VSSM salutes the compassion and empathy demonstrated by the District Collectors of Mehsana and Surendranagar…

Recently, VSSM was in a meeting with the District Collectors of Mehsana and Surendranagar to discuss the long ending issues of the nomadic communities resounding in these districts. The proceedings at the meeting remained very positive as both these officials demonstrated tremendous concern over the apathy of the local officials and were quick to give instructions to the concerned departments to resolved the issues. 

“This work has to be done, period!!” was one line instruction by the Collector of Mehsana Shri. Alok Kumar to all his subordinate officials who until now have been finding excuses to not attend to the applications filed by the nomadic families. He also instructed the local authorities to include these families in the next Garib Kalyan Mela and ensure that these families benefit  from the government schemes during this Mela. As a result of the orders given by the Collector the local authorities have all geared up and are working towards redressing the pending issues!!

In a similar manner the Collector of Surendranagar Shri. Udit Aggrawal also discussed at length the pending issues and applications of nomadic communities and instructed his officials to resolve the issues as soon as possible.

The issues are same, we file applications, the local authorities do not pay heed to the applications, the files keep piling on, the families are asked to make innumerable rounds of various offices for an otherwise irrelevant document that is termed mandatory to process such applications!!  It is difficult to comprehend what fun these officials get in tormenting the poor families in such a manner!! While for the individuals working for these families it remains a depressing  scenario.

“Ben, it is tiring to witness such apathy and to keep running around government offices for accomplishing simple tasks!! How long will these communities have to endure such mindsets? We haven’t asked for bungalows for these families, it is just a small piece of land to shelter their families is what they are asking for and yet so much of delay and disgust!!   lamented Naran. And his concern isn’t irrelevant at all. Most of the applications filed by nomadic families need to be followed up right from local to district to state level. We keep writing to the concerned authorities all the time and yet the files keep piling on. It is only  the hope that some day things would change for better that keeps us going!!!

The proactive attitude reflected by the Collectors of Mehsana and Surendranagar have spread  hope in otherwise depressing conditions. We are not sure how much will be accomplished but the fruitful meetings have made the team believe that the local authorities will have to work to the orders of the respective district Collectors.

મહેસાણા અને સુરેન્દ્રનગર કલેક્ટરની નિસ્બતને સલામ..

વિચરતી જાતિઓના પડતર પ્રશ્નો સંદર્ભે તાજેતરમાં મહેસાણા અને સુરેન્દ્રનગર કલેકટર સાથે બેઠક યોજાઈ. બંને અધિકારી ખૂબ હકારાત્મક અને તેમણે ખૂબ ત્વરાથી આ સમુદાયના પ્રશ્નો ઉકેલાય તે માટે જરૃરી કાર્યવાહી કરવાની સૂચના સંલગ્ન અધિકારીને આપી. 

શ્રી આલોક કુમાર મહેસાણા કલેક્ટર વિચરતી જાતિઓના કામોને કેમ કરીને ના કરવા તે માટે જાત જાતના બહાના કરતા નીચેના અધિકારીઓને એક જ લીટીમાં આ કામ કરવાનું છે અને શક્ય હોય તો તમામ પરિવારોને આગામી ગરીબ કલ્યાણ મેળામાં તેમને મદદ મળે તેમ કરવાની સૂચના આપી. મહેસાણા જીલ્લાના  તમામ અધિકારી અત્યારે પ્રાથમિકતા આપીને વિચરતી જાતિના પ્રશ્નોને ઉકેલવા મથી રહ્યા છે.

આવા જ શ્રી ઉદીત અગ્રવાલ તા.17 સપ્ટેમ્બરના રોજ આયોજીત જિલ્લાના તમામ અધિકારીઓ સાથેની બેઠકમાં વિચરતી જાતિઓના પ્રશ્નોની ચર્ચા કરી. પ્રશ્નો સાંભળ્યા અને આ કરવા જેવું કામ છે તેમ કહીને સૌ અધિકારીને ઝડપથી પ્રશ્નોનો ઉકેલ લાવવા સૂચના પણ આપી. 

vssmના કાર્યકરો આમ તો રોજ સરકારમાં વિચરતીજાતિઓને સરકારી મદદ મળે તે માટે ઝઝૂમતા હોય છે. આવામાં સરકારમાં ફક્ત ફાઈલો ચાલ્યા કરતી હોય અને કોઈ ઉકેલ ના આવે ત્યારે નિરાશ થઈ જાય છે. આજે બનાસકાંઠાના vssmના કાર્યકર નારણે કહ્યું, ‘બેન થાકી જવાય છે. ક્યાં સુધી લોકો આમ રવળ્યા કરશે? તેમના પ્રશ્નોનું સમાધાન ક્યારે થશે? આપણા લોકો કાંઈ બંગલા તો માંગી નથી રહ્યા તો શા માટે માથુ ઘાલવા એક ઓરડી આપવામાં આટલો વિલંબ થઈ રહ્યો છે’ નારણની વાત સાચી છે. જિલ્લાથી લઈને ગાંધીનગર સુધી સંલગ્ન અધિકારીને અમે નીત લખીએ છીએ. ક્યાંક કામ થાય છે તો ક્યાંક કામોનો ઢગલો થઈ રહ્યો છે. પણ એક આશા છે એક દિવસ તો બધુ સરખુ થશે.

આવી નિરાશામાં મહેસાણા અને સુરેન્દ્રનગર કલેકટરનું હકારાત્મક વલણ અમને આશા જન્માવે છે. કામ કેટલું થશે તેનો તો ખ્યાલ નથી પણ હાલમાં કલેક્ટરની વાતથી અમારા કાર્યકરો રાજી થયા છે અને કામ થશે તેવું અમને સૌને લાગી રહ્યું છે. 

બંને કલેક્ટર સાથે શ્રી રમેશ મેરજા અધિક કલેક્ટરમહેસાણા હંમેશાં મદદરૃપ થયા છે તેમની સાથે જિલ્લાના તમામ અધિકારીઓના અમે આભારી છીએ.. જેઓએ અત્યાર સુધી આ સમુદાયના કામોમાં મદદ કરી છે અને આગળ હજુ ઘણી મદદ કરશે તેવી અમને શ્રદ્ધા છે.

It was just another day and these men were discussing the route they would be take for day, the areas they would move around to sell the bedsheets, blankets etc., just on that very  moment  the police from Dindoli arrived and arrested them; Vikram, Amlabhai and Jadavbhai were taken in by the police. Asking the officials why and where was out of question.. the police asked them to quietly get into the jeep, a quick contemplation amidst the three whether to get into the vehicle or not was enough to invite a couple of lathi strikes. The three of them were left with no choice but to get into the jeep…

Some Salat families of Vijapur migrated to regions around Surat’s Dindoli,  erecting a temporary makeshift settlement near the village. They stay in the settlement and wander in the surrounding regions to sell bedsheets etc. The community had notified themselves at the nearest police station on reaching and settling in Dindoli. ( This is what most wandering nomadic families do to protect themselves from unwarranted police wrath during their stay in the village they stay put.)

The members of the settlement informed VSSM’s Tohid on the incident.  But Tohid also was unsure on how to proceed because Shri. Mall, the empathetic and supportive police officer whom we reached out to in such police harassment cases had been transferred and we weren’t aware of the approach the  officer replacing him!!! We asked the Salat community members in Dindoli to get the copy of FIR, but they could manage to get it. We were getting on to write a complaint when we received the call informing that the men had been released after payment of Rs. 150 per person. Why and under what head the money was taken, no one knows as there was no receipt issued.

When we spoke to Amlabhai he told us that there was a theft in area near the settlement, since these families wandered around they were seen as potential suspects!! “We thought since you wander for living you could be someone who might have committed the crime!!” said the police.

So how does one make these men in khaki understand that not who people who wander do it for living and not to indulge in criminal activities. And how come officials who are corrupt come preaching individuals who conduct themselves with integrity!!

As Amlabhai narrates “indulging in robbery is strictly prohibited in out community, we are shunned from the community if we indulge in any criminal acts!!” The Salat never allow any debt on themselves so indulging in robbery is strictly out of question!! Alas, who’s going to understand all such ethical code of conducts that govern hundreds of our indigenous communities and tribes…


સલાટને રખડી ખાવ છો એમ કહેનારને કોણ કહે કે તારું મોઢું ગંધાય છે.

આજે ચાદરો, ચોરસા વગેરે સામાન કઈ બાજુ વેચવા જશું એનો વિચાર કરતાં હતા ત્યાં તો ડીંડોલી પોલીસ આવી અને વિક્રમ, અમલાભાઈ અને જાદવભાઈને પકડીને લઇ ગઈ.

સાહેબ કેમ લઇ જાવ છો એવું તો પુછાયે શેનું? ચુપચાપ જીપમાં બેસી જવાનો હુકમ પોલીસે આપ્યો અને હજુ બેસવું કે નહિ એની ગડમથલ ચાલતી હતી ત્યાં બે ડંડા પડ્યા એટલે કશું જ બોલ્યા વગર જીપમાં બેસી ગયા. 

વિજાપુરના સલાટ કામ ધંધા અર્થે સુરતના ડીંડોલી આસપાસના વિસ્તારમાં પડાવ નાખીને રહે અને આસપાસના વિસ્તારમાં ફરીને ચાદરો વેચે. આમ તો આવ્યાં ત્યારે પોલીસ સ્ટેશનમાં નામ નોંધાવી આવ્યાં હતા છતાં આવું કેમ થયું? (આજે પણ વિચરતી જાતિના લોકો ક્યાંય પણ કામ ધંધા અર્થે જાય તો સૌ પ્રથમ નજીકના પોલીસ સ્ટેશનમાં પોતાની તમામ વિગતો લખાવી આવે જેથી પોલીસ હેરાન ના કરે છતાં પણ આવી ઘટના બને જ છે)

સુરતથી vssmના કાર્યકર તોહીદ પર આ બીના બન્યાની વસાહતના અન્યોએ જાણ કરી. પોલીસ સાથેની વિચરતી જાતિઓની માથાકુટમાં સદાય સહાય ભૂત થતાં શ્રી વિનોદ મલ્લ સાહેબની બદલી થઇ ગયેલી એમની જગ્યા પર કોણ છે અને એમની સંવેદના મલ્લ સાહેબ જેવી છે? કે કેમ એનો ખ્યાલ નહિ. અમે FIRમી નકલ માંગવા અન્ય સલાટ જે ત્યાં હાજર હતા એમને કહ્યું, પણ એ ના મળી. છેવટે અરજી લખવાનું કર્યું ત્યાં પાછો ફોન આવ્યો, એક એક વ્યક્તિ દીઠ ૧૫૦ રૂ લઈને છોડી દીધા છે. આ રકમની કોઈ પહોંચ આપી નથી. આ પૈસા ક્યાં હેડમાં લીધા એ રામ જાણે..

અમલાભાઈએ વધારે પૂછ્યું ત્યારે ખ્યાલ આવ્યો કે, એમના પડાવની આસપાસના વિસ્તારમાં ચોરી થયેલી એટલે પકડીને લઇ ગયા. ‘તમે રખડી ખાવ છો તે તમે ક્યાંક આ બધામાં ના હોવ’એમ પોલીસે કહ્યું. મહેનત કરનારા સલાટને રખડી ખાવ છો એમ કહેનારને કોણ કહે કે તારું મોઢું ગંધાય છે.

‘ચોરી તો અમારા સમાજમાં કરાય જ નહિ અને કોઈ કરી લેતો એ નાત બારો થઇ જાય’ આવી ખુમારીવાળી પ્રજા માથે આવું આળ મુકતા શરમ પણ નથી આવતી.. આતો એ પ્રજા છે જે જીંદગીમાં ક્યારેય કોઈનું લેણુંએ માથે ના રાખે ત્યાં ચોરી?? પણ પ્રશ્ન આ બધું ક્યાં સુધી ચાલ્યા કરશે એ છે?

જેમને પકડીને પોલીસ લઇ ગઈ હતી એ ત્રણે ભાઈઓ ફોટોમાં જોઈ શકાય છે..

The tone and attitude of Mamlatdar Dantani was quite offending. It seemed as if the VSSM team member Tohid was in his office to beg for plots for the nomadic families and Mamlatdar Datani behaved as some land owner, refusing to do what was requested from him or rather do his job.
“We haven’t taken some contract to give plots to nomadic families in the region, don’t turn up everyday with new applications in hand. These people have settled here for many years now and we do not give plots to settled families, “ said Mamlatdar Dantani

“But, Sir although they are  staying  in Visnagar, they do not stay at one place. These families are required to changes places whenever they are shooed from one place, sometimes living near garbage dumps!!! Where do they have a permanent  place??  We had filled applications for these 12 Bajaniyaa families in the Collector’s office and they have asked me to bring it to you and  submit it here. I have also attached the letter by Collector in this regard where he has mentioned that  the applications be submitted to you.” replied Tohid.

“I do not understand all these and I am not going to accept any such applications.”  replied Shri Dantani,   rather rudely...

By now Tohid was getting really angry, but he remained calm and once again  tried explaining his point to Mamlatdar. “ Sir, these families cannot be called  settled families as the government is yet to allot them plots, these families move within Visnagar with  their bags and baggages. If the government has no reservation in allotting them the plots  why are you creating unnecessary obstacles!! Tohid was accompanied by Natubhai Bajaniyaa, one of the family members who had applied for the plot. He too tried explaining the matter but the Mamlatdar was in no mood to pay heed.

The Mamlatdar’s attitude saddened Natubhai who made the last attempt, “ Sir, you too belong to nomadic community, if you cannot understand our condition, who will!” said Natubhai.

Sadly though the Mamlatdar was no prepared to listen, it seemed as if the government was to  become landless if it began giving plots to such families. The families and VSSM team members are tired of such babudom by local authorities. When the VSSM team members aren’t heard imagine the plight of poor and ignorant nomads when they approach such officials on their own!!!

‘આખા વિસનગરમાં રહેતી વિચરતી જાતિને પ્લોટ આપવાનો અમે ઠેકો નથી રાખ્યો.આવી દરખાસ્તો લઈને રોજ રોજ નહીં આવવાનું. આ લોકો તો વર્ષોથી વિસનગરમાં સ્થાયી રહે છે તો એ સ્થાયી થઈ ગયા એમને પ્લોટ ના મળે.’

‘પણ સાહેબ વિસનગરમાં ભલે વર્ષોથી રહે પણ જ્યાં જગ્યા મળે ત્યાં છાપરાં ફેરવતા રહે છે. કાયમી જગ્યા એમની પાસે ક્યાં છે? ક્યારેક રોડની બાજુમાં તો ક્યારેક તળાવના કિનારે તો ક્યારેક ગંદકીની બાજુમાં રહેતા 12 બજાણિયા પરિવારોને કાયમી રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ મળે એ માટેની રજૂઆત અમે કલેક્ટર કચેરીએ કરી અને એમને આ દરખાસ્ત આપના મારફત જમા કરાવવા કહ્યું. આ સાથે કલેકટરે આ મુદ્દા પર લખેલો પત્ર છે જેમાં આપને દરખાસ્ત આપવા કહ્યું છે.’

‘આ બધુ હુ કાંઈ ના જાણુ. પણ આવી કોઈ દરખાસ્ત હુ લેવાનો નથી.’

મામલતદાર આર.કે.દંતાણીની વાત સાંભળી vssmના કાર્યકર તોહીદને બરાબર ગુસ્સો આવ્યો છતાં ફરીથી સમજાવવા કોશીશ કરી ‘સાહેબ જે વ્યક્તિને સરકારે પ્લોટ આપી દીધા હોય તે સ્થાયી કહેવાય પણ પ્લોટ મળ્યા જ નથી અને લબાચા લઈને ફરે છે તે અસ્થાયી જ છે અને સરકારને પ્લોટ ફા

ળવવામાં વાંધો નથી તો તમે કેમ રામાયણ કરો છો..’ તોહીદ સાથે બજાણિયા નટુભાઈ કે જેઓ કેટલાય વર્ષથી પ્લોટની માંગણી કરી રહ્યા હતા તેમણે પણ મામલતદારને સમજાવવાની કોશીશ કરી. પણ તેઓ કશું સાંભળવા જ તૈયાર નહોતા.

નટુભાઈ ખુબ હતાશ થઈ ગયા તેમણે છેલ્લુ કહ્યું, ‘સાહેબ તમે પણ વિચરતી જાતિના જ છો તમે અમારી સ્થિતિને નહીં સમજો તો કોણ સમજશે?’

પણ સાહેબને ક્યાં કશું સાંભળવું હતું. એમને તો બસ સરકારની જમીન આવા લોકો આવીને માંગી માંગીને લઈ જશે તો બિચારી સરકાર નાદાર થઈ જશે તેવું લાગી રહ્યું હતું. 

બાબુશાહીથી કાર્યકરો અને વિચરતી જાતિના આ પરિવારો થાકી જાય છે.સંસ્થાના કાર્યકરો તો બધા નિતીનિયમો જાણે છે છતાં તેમને હડધૂત કરવામાં આવે છે આવામાં વિચરતી જાતિના માણસો એકલા રજૂઆત માટે જાય તો કોણ જવાબ આપે? 

આ પરિવારો જે પરિસ્થિતિમાં રહે છે તે જોઈ શકાય છે.

 for 18 Nomadic families

We have written at length about some difficult pre-requisites that are essential to be produced if one wants to obtain a caste-certificate. The nomadic communities do not understand the difference between caste and surname. Whenever it is required to mention caste these families end up writing their surnames like Vaghela, Chauhan, Bhaati, Mori etc.  The tricky requirements by the government accompanied by the ignorance of nomadic communities  creates challenges when these families have to get a caste certificate. 

We have had made frequent  requests to the government for organising block level camps to ease the process of obtaining the caste certificates. This requests are yet to be heard but we are helping the communities obtain the certificates as and when required. The task becomes breeze in offices that have empathetic officials otherwise you know how it is with getting these things done !!!!

જાતિ પ્રમાણપત્રો મેળવવાની સરકારી આંટીઘૂંટી ઘણી વિચિત્ર છે. આ સમુદાયોની સમજ પણ મર્યાદીત છે. બાળકને શાળામાં ભણવા બેસાડે કે, પહેલીવાર મતદારકાર્ડ કઢાવે ટૂંકમાં સરકારી ચોપડે જ્યાં પણ પહેલીવાર નામ ચડાવવાનું થાય ત્યાં પોતાની જાતિ લખાવવાની જગ્યાએ મોટાભાગે પોતાની અટકો એટલે કે, ચૌહાણ, વાઘેલા, પરમાર, ભાટી, મોરી વગેરે લખાવે જેના કારણે તેઓની મુળ જાતિનું પ્રમાણપત્ર મેળવવાનું થાય ત્યારે ખુબ તકલીફ પડે.
જાતિપ્રમાણપત્ર માટે વિચરતી અને વિમુક્ત જાતિઓ માટે તાલુકા દીઠ કેમ્પ કરીને તેમને પ્રમાણપત્ર આપવાનું કરવામાં આવે તો આ સમુદાયોને ઘણી રાહત થઈ જાય. ખેર રજુઆતો કરી છે પણ કંઈ નક્કર પરિણામ આવ્યું નથી. હાલ પુરતુ જેમ જેમ જરુર પડતી જાય છે તેમ તેમ લોકોને સમાજ કલ્યાણ કચેરીમાં લઈ જઈને પ્રમાણપત્રો અપાવવાનું કરીએ છીએ. ક્યાંક અધિકારી સારા છે તો ખુબ જ સરળતાથી કામ પતે છે તો ક્યાંક ધક્કા પણ ખુબ થાય છે.

Tacking the demons that lie within …..

The city of Rajkot has huge concentration of Marwari Devipujak (Bavari) community. The families stay in ghettos with as many as 12-15 members staying in a 10 X10 feet shanty. Elder parents, sons and daughter-in-laws, daughters and son-in-laws and children all stay in these wall less houses that have sarees or bedsheets to form make-shift partitions to guard privacy. It was important that these families receive plots to build however small yet  seperate houses. Since past 2 years VSSM’s Kanubhai has been working hard to ensure these nomadic families receive residential plots. The conditions under which they currently survive are absolutely inhospitable and inhumane. Consequent to the appeals made by Kanubhai the district Collector asked him to submit applications for these families.

To our utter surprise, the moment we initiated the task of filing applications the thus far dormant community leaders suddenly became active, asking the community members for money to be given to the officials to get the task done!! They went to the extent of demanding money to begin the process of filling up the form!! The entire episode was quite a revelation as it was totally opposite to the way VSSM functioned. Kanubhai had to convince everyone there was no money to be given to anyone and even called in the local authorities to give an explanation of how the applications will be handled.

It has taken Kanubhai one and a half years to make the families understand that no money has to change hands for filing and sanctioning the applications. On grasping what Kanubhai was trying to convey the Marwari Devipujak families shunned away their own community leaders who until now had formed the toxic habit of indulging in corruption. After the resolving of all the issues Kanubhai could manage to file applications for 126 families. 

The emergence of such situations requires the VSSM team members to fight the demons and corrupt mindsets  (individuals with vested interests) that lie within the nomadic communities. Work done without money or their inclusion somewhere indicates the loosening of their hold on their own ignorant community members and  that is what the community leaders do not want to happen. When we come across such situations  it makes us realise how distant our destination is for the journey we have embarked upon…..The fact that VSSM has a strong, determined and  dedicated team to tackle any untoward situation gives a great solace and assurance that ‘we shall overcome…'

રાજકોટમાં મારવાડી દેવીપૂજક(બાવરી) સમાજની વસતિ ઘણી વધારે છે. દસ બાય દસના ઝૂંપડામાં એક સાથે 12 થી 15 વ્યક્તિઓનો પરિવાર રહે. જેમાં મા-બાપ, દીકરા-વહુ, દીકરી જમાઈ બાળકો બધા જ આવી જાય. આમ તો એક છાપરાંમાં આટલા બધા લોકો? ચાલે તોય ભટકાય એવી હાલત હોય. રાતના તો ચાદરોની આડાશો કરીને પ્રાઈવસી કરનારા આ પરિવારોને રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ મળે તે અત્યંત જરૃરી હતું. vssmના કાર્યકર કનુભાઈ આ પરિવારો સાથે છેલ્લા બે વર્ષથી કાર્યરત છે. તદન અમાનવીય સ્થિતિમાં રહેતા આ પરિવારોને રહેણાંક અર્થે જગ્યા મળે તે માટે સંસ્થાના માધ્યથી તેમણે અરજી કરી અને કલેકટર શ્રીએ આ પરિવારોની દરખાસ્ત જમા કરાવવા ક્હયું.

દરખાસ્તનું કામ આરંભ્યું કે, અત્યાર સુધી સુસુત્પ અવસ્થામાં રહેલા આ સમુદાયના આગેવાનો કાર્યરત થયા અને પૈસાનો જુગાડ શરૃ થયો. અધિકારીને આટલા પૈસા આપવા પડશે તમે આપો તો જ દરખાસ્ત કરીશું નહીં તો નહીં. vssmની કાર્ય પદ્ધતિથી તદન વિપરીત સ્થિતિ અમારી સામે આવી પડી. કનુભાઈએ સૌને સમજાવ્યા અને એક પણ રૃપિયા વગર કામ થશે તેવી બાંયેધરી આપી. જરૃર પડે અધિકારી સાથે વાત કરાવી. પણ વહીવટીતંત્રની જેમ સામાજિક સ્તરે ઘુસી ગયેલા ભ્રષ્ટાચારને આમ સરળતાથી નાથી શકાય તેવો ક્યાં હતો. દોઢ વર્ષની મહેનત પછી સૌ સમજ્યા અને પૈસાના જોરે વહીવટ કરનારાને મારવાડી સમાજે જ પોતાનાથી દુર કર્યા. તે પછી કનુભાઈએ 126 પરિવારોની દરખાસ્ત મામલતદાર કચેરીમાં જમા કરાવી.

ભ્રષ્ટાચારનો ભોરીંગ જાતિગત માળખામાં એવો ઘુસી ગયો છે કે એના સામે પણ એક અલગ પ્રકારે બાથ ભીડવાનું સંસ્થાના કાર્યકરોએ કરવાનું થાય છે. પોતાના સ્વાર્થ ખાતર સમાજની જુની ઘરેડને જ પકડીને આગળ વધારે રાખવાનું નાતના આગેવાનો કરે રાખ્યે છે અને એ પણ ખાલી 500 કે 1000 રપિયા માટે થઈને. ખેર આ બધુ જોઉ છુ ત્યારે લાગે છે કે, vssmએ હજુ ઘણી લાંબી મજલ કાપવાની છે. બહારના પરિબળોની સાથે સાથે આંતરીક પરિબળો સામે પણ લડવાનું છે. તેને બદલાવવાના છે.. આ બધુ થશે તેવી અમને આશા છે vssmની ટીમ એવી મજબૂત છે એટલે બધુ પાર પડશે...

Since past many years,  15 Vansfoda families have settled  in Tadav village of Vav block in Banaskantha district. The traditional occupation of these families was basketry but, the scarcity of bamboo  and increasing prices of raw material have made them give up the occupation of their forefathers and earn living from selling plastic house ware. Infact, the Tadav settlement is a place they come back to after wandering in the neighbouring villages for a few weeks to sell their plastic ware. VSSM has enabled these families obtain their ration cards, voter ID cards but the resistance by the villagers to allow these families settle in Tadav has delayed the process of applying for residential plots.

ટડાવમાં રહેતાં વાંસફોડા પરિવારોની રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ મેળવવા માટેની અરજી તૈયાર કરી.

બનાસકાંઠાના વાવ તાલુકાના ટડાવ ગામમાં ૧૫ વાંસફોડા પરિવારો વર્ષોથી રહે છે. આ પરિવારોનો પરંપરાગત વ્યવસાય સુડલા અને ટોપલા બનાવવાનો પણ છેલ્લા કેટલાક વખતથી એમણે પ્લાસ્ટીકના તબકડા વેચવાનું શરુ કર્યું છે. કેટલાક સમય માટે સ્થળાંતર કરે બાકીનો સમય ટડાવમાં જ રહે. vssmના ધ્યાને આ પરિવારો આવતાં આપણે એમનાં મતદારકાર્ડ, રેશનકાર્ડ કરાવ્યાં. પણ રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટની ફાળવણી હજુ સુધી થઇ નથી. મૂળ ગામમાં આ પરિવારોને કોઈ ઇચ્છતું નથી એટલે આ કામ થયું નથી.

A couple of months back VSSM’s Mohanbhai had filed applications for U-WIN cards on the behalf of the nomadic families of Sankheswar and Santalpur blocks of Patan district. As a result of his efforts 85 and 25 nomadic families from the mentioned blocks have been allotted the U-WIN cards

પાટણ જીલ્લાના શંખેશ્વર અને સાંતલપુરતાલુકામાં રહેતાં વિચરતી જાતિના પરિવારોને U win કાર્ડ મળે એ માટે vssmના કાર્યકર મોહનભાઈએ અરજી કરી હતી. જેના અનુસંધાને આ બન્ને તાલુકામાં વસતા અનુક્રમે ૮૫ અને ૨૫ પરિવારોને શ્રમયોગી કાર્ડ મળી ગયા જે ફોટોમાં જોઈ શકાય છે. હવે આ પરિવારોને કાર્ડનું વિતરણ કરવામાં આવશે.

A caste certificate becomes an important document if one needs to take benefit of any of the government welfare schemes. However,  fulfilling the pre-requisites of applying for a caste certificate is a uphill task for the nomadic communities. For example - it is mandatory for the applicant to attach a school leaving certificate  of his father along with the application for the caste certificate. 

The children of the nomads today are the first generation school goers for 99 percent of these families, so attaching father’s (previous generation) school leaving certificate is next to impossible!!

We have spoken to the Chief Minister, to Shri. Ramanbhai Vora, Cabinet Minister, Social Justice and Empowerment about relaxing the norms or the consider issuing the certificates after visiting the place these families reside. But, these are policy matters and any amend in it will require time and efforts.

In the mean time, we have requested the sensitive and compassionate officials from  the regions VSSM works to issue caste certificates to the applicant families on the basis of the documents these families  have. It required great effort on part of the VSSM team to convince the officials of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar districts, the officials have understood the issue and are willing to support. 

We have prepared applications for caste certificates of  32 nomadic  families residing in Ahmedabad and 22 families of Kamod. The applications have been submitted to the Social Welfare Department. If these applications get us the caste certificates we intend to speed up the process of filing other applications.

સરકારની કોઈ પણ યોજનાની મદદ મેળવવા જાતિ પ્રમાણપત્ર જરૂરી છે. પણ જાતિ પ્રમાણપત્ર મેળવવા માટેના સરકારે જે નિયમો બનાવ્યા છે એ નિયમો વિચરતી જાતિના લોકો માટે મુશ્કેલ છે. દા.ત. પ્રમાણપત્ર માટેની અરજી સાથે જે વ્યક્તિને પ્રમાણપત્ર જોઈએ છે એ વ્યક્તિએ એના પિતાનું શાળા છોડ્યાનું પ્રમાણપત્ર અરજી સાથે જોડવું ફરજીયાત છે. 

હવે જેમની પહેલી પેઢી શાળામાં જઈ રહી છે એ લોકો શાળા છોડ્યાનું પ્રમાણપત્ર ક્યાંથી લાવે? આ મુદ્દે મુખ્યમંત્રીથી લઈને સામાજિક ન્યાય અને અધિકારીતા સંભાળતા મંત્રી શ્રી રમણભાઈ વોરાને પણ લખ્યું છે. નિયમો હળવા કરે અથવા એક મુદ્દાનો કાર્યક્રમ કરીને આ સમુદાયના લોકો જ્યાં રહે છે ત્યાં જઈને એમને જાતી પ્રમાણપત્ર આપવાનું કરે. ખેર આ મુદ્દો નીતિ વિષયક છે અને એમાં બદલાવ માટે અમારે કોશિશ કર્યા કરવાની છે.

આ દરમ્યાન જે વિસ્તારમાં vssm કામ કરે છે અને અધિકારી vssmના કામને જાણે છે એમને જાત તપાસ કરીને જે પણ ડોક્યુમેન્ટ છે એના આધારે જાતિ પ્રમાણપત્ર આપવા અમે વિનંતી કરી છે.

અમદાવાદ અને ગાંધીનગરમાં અરજી સાથે vssmના કાર્યકરે ખુબ ધક્કા ખાધા. પણ આખરે એ બધા ધક્કા પછી અધિકારી આખી વાતને સમજ્યા અને પ્રમાણમાં કામ થોડું સરળ થયું.. 

અમદાવાદ શહેરમાં રહેતાં ૩૨ અને કમોડ ગામમાં ૨૨ વિચરતી અને વિમુક્ત જાતિના લોકોને જાતિ પ્રમાણપત્ર મળે એ માટેની અરજીઓ સમાજ કલ્યાણ કચેરીમાં જમા કરાવી. આગામી દિવસોમાં આ કામ ખુબ ગતિથી થશે એમ લાગી રહ્યું છે.

A small settlement consisting of 19 families belonging to the nomadic communitiy of Bharthari-Nathbawa is situated almost 2 kms away from the village of Dabhla in Mehsana’s Vijapur block. While some of these families possessed the ration cards and  voter ID cards other did not have any document of identity proof. VSSM helped the adult members of these families  obtain the voter ID cards. The 7 families who did not have ration cards were also helped in procuring them, their applications were alloted APL ration cards.  

Inspite of the distance from the village, this settling in its periphery is fiercely opposed by the panchyat. The settlement has no infrastructure facilities like power and water, a thorny fence around the settlement  to protect it  from the intrusion of  wild nocturnal animals was also opposed by the Panchayat members. They were threatened to remove it. VSSM has been making efforts to ensure these families get  residential plots for building their own houses. But the attitude of the Panchayat and the villagers is hindering the efforts. As always it is difficult to comprehend such attitude of the villagers!!!

And as alway we shall keep faith in the Panchayat, villagers, authorities and government, we are sure the mindsets will change and they will embrace these Nathbawa families. VSSM’s Tohid  has already began the process of applying for the caste certificates for these families because once they receive the plots these certificates will be required to avail the Government’s aid for building houses. 

નાથબાવા પરિવારોને મળ્યા રેશનકાર્ડ 

મહેસાણાના વિજાપુરતાલુકાના ડાભલાગામમાં ભરથરી – નાથબાવા સમુદાયના ૧૯ પરિવારો ગામથી ૨ કી.મી દુર રહે. અહિયાં રહેતાં કેટલાક પરિવારો પાસે મતદારકાર્ડ અને રેશનકાર્ડ હતા જયારે કેટલાક પાસે નહોતા. vssmની મદદથી તમામ પુખ્તવયના લોકોના મતદારકાર્ડ નીકળી ગયા. જયારે ૭ પરિવારો પાસે રેશનકાર્ડ નહોતા એમને રેશનકાર્ડ મળે એ માટે અરજી કરી અને એમને પણ APL રેશનકાર્ડ ફાળવાયા.

આ પરિવારોના કાયમી વસવાટ સામે આખા ગામનો વિરોધ. વીજળી અને પાણીની પણ સુવિધા નહિ. વસાહતની ફરતે એમણે કંટાળી વાડ પોતાનાં વસવાટના રક્ષણ માટે કરવાનું શરુ કર્યું કે, પંચાયતે આવીને વાડ નહિ કરવાની એક અર્થમાં ધમકી આપી. આ પરિવારોને કાયમી રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ મળે એ માટે vssm કોશીશ કરે છે. કામ મુશ્કેલ છે કેમ કે, કોઈ સહયોગ કરતુ નથી અને આ પરિવારોને ગામમાં કોઈ ઇચ્છતું પણ નથી. એક રીતે ગામથી ઘણો દુર વસવાટ છે છતાં આવો વિરોધ? સમજાતું નથી.

ખેર અમે ગામના લોકો, પંચાયત અને સરકાર સૌમાં શ્રદ્ધા ધરાવીએ છીએ. એટલે જ એમની રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટની અરજી અને એ માટે મેળવવાના થતાં જાતી પ્રમાણપત્રની અરજી તૈયાર કરવાનું vssmના કાર્યકર અને આ બધાના પ્રિય એવા તોહીદે કર્યું. બસ આ પરિવારોને પ્લોટ અને પોતાનું સરસ ઘર ઝડપથી મળે એવી આશા...

The Meer families in Banskantha’s Lakhani earn their living by selling lace and borders, sheep rearing selling their wool and sometimes manual labour. Their work  requires them to wander through the neighbouring areas of Lakhani. The Meer as a community leads a nomadic lifestyle but they are not listed in the official list of the nomadic communities, hence they are forbidden from receiving any welfare benefits that other nomadic and de-notified communities are entitled to.

The Lakhani Panchayat and villagers are all in favour of allotting residential plots to these families but because their community is not on the list of nomadic communities they cannot obtain plots like the nomads do!! Also the names of these families weren’t on the BPL list. VSSM has began the efforts to include the names of these families in the village BPL list along with it we have also applied for their ration cards.

Since past many years VSSM has been advocating for inclusion of the Meer community in the official list of nomadic communities. Looking at the way things are progressing it is going to take a while before that happens….

બનાસકાંઠાના લાખણીમાં મીર પરિવારો રહે. લેસ પટ્ટી વેચવાનો અને ઘેટાં, બકરાં ઉછેરવાનો આ પરીવારો વ્યવસાય કરે અને એ માટે લાખણી અને એની આસપાસના વિસ્તારમાં વિચરણ કર્યા કરે. ઘેટાં, બકરાંના ઊન ઉતારી વેચવાનું અને છૂટક મજૂરી મળે તો એ પણ કરે.

આ પરિવારોને લાખણીમાં રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ આપવા આખું ગામ રાજી પણ મીર પરિવારોના નામ ગામની BPL યાદીમાં ના હોવાનાં કારણે એમણે ગામતળમાં પ્લોટ મળવા શક્ય નથી અને વિચરતી જાતિ જેવું જ વિચરણવાળું જીવન હોવા છતાં એમને વિચરતી જાતિની યાદીમાં સમાવવામાં આવ્યાં નથી આથી વિચરતી જાતિના લોકોને રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ ફાળવવાનો જે ઠરાવ છે એ ઠરાવ પ્રમાણે પણ એમને પ્લોટ મળી શકતા નથી.

ખેર મીરનો સમાવેશ વિચરતી જાતિમાં થાય એ માટે vssm પ્રયત્નશીલ છે. પણ સરકારી કામની ગતિ એટલી ધીમી છે કે આ બધું ક્યારે થશે એ પ્રશ્ન છે.

vssm હાલમાં આ પરિવારોને રેશનકાર્ડ મળે એ માટે કોશિશ કરે છે. સાથે સાથે BPL યાદીમાં આ પરિવારોના નામ આવે એની પણ કોશિશ કરે છે.

The distinct style of dressing-up and conduct sets them apart, we see them and can make out they are nomads..but if these communities have to secure any government benefits or their entitlements they are handed an exhaustive list of documents to be presented. .As the nomads term it “they (authorities) need papers and letters (documents)  to hand them entitlements…All these documents aren’t obtained easily and for the nomads its an absolutely impossible task. ..To obtains citizenry document they need another endless list of documents and proofs. .. say for example the caste certificate, now to acquire a caste certificate one document that the nomads find most difficult to submit is the school living certificate of the applicant’s father!! The certainly would be some reason behind such a requirement but in case of the nomads there are 19 nomadic communities whose first generation is now receiving education, so how does one procure a father’s school leaving certificate when he himself hasn’t walked inside the school gates!!

Of course the course of procedures and requirements become considerate towards the special needs of the nomads wherever we have had sensitive and compassionate officials else it continues to be nerve wrecking . In the nomadic settlements that have been  built the Government officials have gone out of their way to be helpful to the processes. VSSM has initiated the process of filling up applications forms for obtaining caste certificates for the nomadic families. We have pledged it there is a need, we will  make  thousands of applications to the government  and influence a policy level change in the requirement of documents for those families whose earlier generations have never been to school and cannot obtain their fathers’ school living certificate.

આમ તો વિચરતી જાતીના કિસ્સામાં તેમના પહેરવેશ અને તેમનાં રહેણાંકની વ્યવસ્થા જોતા જ તેઓ વિચરતી જાતિના છે તેનો ખ્યાલ આવે પણ સરકારી મદદ મેળવવા આ બધી વિગતોના વિચરતી જાતિની ભાષામાં કહીએ તો કાગળ – પતર જોઈએ. વળી આ કાગળ પતર મળવા એમના માટે એટલા સહેલા નથી. દા.ત.જાતિ પ્રમાણપત્ર મેળવવા સરકારના ઠરાવ પ્રમાણે જે વ્યક્તિને પ્રમાણપત્ર જોઈએ તેને તેના પિતાનું શાળા છોડ્યાનું પ્રમાણપત્ર અરજી સાથે જોડવું પડે. સરકારે આ નિયમ વિચારીને જ બનાવ્યો હશે. પણ વિચરતી વિમુક્ત જાતિના કિસ્સામાં લગભગ ૧૯ જાતિઓ એવી છે જેની પહેલી પેઢી આજે ભણી રહી છે. આ કિસ્સામાં પિતાનું શાળા છોડ્યાનું પ્રમાણપત્ર મળવું સંભવ નથી. આમ તેમને જાતી પ્રમાણપત્ર મળવું મુશ્કેલ બની જાય છે. 

જો કે સરકાર દ્વારા જ્યાં વિચરતી જાતિની વસાહતો બની છે ત્યાં આ નિયમથી ઉપરવટ જઈને પણ મદદ મળી છે. પણ આ બધું સંવેદનશીલ અધિકારી હોય ત્યાં સંભવ બને પણ જ્યાં અધિકારી સરકારી ચોપડામાં વાંચીને જ કામ કરતો હોય ત્યાં આ પરિવારોના કામ થવા મુશ્કેલ બની જાય છે. vssm દ્વારા આ સમુદાયના લોકોને જાતિ પ્રમાણપત્ર મળે તે માટેના અરજીપત્રક ભરવાનું શરુ કર્યું છે. જ્યાં પુરાવા મળશે ત્યાં પ્રશ્ન નથી પણ જેમની પહેલી પેઢી શાળામાં જાય છે તેમના પિતાના શાળા છોડ્યાના પ્રમાણપત્ર મેળવ્યા વગર તેમને જાતિ પ્રમાણપત્ર મળે તે કરવાનો નિર્ધાર અમે કર્યો છે. સરકારને વિચરતી – વિમુક્ત જાતિઓની પરિસ્થિતિને અનુરૂપ પોલીસી બદલાવ આવે તે માટે હજારો અરજીઓ કરવાનો પણ સંકલ્પ છે.

આશા છે અમે સફળ થઈશું. vssmની મજબુત ટીમના કારણે અમે આ કરી શકીશું શક્ય હશે તો વિચરતી – વિમુક્ત જાતિને પ્રમાણપત્ર આપવાના નિયમો હળવા પણ થશે તેવી આશા છે.

Since last one year the VSSM team had been striving to obtain ration cards for 13 Saraniya and Devipujak families of Chotila. The authorities, citing some or the other reasons kept finding faults and delaying the matter. The issue was presented before the Chief Minister of Gujarat, on whose instructions the authorities  immediately issued the APL rations cards to these families.

VSSM’s Harshad worked tirelessly on the issue, allotment of the ration cards not only cheered the families but brought immense joy and relief to Harshad as well.

સુરેન્દ્રનગરના ચોટીલામાં રહેતાં ૧૩ સરાણીયા અને દેવીપૂજક પરિવારોને રેશનકાર્ડ મળે એ માટે ૧ વર્ષથી અરજી કરી હતી પણ એકયા બીજા કારણોસર રેશનકાર્ડ આપવામાં સ્થાનિક કચેરી દ્વારા આનાકાની થઇ રહી હતી. મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી સમક્ષ આ બાબતે રજૂઆત કરવામાં આવતા તેમનાં તરફથી સુચના આપવામાં આવતાં તત્કાલ આ પરિવારોને APL રેશનકાર્ડ ફળવાયા.

There is high concentration of nomadic families in the areas around Morbi. These families live in shanties and makeshift houses. VSSM has helped these families acquire Voter ID cards and Ration cards. Recently VSSM’s Rameshbhai organised a camp to process the applications for Aadhar UID numbers where in applications for 66 families were processed.

vssm દ્વારા મોરબીમાં રહેતાં વિચરતા પરિવારો માટે આધારકાર્ડની કામગીરી આરંભાઈ

મોરબી આસપાસ વિચરતી જાતિના ઘણા પરિવારો અસ્થાઈ ઝુંપડા બાંધીને રહે છે. આ પરિવારોને vssmની મદદથી મતદારકાર્ડ કેટલાકને રેશનકાર્ડ વગેરે મળ્યા છે પરંતુ, આધારકાર્ડ આ પરિવારો પાસે નહોતા. vssmના આ વિસ્તારમાં કામ કરતાં કાર્યકર રમેશ દ્વારા આ પરિવારોને આધારકાર્ડ મળે એ માટે કેમ્પનું આયોજન કરવામાં આવ્યું. જેમાં ૬૬ વ્યક્તિના કાર્ડની કામગીરી થઇ શકી.

The VSSM run  Bajaniya Boys hostel in Radhanpur recently organised a camp to file applications for U Win Cards  for the nomadic Bajaniyaa an Vansfoda families from  7 villages of Radhanpur and Santalpur blocks. The U Win Cards are for the labourers from unorganised sectors. During the camp applications for 200 U Win cards were filed.VSSM’s  Mohanbhai Bajaniyaa and the youth from the community played an important role in making this camp a success but one person whose contributed significantly during the camp is Somabhai Bajaniyaa a teacher from Bandhwad village and a leading volunteer. Somabhai also helps the children from the Bajaniya hostel with the challenges they face in their studies. He spends 2 houus every day with these students solving the difficulties they have. He also helps with the hostel management and ensures smooth functioning of the hostel. It is efforts of such youth that the we managed to file 200 applications.


During the camp 10 Vansfoda families living in Kukreja village of Harij block who did not have Voter ID cards had also come to seek help. Applications for their Voter ID cards were also filed.

પાટણના રાધનપુરમાં vssm સંચાલિત બજાણિયા કુમાર છાત્રાલયમાં vssm દ્વારા રાધનપુર અને સાંતલપુર તાલુકાના ૭ ગામોમાં રહેતાં વિચરતી જાતીમાંના બજાણીયા અને વાંસફોડા સમુદાયના વ્યક્તિઓને શ્રમ યોગી કાર્ડ – U win card મળે અએ માટેની અરજી કરવાં સંદર્ભે કેમ્પનું આયોજન કર્યું. જેમાં ૨૦૦ વ્યક્તિઓએ U win card માટે અરજી કરી.

કેમ્પમાં અરજી કરવામાં vssmના કાર્યકર મોહનભાઈને બજાણીયા સમુદાયના યુવાનો અને એમાં પણ બંધવડ ગામમાં શિક્ષક તરીકે ફરજ બજાવતાં સોમાભાઈ બજાણીયાએ વિશેષ મદદ કરી. સોમભાઈ હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણતાં બાળકોને રોજ સાંજે બે કલાક ભણાવે અને એ સિવાય પણ હોસ્ટેલ મનેજમેન્ટમાં સદાય મોખરે રહી મદદ કરે. આવા યુવાનો વિચરતા સમુદાય માટે આશાનું કિરણ છે અને યુવાનોના કારણે જ ૨૦૦ વ્યક્તિની અરજી કરવામાં vssmને સફળતા મળી.

કેમ્પમાં હારીજ તાલુકાના કુરેજા ગામમાં રહેતાં મતદારકાર્ડ વિહોણા ૧૦ વાંસફોડા વ્યક્તિ પણ આવ્યાં. આ વ્યક્તિઓને મતદાર કાર્ડ મળે એ માટેની અરજી પણ કેમ્પમાં કરવામાં આવી.

6 Oad families stay with in the boundaries of Duchakwala village of Banaskantha’s Diyodar block.Although their shanties are within the village boundaries, they are very far from the proper village. When Naranbhai of VSSM came into contact of these families they had no identity proofs of citizenry documents. VSSM has helped these families gradually  acquire their Identity proofs. There is a possibility that these families may receive residential plots in couple of months. We have also applied for get the names of these families into the village BPL list. The Oad are skilled with mud excavation works, these days they also work as labourers at brick kilns. Recently Naran also facilitated the process of acquiring the Vatsalya Cards for these families. In case of medical emergency, these cards entitle the family members receive  free medication unto 2 lakh rupees.

'Applying for the documents and completing the formalities is something the nomads can do by themselves, so why does VSSM help them with the process of getting documents??' is the question we get asked many a times. To which our response would be ‘if VSSM does not help no government official or village leader/panchayat member or a villager is going to come forward and help the nomads attain their entitlements.  The hurtful and bitter experiences of the past will keep these communities away from the government offices. Also applying for  the documents is such an uphill task with so much of corruption involved that it is impossible for ignorant and illiterate nomads to navigate through the bureaucratic system.  Someone has to help them, assure them that they have equal rights to this country and their work will be done.  By helping them, VSSM is giving them the assurance they are looking for….


vssmની મદદથી ઓડ પરિવારોને મળ્યાં વાત્સલ્યકાર્ડ...

બનાસકાંઠાના દિયોદર તાલુકાના ડુચકવાડાગામમાં ૬ ઓડ પરિવારો રહે. આ પરિવારો ગામથી ઘણા દુર રહે. ઓડનો પરંપરાગત વ્યવસાય માટીકામ અને ઇંટો પાડવામાં મજૂરીનો. vssmના કાર્યકર નારણ આ પરિવારોના સંપર્કમાં આવ્યાં ત્યારે એમની પાસે મતદારકાર્ડ, રેશનકાર્ડ વગેરે કોઈ પુરવા નહિ પણ ધીમે ધીમે vssmના પ્રયત્નના કારણે આ પરિવારોને મતદારકાર્ડ, અંત્યોદય રેશનકાર્ડ મળ્યાં. રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ મળે એની દરખાસ્ત કરી છે. કદાચ બે એક મહિનામાં એમણે પ્લોટ મળે એવી સંભાવના છે. BPL યાદીમાં આ પરીવારોનો સમાવેશ થાય એ માટે પણ અરજી કરી દીધી છે.

આ દરમ્યાન પરિવારમાં આકસ્મિક સંજોગોમાં કોઈ બીમાર પડે તો ૨ લાખ સુધીની દવા વિનામૂલ્યે થાય એ માટે એમના વાત્સલ્ય કાર્ડ કઢાવવાનું પણ નારણ દ્વારા થયું.

વિચરતી જાતિઓને સરકારી પુરાવ કઢાવવામાં vssm શું કામ મદદ કરે છે? આવો પ્રશ્ન સમાજ અને અધિકારી પૂછે છે ત્યારે એક જ જવાબ અમે આપીએ છીએ કે, ‘vssm મદદ નહિ કરે તો અધિકારી કે ગામના લોકો સામેથી તો આ પરિવારો પાસે જવાના નથી? અને આ પરિવારો પણ સરકાર સાથેના અગાઉના કડવા અનુભવોના કારણે કચેરીનું પગથીયુંએ ચડવાના નથી. આમ કોઈકે એમની સાથે રહીને એમને મદદ કરવાની છે. એમના કામો પણ થશે એવો ભરોષો આપવાનો છે અને સૌથી વિશેષ આ દેશ એમનો પણ છે બસ આ ભરોષો અપાવવા vssm ટીમ પ્રયત્નશીલ છે..

18 Meer and Gadaliya nomadic families staying in Banaskantha’s Diyodar recently acquired their U Win cards. These cards are issued to labourers from unorganised sectors. VSSM had been making focused efforts in this direction from  quite some time. They had made sure all the forms were duly filled and queries answered appropriately..

The presence and involvement of VSSM has helped thousands of families acquire the citizenry documents they are entitled to, the relatives of such families staying in regions and states where VSSM does not have presence are asking VSSM to come to their support. Its an overwhelming need and as an organisation we have our limitations . We cannot be present everywhere. But VSSM is constantly trying  to influence the policy makers, government officials and authorities to be empathetic and  sensitive towards the special needs of nomadic communities and ease such processes for them.

vssm હોવાના કારણે આ પરિવારો માટે સરકારી દસ્તાવેજો મેળવવાનું પ્રમાણમાં ઘણું સરળ થઇ રહ્યું છે જેનો આ પરિવારો અને vssm ને આનંદ છે તો સાથે સાથે આ પરિવારોના સગાં-વહાલાં કે જેઓ ગુજરાતના બીજા વિસ્તારોમાં રહે છે અને એમની પાસે બહુ બધા આધારો નથી ત્યાં પણ vssm કામ કરે એવી ઇચ્છા આ પરિવારો રાખી રહ્યા છે. vssm તરીકે અમને આ પરિવારો સાથે બધે જ ઉભાં રહેવું ગમે પણ અમારી મર્યાદાના કારણે આ થતું નથી જેનો અફસોસ છે. સાથે સાથે vssm વગર પણ આ પરિવારોના કામો સારી રીતે થાય, અધિકારી જ એમને સામેથી મદદ કરે એવું થાય એવી ઈચ્છા રાખીએ છીએ.
