“Ben, we shall not only plant trees, but also create a nursery for plants.  We already have a person assigned with the responsibility of raising and caring for the trees. . Along with the trees we will raise 400-500 saplings for the plantation drive next year. This way we can plant trees over the land where the  gando baval  rules these days. The village wasteland will transform to green from the arid it is right now.”

Bhanabhai, sarpanch of Makhanu village was quite confident that this shall happen, “ It is not easy to carry our development related tasks these days. But the entire Makhanu Panchayat will stand besides us. Our Panchayat team is extremely strong and determined and we have the cooperation of our members.”

Bhanabhai’s narration on the village dynamics is absolutely true. There are Sarpanch who would go beyond their responsibility to get the work done, they would also never hesitate to spend their own money towards public works  while there are others who can be extremely selfish too.  It was because of  the leadership of Makhanu that we could get two lakes deepened from the contribution of the villagers while the third one deepened with government support.

The village  collectively decided to appoint Narsinhbhai as the caretaker for the trees, from 15th May onwards he will start preparing the soil and plantation beds for the upcoming tree plantation drive.

Bhanabhai and others have agreed to take up the responsibility of monitoring and driving the effort.

'બેન આ ફેરા ઝાડખા વાવશું ઈની હારો હાર નર્સરીયે કરશું. ઝાડખાની હાચવણી હાતર મોણસ તો રાખેલો જ હ. આ ઝાડખા હારોહાર બહો પાંનસો રોપા ઉસરે તો આવતા ચોમાસે ગોમના ચરામાં થેલા બાવળિયા કાઢીન તો આ રોપા રોપીએ તો ઘણી લીલોતરી થઈ જાય...'

મખાણું ગામના સરપંચ ભાણાભાઈ આ કામ થશે એવા ભરોષા સાથે આ વાત કરી રહ્યા હતા..

એમણે કહ્યું,

'પંચાયતના બધા સભ્યો આપણા કોમમાં આપણી હારો હાર ઊભા રેસે. અમાર સભ્યોની ટીમ મજબૂત હ. સભ્યોના સાથ સહકાર ઘણો હ નકર ગોમમાં વિકાસના કોમો કરવા આજ હેલા નહીં.'

ભાણાભાઈની વાત સો ટકા સાચી. કેટલાક ગામોમાં સરપંચ બહુ ઉત્સાહી પોતાના ઘરના પૈસા કાઢીને કામ કરે એવા તો કેટલાક સખત સ્વાર્થી...

ખેર મખાણુંની આવી મજબૂત ટીમના લીધે અમે ગામમાં બે તળાવો ગ્રામજનો અને એક તળાવમાં સરકારની મદદ લઈને ઊંડા કરી શક્યા.

ગામના નરસીહભાઈને પંચાયતના તમામ સભ્યોએ મળીને ઝાડની જાળવણી માટે સેવક સહાય સાથે નિયુક્ત કર્યા.

આગામી 15મેથી જ્યાં ઝાડ વાવવાના છે તે જગ્યા ફરતે વાડ કરવાનું નરસીહભાઈ શરૃ કરશે.

ભાણાભાઈ અને પંચાયતના અન્ય સભ્યોએ આ ઝાડની દેખરેખની જવાબદારી સ્વીકારી.

ફોટોમાં જ્યાં પહેલા નામનું જ તળાવ હતું તે તળાવ જે અમે ઊંડું કર્યું...

તથા વનીકરણ માટે સજ્જ મખાણું સરપંચની આગેવાનીમાં પંતાયતની ટીમ, 

અશોકભાઈ તથા ઝાડની માવજત કરવાની જેમને જવાબદારી સોંપી છે તે નરસીંહકાકા.

Solar Light Distribution took place at Nomadic Settlerment of Rajkot with the Help of Sparsh

To eat before sunset is good for health. Jains call it Choviyar. 

Nomadic communities eat before sunset, not because of health reasons but when the sun goes down and takes his light along, the darkness prevails everywhere. How to cook without light in the dark? Those who have access to electricity can cook at 10 at night. But where kerosene is not affordable then, we have to cook and dine before darkness. 

The daily wager women come before their day work is over just for cooking, promising to complete the work next day. 

The nomadic settlement is either near the jungle area or in deserted land. In the night, there are poisonous insects wondering in the shanties and often bite them, but what can be done?  

Only the wearer can know where the shoe pinches- only these families know the dark side without light.

The demand for light connection under the different government schemes have been applied but what till then? Sparsh has initiated to become instrumental in lighting the little homes of these families and FunSolar also helped in this cause. 

Shri Maharshibhai came and with his help till date in Amreli and Rajkot total 700 solar lights have been distributed.

અંધારુ થાય એ પહેલાં જમી લેવાનું તબીયત માટે સારુ. જૈનો એને ચોવિયાર કહે.

વિચરતી જાતિઓ પણ અંધારા પહેલાં જમી લે. તબીયતની ચિંતાને લઈને નહીં પણ સૂરજદાદા પોતાનો પ્રકાશ સંકેલી ઘરે જતા રહે પછી ફેલાતા અંધકારમાં દિવા વગર રાંધવું કેમ? જેમના ઘરે વિજળી છે એ તો રાતના દસ વાગેય જમવાનું બનાવે પણ અમારે તો ઘાસતેલના વાંધા છે એટલે અંધારા પહેલાં રાંધવાનું ને જમવાનું.

કામ પર ગયેલી બહેનો કામ પુરુ ના થયું હોય તો કાલે કરી જઈશું એમ કહીને ખાલી રાંધવા માટે થઈ ઘરે વહેલી આવી જાય.. 

જંગલમાં કે અવાવરુ જગ્યાની પાસે છાપરાં હોય તે રાતના ઝેરી જીવજંતુઓ તો ઘરમાં ફરતા હોય ઘણીવાર કરડીયે જાય પણ શું કરે...

આવી સ્થિતિમાં જીવતા પરિવારોને ઘરમાં અજવાળુ ના હોવું એટલે શું એની વધુ ખબર પડે..

સરકાર લાઈટ આપે એ માટે અરજીઓ આપી છે. પણ એ ના આપે ત્યાં સુધી શું? સ્પર્શે આવા પરિવારોના ઘરમાં અજવાળુ પાથરવામાં નિમિત્ત બનવાનું સ્વીકાર્યું ને ફનસોલારે પણ મદદ કરી. 

મહર્ષીભાઈ આવ્યા ને એમની સાથે અમરેલી રાજકોટમાં મળીને અત્યાર સુધી કુલ 700 સોલાર લાઈટનું વિતરણ થયું.

Happy birthday to all the people of nomadic communities who was born on 1st June as per the government record. 

I wish to celebrate 1st June with a blast with everybody…

These thousands of people who wander around from place to place don’t have their birth registered nor they have birth certificate like we have…  Earlier when the woman gets labour pain, she used to give birth then and there. Taking that new-born in the basket, the new mother used to start with the Danga within two-three hours. They did not get the luxury of resting for a month or two like we do.

They don’t know where they were born then there is no question of the date they were born.  Even if they want to get it registered then in which panchayat they would get it registered? 
      

We are the trying that the birth should be registered. The ones whose births were not registered, we filled the forms for Voter Id for the first time and put some in the schools. The birth date was registered in government records assuming they their birth date as 1st June of the year. Apart from that the government officials also registered their birth on this date. So, our heartfelt wishes to all who were born on 1st June. Stay happy… May you achieve what you want.. And yes, get the births of your children registered…

Birthday means happiness and joy… Let’s all celebrate with Hemabhai’s Dafli and let’s dance like Haseena…

ગુજરાતી અનુવાદ

વિચરતી વિમુક્ત જાતિના ને સરકારી ચોપડે 1લી જુને જન્મેલા તમામ પ્રિયજનોને જન્મ દિવસની શુભેચ્છા...

મન તો છે એક વખત 1 લી જુને ભેગા થઈને જન્મ દિવસની ધામધૂમથી ઊજવણી કરીએ....

વગડે વગડે રઝળનાર આ સમુદાયના લાખો માણસોના જન્મની નોંધણી ક્યાંય થયેલી નહીં એટલે આપણી જેમ જન્મ તારીખનો દાખલનો ના હોય... પહેલાં જ્યાં વેણ ઉપડે ત્યાં જ પ્રસુતિ થતી ને પછી બાળકને ટોપલાંમાં લઈને બે – ત્રણ કલાક પછી મા ડંગા ભેગી ચાલતી થઈ જાય... આપણી જેમ સવા મહિનાનો ખાટલો એમના નસીબમાં નહોતો..

ક્યા ગામમાં જનમ્યા એ ખબર નહીં એમાં તારીખ તો ક્યાંથી યાદ હોય. વળી નોંધાવું હોય તોય કઈ પંચાયત નોંધે?

ખેર આજે તો કોશિશ કરીએ છીએ જન્મની નોંધણી થાય એની પણ જેમની નોંધણી નથી થઈ એવા હજારો વ્યક્તિ કે જેમના અમે મતદારકાર્ડ માટે પહેલીવાર ફોર્મ ભર્યા ને નિશાળમાં બેસાડ્યા એ બધાને અમે આજની તારીખે સરકારી ચોપડે જન્માવ્યા... એ સિવાય સરકારી અધિકારીઓએ પણ આજ તારીખે તેમનું પૃથ્વી પર અવતરણ કરાવ્યું એટલે સૌ પ્રિયજનો કે જેમનો 1 જુને જન્મદિવસ છે એ સૌને હૃદયથી શુભેચ્છાઓ.... ખુબ ખુશ રહો... આનંદ પામો ને ઈચ્છો એ બધુ મેળવો ને હા તમારા બાળકોની જન્મની નોંધણી તો ચોક્કસ કરાવજો...

જન્મદિવસ એટલે આનંદ અને હર્ષનો દિવસ ચાલો ઊજવણી હેમાભાઈની ડફલી સાથે હસીનાની જેમ આપણેય નાચીયે...

Gangaram Raval congregate at Palanpur MahaSamelan

Karamshibhai Raval’s son Gangram was born with severe birth defects. The severity of these defects is such that Gangaram cannot manage to finish any of his personal tasks on his own. Karamshibhai works as labourer to fend for the family. They tried really hard to see if Gangaram’s physical condition could improve for better but, the doctors had announced that Gangaram will not improve and he will need to be carried like a small child his entire life!!

Gangaram studied till 3rd standard at Khakhal #primary #school but, bringing him to and from school every-day was a challenge because the parents had to be on work also our society is a difficult place for such differently abled children to lead a normal life…. the inquisitiveness and pranks he was subjected to made Gangaram drop out of school.

Ironically, Gangaram had a sharp mind compared to his weak body and Karamshibhai always took pride in him. In the recent floods the wall of his mud house came down, he made numerous appeals to the government for some assistance but no help came his way. The determined soul that he is Gangaram asked his father to carry him all the way to Gandhinagar. The action made the authorities ashamed of themselves who sanctioned Rs. 7,000 as cash dole.

The family is very poor and makes cement blocks at a plant in Thara. Gangaram is of no help so he remains home and keeps playing with mobile phone. He often sends us proposals for financial assistance under the #Swavlamban #program. We plan to support him in starting his own small business and aid him in re-building his house.

“The #poor like us have no space in society, no one hears us neither is anyone interested in helping us out. This is the reason I have decided to participate in this convention and let everyone know ‘we also exist’” Since, his physical condition did not allow him visit everyone in person Gangaram, made a video asking people to participate in the convention and sent it on #whatsapp. He was amongst the first few to arrive early in the morning at the venue.

“Ben, we want to show the world, we also exist!!” said Rameshbhai #Vansfoda from Boratwala. And like Gangaram thousands congregated at Palanpur to be seen and noticed…”

કરમશીભાઈ #રાવળના ઘેર ગંગારામનો જન્મ થયો. જન્મથી જ શારીરિક રીતે #વિકલાંગ ગંગારામ પોતાનું એક પણ કામ જાતે ના કરી શકે. પિતા કરમશીભાઈ મજુરી કરે ને પરિવારનું પુરુ કરે. ગંગારામ ઠીક થાય તે માટે કોશીશેય ઘણી કરી પણ ડોકટરે કહી જ દીધેલું કે ગંગારામને આમ જ નાના છોકરાંની જેમ તેડીને જ આખી જીંદગી કાઢવાની છે ને કમરમશીભાઈએ આ વાત સ્વીકારી લીધી.

ધો.3 સુધી ગંગારામ ખાખલગામની નિશાળમાં ભણ્યો. પણ પછી લેવા મુકવા જવાનું રોજ કોણ કરે ને આપણી સમાજ વ્યવસ્થામાં આવા બાળકો હંમેશાં હાસ્ય કે કુતુહલનું પાત્ર બની રહે છે ગંગારામને અન્યોની નજર કોરી ખાતી એટલે એણે #નિશાળ જવાનું પડતુ મુક્યું.

શારિરીક અનેક ક્ષતીઓ સાથે જીવતા ગંગારામમાં હોંશિયારી ઘણી ને કરમશીભાઈને એનું ઘણું ગુમાન. 2017માં પુર આવ્યું ને ગંગારામના માટીથી ચણેલા ઘરનો અમુક ભાગ પડી ગયો. સરકાર દ્વારા કેસડોલ કે અન્ય મદદ ઘણી રજૂઆત છતાં ના મળી. કંટાળેલો ગંગારામ બાપાના હાથમાં બેસી ઠેઠ ગાંધીનગર સચિવાલયમાં પહોંચી ગયો. અધિકારીઓને શરમ આવી ને ગંગારામને સાત હજાર #કેસડોલ પેટે ચુકવ્યા.

પણ પરિવારની ગરીબાઈ ઘણી. થરામાં સીમેન્ટ બ્લોક પાડવાનું કામ આ પરિવાર કરે. ગંગારામથી કશી મદદ ના થાય એટલે ખાટલે બેસીને બસ બધુ જોયા કરે. #મોબાઈલ ઓપરેટ કરતા આવડે એટલે અમને ગરબડિયા અક્ષરોમાં ધંધા માટે લોન આપવાને અન્ય મદદ માટે લખ્યા કરે.

અમે લોન આપીશું ને ઘરને રીપેર કરવા મદદ પણ કરીશું. પણ ગંગારામનું કહેવું છે કે, ‘આપણા જેવા ગરીબોનું કોય હોભળતું નહીં, ન કોય ન આપણામોં રસ નહીં.’ એટલે ‘અમે પણ છીએ’ કહેવા માટે કરેલા સંમેલનમાં તે હોંશભેર આવ્યો. પોતાના સમાજને સંમેલનમાં આવવા જાતે જઈને સમજાવી શકે તેવી તેની હાલત નહોતી એટલે #વોટ્સઅપમાં ‘હુ પણ સંમેલનમાં જવાનો છુ તમે આવશો ને?’ એવા વિડિયો કરીને બધાને એણે મોકલ્યા. 14મી #ઓક્ટોબરે વહેલાસર આવીને એણે પોતાની જગ્યા રોકી લીધી..

‘બધોન દેખઈએ એવું જ કરવું સ બુની’ બોરતવાળાના રમેશભાઈ વાંસફોડાએ આ કહ્યું ને ગંગારામ જેવા અનેક સ્વજનો બધાને દેખાવવા પાલનપુરમાં ઉમટી પડ્યા.
