The branches of a tree, with its thousand hands, worship God and call upon Him. When God recognizes its qualities of selflessness, He blesses it in the form of rain clouds. Through the tree, wonderful acts are performed, such as providing shelter to countless lives and bearing fruits to satisfy many hunger.

Who wouldn’t want to establish such trees that are worthy of being called true saints? Let’s make sure they are welcomed in every village, and the villages enthusiastically join this effort.

Kuwata, a delightful village in Banaskantha, invited us to plant trees in their cemetery. We asked the villagers to promise to care for the trees we plant, and they committed, with water in their hands and in the presence of Mahadev, to nurture as many trees as would be planted.

This year, with the blessings of the rain god, we planted 4,366 trees in the Kuwata cemetery, with the help of Fine Jewelry. Honorable Prembhai and his entire family are tree lovers. Last year, they helped plant 7,000 trees in Raviayana village, and those trees are also thriving beautifully.

If each industry group helps establish small gramvans like this, the earth can become green again.

We decided to hold a tree worship program in Kuwata, and the entire Fine Jewelry team came from Mumbai to participate in this event. The warm welcome from the villagers made the whole team happy and showed them who supports all these initiatives.

We are grateful to Fine Jewelry for their help in planting and nurturing trees. The proverb "drop by drop, the lake fills; pebble by pebble, the dam is built" is being realized by VSSM. Currently, 1.25 million trees are thriving in 225 gramvans, and the credit for this goes to Fine Jewelry and other supporters.

The opportunity to repay Mother Earth’s debt comes through water and environmental work.

વૃક્ષની ડાળીઓ એના હજાર હાથથી ઈશ્વરની આરાધના કરે, એને બોલાવે. એના પરોપકારના ગુણને ઈશ્વર સમજે એટલે જ એના પર મેઘરૃપી મહેર કરે. હજારો જીવોને આશરો આપવાનું, અનેકોની ભૂખ ભાંગવા ફળ આપવાનું વગેરે જેવા ઉત્તમ કાર્ય વૃક્ષ થકી થાય...

સાચા સંતનું બિરુદ જેને આપી શકાય એવા આપણા વૃક્ષોનું સ્થાપન કરવું કોને ન ગમે? અમે દરેક ગામમાં એની પધરામણી થાય એવું કરીએ. ગામ પણ ઉત્સાહથી આ કાર્યમાં જોડાય. 

બનાસકાંઠાનું કુવાતા મજાનું ગામ. ગામે અમને સ્મશાન ભૂમિમાં વૃક્ષો વાવી ઉછેરવા આમંત્રણ આપ્યું. અમે ગ્રામજનોને વાવેલા વૃક્ષો બરાબર ઉછેરવાનું વચન આપવા કહેલું ને એમણે હાથમાં જળ લઈને સ્મશાનમાં મહાદેવની સાક્ષીએ જેટલા વૃક્ષો વવાશે એનું બરાબર જતન કરીશુંનું વચન આપેલું.

આ વર્ષે મેધરાજાએ મહેર કરીને અમે કુવાતાના સ્મશાનમાં 4366 વૃક્ષો વાવ્યા. આ કાર્યમાં મદદ કરી ફાઈન જ્વેલરીએ. આદરણીય પ્રેમભાઈ અને તેમનો આખો પરિવાર વૃક્ષ પ્રેમી. એમણે ગત વર્ષે પણ રવિયાણા ગામમાં  7000 વૃક્ષો વાવી ઉછેરવામાં મદદ કરી. એ ગ્રામવનના વૃક્ષો પણ સરસ ઉછરી રહ્યા છે.

એક એક ઉદ્યોગ જુથ આ પ્રમાણે નાના નાના ગ્રામવનો ઊભા કરવામાં મદદ કરે તો ધરતી પાછી હરિયાળી થઈ જાય.

કુવાતામાં વૃક્ષપૂજન કાર્યક્રમ કરવાનું નક્કી કર્યું ને ફાઈન જવેલરીની આખી ટીમ મુંબઈથી ખાસ આ કાર્યક્રમમાં ભાગ લેવા આવી. ગામલોકોએ જે આવકારો આપ્યો એનાથી આખી ટીમ રાજી ને ગામને પણ આ બધા કાર્યોમાં કોણ મદદ કરે તેનો ખ્યાલ આવ્યો.

ફાઈન જવેલરીએ વૃક્ષો વાવી ઉછેરવામાં મદદ કરી એ માટે એમના આભારી છીએ.. પેલું ટીપે ટીપે સરોવર ભરાય, કાંકરે કાંકરે પાળ બંધાય એ કહેવતનો અનુભવ VSSM ને થઈ રહ્યો છે. હાલ 12.50 લાખ વૃક્ષો 225 ગ્રામવનોમાં ઉછરી રહ્યા છે... ને એ બધાનો શ્રેય ફાઈન જ્વેલરી જેવા અન્ય સ્વજનોને જાય છે..

ધરતીમાનું ઋણ ચુકવવાનો અવસર પાણી અને પર્યાવરણ ના કામો થકી મળે.

ચાલો સાથે મળીને હજુ વધારે સઘન કાર્યો કરીએ...

Today, several tree plantation projects will be launched at multiple places.  Thousands of young & delicate saplings will be sowed to mark the World Environment Day. A great act but what follows is tragedy.  A vast majority of them will in couple of days be deprived of life-giving water.  Young saplings will yearn desperately for water but there is none who would quench their thirst. Like a small human baby, it will cry, it will get sad & it will get tired eagerly waiting for someone to give water. But people who sowed have moved on and there is none to take care of this young sapling. They are abandoned. Without water, without oxygen it will wither and die. A case of infant mortality. Isn’t this as serious as infanticide?

Our soil is dry and bereft of water. The sowed sapling does not get any nutrition from the soil for it to grow on its own. It needs a life-line of water to survive. Imagine a mother giving up on the new born baby. Imagine a mother telling her new born that her job of giving birth is done and from now on you will have to take care of yourself. What will a child do?  It cannot even move on its own, how will it take care of its life to survive without mother’s support? Same with baby saplings.

That is why I have repeatedly said that to sow a plant is easy. To take care & nurture it is difficult. It is better not to sow if you are not in a position to take care of the sapling.  Sow only if you have the time & inclination to take care.  Just for the sake of symbolic photo opportunity, just for the sake of showing the world that you celebrated 5th June, don’t sow. 

This year at VSSM we will plant over 3.5 lakhs trees in our villages. This is not the right time to sow. We will do it after the rains makes its presence. We will also depute a friend of the tree, a caretaker, to take care of the newly planted saplings. 

The shade of our trees will provide comfort to the tired. I can with immense joy show you my pictures with the lovely, sturdy trees that have grown from young & delicate saplings. Even you can do it & show your picture with pride. Please take care of the plantation in a manner that we can inspire our next generation to grow more trees & make this earth a more beautiful place to live. 

THE TREES THAT HAVE GROWN & PROVIDE SHADE IN THE CREMATORIUM, WE ARE ONLY A MEDIUM & WE ARE IMMENSELY HAPPY ABOUT IT. 

#વિશ્વ_પર્યાવરણ_દિવસની ઘણી ઘણી શુભેચ્છા...

આજે ઢગલો કાર્યક્રમ થશે ને કેટલા બાલતરૃની વાવણી થશે. 

જેમાંના મોટાભાગના બાલતરુ બે દિવસ પછી પાણી માટે ટળવળશે, એ જોરથી રડશે, થાકશે ને ઉદાસ થઈ કોઈ પાણી આપશેની વાટે જોશે.. 

પણ વાવણી કરનાર મોટાભાગના એના તરફ ફરકશે નહીં. આખરે ઓક્સિજન વગર, પાણી વગર માણસ કેવો ટળવળે એમ ટળવળશે ને પછી મૃત્યુ પામશે.

શું આ પાપ ભ્રુણહત્યા જેટલું જ મોટું નથી?

આપણી જમીનમાં એવો ભેજ નથી કે વાવેલું બચ્ચુ જાતે એ ભેજ વાટે મોટુ થઈ જાય?

બાળકને જન્મ આપ્યા પછી મા બાળકને એવું કહી દે કે, આજથી તારી પીપી ને પોર્ટી જાતે જોઈ લેવાની, ખાઈ પણ જાતે લેવાનું? તો એ બચ્ચુ શું કરશે? એ તો બાપડુ પડખુયે માની મદદ વગર ન ફેરવી શકે એ ક્યાંથી આ કરવાનું..

બાલતરુનુ પણ આજ..

એટલે જ વારંવાર કહુ, વાવવું સહેલું પણ ઉછેરવું મુશ્કેલ પણ એજ અગત્યનું..

એટલે વાવતા પહેલાં ભ્રુણને યાદ કરજો... ને ઉછેરવાના હોવ તો જ વાવજો.. બાકી ફોટો પાડવા કે પાંચમી જૂને કાંઈક કર્યું એ બતાવવા બાલતરુ ન વાવતા.

અમે આ વર્ષે અમારા ગ્રામવનમાં 3.5 લાખ વૃક્ષો વાવીશું પણ આજે વાવણીનો સમય નથી.. બરાબર વરસાદ થશે પછી વાવીશું ને વાવ્યા પછી એને ઉછેરવા માણસ રાખીશું. જેથી કાળજી થાય..

અમે વાવેલા વૃક્ષના છાંયે... 

પેલા ગીતની જેમ થોડોક તો વિસામો મને લેવા દે હરી.. 

ને હા મે વાવેલા હું બધા ફોટો સાથે આજે કેવડા થયા એ બતાવી શકુ. તમે પણ એ રીતે બતાવી શકો એ રીતે ઉછેરજો... તો જ આપણે આપણી આવનારી પેઢીને એ બતાવી શકીશું ને એને પણ વૃક્ષ વાવી ઉછેરવા પ્રોત્સાહીત કરી શકીશું. 

વખાના સ્મશાનમાં અમે વાવેલા વૃક્ષોની છાયામાં... બસ અમે તો માધ્યમ.. ને એનો ઘણો રાજીપો..

The VSSM-Forest Department partnership has been instrumental in planting 6000 trees in Vaghrol village....

VSSM believes that a healthy partnership and participation results in any program's effective implementation and impact. As a result of this belief, we decided to partner with the Forest Department to carry out our ongoing tree plantation drive in Banaskantha. We have pledged to make Banaskantha green again. Over the last three years, we have planted thousands of trees across Banaskantha and ensured they are well nurtured and raised. From the smallest woodland of around 1000 trees to the largest one of 12000 trees,  have been created around the landscape of Banaskantha.

However, raising a tree is like raising a child. It requires patience, hard work, expenses…and blessings of a nature deity. Although these are the efforts that humans and nature would love, we also face challenges from these forces. Nevertheless, VSSM’s Naranbhai Raval, Maheshbhai Chaudhry, Hareshbhai Raval, and others continue to tackle them.

Last year the Forest Department of Banaskantha offered us to join the social forestry efforts underway in the district. VSSM provided drip irrigation facilities and appointed a Vriksh Mitr wherever required. The VSSM-Forest Department partnership has been instrumental in planting more than 60,000 trees this year.

Vaghrol village of  Banaskantha has benefited from this partnership. Jewelex Foundation contributed to the same, and we are grateful to the respected Shri Piyushbhai Kothari of Jewelex Foundation for his unflinching support to VSSM.

And gratitude to the Forest Department as well for partnering with us. The 6000 trees being raised in Vaghrol are the outcome of this productive partnership. We hope to have such a fruitful partnership next year, and this time with Banaskantha in Patan and Sabarkantha too.

તંદુરસ્ત ભાગીદારી સારા પરિણામનું નિર્માણ કરે એવું અમે માનીયે એટલે બનાસકાંઠા જંગલ વિભાગ સાથે વૃક્ષો ઉછેરવા ભાગીદારી કરવાનું નક્કી કર્યું. 

બનાસકાંઠાને હરિયાળો કરવાનું અમે નક્કી કર્યું છે. એટલે જ દર વર્ષે હજારોની સંખ્યામાં પાછલા ત્રણ વર્ષથી વૃક્ષો વાવી રહ્યા છીએ એ પણ ઉછેરવાના સંકલ્પ સાથે. VSSM એ 1000 થી લઈને 12,000 વૃક્ષોના જંગલો ઊભા કર્યા છે. વળી એની પૂર્ણ રીતે દેખરેખ પણ લેવાય એમ અમે કરીએ છીએ. 

પણ વૃક્ષ ઉછેરવાનું કામ બાળક ઉછેરવા જેવું કપરુ ખુબ મહેનત કરવી પડે. ખર્ચો પણ ઘણો થાય. વળી કુદરતને ગમે એવા આ કાર્યામાં કુદરતી અને માનવ સર્જીત અકલપ્નીય વિધ્નો પણ આવે પણ ખેર એ તો સ્વીકાર્યું જ છે. એ માટે અમારા કાર્યકરો નારણભાઈ રાવળ, મહેશભાઈ ચૌધરી, હરેશભાઈ રાવળ વગેરેની મહેનત ઘણી. 

ગત વર્ષથી બનાસકાંઠા જગંલ વિભાગે સમાાજિક વનીકરણ અંતર્ગત થઈ રહેલા જંગલ ઉછેરના કાર્યોમાં અમને પણ સાથે જોડાવવા કહ્યું. જ્યાં એમણે ઝાડ વાવ્યા ત્યાં પાણી માટે ડ્રીપની વ્યવસ્થા જરૃર પડે વૃક્ષમિત્રને થોડો વધારે પગાર આપવાનું અમે કરવાનું નક્કી કર્યું. આમ જંગલ વિભાગ અને VSSM ની ભાગીદારીથી ગત વર્ષ અને આ વર્ષના મળીને લગભગ 60,000 થી વધુ વૃક્ષો ઉછરી રહ્યા છે. 

બનાસકાંઠાનું વાઘરોલગામ જ્યાં જંગલવિભાગની સાથે અમે ભાગીદારી કરી. આ ભાગીદારીમાં મદદ કરી જવેલેક્ષ ગ્રુપે. જ્વેલેક્ષના આદરણીય પિયુષભાઈ કોઠારી હંમેશાં અમારી સાથે.. બસ તેમની લાગણી માટે આભારી. 

અને જંગલ વિભાગનો પણ આભાર. આવી ભાગીદારી મહત્તમ થાય તો ઉત્તમ પરિણામ મળી શકે જે વાઘરોલમાં ઉછરી રહેલા 6000 થી વધુ વૃક્ષોને જોઈને સમજી શકાય છે.

વર્ષ 2023માં પણ મહત્તમ ભાગીદારી જંગલ વિભાગ બનાસકાંઠા, પાટણ અને સાબરકાંઠા જિલ્લામાં કરે તેમ ઈચ્છીએ..

We have been talking too much about planting and raising trees, isn’t it? You must think about how many more videos and write-ups I would do about our campaign to plant trees. The fact is, these vlogs and blogs are inspiring an increasing number of people to plant trees. Every day I receive messages from 5-6 individuals sharing images of the trees they have planted. And these messages motivate me to keep making more videos. 

It will not be an understatement if I call this a movement. When we fought for the freedom of this country, thousands of freedom fighters strived to spread awareness of the same. Similarly, when thousands join our voice and speak about planting trees, nurturing, and raising them, we will become quiet. But, until then, you have no choice but to tolerate our never-ending sermons.

We are on a mission to make Banaskantha green, for which we sensitize the communities, employ a Vriksh Mitr and create a cohesive environment for the trees to grow.

However, finding the vast amount of saplings we need has been challenging. The forest department gives us free of cost as many saplings they can, but we need to buy the rest. And not all the varieties we need are available. So we had no choice but to start our plant nursery. In 2021, with the support from Kris Flexy Packs, we initiated a plant nursery in Kakar village. In the first year of its inception, we raised 70,000 saplings.

VSSM’s Narannbhai designated the responsibility of raising the plant nursery to Ogharba team, which has been working with the forest department for years. The forest department officials also helped the team. As a result, in 2022, we will bring 45,000 saplings to the plantation sites we have selected. Unfortunately, this year we have been a little late; else, we would have had 70,000 saplings.

We have decided to raise 3 lac saplings next year which will be done in various villages of Banaskantha.

The idea and support to raise a nursery were given by Shri Shaileshbhai Sheth of Kris Flexi Packs. Thank you, Shaileshbhai, friends like you are why we continue to persevere and achieve our goals.

વૃક્ષ વાવો અને ઉછેરોની બૂમો અમે બહુ પાડીએ છીએ નહીં?

તમને થશે કે કેટલું લખશે કેટલા વિડીયો કરશે?

પણ સાચુ કહુ વિડીયો ને લખાણ જોઈને ઘણા લોકોએ પોતાના ગામોમાં સ્વંયમભૂ આ કાર્ય શરૃ કર્યું છે. મને નિત બે પાંચ લોકો પોતે વાવેલા અને ઉછેરેલા વૃક્ષોના ફોટો મોકલે છે.. આ બધુ જોવું એટલે વધારે કહેવાનું મન થાય.. 

આમ જુઓ તો આ એક ચળવળ છે. દેશ ગુલામ હતો ત્યારે જેમને આઝાદી જોઈતી હતી તે કેટલાય લોકો જે રીતે થઈ શકે તે રીતે પ્રજાને જાગૃત કરવા મથતા બસ અમે એજ કરી રહ્યા છીએ..

જે દિવસે અમારી સાથે લાખો હજારો લોકો વૃક્ષો વિષે બોલવા માંડશે, વૃક્ષો જતન સાથે વાવવા માંડશે તે દિવસે અમે ચૂપ થઈ જઈશું...પણ ત્યાં સુધી સહન કરે છૂટકો...

બનાસકાંઠામાં અમે વૃક્ષો વાવી ઉછેરીએ.. પગારદાર માણસ, વાવેલા વૃક્ષોની જાળવણી માટે વૃક્ષોની મા -વૃક્ષમિત્ર રાખીએ. ટૂંકમાં બાલતરુઓ ઉછરે તે માટે શક્ય તૈયારી કરીએ..

પણ આ બલતરુ મેળવવા અમને ઘણી તકલીફ પડે. જંગલ વિભાગ શક્ય વૃક્ષો વિનામુલ્યે આપે. બાકી ખરીદવાનું પણ થાય. વળી ખરીદીમાં પણ ઈચ્છીત બધા વૃક્ષો ન મળે. 

શું કરવું તેની મથામણ ચાલી ને અમે અમારી પોતાની નર્સરી કરવાનું નક્કી કર્યું. કાકર ગામમાં ક્રિસ ફ્લેકસી પેક્સની મદદથી અમે 2021માં નર્સરીની શરૃઆત કરી. પ્રથમ વર્ષે અમે 70,000 બાલતરુ ઉછેરવાનું અમે કર્યું. 

જંગલ વિભાગ સાથે વર્ષોથી કામ કરતા ઓધારબાની ટીમને અમારા નારણભાઈએ નર્સરી ઉછેરવાનું સોંપ્યું. જંગલ વિભાગના અધિકારીઓએ પણ મદદ કરી. 

જેના લીધે 2022માં અમારી નર્સરીમાંથી અમે 45,000 રોપા અમે જે જગ્યા પર વૃક્ષો વાવી રહ્યા છીએ ત્યાં વાવવા માટે લઈ શકીશું,

નર્સરી કરવામાં થોડા મોડા પડ્યા નહીં તો 70,000 રોપાને લઈ શકત. 

ખેર આવ વર્ષ 3,00,000 થી વધુ રોપા અમારી નર્સીમાં કરવાનું આયોજન કર્યું છે. જે 2023માં બનાસકાંઠાના વિવિધ ગામોમાં વવાશે..

નર્સરી કરવાનો વિચાર અને મદદ  ક્રિસ ફ્લેકસી પેક્સ ના આદણીય શ્રી શૈલેષભાઈ શેઠે આપ્યો. થેક્યુ શૈલેષભાઈ તમારા જેવા સ્વજનો સાથે છે માટે જ આ પ્રકારના કાર્યો થઈ શકે છે.

અમારી નર્સરી ઉછેરવાનું કામ કરતી ટીમ, સાથે બનાસકાંઠામાં વૃક્ષારોપણનું કામ કરતા નારણભાઈ, મહેશભાઈ, હરેશભાઈ વગેરે ટીમની જહેમતને પ્રણામ.. તેમની રાતદિવસની મહેનતથી અમે બનાસની ધરતીને હરિયાળી કરવામાં સફળ થઈશું...

‘Ben, we wish to plant thousands of trees in our village, we have space and are also prepared to clean and fence the selected site, but water remains an issue. We do not have enough water in our village. Even the 300 cows in our Gaushala face drinking water difficulties. If we raise the trees, the cows too will find a shade to rest, and so will other living beings.” Ishwarbhai from Banaskantha’s Soni villages shares water woes with us.

It would work wonders if we could make arrangements for water; it could help us raise 15,000 to 20,000 trees and quench the thirst of 300 plus cows. But unfortunately, the only option we had was drilling a borewell, but it was also an expensive option.

VSSM’s well-wishing friend Vijaybhai Doshi and his wife are tree and cow enthusiasts. VSSM shared with Vijaybhai its wish to drill a borewell for the benefit of trees and cattle; they immediately agreed to bear the cost provided the community also shares some of it. Finally, we began drilling a borewell with significant support from Vijaybhai and Soneshwar Goushala, also contributing to the cost.

A Bhoomi Pujan ceremony was performed to seek permission and forgiveness of Mother Earth before we drilled through her belly. The office-bearers of Soneshwar Gaushala and volunteers from the village remained present during the Bhoomi pujan.

We are grateful for allowing Naranbhai and me to perform the Bhoomi Pujan.

We will soon begin the plantation of 20000 trees in the village.

"બેન અમારા ગામમાં હજારો વૃક્ષો ઉછરે એવી જગ્યા છે અમે સફાઈ અને તાર ફ્રેન્સીગ પણ કરી આપીયે   પણ પાણીની વ્યવસ્થા નથી.. અમારી ગૌશાળામાં 300 ગાયો છે એને પણ પાણીની તકલીફ છે. જો વૃક્ષો ઉછરે તો આ ગાયો ને પણ કુદરતી છાંયડો મળે ને કેટલાય જીવોનું ઘર આ વૃક્ષો બને.. અને ગાયોને પણ  પાણીની શાંતિ થઈ જાય"

બનાસકાંઠાના સોની ગામના ભરતભાઈ અને ઈશ્વરભાઈએ આ કહ્યું...

એક સાથે 15000 થી 20,000 વૃક્ષો ઉછરે, ગાયોને પણ પીવાનું પાણી મળી જાય તો કેવું મજાનું કામ થઈ જાય પણ મુશ્કેલી હતી પાણીની... પાણી માટે બોરવેલ સિવાય વિકલ્પ નહીં અને બોરવેલ માટેનો ખર્ચ પાછો મસમોટો...

આમારા કાર્યોમાં અમને મદદ કરતા વિજયભાઈ દોશી ને તેમના પત્ની ગૌ અને વૃક્ષ પ્રેમી. તેમની સામે અમારી લાગણી વ્યક્ત કરી ને એમણે તુરત ગામલોકો થોડી મદદ કરે ને બાકીની અમે કરીશું એમ કહીને બોરવેલ માટે મદદ  કરવાનું સ્વીકાર્યું. 

આમ વિજયભાઈના મહત્તમ સહયોગથી અને સોનેશ્વર ગૌશાળાની ભાગીદારીથી સોનીમાં બોરવેલ બનાવવાનું શરૃ કર્યું.જે જગ્યાએ બોરવેલ કરવાનો છે ત્યાં મા ધરાના હૃદયમાં છેદ કરીને  પાણી ઉલેચવાના. એટલે  મા ધરતીની પેટાળમાંથી પાણી ઉલેચી રહ્યા છીએ તારી છાતી પર છેદ કર્યો એની માફી માંગી અને કદી ખૂટે નહીં એવું પાણી આપજેની પાર્થના સાથે ભૂમીપૂજન કર્યું.

સોનેશ્વર ગૌશાળાના પદાધિકારીઓ તેમજ ગામના સેવાકાર્યોમાં રસ ધરાવનાર સૌ હાજર રહ્યા. બોરવેલનું ભૂમીપૂજન કરવાનો ગામે મને અને અમારા કાર્યકર નારણભાઈને મોકો આપ્યો એ માટે આભાર...બસ 20,000 વૃક્ષોનું સરસ ગ્રામવન ત્યાં ઊભુ કરીએ...

Benap, one of the remotest village of Banaskantha is a village of extremes. Extreme cold, extreme heat and acute water shortage are the norm in this village.

In 2019, Benap’s sarpanch Paragbhai had requested for bringing the tree plantation drive to their village. As a result, we planted trees around the village crematorium. We were a little concerned if they would be cared for, but the vrukshmitra has done an excellent job, and Paragbhai has efficiently supervised the entire effort. Three years later, we have a small woodland growing around the crematorium.

In 2021,  Paragbhai shared a desire to raise a second woodland. The humble community members from the village set aside 9 acres of land. The District Development Officer of Banaskantha helped us clean the space, dig pits for plant trees, and buy saplings. The village community and our dear Krishnakant Uncle and Dr Indira auntie supported to enable us to plant and raise  10,000 trees and create a woodland named Sanjeev Upvan.

It has been eight months since we planted the trees to create Sanjeev Upvan, the second woodland in Benap. The care and nurturing by tree caregiver  Sava Ba, Sarpanch Paragbhai, the proactive youth of Benap and VSSM’s Bhagwan have all helped create a beautiful and calming woodland. The height of the trees has surprised us as well. At one point, we were uncertain if the trees would take roots in this harsh and arid land, but looking at the healthy and happy trees, we are sure of a thriving woodland coming up. The goodwill of all who have supported it has helped create wonders.

A site filled with the notorious gando-baval, Sanjeev Upvan is a sight to behold. Guava, Jamun, Neem, Gulmohar, Peepul, Indian Fig tree, Saru, Peltaform trees sway in joy as if they are eagerly waiting for their inhabitants to arrive.

We have created a small woodland and offered it to Mother Earth, and I wish you spare some resources to develop such forests in your village. A forest that will be home to thousands of living beings. If we can create such woodlands in the rain-starved Banaskantha, the Rain Gods will be compelled to bless the region. So let us all commit to raising Vruksh Mandir in every village.

વૃક્ષમંદિર નિર્માણ..

બનાસકાંઠાનું છેવાડ આવેલું ગામ બેણપ. ટાઢ અને તડકો બેય તોબા પોકારી દે એવા અહીં પડે. પાણીની અછતવાળો વિસ્તાર. ગામમાં વૃક્ષો ઉછેરવા સરપંચ પરાગભાઈએ અમને 2019માં કહેણ મોકલ્યું ને અમે સ્મશાનમાં વૃક્ષો વાવ્યા. જો કે શંકા નહીં ઉછરેની હતી પણ વૃક્ષમિત્રની મહેનત ને સરપંચની દેખરેખના લીધે સૂકા વિસ્તારમાં નાનકડુ વન ઊભુ થઈ ગયું. 

પછી તો હિંમત આવી. 2021માં પરાગભાઈને બીજુ એક વન ઊભુ કરવા જગ્યા આપવા કહ્યું ને ગામના સજ્જન માણસોએ હોંશે હોંશે 9 એકરથી વધુ જગ્યા આપી. બનાસકાંઠાના જિલ્લા વિકાસ અધિકારીએ જગ્યાની સફાઈ, વૃક્ષો વાવવા ખાડા કરવામાં મદદ કરી. ઘણા વૃક્ષો પણ ખરીદીને આપ્યા. બાકીની મદદ ગ્રામજનો ને અમારા પ્રિય ક્રિષ્ણકાંત મહેતા નેેે ડો.ઈન્દીરા મહેતાએ કરી ને સરસ મજાનું સંજીવ ઉપવન ઊભુ થયું જ્યાં 10,000 વૃક્ષો લહેરાઈ રહ્યા છે. ગામમાં અમે ઊભુ કરેેલું આ બીજુ ઉપવન એમાં વૃક્ષ વાવે આઠ મહિના થયા છે પણ અમારા વૃક્ષમિત્ર સવા બા સરપંચ પરાગભાઈ ને ગામના અન્ય ઉત્સાહી યુવાનોની સક્રિયતા ઘણી વળી અમારા કાર્યકર ભગવાનની પણ દેખરેખ એટલે વૃક્ષો સારી રીતે ઉછરી રહ્યા છે. 

વૃક્ષોની ઊંચાઈ પણ નવાઈ લાગે તેવી.. આ વિસ્તાર જે રીતનો એ જોતા આવું સરસ વન ઊભુ થશે એની શંકા  હતી પણ થઈ ગયું. કદાચ મદદ કરનાર સૌનો પુણ્યભાવ પણ કામે લાગ્યો.

જામફળ,જાંબુ, કાશીદ, લીમડો, ગુલમહોર, પીપળ, સરૃ, ઉમરો વગેરે જેવા વૃક્ષો સંજીવ ઉપવનમાં લહેરાઈ રહ્યા છે. એક વખત આ જગ્યા ગાંડાબાવળથી ભરેલી હતી. ત્યાં હવે જાતજાતના ફૂલ ફળવાળા વૃક્ષો ઉગ્યા છે. આ વૃક્ષો મોટા થશે ને હજારો જીવોનું આ ઘર બનશે.. 

બેણપ ગામે નાનકડુ જંગલ બનાવીને મા ધરતીનેે આપવાનું કર્યું. તમે પણ તમારા ગામમાં એક નાનકડુ જંગલ - ભગવાનના ભાગરૃપે કાઢો તેવું ઈચ્છુ જ્યાં અબોલ જીવો કોઈ ભય વગર રહી શકે.  ગાઢ જંગલ 10000 થી 15000 વૃક્ષોનું ગામે ગામ થશે તો ઓછા વરસાદવાળા બનાસકાંઠામાં ભગવાને વરસવા મજબૂર થવું પડશે એ નક્કી તો ચાલો ગામે ગામ વૃક્ષમંદિરોનું નિર્માણ કરીએ...

The wise and aware community leaders of various villages have begun sending requests to VSSM for launching a tree plantation campaign in their respective villages. VSSM calls the plantation sites – vruksh-mandir/tree temples.

Maheshbhai from Tharad’s Duva village called us, and we reached the village to inspect the site around the village crematorium. The community had initiated clearing the area of wild baval trees and building a boundary wall around the chosen location. They had also made arrangements for water to set up the drip irrigation system.

VSSM will dig pits to plant trees, bring trees, install a drip irrigation system, and appoint and pay the vriksh-mitr (caretaker of the trees).

Duva’s Maheshbhai is a very humble and aware individual; he understands that the more vruksh-mandirs we raise, the better it is for Mother Earth. So he has convinced the sarpanch and community of Kalash Luvana village to raise a tree temple in their town.

We need individuals like Mahesbhai, who can play the catalyst and convince more villages to join in.

If the community of Banaskantha wakes up to this acute need for planting trees, we will soon be able to make Banaskantha green again!

પોતાના ગામમાં વૃક્ષમંદિર ઊભા કરવા ગામના જાગૃત વ્યક્તિઓના કહેણ આવવા માંડ્યા. 

થરાદના ડુવા ગામથી મહેશભાઈનો ફોન આવ્યો ને અમે પહોંચ્યા ડુવાનું સ્મશાન જોવા. ખૂબ મોટુ સ્મશાન. અમારી શરત પ્રમાણે સ્મશાન ફરતે દિવાલ કરેલી ને ગાંડાબાવળથી ભરેલા સ્મશાનમાંથી ગાંડા બાવળ કાઢવાનું પણ ગામના જાગૃત નાગરિકોએ ભેગા મળીને શરૃ કર્યું. આ સિવાય પાણીની વ્યવસ્થા પણ ગામે કરી. 

અમે ખાડા કરી, વૃક્ષો લાવી વાવવાનું, ડ્રીપ લગાડવાનું ને ત્રણ વર્ષ માટે વૃક્ષમિત્રની નીમણૂક કરી વૃક્ષની માવજત કરવાનું કરીશું. 

ડુવાના મહેશભાઈ એકદમ સજ્જન માણસ ને જાગૃત પણ ખરા અમે એમને વધારે વૃક્ષમંદિર બનાવવા અન્ય પરિચીત ગામોને તૈયાર કરવા કહ્યું ને એમણે કળશ લુવાણાગામના સરપંચ શ્રી સાથે વાત કરીને ત્યાં વૃક્ષો વવાય તે માટે સૌને તૈયાર કર્યા. 

મહેશભાઈની જેવા જાગૃત નાગરીકોની અમને જરૃર જેઓ આંગળી ચિંધવાનું કરે. 

બસ બનાસકાંઠા જાગે ને સહયોગ કરે તો આપણે સૌ સાથે મળીને એને હરિયાળો કરીશું એ નક્કી..

“Ben, trust us, we shall raise all the trees we will plant!”  Bhikhabhai and Haribhai from Banaskantha’s Bharkavada had mentioned this firmly.

In July 2021, after it was decided to raise trees in the village amidst a partnership between VSSM and the village community, 501 couples had planted 2300 trees at the village crematorium.

As a result of the enthusiasm of village youth, retired forest officer and the specially appointed Vruksh Mitra, all the planted trees are growing well.

We are grateful for the support from  Rosy Blue (India) Pvt Ltd towards this plantation. 

It is fitting to mention the proactiveness of the village community towards ensuring the trees are well looked after and grow well. The villagers have volunteered to plough the soil around the trees so that the roots breathe well.

We have pledged to plant 5 lac trees in various villages of Banaskantha for the upcoming planting season in June 2022. Of course, we will be partnering with the local community and administration.

The local administration has joined hands to fulfil this pledge; we want more companies/corporates like Rosy Blue to partner with the cause and adopt one or two village woodland.

We request you join hands to help us cover our mother Earth in green. The trees will be home to thousands of living species. And that means being drenched in an abundance of blessings. I hope you choose to be showered with such blessings!!

'બેન ભરોસો રાખજો જેટલા વૃક્ષો વાવશો એ બધાય ઊછરશે..'

બનાસકાંઠાના ભરકાવાડાના ભીખાભાઈ અને હરીભાઈએ દૃઢતાથી આ કહેલું.

જુલાઈ 2021માં VSSM અને ગામની ભાગીદારીથી વૃક્ષો ઉછેરવાનું અમે નક્કી કર્યું.ને ગામના સ્મશાનમાં 501 દંપતી સાથે અમે સૌએ પૂજન કરીને 2300 થી વધુ વૃક્ષો વાવેલા. ગામના ઉત્સાહી યુવાનો, નિવૃત વન અધિકારી અને વૃક્ષોની માવજત માટે અમે રાખેલા વૃક્ષમિત્રની ઘણી માવજતના લીધે વાવેલા તમામ વૃક્ષો આજે સરસ ઉછરી રહ્યા છે. 

રોઝી બ્લુ (ઈન્ડિયા) પ્રા.લી. એ અમને વૃક્ષો ઉછરેવા માટે આર્થિક સહયોગ કર્યો. જે માટે અમે એમના આભારી છીએ. 

સાથે ગામ પણ એવું સજ્જ. એક વર્ષમાં લગભગ ચારેક વખત તો એમણે સ્વખર્ચે વૃક્ષોની વચ્ચે ખેડાણ કર્યું જેથી વૃક્ષોને ઓક્સિજન સતત મળે ને એનો ગ્રોથ સરસ થાય. 

જુન 2022 થી બનાસકાંઠાના વિવિધ ગામોમાં બનાસકાંઠા વહીવટીતંત્ર સાથે રહીને 5 લાખ વૃક્ષો ઉછેરવાનો સંકલ્પ છે. 

આ સંકલ્પને પૂર્ણ વહીવટીતંત્ર તો સાથે આ્વ્યું. હવે રોઝી બ્લ(ઈન્ડિયા) પ્રા. લી. જેવી વધુ કંપનીઓ જોડાય તેમ ઈચ્છીએ. એક એક કંપની - વ્યક્તિ એક એક ગામમાં ઉપવન ઊભુ કરવા આર્થિક મદદ કરે તો આ લક્ષાંક એવડો મોટો નથી કે પૂર્ણ ન થાય..

વૃક્ષો ઉછેરવા, ઘરતી માને એનો લીલુડો શણગાર આપવા આપ સૌને મદદ કરવા વિનંતી.. મૂળ આ લીલુડો શણગાર હજારો જીવોનું ઘર થશે ને એ સુખી થશે તો આપણે પણ સુખી થઈશું.

Yavarpura village's tree devotees wish to turn the crematorium into a green oasis...

 ‘We wish to turn the crematorium into a green oasis,’ Valjibhai, the sarpanch of Banaskantha’s Yavarpura village and tree devotees Bhamraji and Rameshbhai tell me. All of them also enjoy the support of the villagers. 

The village crematorium is vast, and the community has already planted 3000 trees and appointed a vrikshmitra to look after and raise the trees. 

VSSM insists on forming a Tree Committee, and we have one at each of the 62 sites we have planted trees, but Yavarpur Tree committee is the largest and most active of them all.

Along with community contribution, our respected Shri Krishnakant Mehta and Dr Indira Mehta have supported with funds to raise these 3000 trees. 

During my recent visit to Yavarpura, the community leaders shared their wish to plant more trees this season. 

It is such enthusiasm that fuels our willingness to keep striving. Our team members Naranbhai, Maheshbhai and Hareshbhai work very hard to fulfil the commitment. 

We have decided to plant 5 lac trees in June 2022. I hope that the universe conspires and helps us achieve the target. 

 'અમારા સ્મશાનને નંદનવન બનાવવું છે'એવું બનાસકાંઠાના ડીસાના યાવરપુરાગામના સરપંચ વાલજીભાઈ ને વૃક્ષો પ્રત્યે અપાર મમતા રાખના ભમરાજીભાઈ અને રમેશભાઈએ કહ્યું. વળી એમને ટેકો કર્યો ગામ આખાએ...

ખુબ મોટુ સ્મશાન 3000થી વધુ વૃક્ષો ગાંડાબાવળની સફાઈ કરીને વાવ્યા ને એને ઉછેરવા વૃક્ષમિત્ર પણ રાખ્યા. અમે જે ગામમાં વૃક્ષો ઉછેરીએ તે ગામમાં વૃક્ષમંડળી પણ બનાવીએ. 

આમ તો અત્યાર સુધી અમે 62 સાઈટ પર વૃક્ષો ઉછેરી રહ્યા છીએ એમાં યાવરપુરાની વૃક્ષમંડળી સૌથી મોટી ને વળી પાછી સક્રિય પણ એવી.

3000 વૃક્ષો ઉછેરવા આદરણીય ક્રિષ્ણકાંત મહેતા ને ડો.ઈન્દિરા મહેતાએ મદદ કરીએ વળી ગામની ભાગીદારી તો એમાં ખરી જ.આ વર્ષે ગામમાં વધારે વૃક્ષો ઉછેરવા છે એવું હમણાં યાવરપુરા જવાનું થયું એ વખતે  સરપંચ શ્રીએ તેમજ અન્ય સૌએ કહ્યું...

આવા ઉત્સાહી ગામોને જોઈને અમને પણ કાર્ય કરવાની હોંશ થાય. અમારી બનાસકાંઠાની ટીમ નારણભાઈ, મહેશભાઈ અને હરેશભાઈ પણ એવા જ સક્રિય એટલે આ બધા કાર્યો સફળતા પૂર્વક પાર પડે..

જુન 2022માં 5 લાખ વૃક્ષો ઉછેરવાનો લક્ષાંક છે. કુદરત આ લક્ષાંક પૂર્ણ કરાવે તેવી અભ્યર્થના....
