Benap, one of the remotest village of Banaskantha is a village of extremes. Extreme cold, extreme heat and acute water shortage are the norm in this village.

In 2019, Benap’s sarpanch Paragbhai had requested for bringing the tree plantation drive to their village. As a result, we planted trees around the village crematorium. We were a little concerned if they would be cared for, but the vrukshmitra has done an excellent job, and Paragbhai has efficiently supervised the entire effort. Three years later, we have a small woodland growing around the crematorium.

In 2021,  Paragbhai shared a desire to raise a second woodland. The humble community members from the village set aside 9 acres of land. The District Development Officer of Banaskantha helped us clean the space, dig pits for plant trees, and buy saplings. The village community and our dear Krishnakant Uncle and Dr Indira auntie supported to enable us to plant and raise  10,000 trees and create a woodland named Sanjeev Upvan.

It has been eight months since we planted the trees to create Sanjeev Upvan, the second woodland in Benap. The care and nurturing by tree caregiver  Sava Ba, Sarpanch Paragbhai, the proactive youth of Benap and VSSM’s Bhagwan have all helped create a beautiful and calming woodland. The height of the trees has surprised us as well. At one point, we were uncertain if the trees would take roots in this harsh and arid land, but looking at the healthy and happy trees, we are sure of a thriving woodland coming up. The goodwill of all who have supported it has helped create wonders.

A site filled with the notorious gando-baval, Sanjeev Upvan is a sight to behold. Guava, Jamun, Neem, Gulmohar, Peepul, Indian Fig tree, Saru, Peltaform trees sway in joy as if they are eagerly waiting for their inhabitants to arrive.

We have created a small woodland and offered it to Mother Earth, and I wish you spare some resources to develop such forests in your village. A forest that will be home to thousands of living beings. If we can create such woodlands in the rain-starved Banaskantha, the Rain Gods will be compelled to bless the region. So let us all commit to raising Vruksh Mandir in every village.

વૃક્ષમંદિર નિર્માણ..

બનાસકાંઠાનું છેવાડ આવેલું ગામ બેણપ. ટાઢ અને તડકો બેય તોબા પોકારી દે એવા અહીં પડે. પાણીની અછતવાળો વિસ્તાર. ગામમાં વૃક્ષો ઉછેરવા સરપંચ પરાગભાઈએ અમને 2019માં કહેણ મોકલ્યું ને અમે સ્મશાનમાં વૃક્ષો વાવ્યા. જો કે શંકા નહીં ઉછરેની હતી પણ વૃક્ષમિત્રની મહેનત ને સરપંચની દેખરેખના લીધે સૂકા વિસ્તારમાં નાનકડુ વન ઊભુ થઈ ગયું. 

પછી તો હિંમત આવી. 2021માં પરાગભાઈને બીજુ એક વન ઊભુ કરવા જગ્યા આપવા કહ્યું ને ગામના સજ્જન માણસોએ હોંશે હોંશે 9 એકરથી વધુ જગ્યા આપી. બનાસકાંઠાના જિલ્લા વિકાસ અધિકારીએ જગ્યાની સફાઈ, વૃક્ષો વાવવા ખાડા કરવામાં મદદ કરી. ઘણા વૃક્ષો પણ ખરીદીને આપ્યા. બાકીની મદદ ગ્રામજનો ને અમારા પ્રિય ક્રિષ્ણકાંત મહેતા નેેે ડો.ઈન્દીરા મહેતાએ કરી ને સરસ મજાનું સંજીવ ઉપવન ઊભુ થયું જ્યાં 10,000 વૃક્ષો લહેરાઈ રહ્યા છે. ગામમાં અમે ઊભુ કરેેલું આ બીજુ ઉપવન એમાં વૃક્ષ વાવે આઠ મહિના થયા છે પણ અમારા વૃક્ષમિત્ર સવા બા સરપંચ પરાગભાઈ ને ગામના અન્ય ઉત્સાહી યુવાનોની સક્રિયતા ઘણી વળી અમારા કાર્યકર ભગવાનની પણ દેખરેખ એટલે વૃક્ષો સારી રીતે ઉછરી રહ્યા છે. 

વૃક્ષોની ઊંચાઈ પણ નવાઈ લાગે તેવી.. આ વિસ્તાર જે રીતનો એ જોતા આવું સરસ વન ઊભુ થશે એની શંકા  હતી પણ થઈ ગયું. કદાચ મદદ કરનાર સૌનો પુણ્યભાવ પણ કામે લાગ્યો.

જામફળ,જાંબુ, કાશીદ, લીમડો, ગુલમહોર, પીપળ, સરૃ, ઉમરો વગેરે જેવા વૃક્ષો સંજીવ ઉપવનમાં લહેરાઈ રહ્યા છે. એક વખત આ જગ્યા ગાંડાબાવળથી ભરેલી હતી. ત્યાં હવે જાતજાતના ફૂલ ફળવાળા વૃક્ષો ઉગ્યા છે. આ વૃક્ષો મોટા થશે ને હજારો જીવોનું આ ઘર બનશે.. 

બેણપ ગામે નાનકડુ જંગલ બનાવીને મા ધરતીનેે આપવાનું કર્યું. તમે પણ તમારા ગામમાં એક નાનકડુ જંગલ - ભગવાનના ભાગરૃપે કાઢો તેવું ઈચ્છુ જ્યાં અબોલ જીવો કોઈ ભય વગર રહી શકે.  ગાઢ જંગલ 10000 થી 15000 વૃક્ષોનું ગામે ગામ થશે તો ઓછા વરસાદવાળા બનાસકાંઠામાં ભગવાને વરસવા મજબૂર થવું પડશે એ નક્કી તો ચાલો ગામે ગામ વૃક્ષમંદિરોનું નિર્માણ કરીએ...

Ramjibhai shared how they tackled the onslaught of covid's
devastating second wave with Mittal Patel

Bharkawada is one unique village that did not register a single hospitalization or death during the Covid second wave.

While rarely has a village escaped the onslaught of Covid's  second wave, this narration by Ramjibhai of Bharakwada astounded me. Bharkawada had 3-4 cases and the infected recovered well. How did no one require hospitalization? 

“The village youth took up the responsibility of sensitizing individuals who were hesitating to take the vaccine. We also took advantage of our village WhatsApp group to share information on the benefits of vaccination,how vaccinated people escaped with minor symptoms etc. In short, vaccination saved them from facing severe consequences of the second wave. Apart from this the ones who were still awaiting vaccination took good care of themselves.” Ramjibhai shared how they tackled the onslaught of covid’s devastating second wave. 

There are many misconceptions making waves about the side effects of the vaccine. Many told me how they ran to the fields when the vaccination team visited their homes.

‘Infact, vaccination saved us, just like the polio eradication campaign, the 2 drops that have made polio cases almost non-existent, similar has to happen with Covid-19” shares Ramjibhai. 

Bharkawada is a village with a population of 2200 to 2500 people. VSSM is undertaking tree plantation drive in the village with the assistance of Rosy Blue (India) Pvt. Ltd. The village youth has been enshrined the responsibility of undertaking plantation drive. Apart from the crematorium,  VSSM plans to plant trees on either side of the lane leading from Palanpur Highway to the village’s main entrance. This would provide the much needed green shade to those walking into the village. 

Hope like Bharkawada other villages too wake up to the needs of current times…. 

 ભરકાવાડા એક એવું ગામ જ્યાં કોરોનાની બીજી લહેરમાં એક પણ વ્યક્તિનું મૃત્યુ નથી થયું ના કોઈને હોસ્પીટલમાં દાખલ થવું પડ્યું.

ગામના રામજીભાઈની વાત સાંભળી નવાઈ લાગી.. મૂળ કોરોનાની બીજી લહેરમાં ભાગ્યેજ કોઈ ગામ #કોરોના મુક્ત રહ્યું હશે. ત્યારે #ભરકાડાવાડામાં બે પાંચ લોકોને ખાલી કોરોનાના લક્ષણો દેખાયા વળી એ લોકો ઘરે જ સાજા થયા. હોસ્પીટલના દ્વારે કોઈને જવું જ ન પડ્યું. આવું કેવી રીતે થયું?

રામજીભાઈએ કહ્યું, 'કોરોનાની રસી માટે ગામમાં યુવાનો જે લોકો રસી ન લે એને ઘરે જઈને સમજાવીએ. અમારા ગામનું વોટ્સએપ ગ્રુપ ચાલે એમાં અમે રસીકરણના ફાયદા જેમને રસી લીધી હોય તેમને કોઈ નુકશાન નથી થયું વગેરે વાતો મુકીએ એના પ્રતાપે સૌને હિંમત આવી. આ રસીકરણે એમને બચાવ્યા. આ સિવાય રસી માટે જેમનો વારો નહોતો આવ્યો તેમણે પોતાની કાળજી બરાબર કરી'

રસીને લઈને કેટલી ગેરમાન્યતા લોકોમાં ફેલાયેલી છે. ઘણા લોકોએ કહેલું કે, બેન રસી વાળા આવે એટલે અમે ખેતરમાં ભાગી જઈએ. રસી લઈએ તો મરી જઈએ.. આ થાય ફલાણું થાય... 

પણ રામજીભાઈ કહે, 'રસી લઈએ તો જીવી જવાય. જેમ #પોલીયો નાબુદ કરવા બાળકોને રસીના બે ટીપા પીવડાવાય ને એના લીધે પોલીયોના કેસ હવે ક્યાંય જોવા નથી મળતા બસ આવું કોરોનાનું છે'

ભરકાવાડા 2200 થી 2500ની વસતિવાળુ જાગૃત ગામ..અમે આ ગામના સ્મશાનમાં રોઝી બ્લુ (ઈન્ડિયા) પ્રા.લી.ની મદદથી વૃક્ષો વાવના છીએ.. ગામના નિવૃત ફોરેસ્ટ અધિકારી આ વૃક્ષોની માવજતની જવાબદારી યુવાનોની ટીમ સાથે નિભાવાના છે..અમે સ્મશાન સિવાય #પાલનપુર હાઈવેથી ગામમાં પ્રવેશવાના રસ્તેથી છેક ગામ સુધી વૃક્ષો વાવવાનું આયોજન પણ કર્યું છે. જેથી રાહદારી રસ્તો લીલોછમ બને..

ભરકાવાડાની જેમ અન્ય ગામો પણ જાગૃત થાય એમ ઈચ્છીએ..

Mittal Patel meets Amrabapa when he visited Golvi village

I happen to meet Amraa Bapa when I was at Banaskantha’s Golvi village recently. The clothes he adorned gave a glimpse into his love for greens and the care he takes for the planted trees. “You will have to come home today,” he insisted. His sons have decent jobs, are settled well. They also are into dairy farming.

“Everyone in the family asks me to leave all this and rest,  I have lived and worked for myself and my family. This is for others, for the greater good. Now I need to create a bank balance that will talk of my good deeds when I meet the Almighty. And the joy this work  brings is priceless.”

In 2019, on the insistence of its Sarpanch Dashrathbhai and tree-loving elder Dharmabhai we planted 1000 trees around its cricket ground. Amraabapa and Dhramabhai nurtured and raised the trees well.

“If I had a room here, I will not need to go home. Just live here with these beautiful souls (trees) and care for them!”

Every village needs individuals like Amraabapa, Dharmabhai and leaders like Dashrathbhai who do everything in their power to ensure the village and its future generations benefit. Dashrathbhai not only spared land for plantation but also created irrigation facility for the trees. VSSM just supports Vriksh Mitra remuneration and pesticides when needed, rest it is the village’s responsibility to ensure the trees are well looked after.

It always brings immense joy and zeal when people join in the efforts and the efforts payoff so well.

We are grateful to all our well-wishers who have supported this cause.

The plan is to plant 1 lac trees this monsoon. Waiting for the villages to come forward with positivity and consent.

બનાસકાંઠાનું ગોલવી..

હમણાં ગોલવી ગઈ ત્યારે અમરા બાપા મળ્યા. મેલાં ઘેલાં કપડાંમાં વૃક્ષોની ખરા મનથી એ ચાકરી કરે. મને કહે, 'આજે તો તમારે મારા ઘરે આવવું જ પડશે..' 

એમના દીકરા સરસ જગ્યા એ નોકરી કરે. ઘરે દૂધાળાં ઢોર પણ ઘણા.

બાપા કહે, 'મારા છોકરાં ને ઘરના બધા ના પાડે કે હવે મૂકો આ બધુ. પણ બેન હું તો પરમાર્થ માટે આ કરુ. પોતા માટે તો અત્યાર સુધી ઘણું જીવ્યા, ઘણું ભેગુંયે કર્યું પણ હવે વારો છે ઉપર જઈએ ત્યારે બતાવવાના બેંક બેલેન્સ ભેગું કરવાનો... અને આમાં જે આનંદ છે એનું કોઈ મુલ્ય નથી..'

કાકાએ સંસારનું સાચુ જ્ઞાન પ્રાપ્ત કર્યું હતું. 

ગોલવીમાં 2019માં અમે ગામના સરપંચ અને વૃક્ષપ્રેમી ધરમાભાઈના આગ્રહને કારણે વૃક્ષારોપણ કરેલું. ક્રિક્ટના મેદાનની ફરતે 1000 ઉપરાંત વૃક્ષો વાવ્યા ને ધર્માભાઈ ને અમરાબાપાના જતનથીએ વૃક્ષો સરસ ઉછર્યા. 

બાપા કહે, 'બેન તમે અહીંયા જ એક રૃમ બનાવી દ્યો ને તો મારે ઘેરેય શું કામ જવું. બસ કુદરતની વચ્ચે રહેવું અને આ જીવો(વૃક્ષો)ને સાચવવાના'

દરેક ગામોમાં આવા વૃક્ષપ્રેમી અમરાબાપા ને ધર્માભાઈની જરૃર છે. સાથે દશરથભાઈ જેવા સરપંચની પણ જેઓ વૃક્ષારોપણ માટે જગ્યાની સાથે સાથે પાણીની સગવડ ને તાર ફ્રેન્સીંગની વાડ કરી આપે. 

અમે તો વૃક્ષમિત્રને તેમણે કરેલી વૃક્ષોની માવજતની સેવક સહાય , વૃક્ષો ને વૃક્ષોને જરૃરી દવા પૂરી પાડીએ. બાકી મુખ્ય જવાબદારી તો એમની જ.. સૌના સહિયારા પ્રયાસો રંગ લાવતા દેખાય ત્યારે કાર્ય કરવાનો ઉત્સાહ બમણો થઈ જાય.. 

આ કાર્યમાં સાથે આવેલા અને મદદ કરનાર સૌ પ્રિયજનોનો આભાર.. 

આ જુનમાં 1 લાખ વૃક્ષ કરવા છે. ગામ સામેથી તૈયાર થાય એની રાહ છે બસ...

Banaskantha’s Mudetha, a village drenched in the bhakti and spiritual activities promoted by Swadhyay Pariwar. It was not difficult to make them understand the value of tree around us. They live the phrase, ‘Chod ma Ranchod’/ God exists in trees and nature around us. As part of their Swadhyay endeavour, they already have a forest growing around their village boundary.

In 2019-20, awed by the village’s dedication towards raising trees, we proposed community-supported tree plantation drive in the village. The leadership agreed and we planted 650 trees around the village crematorium,  592 have already taken roots.

Village elders like Nathakaka regularly visit the plantation site to ensure that the trees are cared and nurtured well.

“On my way to the crematorium.” Kaka jokes when people ask him where is he headed to. Kaka makes daily rounds of the plantation site at the crematorium to supervise the plantation site.

VSSM pays remuneration to Vruksh Mitra so that he performs his job responsibly. A Vruksh Mitra has been appointed at Mudetha as well.

We have planned a massive plantation drive at Banaskantha in June and July 2021. The plan is to plant 1 lac trees. This is a task which requires community participation.

બનાસકાંઠાનું #મુડેઠા..

પાંડુરંગદાદાએ શરૃ કરેલી સ્વાધ્યાય પ્રવૃતિથી રંગાયેલું ગામ.. છોડમાં રણછોડ એ વાત ગામમાં કોઈને શીખવવી ન પડે. સ્વાધ્યાય પ્રવૃતિથી પ્રેરાઈને ગામલોકોએ પોતાની મેળે પણ એક વન ઊભુ કર્યું. 

ગામના સૌની વૃક્ષોના જતનની લગનને જોઈને એક જગ્યાએ ગામની ભાગીદારીથી વૃક્ષારોપણ કરવાની વાત અમે 2019 - 20માં ગામના સરપંચ સમક્ષ કરી અને ગામના સ્મશાનમાં અમે 650 જેટલાં વૃક્ષો વાવ્યા. જેમાંથી 592 વૃક્ષો સરસ થઈ ગયા.

ગામના નાથાકાકા જેવા વડિલો નિયમીત સ્મશાનની મુલાકાત લે અને ઝાડની માવજત બરાબર થઈ રહી છે કે નહીં તે પણ તપાસે. કાકા કહે, 

'હું ગામમાંથી નીકળતો હોવું ત્યારે ક્યારેક લોકો પુછે કે કાકા ચો હેંડ્યા ત્યારે હું કહેતો હોવું છું, મહોણિયે..' કાકા આટલું કહી હસ્યા ને પછી કહ્યું, '

આમ તો બધાએ છેવટે તો અહીંયા જ આવવાનું છે ને... ' 

અમે વૃક્ષમિત્ર વાવેલા ઝાડના જતન માટે રાખ્યા છે. જેમને માસીક સેવક સહાય આપીએ. જેથી એ ચોક્કસાઈ રાખી ઝાડને સાચવે. 

ફોટોમાં મુડેઠાના સ્મશાનમાં થયેલા વૃક્ષો અને આ વૃક્ષોના હાલચાલ પુછવા નિયમીત સ્મશાનની મુલાકાત લેનાર વડિલો.. 

2021ના જુન, જુલાઈ મહિનામાં #બનાસકાંઠામાં 1 લાખ ઝાડ વાવવાનું આયોજન છે. પણ ગામની ભાગીદારી આ માટે જરૃરી. 

સ્વાર્થ મુકીને પરમાર્થના આ કાર્ય માટે સૌ આગળ આવે એવી ભાવના...

 Banaskantha’s Makhanu, my favourite village.

With an extremely  progressive Sarpanch  Bhanabhai at its realm, the village is in good hands.

The trees planted near its crematorium  have gained roots, almost 1200 of them. Narsinhbhai, the Vriksh Mitr has nurtured them well.

The care and protection the trees received prompted us to request Bhanabhai for another spot to carry out some more plantation, which he did with the support and approval from the village. 3000 trees were planted at the new spot and 2918 have taken roots.  The villagers contributed towards site cleaning, fencing and watering of the plants.

Not all villages are so supportive. Of course, if they would be doing it on their own, we would not be required. I firmly believe that if each household makes an annual contribution of Rs. 500 to 1000 for the development of their village, no government support to aid  lake deepening or tree plantation would be required.

The community at Makhnu has proved this belief to be true. It was their support that has bloomed in form of the trees. Our responsibility is to provide trees, organic pesticides and manure  if required, monthly remuneration of the Vriksh Mitr. The Vashi Foundation has supported us towards the mentioned expenses. Gratitude to Makhanu community and Vashi Foundation for their proactiveness that has resulted into such wonderful work.

We hope Makhanu community will also help identify plantation spots for 2021 where we can plant 5000 trees.

Yes it was the Sarpanch and zealous villagers who made this all possible but the support  Darghabhai and Ashokbhai  have been to the Sarpanch has helped him  accomplish this plantation drive.

We were at Makhanu to monitor the plantation efforts. Darghabhai fed us with lot of love. Our team members Naranbhai and Ishwarbhai have been the force behind these efforts. They identified the villages well.

The benefits of trees need to understood not just studied in the school. It is time village heads wake-up to the need of planting trees. And wake-up soon.

મને ગમતુ ગામ..સરપંચ ભાણાભાઈની ગામના વિકાસ માટેની લાગણી જબરી...

2019માં ગામની સ્મશાનભૂમીમાં વાવેલા વૃક્ષોમાંથી 1200 જેટલા સરસ થઈ ગયા છે.  વૃક્ષમિત્ર નરસીંહભાઈએ વૃક્ષોને સરસ સાચવ્યા.ગામની વૃક્ષો માટેની મમતા જોઈને અમે ભાણાભાઈને બીજી એક જગ્યા પસંદ કરી આપવા કહ્યું. ને ગામની સહમતી અને મદદથી એમણે સરસ જગ્યા શોધી આપી. જ્યાં 3000 વૃક્ષો અમે વાવ્યા. જેમાંથી 2918 ઉછરી રહ્યા છે.આ જગ્યાની સફાઈ, જગ્યા ફરતે કરવાની વાડ, પાણીની વ્યવસ્થા આ બધા માટે ગામના સૌએ માતબર ફાળો કર્યો. 

દરેક ગામ આવું નથી કરતું. જો કરત તો અમારા જેવાની જરૃર જ ન પડત. 500  કે 1000 રૃપિયા વાર્ષિક ગામના વિકાસ માટે ઘર દીઠ કાઢવામાં આવે તો પણ ગામના તળાવ ખોદવા કે વૃક્ષો વાવવા સરકાર કે કોઈની ખરેખર જરૃર ન પડે.. આ મારુ દૃઢ પણે માનવું છું...

ખેર મખાણુના નાગરિકોએ સહભાગીતાથી આ કરી બતાવ્યું એટલે ત્યાં આટલા સરસ વૃક્ષો વાવી શકાયા. અમારી જવાબદારી વૃક્ષોની ખરીદીની તેમજ વૃક્ષોની માવજત માટે રાખેલા વૃક્ષમિત્રને માસીક મહેનતાણુ આપવાની તેમજ જરૃર પડે ઝાડ માટે ખાતર, દવા લાવી આપવાની. 

આ માટે અમને મદદ કરી વાશી ફાઉન્ડેશને.. ગામ અને વાશી ફાઉન્ડેશનના અમે આભારી છીએ.. 

આપ બેઉંની સક્રિયતાથી આ કાર્ય થઈ શક્યું. 

અમને આશા છે, મખાણુ વાસીઓ જુન 2021 માટે પણ પોતાના ગામની એક બીજી જગ્યા શોધી આપશે જ્યાં 5000 ઝાડ વાવી શકાય.. આમ તો આ કાર્યમાં ઉત્સાહી સરપંચ સાથે ગામના સૌ જોડાયા પણ ગામના દરઘાભાઈ અને અશોકભાઈ સરપંચ સાથે ખડે પગે રહ્યા એટલે આ કાર્ય થઈ શક્યું.  

મખાણું વૃક્ષારોપણ સાઈટ જોવા જવાનું થયું એ વેળા દરઘાભાઈએ તો બહુ પ્રેમથી અમને સૌને જમાડ્યા પણ ખરા.. 

અમારા કાર્યકર નારણભાઈ, ઈશ્વરભાઈની મહેનત પણ જબરી. ગામને શોધવા એમને આ કાર્યો માટે તૈયાર કરવાનું એમણે સરસ કર્યું..

વૃક્ષના ફાયદા લખવાના નહોય આપણે સૌ એના ફાયદા જાણીએ જ છીએ...બસ વખત થઈ ગયો છે દરેક ગામે જાગવાનો... અને એ ઝટ જાગે એમ ઈચ્છીએ...

The community participation helped us take the tree plantation drive forward Kankrej’s Shiyagaum where we planted 2000 trees in and around the cemetery. Participatory tree plantation program requires commitment from the community to identify a spot, make water arrangements, protection fence while VSSM clears the space, brings the saplings and pays monthly remuneration to Vriksh Mitra/tree caretaker.

The community of Shiyagaum is very proactive and volunteered to take up the responsibility. The very active Abbasbhai, Shefuddinbhai and other youth managed to raise 1982 trees in 4 months, with just 18 trees dying.

They also spent around Rs. 1 lakh to house the Vriksh Mitra near the site. One look around the area the trees have been planted one gets a sense that they are well maintained and looked after.

“Plant trees to bring rains…” a slogan we have heard growing up needs to come to life in Banaskantha, a region that remains rain starved. In 2019 we initiated tree plantation drive in villages of Banaskantha, with plantation happening at 22 sites.

Along with the Vriksh Mitra,  VSSM team members also work round the clock to ensure the saplings take roots, they don’t get infected with pests, provide manure, maintain a tree count, rebuke the vriksh mitra where required. The VSSM team members Naranbhai, Ishwarbhai, Bhagwanbhai are on a constant move.

During the monsoon of 2021, we plan to plant 1 lakh trees in rural Banaskantha,  provided the village communities are prepared to their bit and share the responsibility.

Trees are our lifeline, they take care of us, they make earth look beautiful. Hope people sign up for this task of making our rath look beautiful.

કાંકરેજનું શિયાગામ..

ગામના કબ્રસ્તાનમાં અમે 2000 વૃક્ષો ગામના સહયોગથી વાવ્યા. આમ તો વૃક્ષો વાવવા માટે અમારી કેટલીક શરતો જેમાંની મુખ્યત્વે વૃક્ષો ઉછેરવા જગ્યા, એની ફરતે કાંટાળી વાડ અને પાણીની વ્યવસ્થા ગામલોકોએ કરી આપવાની. 

અમારા ભાગે વૃક્ષો લાવવાનું, જગ્યાની સફાઈ ને વૃક્ષોનું જતન કરનાર વૃક્ષોની મા કે મિત્રને માસીક સેવક સહાય આપવાનું.શિયાના જાગૃત બિરાદરોએ આ જવાબદારી સ્વીકારી એટલે જ અમે ત્યાં વૃક્ષો વાવ્યા. 

અમને સતત ચિંતા આ વૃક્ષોના ઉછેરની હોય. પણ વૃક્ષમિત્ર અબ્બાસભાઈ બહુ સક્રિય ને એમને સહયોગ શેફુદ્દીનભાઈ અને અન્ય સ્વજનોનો એટલે ચાર મહિનામાં ફક્ત 18 વૃક્ષ બળ્યા બાકી 1982 હયાત. 

વૃક્ષમિત્ર વૃક્ષારોપણ કરેલી જગ્યા પર રહી શકે તે માટે એકાદ લાખના ખર્ચે નાનકડુ ઘર પણ કબ્રસ્તાનમાં જ બનાવી દેવામાં આવ્યું. વૃક્ષારોપણ કરેલી જગ્યા જોઈને સરસ માવજત કરી છે એવું આપોઆપ બોલાઈ જાય. 

બનાસકાંઠામાં વરસાદનું પ્રમાણ ઓછુ.. નિશાળમાં ખુબ ભણ્યા, વૃક્ષ વાવો વરસાદ લાવો. આ વાક્ય અમલી બનાવવાનું અમે 2019થી શરૃ કર્યું ને શિયા જેવા અન્ય ગામોમાં મળીને કુલ 22 સાઈટ પર વૃક્ષારોપણ કર્યું. 

વૃક્ષમિત્રની સાથે સાથે અમારા કાર્યકરો નારણભાઈ, ઈશ્વરભાઈ, ભગવાનભાઈની પણ સખત મહેનત. 

દર મહિને ઝાડની ગણતરી, વૃક્ષમિત્રની મહેનત નબળી દેખાય ત્યાં ટકોર, ઝાડને રોગ લાગુ ન પડે તે માટે જરૃરી દવા, ખાતર.. કાંઈ કેટલુંયે ધ્યાન રાખવા એ સતત ફરતાં રહે...

2021 ના ચોમાસે 1 લાખ ઝાડ વાવવાનું આયોજન છે.. ગ્રામજનો જાગે ને ભાગીદારી સાથે આ કાર્ય કરવા તૈયાર થાય ત્યાં આ કરવું છે... 

ઝાડ એ આપણી ધરતી માનો શણગાર છે. દરેક ગામ ધરતીમાના શણગાર માટે સજ્જ થાય એવી આશા...

The much respected and revered Shri Pandurangdada had undertaken the mammoth task of nurturing Trees as God through Vruksha Mandir/ the idea of seeing God resides in Nature and more so in Trees (Vruksha).

VSSM has also launched itself in the same direction.

The is a village called Geda in Banaskantha where pilgrims throng in huge numbers to worship Hanumandada, the resident deity. Just next to the temple is a Goushala. One needs to see for self and understand how well they care for the cows here.

VSSM in partnership with the patrons of Goushala,undertook a  tree plantation drive at a vacant plot adjacent to the Goushala. The volunteers at Goushala prepared the barbed wire fence for protecting the trees while the village made arrangements for drip-irrigation for the trees.

Unfortunate the long dry spell after plantation impaired some sapling from taking roots. The team approached us for new saplings.  Karshanbhai the Vruksha-Mitra was of the feeling that if he is appointed to look after a certain number of trees,  then that number should be complete. 

This year we have decided to award Rs. 51,000 to the Vruksha Mitra who manages to nurture and raise the maximum number of trees planted during this year. The award will be given at the end of the year. Subabhai, who volunteers at Geda Goushala was quick to respond, "this prize is ours for sure!!"

The well-wishing volunteers of Goushala have made a small pond near the area plantation has been carried out so that they can capture all the water that falls around Goushala.  It is a beautiful symbiotic facility the well-wishing individuals of Goushala have created. If each village of Banaskantha showed such proactiveness like Geda village, Banaskantha would be green once again. The tree-covered earth would compel the rain gods to bless them every year. We must create such favourable conditions, it is our duty to do so.

The groundwaters at most regions are depleting at an alarming rate, irrigation has not reached these regions yet. Let us remain diligent and continue our efforts, doing what is within our means.

VSSM's  Naranbhai and  Ishwarbhai's constant efforts and hard work is bringing success to this campaign.

પાંડુરંગદાદાએ વૃક્ષમંદિરો ઊભા કરવાનું ભગીરથ કાર્ય આરંભ્યું.

અમે પણ એ દિશામાં રતીભાર આગળ વધવાનું કર્યું..

બનાસકાંઠાનું ગેળાગામ જ્યાં હનુમાનદાદાના દર્શને દુર દુરથી લોકો આવે..

દાદાની નિશ્રામાં બજરંગ ગૌશાળા ચાલે.. આ ગૌશાળાની ગાયો જોઈને ગાયની કેવી ચાકરી થાય એનો અંદાજ આવે..

ગૌશાળાની એક વિશાળ જગ્યામાં વૃક્ષો વાવવાનું આયોજન ગૌશાળા સાથે સંકળાયેલા સૌ પ્રિયજનોએ કર્યું અને અમે એમાં ભાગીદાર બન્યા.

ગૌશાળાએ જમીન ઉપરાંત તારની વાડ, ઝાડને પાણી આપવા માટે ટપક પદ્ધતિની વ્યવસ્થા ગામે ગોઠવી..

અમે 3000 વૃક્ષો વાવ્યા અને વૃક્ષમિત્ર જે વૃક્ષોને ઉછેરે, સાચવે એમને માસીક સેવક સહાય આપવાનું કરીએ... વચમાં વરસાદ પડ્યો ને થોડા વૃક્ષો બળ્યા તો એમણે સામે ચાલીને નવા માંગ્યા. મૂળ 3000 તો થવા જ જોઈએ એવી ભાવના વૃક્ષમિત્ર કરશનભાઈની..

અમે આ વર્ષે જે જગ્યાઓ પર વૃક્ષો કર્યા તેમાંથી વર્ષના અંતે જ્યાં સૌથી સારા વૃક્ષો થયા હશે તે વૃક્ષ મિત્રને તેમની મહેનત માટે 51,000નો પુરસ્કાર આપવાનું નક્કી કર્યું. ગેળાની ગૌશાળામાં સેવા આપતા સુબાભાઈએ આ સાંભળ્યું કે તુરત એમણે કહ્યું એ ઈનામ તો અમારુ જ..

વૃક્ષો જ્યાં ઉછેરી રહ્યા છે એ જગ્યા પર એક સુંદર નાનકડી તલાવડી પણ ગૌશાળા સાથે સંક્ળાયેલા સ્નેહીજનોએ કરી છે. પેલી કહેવત ગામનું પાણી ગામમાં ને સીમનું પાણી સીમમાં. એમ ગૌશાળાનું પાણી ગૌશાળાના આ તળાવમાં જાય..

એકદમ સુંદર અને સુઘડ વ્યવસ્થા ગૌશાળા સાથે સંકળાયેલા સ્નેહીજનોએ કરી છે.

વૃક્ષો માટે આટલો પ્રેમ દરેક ગામ દાખવે તો બનાસકાંઠો સુકો ન રહે..

વરસાદને પણ ધરતી મા પર પથરાયેલી લીલી ચાદર જોઈને વરસવા મજબૂર થવું પડે.. આ સ્થિતિ નિર્માણ થાય એ માટે સૌ કટીબદ્ધ થાય એ જરૃરી..

બાકી ઘણા વિસ્તારના તળ ખાલી થઈ રહ્યા છે.. અને કેનાલ ત્યાં પહોંચી નથી.. આમ આપણા હાથમાં જે છે એ કાર્ય થકી આપણી ધરતીને લીલુડી રાખવાનું કરીએ..

અમારા કાર્યકર નારણભાઈ, ઈશ્વરભાઈની સતત મહેનત અને દોડાદોડીના લીધે આ અભીયાન સફળ થઈ રહ્યુંછે..
