will cook in the evening."

From this conversation, I could sense the condition of the family. I did not ask any more questions because it would make them sad.

 This is the condition of Valuma  from the village Machiyala in Amreli District. She had two sons. One got married and had 3 children. His wife expired when the youngest daughter was only 2 years old. Valuma took care of all the 3 kids & brought them up. Then the son also expired in 2021. He was the earning member of the family The second son renounced the world & became a Sadhu. Sadhu took care of the family. There was sorrow in the family but it seemed that it would be possible to survive. Then the other son also expired. 

This was just too much for Valuma & she broke down. She was old and had developed a big tumour in the throat. When we asked her about this , she said there is pain but she does not have the money to go to the hospital. She was also concerned that in case the diagnosis is serious who will take care of the kids she was now single handedly taking care of.

When we asked her how we can help her, she replied that she doesn't like to ask for help. She added that whatever we felt at heart was right we can do.

Seeing us the neighbour said that the whole family of Valuma is in trouble because there is heavy leakage in the whole house. The neighbour requested that along with repairing the house if we can even build a toilet inside it would be a big relief to Valuma & family.

We decided to repair the house along with giving the food kit. 

Smt. Poonam Gohel from Maharashtra and Namrata Rathod from UK agreed to bear the entire cost of repairs.

For a food kit you all can also help.

When we left Valuma's house we saw in the surroundings several concrete houses.If all staying in these buildings would have wished, it would have been easily possible to help Valuma. 

Like our Malabhai & Parthibhai said, it is not in everyone's destiny to help the needy. We are thankful to our well-wishers for helping in this noble work.

We are also thankful to Kanubhai who was instrumental in taking us to Valuma. We were happy to see Valuma's neighbour helping in the best way she could.

Our associate Rameshbhai will now take care of Valuma. We will try to get funds from the government under the guardian scheme. We will also help in getting the "antyodaya" card.

'એક ટંક ચાલે એટલો લોટ સે તે હાંજેકના રાંધશું!'

આટલી વાતથી પરિવારની દશા સમજાઈ ગઈ. એમને વધુ પુછીશું તો દુઃખ પહોંચશે એમ માની આગળ પુછવાનું ટાળ્યું. 

અમરેલીના માચીયાળાના વલુમા. એમને બે દિકરા હતા. એમાંના એકને પરણાવ્યો. એને ત્રણ બાળકો થયા ને એમની ઘરવાળી ગુજરી ગઈ. એ વખતે સૌથી નાનો દિકરો તો બે જ વર્ષનો. વલુમાએ જ આ ત્રણેયને ઉછેર્યા. બીજો દિકરો ભગત થઈ ગ્યો. ત્રણ સંતાનોના પિતા 2021માં ગુજરી ગયા. ઘરમાં કમાનાર મુખ્ય વ્યક્તિ જતો રહ્યો. ભગતની જેમ રહેતા દીકરાએ ઘરની જવાબદારી સંભાળી.. દુઃખ હતું પણ જીવી જવાશે એમ લાગતું હતું. ત્યાં વલુમાનો ભગત દિકરો પણ ગુજરી ગયો.

વલુમા હવે ભાંગી પડ્યા. એમની ઉંમર ઘણી. ગળામાં મોટી ગાંઠ હતી. અમે પુછ્યું. 'બા શું થયું છે?'

જવાબમાં એમણે કહ્યું, 'એ પીડા થયા કરે પણ દવાખાને બતાવવાના પૈસા ક્યાં? અને બતાવી દઉં ને કાંક ભારે નીકળે તો પછી આ છોકરાંઓનું કોણ?'

અમે શું મદદ કરીએ એવું પુછ્યું તો કહે, 'મને માંગવું નથ ગમતું. તમને હૈયે બેહે ઈ કરો.'

અમને જોઈને પડોશમાં રહેતા એક બહેન અમારી પાસે આવ્યા ને એમણે કહ્યું, ચોમાસામાં આખો પરિવાર બહુ હેરાન થાય. ઘરમાં બધેથી પાણી પડે. જો ઘર રીપેર ને સાથે ટોયલેટ બાથરૃમ જેવું થઈ જાય તો એમને સાતા થઈ જાય.

રાશનની કીટ આપવાની સાથે ઘર રીપેરીંગનું કામ કરવાનું અમે નક્કી કર્યું.

રાશન માટે તમે સૌ પણ મદદ કરી શકો.. 

વલુમાને મળીને અમે નીકળી રહ્યા હતા ત્યારે જોયું તો વલુમા જ્યાં રહેતા તેમના ઝૂંપડાં આસપાસ ઘણા મજબૂત અને મોટા મકાનો બાંધેલા હતા. આ દરેક ઘરના વ્યક્તિએ ઈચ્છ્યું હોત તો વલુમાનું ઘર સરખુ કરવાનું આરામથી થઈ શક્યું હોત.

ખેર અમારા માલાભાઈ કે પરથીભાઈ કહે એમ, સદકાર્યોમાં નિમિત્ત બનવાનું સુખ બધાના નસીબમાં નથી હોતું... અલીમભાઈ એમાં નિમિત્ત બન્યા એ માટે આભાર.

વલુમા સુધી અમને કનુભાઈ લઈ ગયા. એમનો પણ આભાર. ને વલુમાના પડોશમાં રહેતા બહેન એમનાથી થતું કરે એ જોઈને રાજી થવાયું.

અમારા કાર્યકર રમેશભાઈ હવેથી વલુમાનું ધ્યાન રાખશે... બાળકોને પાલક માતા પિતા યોજના અંતર્ગત સહાય મળે તે માટે પણ કોશીશ કરીશું. સાથે અંત્યોદય રાશનકાર્ડ મળે તેમ પણ કરીશું.

Who would not like to hear these words?. I also liked it when 80 year old Nanduma said this to me. From the village of  Sapar in Amreli, a very content Nanduma has no desire to acquire anything more. Stays alone and spends most of her time in the service of the temple.

Our associate Shri Rameshbhai arranges to send her our food kit every month. Nanduma had a lot of affection for Rameshbhai & when he fell ill, Nanduma asked her neighbour to take her to Rameshbhai's home to check on his health.

It was Nanduma's wish to meet us all in Ahmedabad who worried about her and took care of her. Whenever Rameshbhai went to give her the food kit, she would enquire about me. It made me visit her and after meeting her got a fresh energy. She had no complaints with her life and her condition.  She believed that as long as she was fit, she could work and take care of herself, now that she has become old god has sent us to help her. Then why should she worry?

Like Nanduma, we cater to the needs of such 600 old people. You too can be a guardian to such deserving old parents. We get requests for help from so many such dependents. આ શબ્દો સાંભળીને મજા પડે ને? મને પણ એંસી વર્ષીય નંદુમાના શબ્દો સાંભળી મજા પડી.. અમરેલીના સાપરના નંદુમા એકદમ સંતોષી. વધારાનું મેળવી લેવાની કોઈ ઝંખના નહીં. એકલા રહે અને પોતાનો ઘણો ખરો સમય મંદિરમાં સેવા આપવામાં પસાર કરે.

અમારા કાર્યકર રમેશભાઈ એમને દર મહિને રાશન પહોંચાડે. તે રમેશભાઈ પર એમને ઘણું હેત. રમેશભાઈ બિમાર પડ્યાની ખબર પડે કે ખબર પુછવા લઈ જવાનું પડોશીને એ કહે..

નંદુમાની ભાવના અમદાવાદમાં બેસીને એમની ચિંતા કરનાર અમને સૌને મળવાની. જ્યારે પણ રમેશભાઈ રાશન આપવા જાય ત્યારે પુછે, બેન ક્યારે આવશે..એટલ જ એમને મળવા ખાસ ગયા ને એમને મળ્યા પછી એક ઊર્જા આવી ગઈ.

પોતાના જીવન સામે કોઈ ફરિયાદ નહીં. નોંધારી હતી પણ ભગવાને થતું ત્યાં સુધી કામ કરાવ્યું ને હાથપગ ભાંગ્યા ત્યારે તમને મોકલી આપ્યા.. પછી મારે શું ચિંતા એવું એ કહે.

ઈશ્વર પર એમને ગજબ શ્રદ્ધા... 

નંદુમા જેવા  600 માવતરોને અમે દર મહિને રાશન આપીયે. તમે પણ આવા માવતરોના પાલક બની શકો. નીત કેટલાય નિરાધાર વ્યક્તિઓના મદદ માટે ફોન આવે. બધે પહોંચવું આપ સોના સહયોગ વગર અશક્ય. પણ તમે સૌ સાથે આવશો તો આ બધુ કરવું મુશ્કેલ પણ નથી. મદદ માટે  90999-36013 પર 10 થી 6માં સંપર્ક કરવા વિનંતી.

Who does not aspire to have their own home ? We have been nomads for centuries. Our work required us to be nomads but now we want to settle down at one place".

This is the feeling of the nomadic tribe of Vadiya village in Amreli District. Some of them stay in tin roofed dwellings.

Many do not have Ration Cards. There is no guarantee that they will get food grains though some have ration cards. With the help of our associate Shri Rameshbhai many got "Antyoday" card. 

Most believed that it is not possible to get Ration Cards without bribing . We told them to be patient & keep faith. We could get Ration Cards for them which would entitle them to food grains. They also want a piece of land to build their home. We had a meeting with these families. Everyone wanted to have a home. We will sincerely try to get them one. Our earnest request to the authorities in Amreli to identify such homeless people and provide them with homes.

પોતાની જગ્યા મળેની હોંશ તો કોને ન હોય? અમે સદીઓ રઝડ્યા. અમારા વ્યવસાયો એવા હતા એટલે. પણ હવે ઠરીઠામ થવું છે.' 

અમરેલીના વડિયામાં વિચરતી વિમુક્ત જાતિના ઘણા પરિવારો છાપરાં બાંધીને રહે. તેમની આ લાગણી કે માંગણી. 

રેશનકાર્ડ પણ ઘણા પાસે નહીં. જેમની પાસે છે એમાંના ઘણા પાસે અનાજ મળે એવું નહીં.

અમારા કાર્યકર રમેશભાઈની મદદથી કેટલાક પરિવારોને અંત્યોદયકાર્ડ મળ્યા. 

આમ તો વસાહત ઘણી મોટી પણ તેમાં રહેનાર સૌને સરકારમાં વગર પૈસે કામ થાય તેવો ભરોષો નહીં. ્અમે ભરોષો કરવા કહ્યું ને જે થોડા પરિવારોએ કર્યો. એમના રેશનકાર્ડ બન્યા. 

હવે દરેક પરિવાર અનાજ મળે એવું રેશનકાર્ડ તેમજ પોતાની જમીન પણ ઈચ્છે. જેથી ત્યાં પાક્કુ ઘર બાંધી શકાય. 

અમે આ પરિવારો સાથે બેઠક કરી. 

સૌની માંગણી રહેવા પોતાની જગ્યા મળે તે માટે. અમે એ માટે કોશીશ કરીશું. અમરેલી વહીવટીતંત્ર અને સરકારને પણ આવા પરિવારોને સત્વરે શોધી તેમને ઘરવાળા કરવા વિનંતી..

Will you eat our food ?

Why not ?

Not all have food prepared by us.

There is no one to take care of Chakuma , a resident of Kolda village in Kukavav of Amreli District. Her house is in dilapidated condition. The whole roof leaks in monsoon. She goes to the neighbour's foyer to sleep. She being alone, we at VSSM provide her with a food kit every month. At least her food requirement is met and she doesn't have to worry about it. Being alone , she is mentally tired. When we went to meet her, she said with a heavy heart    "How can one go away leaving someone all alone ? What to cook for a single person ? I have no desire to eat. When he was there at least I had someone to talk to. Now with whom to talk. I am tired of life" Saying this Chakuma started to cry.

Whether alone or having someone to talk to, the discussion would be about the leakages in the house when the rain comes. 

"In this old age why should one have any attachment with the house? But in monsoon it creates a lot of inconvenience. If you can get it repaired it will be of great help to me" said Chakuma. I said we will definitely try. She asked whether I would like to have Soda. I said I don't like Soda & asked for water instead. Speaking of water, she asked whether we can have food at her home.

When I hear that one cannot have food at someone's place I feel  ashamed. It is so inhuman. Can understand not having food at a place which is not clean & hygienic but to decide on the basis of caste & creed is so wrong & unjustified. When will we come out of this mind set ?

'ના બાપલા બધા ન ખાય!'

અમરેલીના કુકાવાવના કોલડાગામના ચકુમાની સંભાળ રાખનાર કોઈ નહીં. ઘર પણ જર્જરીત. ચોમાસામાં આખા ઘરમાં દંદુડા પડે. તે પડોશીની ઓશરીમાં બા સુવા જાય.

ચકુમાના સાવ એકલા. રાશન અમે આપીયે તે એનાથી એમને ખાવા પીવામાં શાંતી. છતાં એકલવાયું જીવન મનથી એ થાકી ગયા. અમે મળવા ગયા ત્યારે ભારે હૈયા એમણે કહ્યું,

'આમ એકલા મુકીને કોઈ જતું હશે? એકલા હાટુ હું રાંધવાનું? ખાવા પીવાનું કશુંયે મન નો થાય. એ હતા તો વાતનો વીસામો હતો. હવે કોની પાહે વાતો કરવાની.. થાકી ગઈ છું.'

ચકુમા આટલું કહેતાકહેતા રડી પડ્યા. 

જો કે નોંધારા ને એકલા રહેનાર દરેકના મનની આજ સ્થિતિ. ભારેખમ વાતાવરણ બદલાય એટલે અમે ઘરમાં પાણી ક્યાં પડે વગેરે વાતો કરી.

એ કહે, 'આમ ઘૈડેઘડપણ હવે આ ઘરની માયા શું?  પણ ચોમાસામાં હેરાન થવાય. તમે થોડું હરખુ કરી આલો તો જરા ઠીક કરે.

ચોક્કસ પ્રયત્ન કરીશુંનું કહ્યું, ત્યાં એમણે કહ્યું, ટસોડા મંગાવું.' અમે કહ્યું, 'સોડા નથી ભાવતા, પણ તમે સોડાનું નામ કહ્યું એટલે પાણી આપી દો'

પાણીનું સાંભળી એમણે તમે અમારા ઘરનું ખાવોનું પુછ્યું.

આમનું ખવાય ન ખવાય આવું જ્યારે સાંભળું ત્યારે શરમ આવે.. હજુ પણ આ અમાનવીય પ્રથા? 

ગંદકી હોય ત્યાંનું કશું ખાવું પીવું ન ગમે પણ એકદમ ચોખ્ખાઈવાળા પરિવારજનોના ત્યાં ખાલી નાત, જાતના વાડાને લઈને ખાવાનું કે પાણી પીવાનું ન કરવું...અરુચીકર લાગે... ક્યારે આ બધામાંથી બહાર નીકળીશું?

ખેર ચકુમાનું ઘર પણ સરખુ કરી આપીશું... આપ સૌ સ્વજનો પણ અમારા આવા કાર્યોમાં સહભાગી થઈ શકો એ માટે 90999-36013 પર 10 થી 6માં સંપર્ક કરી શકો.

VSSM provided ration kits to the affected families

Food, shelter and housing are the three fundamental needs of human life. Yet it is difficult to have these three together for some impoverished families. And when they face nature’s fury, the challenge to survive multiplies.  Life seems like a never-ending nightmare. 

 Covid’s second wave has snatched away livelihoods and for many, it has taken away the chief earning member of the family. As if this was not enough cyclone Taukatae ravaged the lives of many families of Saurashtra. 

 Come rain or shine, the human body will need food when it is time. With all food damaged it was either water or nothing to be fed especially for the kids in the family. Begging was the only option these families had been left with.

 Comprehending the need for time VSSM decided to supply ration kits to the affected families. So far we have been able to provide ration kits to 1500 families and we continue to reach more families. All of this has been possible because of the support we have received from our well-wishing friends who always choose to support us.

રોટી, કપડાં, મકાન માણસની પ્રાથમિક જરૃરિયાત.. પણ એક સાંધતા તેર તૂટે એવો તકાજો જેના ઘરે હોય એને આ ત્રણેય એક સાથે મેળવવું મુશ્કેલ. એમાં ક્યારેક કુદરત રુઢે ત્યારે તો જીવવું બહુ કપરુ લાગે.

કોરોનાની બીજી લહેરે કેટલાયની રોજી છીનવી તો કેટલાય પરિવારે ઘરની ધુરા સંભાળના મુખ્ય વ્યક્તિ ગુમાવ્યો. આવામાં ઓછુ હતું તે તૌકતે વાવાઝોડુ આવ્યું ને સૌરાષ્ટ્રમાં કેટલાય પરિવારનું બધુ તહેસનેહસ કરી નાખ્યું..

ગમે એવી આફત આવે પણ પેટ તો સમય થાય એટલે ભાડુ માંગે જ. પણ ઘરમાં કશું હોય નહીં ને બાળકોનેય પાણી પીને સુવડાવવા પડે અથવા વાટકો લઈને માંગવા મોકલવા પડે એ લાચારી..

સ્થિતિ સમજીને અમે રાશનકીટ આપવાનું શરૃ કર્યું. 1500થી વધુ પરિવારોને આજ સુધી રાશન પહોંચાડી શક્યા અને આ યજ્ઞ અવિરત ચાલુ છે..આ સઘળું VSSM સાથે સંકળાયેલા સ્નેહીજનોની મદદ વગર ક્યાં સંભવ હતું. 

પૂ. મોરારીબાપુ, શ્રી મહર્ષીભાઈ અને ઋતુ દવેએ સ્પર્શ થકી તો શ્રી મિલનભાઈ શાહે કુદરતી ઉપચાર ટ્રસ્ટ થકી એ સિવાય શ્રી અમીતભાઈ શાહ, શ્રી જયંતભાઈ અમીન, શ્રી બળવંતભાઈ મેતલિયા, માધવી મહેતાએે ઝાલાવાડ ચેમ્બર ઓફ કોમર્સ એન્ડ ઈન્ડસ્ટીઝ થકી તો કવિતાબેને રાજકોટની સેન્ટ મેરી સ્કૂલ થકી ટૂંકમાં ઘણા પ્રિયજનોએ મદદ કરી એટલે આ સંભવ થઈ શક્યું. આપ સૌ પ્રત્યે કૃતજ્ઞતા ભાવ વ્યક્ત કરુ છું.

આમ તો આદર્શ સ્થિતિ આવી મદદ આપણે કોઈને કરવી ન પડે એજ હોય ને એવી સ્થિતિ નિર્માણ કરવા માટે ભગવાનને પ્રાર્થના..
