“Now we feel, they should just pick us up and throw us into Pakistan. It might be bearable if a foreign country treated us like this, —but it hurts far more when our own people do it,”

With a heavy heart, Fuliben Saraniya of Trajpar, Morbi, said these words. In a way, her anguish is justified.

In 2022, the Honorable Chief Minister personally handed over allotment letters of housing plots to 124 families. But when the plots were assigned, the local people vehemently opposed their settlement, and since then, the issue has been hanging in the air.

At present, these 124 families keep wandering around the Morbi area without a permanent place.

When we met them at Ravapar recently, they expressed their rage, exasperation: “Come to our settlement during the monsoon, and you’ll truly understand our situation. Where to cook in the pouring rain? Snakes constantly seep into this abandoned and desolate open land. At night, we fear even placing our feet out of the cot. Sir, we have suffered too much. If the government cannot allot us the promised land, then allot us the land somewhere else—but please arrange to settle us properly.”

Listening to such stories of extreme hardship, we become dismal with sorrow.

We approached the District Collector and requested that these families be urgently relocated to another suitable site. He assured us that he would proceed quickly to settle this issue.

It is necessary to visit the homes of these marginalized people, more particularly during the monsoon, to truly understand their real hardship. If, after seeing their lives, we still do nothing, we would rightly be called heartless. Any compassionate person would feel this way.

Therefore, we sincerely appeal to the Government and the Honorable Chief Minister to provide these families with a place where they are accepted, where no one rejects them. And we appeal to society to come out of narrow- mindedness. These families are part of us; they are ours. Before driving them out so harshly, let us try placing ourselves in their situation. Placing our feet in their shoes, even for a moment, will make us realize where and how it hurts!!

“હવે તો ઉપાડીને પાકીસ્તાન નાખી આવે તો હારુ. પારકા દેશના આવો વ્યવહાર કરે તો વેઠાશે પણ પોતાનાનો નથી વેઠતો”

મોરબીના ત્રાજપરમાં રહેતા ફુલીબેન સરાણિયાએ ભારે હૈયે આ કહ્યું. એમનું આવું કહેવું એક રીતે વ્યાજબી પણ ખરુ.

આ પરિવારોના વસવાટ સામે વિરોધ કર્યો ને વાત ખોરંભે ચડી.

હાલ આ 124 પરિવારો મોરબી આસપાસમાં બસ રઝડ્યા કરે છે.

હાલ રવાપરમાં રહેતા આ પરિવારોને મળી ત્યારે એમણે રોષ સાથે કહ્યું, “ચોમાસામાં અમારી વસાહતમાં આવો તો

અમારી સ્થિતિનો સાચો ખ્યાલ આવે. વરસતા વરસાદમાં રાંધવું ક્યાં? એરુ તો આ અવાવરુ જગ્યામાં નિત નીકળે.

રાતના ખાટલા નીચે પગ મુકતા બીક લાગે. ભઈ સાબ બહુ વેઠ્યું. સરકારે નક્કી કરેલી જગ્યા ન અપાય તો બીજે ક્યાંક

આપો પણ અમને ઠેકાણે પાડો.”

ભયંકર વિપદાવાળી વાતો સાંભળીને આપણે ગમગીન થઈ જઈએ.

અમે જિલ્લા કલેક્ટર શ્રીને મળ્યા ને અન્ય કોઈ જગ્યાએ આ પરિવારોને ઝટપથી ખસેડવા વિનંતી કરી. એમણે પણ

આ દિશામાં ઝડપથી કામ કરશે એમ જણાવ્યું.

આમ તો વંચિતોના દ્વારે એમની સાચી સ્થિતિનો ચિતાર લેવા ચોમાસામાં ખાસ જવું. એમની જીંદગી જોયા પછી કશું ન

કરીએ તો આપણે ઢીઢ કહેવાઈએ એવું લાગણીસભર વ્યક્તિ હોય તો થશે જ.

ખેર સરકારને અને આદરણીય મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રીને પણ આ પરિવારોને ઝડપથી એવી જગ્યા આપવા વિનંતી જ્યાં એમનો

સ્વીકાર થાય. કોઈ એમને કનડે નહીં. ને સમાજને પણ સંકુચિતામાંથી બહાર આવવા વિનંતી. આ બધા આપણા જ

પરિવારો છે. એમને આમ હડહડ કરી કાઢી મુકતા પહેલા એમની જગ્યાએ આપણી જાતને એક વખત ચોક્કસ મુકવાનું

કરીએ...

In Morbi, families from the Gadaliya nomadic community, who wandered for generations, now have permanent homes in Charadva.

These homes were built with the support of the government and a planning company. For years, these families lived under makeshift roofs or open skies — for them, a permanent house was just a dream. But through the joint efforts of the government and society, that dream has come true.

Of course, there were challenges. The plots allotted for housing were directly under a 64 kV power line managed by GETCO. This made construction impossible. But with the support of our Honourable Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel and the cooperation of GETCO, the power line was shifted, and the homes were finally built.

In this community, children’s education is not given much importance. Many believe that studying just five or seven books is "enough." We keep reminding them:

"If you don’t educate your children today, how will the future generation’s life improve?"

Also, their traditional occupations are no longer viable, which adds to their struggles. We continue to engage with them, hoping these conversations will help bring a shift in mindset, especially toward education.

Since getting homes, the Gadaliya families are more motivated to earn. Some now rent vehicles and drive for a living. But many more steps are needed to improve their lives further.

Recently, we planned a visit to meet the District Collector of Morbi to discuss the community’s progress and future needs. During our visit to Charadva, we had a detailed conversation with him.

Currently, seven families are still awaiting residential plots. We raised this issue during our meeting with the Collector, who assured us that swift action would be taken. We hope that in the coming days, these families too will have a home of their own.

We are deeply grateful to Honourable CM Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel. Thanks to his compassion, many families from nomadic communities now have permanent homes and a stable address — a new identity.

We also express heartfelt appreciation for our dedicated field workers Kanubhai and Chhayabahen, whose tireless efforts helped settle these families.

Having such committed team members in VSSM is truly a matter of pride.

“મોરબીમાં સદીઓથી રઝળપાટ કરતા પરિવારોને ચરાડવામાં પાક્કા ઘર મળ્યા.”

મોરબીનું ચરાડવા અમે ત્યાં વિચરતી જાતિમાંના ગાડલિયા સમુદાયના ઘરો સરકાર તેમજ નિયોજન કંપનીની મદદથી બાંધ્યા. વર્ષો પતરાની આડાશો તો ક્યાંક ખુલ્લામાં પોતાનો આશરો કરી રહેનાર ગાડલિયા માટે પાક્કુ ઘર તો સપના જેવું પણ એ સરકાર અને સમાજના સહિયારા પ્રયાસથી એ થઈ શક્યું.

જો કે અડચણો ઘણી આવી. જ્યાં પ્લોટ ફળવાયા તે પ્લોટની બરાબર ઉપરથી જેટકોની 64 કેવીની લાઈન પસારથાય. આવામાં ત્યાં ઘર બાંધવા તો અશક્ય. પણ આપણા મુખ્યમંત્રી આદરણીય શ્રી ભુપેન્દ્રભાઈ પટેલની મદદથી અને જેટકોની પણ લાગણીથી લાઈન ખસી અને તમામ પરિવારોના ઘરો બંધાયા.

આ વસાહતમાં બાળકોનું ભણાવવાનું ખાસ થાય નહીં. પાંચ, સાત ચોપડી ભણી ગ્યા એટલે ઘણું એવું આ બધા માને ને અમે કહીએ ભણશો નહીં તો આવનારી પેઢીની જીંદગી કેવી રીતે બદલાશે? વળી તેમના પરંપરાગત ધંધા પણ હવે ચાલતા નથી. આ બધા મુદ્દે અમે સતત કહેતા રહીએ જેથી ક્યાંક મનમાં વાત ઉતરે ને બાળકોનું ભણતર આગળ વધે.

ઘરો થયા પછી ગાડલિયા પરિવારોની કમાવવાની હોંશ વધી છે. લોકો ભાડેથી ગાડીઓ ચલાવતા થયા છે. પણ હજુ જીંદગી વધારે બહેતર કેવી રીતે થાય એ બધી વાતો કરવા મોરબી જિલ્લા કલેક્ટર શ્રીને મળવા જવાનું હતું તે ચરાડવા પણ પહોંચ્યા ને એમની સાથે ઘણી વાતો કરી.

7 પરિવારોને હજુ રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ મળ્યા નથી તે એ અંગે પણ વાત થઈ. આ સાતેયને પ્લોટ મળે તે માટે મોરબી કલેક્ટર શ્રી ને મળ્યા ત્યારે વાત કરી. એમણે આ મુદ્દે ઝડપથી કામગીરી કરવા કહ્યું છે. આવાનારા દિવસોમાં આ પરિવારો પણ ઘરવાળા થાય એવું ઈચ્છીએ.

આદરણીય મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રીનો ઘણો આભાર. એમની લાગણીથી વિચરતી જાતિના ઘણા પરિવારો હવે ઘરવાળા થઈ રહ્યા છે, એમને સ્થાયી સરનામા મળી રહ્યા છે.

અમારા કાર્યકર કનુભાઈ અને છાયાબહેનની મહેનત પણ આ પરિવારોને થાળે પાડવામાં ઘણી. એમના જેવા સંનીષ્ઠ કાર્યકરો VSSM પાસે હોવાનું ગૌરવ.

"We have lived in the village for years, but no one has paid attention to us."

This sentence is often heard from many people, and every time I hear it, it saddens me. The person living in the village is an inseparable part of the village, so why does no one pay attention to their condition?

When working with marginalized or deprived communities, we have to travel from village to village, and in almost all of them, the people living in these settlements express the same complaint.

Tatosangam, a village in Mehsana district, is home to Kangsiya families who have lived there for generations. They earn their livelihood by selling bangles, baskets, and mats. They have built their homes with mud in the place where they live. However, they constantly live in fear of being evicted. Our work is to make sure that these families live without fear. The government also supports us in this effort.

The government has promised them plots of land to give them peace of mind, where they won't have to fear eviction. As part of the process of applying for land, we ensure that these families receive all necessary documentation. The Kangsiya families living in Tatosangam did not have caste certificates.

With the help of VSSM worker Rizwanbhai and the compassion of the Social Welfare Department, these families were provided with caste certificates.

All the families insisted that we visit their settlement. They believed that if the government saw their situation firsthand, they would be able to raise their concerns with more authority. We visited their settlement and distributed the caste certificates.

Now, we hope that all these families will soon have residential plot ownership with an address in their name.

 ‘અમે વર્ષોથી ગામમાં જ રહીએ પણ અમારા પર કોઈએ ધ્યાન ન દીધું’

આ વાક્ય અનેકોના મોંઢે સાંભળવાનું થાય ને જ્યારે પણ એ સાંભળુ ત્યારે મન ખીન્ન થઈ જાય. ગામમાં રહેનાર વ્યક્તિ ગામનું અભીન્ન અંગ ગણાય છતાં એમની સ્થિતિ તરફ કોઈ કેમ નહીં જોતા હોય?

વિચરતી જાતિઓ કે વંચિતો સાથેના કામો અર્થે ગામડે ગામડે અનેક વસાહતમાં ફરવાનું થાય ને જેટલી પણ વસાહતમાં જઈએ તેમાંની મોટાભાગની વસાહતોમાં રહેતા લોકોની આ રાડ.મહેસાણા જિલ્લાનું તાતોસણગામ. કાંગસિયા પરિવારો વર્ષોથી ગામામાં રહે. બંગડી, બોરિયા બકલ વેચવાનો ધંધો કરે. કાચા છાપરા પણ એ જે જગ્યા પર રહે ત્યાં એમણે બાંધ્યા. પણ સતત ભય જગ્યા ખાલી કરાવી દેશોનો લાગ્યા કરે. અમે આવા પરિવારોને નિર્ભય કરવાનું કામ હાથ ધર્યું છે. સરકાર પણ આ કાર્યમાં અમને ખુબ સહયોગ કરે. રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ એ એમને આપેલું નિર્ભયપાણનું વચન. જ્યાંથી કોઈ જગ્યા ખાલી કરાવશેનો ડર ન લાગે. પ્લોટ મેળવવા અરજી કરીએ એ પ્રક્રિયાના ભાગરૃપે જ આ પરિવારોને તમામ પૂરાવા મળે તેવા પ્રયત્નો કરીએ. તાતોસણામાં રહેતા પરિવારો પાસે પણ જાતિ પ્રમાણપત્ર નહીં.

VSSMના કાર્યકર રીઝવાનભાઈની મદદથી અને સમાજ કલ્યાણ કચેરીની લાગણીથી આ પરિવારોને પ્રમાણપત્ર મળ્યા.

બધા પરિવારોનો આગ્રહ હતો એક વખત વસાહતમાં તમે આવો. સ્થિતિ જોશો તો સરકાર ને અમારી વાત તમે વધારે ભાર પૂર્વક કહી શકશો

એવું એમનું માનવું હતું. તે ખાસ એમની વસાહતમાં ગયા. જાતિપ્રમાણપત્રનું વિતરણ પણ કર્યું. 

બસ હવે આ બધા ઝટ પોતાની માલીકીની સરનામાવાળી જગ્યાવાળા થાય તેમ ઈચ્છીએ.

How much patience can one have?

Over 130 families in Visnagar, Mehsana, showed patience for almost 16 years, with the hope of having their own home. They had already made an application for plot allocation, but there was no success.

With the help of Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel, Visnagar MLA, and Health Minister Rishikeshbhai, these families will finally get plots. However, soon after the plot allocation, the National Highway Authority stated that the road passes through the land. As a result, the whole process had to be restarted, and after nearly two years, the plot allocation was approved again.

Now, the documents will be ready, and soon the families will be able to build their homes.

But sometimes, seeing time pass by, patience runs out. These families’ financial ability is not enough to build their homes on their own. They need support. A home is often seen as the first step towards progress, which is why we place significant focus on this work. VSSM, with the help of various well-wishers and the government, has built 1,751 homes.

We will soon begin the work of building homes in Visnagar and Surendranagar's Chuda as well.

The families gathered at the plot allocation site and discussed how to build their homes.

While it's easy to say that everything will work out smoothly, building a dream home or bungalow requires significant funds. The families said, "We don't have much capacity, but we will contribute whatever we can."

The government will provide ₹1.20 lakh per family, and our dear Kishorbhai Patel, who resides in America, will contribute between ₹1.50 lakh to ₹1.75 lakh per family in memory of our beloved Kushalbhai. A few families will also contribute. Through collective effort, a thriving settlement will be built.

We hope that VSSM can be an instrument for the construction of many such settlements, bringing well-being to many families.

કોઈ કેટલી ધીરજ રાખી શકે?

મહેસાણાના વીસનગરના 130 થી વધારે પરિવારોએ લગભગ 16 વર્ષ ધીરજ ધરી. પોતાનું ઘર થાય એવી એમની ખેવના. પ્લોટ ફાળવણીની દરખાસ્ત કરી દીધેલી. પણ કાંઈ મેળ ન પડે. 

મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી ભુપેન્દ્રભાઈ પટેલ અને વીસનગરના ધારાસભ્ય ને આરોગ્ય મંત્રી શ્રી ઋષીકેષભાઈની મદદથી આ પરિવારોને પ્લોટ ફળવાય. પણ પ્લોટ ફળવાયાને તુરત નેશનલ હાઈવે ઓથોરીટી એ કહ્યું કે, જગ્યામાંથી રોડ જાય છે. એ પછી આખુ પ્રકરણ ફરીથી ચાલ્યું ને લગભગ બે વર્ષ પછી પાછો ફેર પ્લોટ નો હુકમ થયો. 

હવે સનદો મળશે ને પછી ઘર બાંધવાનું કરીશું.

પણ ક્યારેક સમય વહેતો જોઈને ધીરજ ખુટી જાય. આ બધાની આર્થિક ક્ષમતા એટલી નહીં કે પોતાની રીતે પોતાનું કરી લે. ક્યાંક એને ટેકાની જરૃર. ઘર પ્રગતિનું પ્રથમ સોપાન લાગે. એટલે જ અમે આ કાર્યમાં ખાસ્સો ભાર આપીએ. 1751 ઘર VSSM એ વિવિધ સ્વજનો અને સરકારની મદદથી બાંધ્યા. 

વિસનગર અને સુરેન્દ્રનગરના ચુડામાં પણ ઘર બાંધવાનં કામ ઝટ શરૃ કરીશું.

પ્લોટ ફળવાયાની જગ્યા પર પરિવારો એકત્રીત થયા અને ઘર કેવા બાંધવા તેની ચર્ચા કરી. 

આમ તો ગોળ નાખીએ એટલી લાપસી ગળી થાય. ઘરનું પણ એવું સ્વપ્ન બંગલા જેવા ઘરનું  તો પૈસા પણ એવા જોઈએ.. અમારા પરિવારોએ કહ્યું, અમારી પાસે ઝાઝી ક્ષમતા નથી પણ થોડા ઘણા તો અમે પણ નાખીશું.

સરકારના 1.20 લાખ મળશે. અમેરીકામાં રહેતા અમારા કિશોરભાઈ પટેલ પ્રિય કુશલભાઈની સ્મૃતિમાં પ્રત્યેક પરિવારના ઘર માટે લગભગ 1.50 થી 1.75 સુધીની મદદ કરશે. થોડા ઘણા પરિવારો પણ આપશે. આમ સહિયારા પ્રયાસથી વહાલપની વસાહત નિર્માણ પામશે...

"The canal was drying up, and the situation was worsening. Was there no way to help? No one was doing anything. But look, beside the canal, they dug deep with a JCB machine. The workers there said, 'The canal will be emptied, it will be fixed soon.' The sand from around Himatnagar was being removed and shifted elsewhere. But now, there’s no sand left, and we don’t have the money to rent equipment," said the Saraniya family residing in Himmatnagar with heavy hearts.

To help these families find land to settle on, our worker, Tohidbhai, has already taken action. The Collector has identified the location and prepared the map for the settlement. In a way, all that’s left is the order for the allocation of plots. However, time is passing, and the question these families have is where they will go once they vacate their homes. Therefore, we hope that this process will be completed quickly.

Sometimes, it happens that those in positions of power can bring happiness to many people. In the world, many people don’t even realize the purpose of their lives, while nature gives others the opportunity to live with a sense of purpose. If we understand this purpose, we can become instruments for the welfare of many lives. I travel across the country and meet the underprivileged; seeing their situation, it becomes clear that if everyone dedicates themselves, a lot can be achieved.

We hope that the families in Himmatnagar will also be treated with compassion, and their plots will be allocated soon.

 "કેનાલ મોથે સાપરા નોખી પડ્યા'તા. હતુ ક ઓય કણ તો કુન નડવાના? કોઈ ખાલી નઈ કરાવ. પણ જુઓ ન આ કેનાલની બાજુમો જેસીબીથી કોક ઊંડુ કર તે અમન કેનાલ વાળા આઈન ખાલી કરવાનું કઈ જ્યાં. આખા હિંમતનગરમાં પહેલા જમી રેતી તે ઓમથી તેમ ઘૈઈક રખડ્યા. પણ હવ જમી નહીં અન ભાડુ ભરવાના અમારી કને પૈસા નઈ"

હિંમતનગરમાં રહેતા સરાણિયા પરિવારોએ ભારે હૈયે આ કહ્યું. 

આ પરિવારોને રહેવા જમીન મળે તે માટે અમારા કાર્યકર તોહીદભાઈએ કાર્યવાહી કરી દીધી છે. અલબત કલેક્ટર શ્રીએ જગ્યા નક્કી કરી તેના નકશા તૈયાર કરી દીધા છે. એક રીતે કહુ તો પ્લોટ ફાળવણીનો બસ હુકમ થાય એની વાટ છે. પણ સમય જઈ રહ્યો ને છાપરા ખાલી કરીને ક્યાં જશુનો આ પરિવારોને પ્રશ્ન છે એટલે ઉતાવળે આ કામ થાય એવું ઈચ્છીએ. 

ક્યારેક થાય અધિકારગણ પાસે સત્તા છે. એ ધારે તો અનેક લોકોને સુખ પહોંચાડી શકે. દુનિયામાં અનેક લોકોને પોતાના જીવનનો હેતુ ખ્યાલ નથી હોતો જ્યારે અનેક લોકોને હેતુપૂર્વકનુ જીવન જીવવાની તમામ તક કુદરતે આપે છે. આ હેતુ સમજી જઈએ તો અનેક જીવોના કલ્યાણ માં આપણે નિમિત્ત બની શકીએ. દેશભરમાં ફરી છું વંચિતોને મળી છું એમની સ્થિતિ જોઈને જ થાય કે સૌ પોતાની નિષ્ઠા અર્પે તોય ઘણું થઈ જાય...

Free Settlements...

How do such names come about sometimes? Hearing this name, the first thought is that it must refer to settlements of people living for free. And in a way, that's true.

In the country and around the world, there are many people whose situations are dire. Buying a house is impossible for them; even the thought of renting comes with challenges, so they start living in makeshift shelters or tents on government land.

However, among them, there are some shrewd individuals who, while making arrangements, keep the hope that if the government clears the land tomorrow, we might also get something, thus reserving their spots in these free settlements. But there are also many genuine people in real need.

Such free settlements exist in every city, big and small. Recently, I went to Bhavnagar, and there are over 500 families living in a free settlement there.

Some time ago, a notice was issued to vacate the area for all residents, causing widespread fear. There is a large population of the Kangsiya community in this free settlement. Many of them we have even given loans to for building homes, and we've also applied to the collector for permanent housing for them. Following their application, the process for allocating plots was initiated.

When we went to discuss whether they would be willing to relocate if plots were allocated by the government around villages near Bhavnagar, people from other communities also approached us. Communities like Bharwad and Suthar, who are also in a weak position, asked, "If we’ve lived here for years, why isn’t our situation being considered by the government alongside the Kangsiya community?"

The point was valid. We told them to also present their case. The government will certainly consider it.

It seemed more desirable that families living in the free settlement for years be allotted a designated plot of land. Yes, there will be verification to ensure that these people do not have any other address elsewhere.

From our experience, when such matters come to the government's attention and we present our case, the issues are viewed with sensitivity, and resettlement has occurred.

મફતિયુપરુ... 

ક્યારેક થાય આવા નામો કેવી રીતે પડતા હશે? આ નામ સાંભળીને પ્રથમ વિચાર મફતમાં રહેનાર લોકોની વસાહતનું નામ હશે એ આવે.. ને એક રીત વાત સાચી પણ..

દેશ અને દુનિયામાં અનેક લોકો એવા છે જેમની પરિસ્થિતિ ખરાબ. ઘર ખરીદવાનું તો એમના માટે અશક્ય, ક્યાંક ભાડાનું ઘર ખરીદવાનો વિચાર આવે પણ એમાંય પનો ટૂંકો પડે એટલે સરકારી જમીન પર છાપરા કે કાચી પાકી વ્યવસ્થા કરીને એમાં રહેવાનું શરૃ કરે.. 

જો કે આમાં કેટલાક માથાભારે માણસો પણ પોતાની વ્યવસ્થાઓ પેલું રૃમાલ મુકીએ તો કાલે સરકાર જગ્યા ખાલી કરાવે તો આપણને પણ કાંઈક મળે એ આશયથી મફતિયાપરામાં જગ્યા રોકે... પણ ઘણા ખરા લોકો એકદમ ખરેખર જરૂરિયાતવાળા..

આવા મફતિયાપરા નાના મોટા દરેક શહેરમાં હશે.. હમણાં ભાવનગરમાં ફુલસર જવાનું થયું ને ત્યાં પણ 500 થી વધારે પરિવારો મફતિયાપરામાં રહે..

થોડા સમય પહેલાં જગ્યા ખાલી કરવાની અહીં રહેતા તમામને નોટીસ મળી.. સૌ ભયભીત.. 

મફતિયાપરામાં કાંગસિયા સમુદાયની મોટી વસતિ. એમાંથી ઘણાને બે પાંદડે થવા અમે લોન પણ આપેલી ને એમને કાયમી જગ્યા મળે તે માટે કલેક્ટર શ્રીને અરજી પણ કરેલી.. તે એમની અરજી અન્વયે એમને પ્લોટ ફાળવવાની પ્રક્રિયા હાથ ધરાઈ.. સરકાર દ્વારા ભાવનગર આસપાસના ગામમાં રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ ફળવાય તો તમે રહેવા જશો કે કેમ તે અંગે વિગતે વાત કરવા જવાનું થયું ત્યારે અન્ય સમુદાયના લોકો  પણ અમારી પાસે આવ્યા. 

ભરવાડ, સુથાર વગેરે જેમની સ્થિતિ પણ નબળી.. એ લોકોએ કહ્યું, અમે પણ વર્ષોથી અહીંયા રહીએ તો કાંગસિયા સમુદાયની સાથે અમારો વિચાર સરકાર ન કરે?

વાત મુદ્દાની હતી. અમે કહ્યું, તમે પણ રજૂઆત કરો.. સરકાર ચોક્કસ વિચારશે...

મફતિયાપરામાં વર્ષોથી વસતા પરિવારોને નિયત ચો.મી.ની જગ્યા ત્યાં જ આપી દેવાય એ વધારે ઈચ્છનીય એવું એમની સાથેની વાત પરથી લાગ્યું..

હા ચકાસણી ચોક્કસ થાય કે એ લોકો પાસે અન્ય કોઈ જગ્યાએ પોતાનું સરનામુ નથી.. 

અમારા અનુભવે સરકારમાં અમે જ્યારે આવી બાબતો ધ્યાનમાં આવે ને રજૂઆત કરીયે ત્યારે સંવેદનાથી મુદ્દાઓ જોવાય છે ને પુનઃવસન પણ થયા છે..

ભાવનગરના મફતિયાપરામાં પણ લોકોને પસંદ આવે તેવો ઉકેલ આવે તેવું ઈચ્છીયે...

On hearing the word "Dafer" people would shudder. It was said that you do not even go in the direction where they stay. When I started my work with nomadic tribes, I used to hear this a lot. I also used to think that these Dafer people must be so dangerous. It was my keen desire to see & meet them in person. I searched for them and after meeting them my only reaction was of love towards them.

Desperate to survive they would steal, fight and hunt.  The person is not a born criminal. The adverse circumstances, sometimes the response to the challenges faced makes a person take to crime. Allahrakhabhai told me " I take care of the petrol pump. The owner of the petrol pump & the whole family went for a marriage. I took care of the petrol pump for a month. I would collect bundles of cash every day. After a month when the owner came, I handed over the entire cash to him and I got a sigh of relief. Dafer is not the one who would do treachery." 

Very hard working community but unfortunately the impression that has been created is so bad that police would harass them for no fault of their and the society would keep them away again for no fault of theirs.

We worked continuously for many years to see that the image of "dafer" improves. We did good work. This community which was not allowed to stay in the village is now permitted. We would take some share of credit for this to happen. 

The harassment of police was becoming much less.  In some villages we managed to get the land allotted to them as the Government also co-operated. It seemed that everything was quite normal and happy days were here when suddenly the police started harassing them all over again.

From the village of Bajarda, the police caught an innocent young boy, beat him badly and put him in jail. In order that such instances do not increase, the seniors of the Dafer community met in Surendranagar. They told us that we do not want police. As such, who wants police ?

The community that believed in hard work believed that whatever the government does is for their good. If police act badly then we retaliate and the crime rate increases. The families say that even when we have not done anything wrong, the police would harass and beat us badly. It is okay if they beat us when we have done anything wrong. 

We at VSSM have improved the lives of many in "dafer" community. Today most of them work hard to earn their living.. Only wish that the police do not instigate them again wrongly. 

It is very important that police and the society treat them like human beings. In any case, we would fight for them and we will not tolerate it if anybody harasses them for no reason.

ડફેર નામ પડતા જ એક વખત લોકોના હાંજા ગગડી જતા. જે બાજુ ડફેરના ડંગા હોય એ બાજુ ન જવાય એવું સામાન્ય રીતે લોકો કહેતા.

મે જ્યારે વિચરતી જાતિઓ સાથે કામ શરૃ કર્યું ત્યારે ડફેર વિષે આવું બધુ સાંભળેલું એ વખતે થયેલું એવા તે કેવા ખૂંખાર હશે આ લોકો. મળવું છે એમને ને પછી શોધ આદરી. મળી અને મળ્યા પછી એમના પર માત્ર વહાલ આવ્યું.

વખાના માર્યા ચોરી, લૂંટફાટ કે શિકાર કરી લે.. પણ માણસ જન્મજાત ગુનેગાર નથી હોતો. કયાંક વિષમ સ્થિતિ, ક્યાંક કોઈની હરકતો માણસને ગુનેગાર બનાવે. બાકી અલ્લારખાભાઈ કહે એમ, બહેન હું પેટ્રોલ પંપ હંભાળું. પેટ્રોલપંપાના માલીકના ઘેર લગન હતા. આખુ કુટુંબ બારા વહી ગયેલું. મે મહિનો પંપ હંભાળ્યો. રૃપિયાની થોકડીઓ રોજ આવે.. મહિના કેડે માલિક આવ્યા એ થોકડી એમને હોંપી ત્યારે હાશ થઈ. વિશ્વાસઘાત કરે એ ડફેર નહીં.'

ખુબ મહેનતુ માણસો પણ છાપ એવી પડી ગયેલી કે પોલીસેય ઘણી વખત ખોટી રીતે રંજાડે ને સમાજ એ ગુનાહીત છાપના કારણે પોતાની પડખે રાખે નહીં.

ખેર અમે વર્ષો આ સમુદાયની છાપ સુધરે માટે મથ્યા. ઘણું સારું કામ થયું. ત્રણ ગામની સીમની ત્રીભેટ રહેતા, સરળતાથી પોલીસ પહોંચી ન શકે એવી જગ્યાએ રહેતા ડફેર પરિવારોના ડંગા હવે ગામ વચાળે થયા. અમે એ શ્રેયના હકદાર પણ ખરા.

પોલીસની રાડ પણ ઓછી થઈ. કેટલાક ગામોએ અમારા અને સરકારના પ્રયત્નોથી જમીન પણ આપી.

આમ સુખનો સૂરજ ઊગવા જેવું લાગી રહ્યું હતું ત્યાં પોલીસની હેરાનગતિના માઠા વાવડ મળવાના શરૃ થયા.

બાજરડાથી નિર્દોષ છોકરાને પોલીસ લઈ ગઈ. ઢોર માર માર્યો ને હાલ એ જેલમાં. આવા કિસ્સા વધે નહીં એ માટે સુરેન્દ્રનગરમાં ડફેર આગેવાનો એકત્રીત થયા. પોલીસ ન જોઈએની વાત એમણે કહી. આમ પણ પોલીસ કોને જોઈએ?

મહેનતથી પેટિયું રળનાર આ સમુદાયનું રખોપુ સમાજ, સરકાર કરે તે જરૃરી. ખોટી રીતે કનડગત વઘે તો ગુનાનું પ્રમાણ પણ વધશે. અમારા આ પરિવારો જ કહે, બેન ગુનો કયરો ન હોય તોય પોલીસ કનડે, ઢોર માર મારે. તે કરીને મારે તો ઠીક. માર ખાવાનું કારણેય જડે..

આવું કહેનાર અનેકોને અમે આડેથી સીધે રસ્તે લાવ્યા છીએ. મહેનત કરીને એ બધા આજે રોજી રોટી રળે ત્યારે ફરી પોલીસનો ભો એમનામાં ન બેસે તે અગત્યનું.

ફરી એમને આડા માર્ગો લેવા ન પડે તે માટે પોલીસ અને સમાજ તેમને માણસ સમજે તે જરૃરી. ખેર અમે તો એમના માટે મથીશું ને વગર વાંકે કોઈને અડે તો એ સાંખીશું પણ નહીં...

There is a person or a family in deep trouble. We see that person or the family everyday. If  it does not cause any anguish or pain in us , we need to check whether we are really alive or not. True, we cannot resolve all the troubles of everyone in this world. True that it is not always possible to always help monetarily but with our sense of better knowledge than that of a person in trouble, we can always be a moral support & a guide.

In Bhiloda village of Sabarkantha District there lives about 15 families in Bharathari settlement. They have infinite problems. They suffer from vices addiction. The settlement is unhygienic and dirty. Children do not regularly go to school. 

I met them all for the first time. They are staying on Government land. They do not  have their own land. They requested help to get plots in their name & then have houses constructed on it. We helped them get BPL Ration Card & Caste certificate. We applied to the collector for alloting the plot to them. However a very pertinent question we asked them as to why they are not doing anything to uplift themselves.

Cleanliness is one aspect that we need to follow. We may not get water everyday to bathe but we can always keep our surroundings clean. Why is it important to abstain from vices? We spoke a bit tough with them and also with love.  When I was leaving after talking to them , they said that "till date no one has spoken to them about cleanliness and vices. If someone explains the benefits like you did, we would understand. We want to improve ourselves" I do not like the word "improve" but somehow what I felt was that they were right. 

One may feel that what is the need to explain such basic things. One must know it themselves. But frankly , I feel that if talked to it would make a difference.

Whenever you see such a settlement in your neighbourhood, go to them. Talk about the good & bad things happening in society.  Sometimes you may feel that they are resisting change. But one must have patience. If you persist they will accept the change. I have seen that happen.

Bharthari community having got BPL Ration card, they are relieved. We will also see that allotment of plots is expedited and houses also constructed on it. 

Respected Shri Pratulbhai Shroff of Dr K R Shroff Foundation came personally to meet the families. We get a lot of help from him. Nature gives enough money to many. But to some who are willing to spend on others, nature gives in bountiful. That is for sure.  Pratulbhai we are happy that you are with us.

કોઈ વ્યક્તિ કે પરિવાર પારાવાર તકલીફમાં છે. આપણે રોજ એમને જોઈએ પણ એમની તકલીફ જોઈને આપણને પીડા ન થાય તો આપણે ખરેખર જીવતા છીએ કે કેમ એ તપાસવું રહ્યું... હા આખી દુનિયાના કલ્યાણમાં નિમિત્ત બનવાનું આપણાથી શક્ય નથી. પૈસાથી પણ મદદ કરવી કદાચ શક્ય નથી. પણ આપણને મળેલી સમજણ તો અન્યો સાથે ચોક્કસ વહેંચી જ શકાય..

સાબરકાંઠાના ભીલોડાની ભરથરી વસાહતમાં પંદર પરિવારો રહે. ગણ્યા ગણાય નહીં એટલા દુઃખો. પણ પરિવારમાં વ્યસનની પણ તકલીફ. ગંદકી પણ વસાહતમાં ઘણી. કેટલાક બાળકો નિશાળમાં નિયમીત જાય ને કેટલાક નહીં..

આ બધાને પહેલીવાર મળી.. સૌએ સરકારી જમીનમાં રહીએ છીએ. પોતાની જમીન નથી તમે મદદ કરો તો અમને પ્લોટ મળે ને અમે ઘરવાળા થઈએ એની વાત કરી. અમે બીપીએલ  રાશનકાર્ડ કરવામાં, જાતિ પ્રમાણપત્ર કઢાવવામાં મદદ કરી. પ્લોટ મળે તે માટે પણ કલેક્ટર શ્રીને રજૂઆત કરી દીધી છે. પણ આ બધાની વચમાં તમે પોતે તમારા ભલા માટે કેમ કશું કરતા નથી એ પ્રશ્ન એમને પુછ્યો...

ચોખ્ખાઈ કોઈ થોડું શીખવે આપણે જાતે રહેવાનું છે. રોજ નાહવા પાણી ન મળે સમજી શકાય પણ ઘર આગળ કચરો કેવી રીતે સાંખી લેવાય, વ્યસનને શું કામ આમંત્રીત કરવું વગેરે જેવી ઘણી વાતો કરી. થોડો ગુસ્સો ને થોડું વહાલ પણ કર્યું. 

બેઠક પતાવીને નીકળી રહી હતી ત્યારે એમણે કહ્યું, તમે જે કહ્યું એવી વાતો અમારી પાસે આવીને કોઈ કરતું જ નથી. આવું થોડું શીખવે તો મગજમાં બેસી જાય.  અમે પણ સુધરવા માંગીયે છીએ...

સુધરવા શબ્દ મને બહુ ગમતો નથી.. પણ એમની વાત સાચી લાગે.

જો કે આ વાંચીને કેટલાકને એમ પણ થાય કે એમાં શીખવવાનું શું? જાતે સમજી શકાય. 

પણ અનુભવે કહુ તો જાતે બધુ નથી સમજાતુ કોઈ કહે તો ફરક પડે.

તમે આવી વસતિને તમારી આસપાસમાં જુઓ તો સતત એમની પાસે જાવ, સારા નરસાની વાતો કરો, કેટલુંક શીખવો.

ઘણી વખત એમ થાય કે વારંવાર શીખવીએ પણ એ નથી બદલાતા પણ ધીરજ ગુમાવ્યા વગર કરશો તો ચોક્કસ બદલાવ આવશે એ નક્કી અમે એ બદલાવ જોયો છે..

ખેર ભરથરી પરિવારોને મળેલા બીપીએલ રેશનકાર્ડથી એમને રાહત છે. એમને ઝડપથી પ્લોટ મળે તે પણ કરીશું ને ઘર પણ બાંધીશું.

આદરણીય પ્રતુલભાઈ શ્રોફ ડો.કે.આર.શ્રોફ ફાઉન્ડેશનમાંથી ભરથરી પરિવારોને મળવા ખાસ આવ્યા. તેમની અમને ઘણી મોટી મદદ મળે.. પૈસો કુદરત ઘણાને આપે છે પણ એ પૈસો પોતાના સિવાય અન્યોના કલ્યાણમાં ખર્ચનાર વ્યક્તિને ઈશ્વર વધારે આપે છે એ નક્કી.. પ્રતુલભાઈ તમે અમારી સાથે છો એનો રાજીપો... આભાર...

 Home is where you get mental bliss.

There are many in the world who are yet to experience this bliss. They continue to live in fear in their temporary sheds that it will be demolished any time soon. It is like a hanging sword. 

Many ask why these homeless people are not buying their own houses. The straight & simple answer is that they cannot afford. They have no savings & even if they could save they have no concept of saving. This prevented them from buying their own homes.We work with thousands of such families.

In Ahmedabad near Indira Bridge there is a big settlement of such a community called Saraniya. They had settled on this land before independence. We got the news that the government was planning a road passing through the settlement. All those whose hutments were obstructing the planned road were to be demolished. It became a serious problem for them. Where would they be settled ?

We represented before the  Hon. Chief Minister, the above problem. The CM being a kind hearted soul instructed the Municipal Commissioner's office that the people whose huts are being demolished must first be rehabilitated and then only should their huts be demolished. Thanks to such a sensitive Chief Minister, 57 families got allotted houses in Odhav in Indira Nagar.

Within a month everything got settled. The house allotted was very good. It had a bedroom, kitchen, hall & toilet/bathroom. The families that were allotted these houses had never even in their dreams expected it.

The Corporation officers did a draw for alloting the houses. One whole block was reserved for the displaced families. 

The next step was to move the belongings of the families to the new house. The Corporation arranged for its own transport in which the belongings were moved. So far everything was smooth. It seemed that no problems will arise in settling these people.  However, as soon as the vehicle with the belongings and our colleagues Madhuben & Rahul reached Indiranagar the residents refused them entry. They closed the main gate. They also started to threaten the Saraniya families. They got frightened and did not know what to do further.

We remembered our respected Bhagwandas Panchal ( Kaka). We informed him of the situation. He conveyed the whole situation to respected Shri Jagdishbhai Panchal. Shri Jagdishbhai is very sensitive to the plight of homeless people. He always strives to bring them into the mainstream. He has always been a source of help to us. He immediately contacted the concerned officers and gave them instructions. He also asked the Corporator from Odhvana Shri Dineshbhai Desai to help. On the other side all officers of the Corporation , Dy Municipal Commissioner Shri Vishalbhai, Dy Estate Officer Vikrambhai Kataria, Asst Estate Officer Shri Nareshbhai Kharadi, Inspector Shri Narendrabhai Patel, Sub-Inspector  Meghaben Patel and the entire staff of  Estate & Town Planning Department got active along with Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation staff. Because of them the situation came under control.

On instructions of Shri Jagdishbhai, the Police from Odhav also helped. In their presence, the families got entry into their respective homes. It was from afternoon 2:00 pm onwards the problem started and got resolved late at night. The food arrangement for all families was done by the corporator Shri Dineshbhai and other sensitive officers of the corporation.

Salute to all who helped. This must be the first time that the families got the homes immediately after they were demolished, All have been so co-operative towards the families that are normally not welcomed by any one. I am thankful to all for this. 

Our associates Madhuben & Rahul have been working  hard day & night. The leader of the settlement families Vikrambhai & Kashiben also worked hard.  I am proud of having such duty bound workers.

ઘર જ્યાં આપણને હાશ અનુભવાય તે..

દુનિયામાં હજુ એવા ઘણા છે જેમનાથી આ હાશનો અનુભવ છેટો. પતરાં કે પ્લાસ્ટીકની આડાશો કરીને રહેનાર આવા પરિવારોના માથે હંમેશાં કોઈ આવશે ને ખાલી કરાવશેની લટકતી તલવાર.

ઘણા કહે ઘરવિહોણા આ પરિવારો જાતે ઘર ખરીદતા કેમ નથી? જવાબ છે આર્થિક સ્થિતિ નથી. પાઈ પાઈ ભેગી કરવાની સમજણ પણ નથી. એટલે કદાચ વંચિત રહ્યા. અમે આવા હજારો પરિવારો સાથે કામ કરીએ. 

અમદાવાદમાં ઈન્દીરા બ્રીજ પાસે સરાણિયા પરિવારોની મોટી વસાહત. આઝાદી પહેલાંથી બધા ત્યાં વસે. આ વસાહતની વચમાંથી રોડ પસાર થવાના સમાચાર આવ્યા. જેમના ઝૂંપડાં આ રોડમાં કપાતમાં જવાના હતા એ બધા તો હવે ક્યાં જશુંના પ્રશ્નથી મુંઝાઈ ગયા. 

આદરણીય મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી ભુપેન્દ્રભાઈ પટેલ સમક્ષ આ મૂંઝવણની રજૂઆત કરી અને એમણે અમદાવાદ મ્યુનીસીલ કમીશનર કચેરીને જેમના ઝૂંપડાં તુટે છે એમને ઘર આપ્યા પછી જ ઝૂંપડાં તોડવા કહ્યું.

આવા સંવેદનશીલ મુખ્યમંત્રીની લાગણીને પ્રણામ.. તેમની સૂચનાથી 57 પરિવારોને ઓઢવમાં બનેલા ઈન્દિરા નગરમાં ઘર મળ્યા.

લગભગ એકાદ મહિનામાં આ બધુ ગોઠવાઈ ગયું. ઘર પણ એકદમ સરસ. એક બેડરુમ, રસોડુ, હોલ અને ટોયલેટ બાથરૃમ સાથેના આ પરિવારોને આપવાનું નક્કી થયું. આ પરિવારોએ તો આવા ઘરોની ક્યારેય કલ્પના નહોતી કરી. 

કોર્પોરેશનના અધિકારીઓએ ઘરની ફાળવણી કરવા ડ્રો કર્યો. એક આખો બ્લોક આ પરિવારો માટે અલગથી એલોટ કર્યો.

હવે વાત આવી ઝૂંપડાંનો સામાન ઘરમાં ફેરવવાનો. કોર્પોરેશન પોતાની ગાડી આપી જેમાં આ પરિવારો સામાન ભરીને જ્યાં ઘર મળ્યા ત્યાં પહોંચ્યા. 

અત્યાર સુધી બધુ સમુસુતરુ પાર પાડ્યું હતું આગળ પણ બધુ ગોઠવાઈ જશે એમ લાગ્યું. પણ સામાન સાથે આ પરિવારો સાથે અમારા કાર્યકર મધુબહેન અને રાહુલ જેવા ઈન્દિરાનગરમાં પહોંચ્યા કે ત્યાં રહેનાર કેટલાક લોકોએ આ પરિવારોને સોસાયટીમાં દાખલ થવાની મનાઈ કરી. દરવાજા બંધ કરી દીધા. થોડી ધમકીઓ પણ આપી.

સરાણિયા પરિવારો ડર્યા. શું કરવું સમજાતું નહોતું.

ત્યાં અમારા આદરણીય ભગવાનદાસ પંચાલ(કાકા) યાદ આવ્યાને કાકાને સ્થિતિની વાત કરી. તેમણે આદરણીય જગદીશભાઈ પંચાલ માનનીય મંત્રી શ્રી સમક્ષ આખી વાત પહોંચાડી. જગદીશભાઈ વંચિતો માટે ખુબ લાગણી રાખે. હંમેશાં આ બધા પરિવારોને મુખ્ય પ્રવાહમાં લાવવામાં મદદ કરે. અનેક આવી આફતોમાં એમનો સહયોગ મળ્યો. અમારી માટે આમ એ સંકટ સમયની સાંકળ જેવા. એમણે તુરત લાગતા વળગતા અધિકારીઓને સુચના આપી. સાથે  ઓઢવાના કોર્પોરેટ દિનેશભાઈ દેસાઈને પણ મદદરૃપ થવા કહ્યું.

બીજી બાજુ મ્યુનીસીપલ કમીશનર કચેરીના ડેપ્યુટી મ્યુનિસિપલ કમિશનર વિશાલભાઈ ખનામાં

ડેપ્યુટી એસ્ટેટ ઓફિસર વિક્રમભાઈ કટારીયા, આસિસ્ટન્ટ એસ્ટેટ ઓફિસર નરેશભાઈ ખરાડી, ઇન્સપેક્ટર નરેન્દ્રભાઈ પટેલ, સબ ઇન્સપેક્ટર મેઘાબેન પટેલ અને સમગ્ર સ્ટાફ એસ્ટેટ અને ટાઉન પ્લાનિંગ વિભાગ ઉત્તર ઝોન, અમદાવાદ મ્યુનિસિપલ કોર્પોરેશન પણ સક્રિય થયા. જેના લીધે સ્થિતિ થાળે પડી.

આદરણીય જગદીશભાઈની સૂચનાથી ઓઢવ પોલીસ પણ સક્રિય થઈ. પોલીસની હાજરીથી આ પરિવારોને ઘરમાં પ્રવેશ મળ્યો. બપોરના બે વાગ્યાથી આ બધી રમમાણ ચાલતી હતી તેનો નિવેડો મોડી રાતે આવ્યો.

ભૂખ્યા તરસ્યા બેસી રહેેલા આ પરિવારો માટે જમવાની વ્યવસ્થા કોર્પોરેટર દિનેશભાઈ તેમજ કોર્પોરેશનના જાગૃત અને સંવેદનશીલ અધિકારીઓએ કરી.

આપ સૌની સક્રિયતાને સલામ.. જેમના ઘર તૂટ્યા એ પરિવારોને આટલી ઝડપથી ઘર મળવાનું કદાચ પ્રથમ વાર થયું હશે..  

તમે સૌ એવા પરિવારોના શુભમાં નિમિત્ત બન્યા જે પરિવારોને હંમેશાં સૌએ જાકારો આપ્યો. આપ સૌની લાગણી માટે ખુબ આભારી છું...

અમારા કાર્યકર મધુબહેન અને રાહુલની દિવસ રાતની મહેનત. વસાહતના આગેવાન વિક્રમભાઈ અને કેશીબેનની પણ ઘણી મહેનત... ઘર આપતી વેળા ભાર્ગવ, પ્રવીણ પણ સાથે રહ્યા.. તમારા જેવા સંવેદનશીલ કાર્યકરો સાથે હોવાનું ગૌરવ...

57 families got allotted houses in Odhav

The house allotted was very good. It had a bedroom,
kitchen, hall & toilet/bathroom

The CM being a kind hearted soul instructed the
Municipal Commissioner'soffice that the people
 whose huts are being demolished must first be rehabilitated

The Corporation arranged for its own transport in which
 the belongings were moved

 It was from afternoon 2:00 pm onwards the problem
 started and got resolved late at night

The entire staff of  Estate & Town Planning Department
got active along with Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation staff

Shri Jagdishbhai is very sensitive to the
plight of homeless people

Thanks to such a sensitive Chief Minister, 57 families got
allotted houses in Odhav in Indira Nagar.

VSSM request's to the authorities in Jamnagar to identify such homeless people and provide them with homes...

Yes. Ghulambhai told us that you do not have time to come inside to our settlement. Since you were going to pass through this road we waited here.

That was nice I said. Next time I will definitely come to your settlement.

After meeting the Collector of Jamnagar on the way to KanaChikra Village we met the families on the road near the bus stop. They do not have a place of their own to stay. So on the government land they have temporary sheds & stay there. Collector Shri Shah Saheb has shown primary inclination to allot land in Chela Village near Jamnagar. He instructed his officers to prepare the application and other papers. In coming times all the families will have their own houses. Our associate Shri Ghulambhai has got busy preparing all the papers. 

If we are able to take the problems of such nomadic communities to the Government then one day the problems can be resolved.  That is for sure.

The ladies of the salat families sell beauty products. One of the ladies of the family took a loan from VSSM and increased her business. Seeing her, other ladies also sought loan from us. Also told them to take their children for studies to Pansar where our hostel is coming up. Very loving families. Shri Mansukhbhai, a very service minded person, has played a very important role in bringing us to these families. Soon we will go to their settlements where they will have permanent homes. We will be successful and we are trying our best for that.

'હા ગુલામભાઈએ કીધેલું કે, વસાહતમાં અવાય એટલો ટેમ નથી. તે આયાં રોડ માથેથી તમે નિકળવાના હતા તે આંયા આવી ગીયા!'

'સારુ કર્યું...'

'ફરી આવું ત્યારે વસાહતમાં પાક્કુ આવીશ..'

જામનગર કલેક્ટર શ્રીને મળીને અમે કાનાછીકારા જવાના નીકળ્યા ત્યાં રસ્તામાં આવતા જીવાપરના બસસ્ટેશને અમને અમારા પરિવારો મળ્યા.

રહેવા પોતાની જગ્યા નથી. સરકારી જમીન પર છાપરાં નાખી રહેની એમની વાતો.

કલેક્ટર શ્રી શાહ સાહેબે આ પરિવારોને જામનગર નજીક આવેલા ચેલાગામમાં કાયમી જમીન આપવાની પ્રાથમિક તૈયારી કરી છે. તેમણે વિધીસર દરખાસ્ત અને અન્ય વિગતો તૈયાર કરવાની સૂચના અધિકારીઓને આપી. આવનારા સમયમાં આ બધા પોતાની જગ્યા પર રહેતા થઈ જશે. અમારા કાર્યકર ગુલામભાઈ આ બધાના કાગળિયા તૈયાર કરવામાં લાગ્યા છે.

દરેક ગામોમાંથી આવા જરૃરિયાતવાળા પરિવારોને શોધી તેમની તકલીફો સરકાર સુધી પહોંચતી કરવાનું કરીયે તો ક્યારેક તો એમના પ્રશ્નો ઉકલી જશે એ નક્કી..

સલાટ પરિવારની બહેનો શૃંગાર પ્રસાધનો વેચે. તેમાંથી એક બહેને VSSM પાસેથી લોન લઈને પોતાનો ધંધો પણ સરસ આગળ વધાર્યો. તે એને લઈને બીજા બહેનોએ પણ પોતાને લોન આપવા કહ્યું.

સાથે પાનસરમાં બંધાઈ રહેલી અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં પણ બાળકોને ભણવા લઈ જજોનું બધાયે કહ્યું. મજાના માયાળુ પરિવારો. આ બધાને અમારી સાથે જોડવામાં મનસુખભાઈ ખુબ સેવાભાવી વ્યક્તિ, એમનો ફાળો પણ મહત્વનો..

બસ ઝટ એમની વસાહતમાં જઈશું ને આ બધા  પરિવારો ઝટ પોતાના સરનામાં વાળા થાય તેવા પ્રયત્નો તો કરીશું ને સફળ પણ થઈશું એ નક્કી...
