લગભગ ચારેક વર્ષની મહેનત પછી લખાયેલું. પાણી મફત મળે અને જેટલું જોઈએ એટલે એની કિંમત નહીં. પણ આ પાણીની અછત સર્જાય ત્યારે આપણે સચેત થઈ.. એક રીતે આખી દુનિયાએ જળ બાબતે સચેત થવાની જરૃર છે. જળ ખૂટ્યા પુસ્તકમાં આંખો ખોલે એવી વાતો. આપણા ઘૈડીયાઓની દુરંદેશીની વાતો તેમજ નેધરલેન્ડ જેવો દેશ જ્યાં પાણી મબલત છતાં ટીપે ટીપાને બચાવવા એ કેવી જેહમત કરે. ઉત્તર ગુજરાતમાં જળ કેમ ખૂટ્યા ને સૌરાષ્ટ્રમાં ને અન્ય રાજ્યોમાં જળ બચાવવા કેવા પ્રયત્નો થયા.

મહારાષ્ટ્રના વિદર્ભમાં ખેડૂતો આત્મહત્યા કરવા કેમ પ્રેરાયા વગેરે આંખો ખોલનારી વાતો.

“This bed has never been empty…”

The moment one hears these words of Pravinbhai, the heart feels heavy.

Since childhood—first his father, then his mother, then his elder sister, then his younger sister… and even today, one sister is still confined to the bed.

Whoever lies on that bed, the entire responsibility falls on Pravinbhai’s shoulders. From helping with toileting to taking care of every daily need, everything is done by his own hands.

We asked him, “Don’t you ever complain about this life?”

Pravinbhai calmly replied, “Complain about what? Can you abandon your own? One has to fulfill what is written in one’s fate, isn’t it?”

Seeing Pravinbhai’s condition in Samedra village of Banaskantha, our hearts ached.

In the entire household, Pravinbhai is the only one blessed with understanding and a sense of responsibility. The rest of the brothers and sisters are mentally challenged.

Why did this happen? Pravinbhai has no answer. But the neighbours say, “At birth, they were all perfectly fine, but over the years, their mental condition slowly deteriorated.”

It feels as though God has given Pravinbhai a special strength for service. He cannot go out to work, as he has to take care of so many people at home. Yet he has not lost courage. Since he knows how to use a sewing machine, he stitches torn clothes for villagers.

For food, they receive ration kits from VSSM. In addition, a kind-hearted man from Palanpur also provides ration kits. With this help, meals are prepared at home.

From the ₹3,000 received from the government for three persons with disabilities, expenses such as medicines, milk, and vegetables are somehow managed.

Pravinbhai says, “When we receive ration, I can peacefully take care of everyone. Otherwise, it becomes very difficult.”

Truly, in today’s times, Pravinbhai is like Shravan as a son and like Lakshman as a brother.

He has never abandoned his parents and siblings, even while living in extreme hardship.

He carries his duty not as a burden, but as a sacred responsibility.

We are grateful that we could provide some comfort to this family through ration support.

May God always keep His hand over Pravinbhai’s head—this is our prayer, and we find contentment in being a small instrument in this service.

“આ ખાટલો ક્યારેય ખાલી નથી થયો…”

પ્રવિણભાઈના આ શબ્દો સાંભળતા જ મન ભરાઈ જાય.

નાનો હતો ત્યારથી પહેલા પિતા, પછી મા, પછી મોટી બહેન, પછી નાની બહેન… અને આજે પણ એક બહેન ખાટલે પડી છે.

જે ખાટલો પકડે, એની તમામ જવાબદારી પ્રવિણભાઈના ખભા પર. ઝાડો-પેશાબથી લઈને રોજિંદી તમામ સેવા એમના હાથેથી થાય.

અમે પૂછ્યું, “આ જીવન સામે ફરિયાદ નથી?”

જવાબમાં પ્રવિણભાઈ શાંતિથી કહે,“શાની ફરિયાદ? પોતાના હોય એને થોડા છોડી દેવાય? કરમમાં લખેલું તો પુરુ કરવાનું ને?”

બનાસકાંઠાના સેમેદ્રાગામમાં રહેતા પ્રવિણભાઈની સ્થિતિ જોઈને જીવ બળી ગયો.

આખા ઘરમાં એકમાત્ર પ્રવિણભાઈ જ એવા જેમને સમજ અને જવાબદારીની મતિ઼. બાકીના ભાઈ-બહેનો તો માનસિક રીતે નિજાનંદી.

આ બધું કેમ થયું? એનો જવાબ પ્રવિણભાઈ પાસે નથી. પણ પડોશીઓ કહે, "જન્મ્યા એ વખતે તો બધા સરસ હતા, પણ થોડા વર્ષોમાં ધીમે-ધીમે માનસિક સ્થિતિ બદલાતી ગઈ."

ઈશ્વરે પ્રવિણભાઈને ચાકરી કરવાની વિશેષ શક્તિ આપી હોય એવું સ્થિતિ જોઈને લાગ્યું. એ બહાર જઈને કામ કરી શકે નહીં. ઘરમાં આટલા બધાને સાચવવાના. પણ હિંમત હારી નથી. સિલાઈ મશીન ચલાવતાં આવડે એટલે ગામમાં કોઈના ફાટેલા કપડાં સાંધવાનું કરી આપે.

ખાવા-પીવા માટે VSSM તરફથી રાશનકીટ મળે. એ સિવાય પાલનપુરના એક સહૃદય ભાઈ પણ રાશનકીટ આપે. આ બે મદદથી ઘરમાં જમવાનું બની જાય.

સરકાર તરફથી ત્રણે દિવ્યાંગ માટે મળતા 3000 રૂપિયા માંથી દવા, દૂધ, શાકભાજી જેવા નાનામોટા ખર્ચો નીકળી જાય.

પ્રવિણભાઈ કહે છે, “રાશન મળે એટલે હું શાંતિથી આ બધાની સેવા કરી શકું છું.

નહીં તો બહુ અઘરું થઈ જાય.”

ખરેખર, પ્રવિણભાઈ આજના સમયમાં શ્રવણ જેવો દીકરો અને લક્ષ્મણ જેવો ભાઈ છે.

કપરી સ્થિતિમાં જીવતા માતા-પિતા અને ભાઈ-બહેનોને એમણે ક્યારેય ત્યજ્યા નથી.

ફરજને ભાર નહીં, પણ ધર્મ સમજીને વહન કરે.

અમે આવા પરિવારને રાશન થકી થોડી સાંત્વના આપી શક્યા એનો રાજીપો.

ઈશ્વર પ્રવિણભાઈના માથે હંમેશા હાથ રાખે એવી પ્રાર્થના ને અમને નિમિત્તનો સંતોષ.

VSSM has started working with nomadic families in Alwar district, Rajasthan. Today, our families living in ten villages, who have been staying in makeshift shelters far from the villages, applied to the Collector, Dr. Artik Shukla, for land allotment so that they can have their own plots to live on.

Dr. Artik Shukla is a very sensitive officer and has shown willingness to support this initiative. We hope that soon our families will receive basic facilities, including their own plots for permanent housing.

In Harbatiyali village of Rajkot district, 27 Gadaliya families have faced the same struggle for generations—no land of their own, no permanent roof, and their children’s education remaining a distant dream. Living a nomadic life, these families have always endured instability and hardship.

Through years of dedicated effort, VSSM helped these families establish their identity by facilitating identity proofs for all, enabling them to access government schemes and their rightful entitlements. Today, with the support of the Honorable Chief Minister of Gujarat, all these families have finally received land ownership titles in their own names.

We are also grateful to the administrative machinery, without whose support this work would not have been possible. Now, the doors of education have opened for their children, and the dream of a permanent home is becoming a reality. This is not just a piece of land, but a strong foundation for a secure, dignified, and stable future— the first step toward a new beginning.

 हरबटीयाली गाँव में नई उम्मीदों की किरण 🌱

राजकोट ज़िले के हरबटीयाली गाँव में रहने वाले 27 गाडलिया परिवार पीढ़ियों से एक ही संघर्ष का सामना करते आए हैं — न अपनी ज़मीन, न पक्की छत, और बच्चों की पढ़ाई तो बस एक दूर का सपना। घुमंतू जीवन जीते हुए इन परिवारों ने हमेशा अस्थिरता और कठिनाइयों के बीच अपना जीवन बिताया।

VSSM ने वर्षों की मेहनत और प्रयास से इन परिवारों को उनकी पहचान दिलाई। सभी के लिए पहचान पत्र (Identity Proof) बनवाए, ताकि वे सरकारी योजनाओं और अपने अधिकारों से जुड़ सकें। और आज, गुजरात के माननीय मुख्यमंत्री के सहयोग से, इन सभी परिवारों को आखिरकार अपने नाम की ज़मीन का पट्टा मिला है।

हम वहीवट तंत्र के भी आभारी हैं, जिनके बिना यह काम अधूरा रह जाता। अब उनके बच्चों के लिए शिक्षा के द्वार खुल गए हैं, और स्थायी घर का सपना हक़ीक़त बनने जा रहा है। यह केवल ज़मीन का टुकड़ा नहीं, बल्कि सुरक्षित, सम्मानजनक और स्थिर भविष्य की मजबूत नींव है — एक नई शुरुआत की पहली सीढ़ी।

Mittal Patel visits Kuno as a member of Cheetah Project Steering Committee...

Leopards (Cheetahs) became extinct in India about 70 years ago. The effort to reintroduce them in India is now showing success. As a member of the Cheetah Steering Committee appointed by the Government of India, I have closely observed the hard work put in by forest department officers and the government for this cause.

Currently, the leopard population has reached 29, out of which 17 were born in India…

It is an honor to be a part of this project.

Thanks to Honorable Narendra Modi and Honorable Bhupendra Yadav ji.

The engagement of communities living around Kuno—especially the Sahariya, Gurjar, and other communities—is also increasing in this project. Just as we have lion friends in Gir, here we have leopard friends working alongside us.

Leopards are wonderful animals; they never harm humans and can be considered somewhat shy creatures.

In the near future, leopards will also arrive in the Banni area of Kutch…

Now, all eyes are on Kuno…

ભારતમાં ચિત્તા ૭૦ વર્ષ પહેલા લુપ્ત થયા. આ ચિત્તાને ફરી ભારતમાં વસાવવાનો પ્રયાસ સફળ થઈ રહ્યો છે. ભારત સરકાર દ્વારા ચિત્તા માટે નિમાયેલી ચિત્તા સ્ટિયરિંગ કમિટીના સદસ્ય હોવાના નાતે વન વિભાગના અધિકારીઓની, સરકારની આ કામ માટે મહેનત નજીકથી જોઈ. 

હવે ચિત્તાની સંખ્યા ૨૯ થઈ અને એમાં પણ ભારતમાં જન્મેલા ૧૭…

આ પ્રોજેક્ટનો હિસ્સો હોવાનું ગૌરવ.

ચિત્તો મજાનું પ્રાણી માણસને ક્યારેય નુકશાન ન પહોચાડે અને આમ થોડું ભીરુ કહી શકાય એવું જાનવર.

આવનારા થોડા વખતમાં આપણા કચ્છના બન્નીમાં પણ ચિત્તા નું આગમન થશે…

"Even a dog from your maternal home feels dear, Ben..."

Hansaben lives in the Barmer district of Rajasthan. We had begun work there with nomadic denotified tribes as well as on water conservation. Currently, we’re working on locating the temporary settlements of nomadic communities.

As we were passing through a village near Barmer, we saw a few huts. From the appearance of the huts, they seemed to belong to the Vansfoda community. We stopped the vehicle and went to meet them. After a short conversation, the head of the household, Rakeshbhai, said:

"Didi, do you know Lala Bhai from Chhapi? I saw a photo of you with him."

After Rakeshbhai said this, there were conversations filled with curiosity—Do you know so-and-so brother, and what about such-and-such person?

As we were talking with Rakeshbhai, his wife came out of the hut and said directly:

"Didi, I’m from Khedbrahma. My name is Hansa."

Seeing us, Hansaben was overjoyed… She asked if she should bring some cool water, offered food, and spoke in many ways.

After that, Hansaben took me into their hut. She was hand-stitching cushion covers and showed them to me. She said:

"You’ve come from my maternal home."

Just imagine—when you go out of your state, the whole region starts to feel like your maternal home.

As we were getting ready to leave, after planning a meeting with all the Vansfoda families of Barmer, Hansaben said:

"Take a photo with me..."

So we took that photo… This is my extended family.

 "પિયરનું તો કૂતરુંય વહાલું લાગે બેન.."હંસાબહેન રાજસ્થાનના બાડમેર જિલ્લામાં રહે. અમે રાજસ્થાનમાં વિચરતી વિમુક્ત જાતિઓ સાથે તેમજ જળસંચયનું કામ શરૃ કર્યું. હાલ તો ત્યાં વિચરતા સમુદાયોના પડાવો શોધવાનું ચાલે.

અમે બાડમેર નજીક એક ગામમાંથી પસાર થતા હતા ત્યાં કેટલાક ઝૂંપડાં જોયા. ઝૂંપડાના દેખાવ પરથી વાંસફોડા પરિવારના લાગ્યા. ગાડી ઊભી રાખી અમે મળવા ગયા. થોડી વાતો થઈ ત્યાં તો ઘરના આગેવાન રાકેશભાઈએ કહ્યું, 

"दीदी आप छापी के लालाभाई को जानते हो? उनके साथ आपकी फोटो देखी थीा"

રાકેશભાઈની આ વાત સાંભળ્યા પછી તો ફલાણા ભાઈ અને ઠીકણાભાઈ ને તમે ઓળખો ની અલક મલકની વાતો. 

રાકેશભાઈ સાથે અમારી વાતો ચાલતી હતી ત્યાં છાપરામાંથી એમના પત્ની બહાર આવ્યા અને સીધુ જ કહ્યું, "દીદી હું ખેડબ્રહ્માની. મારુ નામ હંસા."

અમને જોઈને હંસાબહેન તો રાજી રાજી.. ઠંડુ મંગાવું, જમ્યા વગેરે કેટલીયે વાતો. 

એ પછી હંસાબહેન મને એમના છાપરામાં લઈ ગયા. ત્યાં એ હાથેથી ઓશિકાના કવર બનાવતા એ બતાવ્યા. એ કહે, "તમે મારા પિયરથી આવ્યા." 

બોલો પ્રદેશ બહાર જાવ તો આખો પ્રદેશ પિયર લાગે.. 

બાડમેરના બધા વાંસફોડા પરિવારો સાથે એક બેઠકનું આયોજન કરવાનું કહીને અમે નીકળી રહ્યા હતા ત્યારે હંસાબેન કહ્યું, "મારી સાથે એક ફોટો લોને..."

બસ તે એ ફોટો પાડ્યો... આ મારો બૃહદ પરિવાર...

મારે મન તો ઊડી ગયેલાં

તળાવ પાછાં વળિયાં"

The people of village Padardi regretted not filtering and deepening the lake every year, especially after seeing how it had become as shallow as a saucer. If they had maintained the lake regularly, it wouldn't have required a significant amount of money to restore it. Now, however, a large sum of money is needed to restore the lake, which, for them, is a "Jalmandir."

Kakar village is located next to Padardi in Banaskantha, where families of florists reside. We strive to support the welfare of these families. Whenever we visit Banaskantha, we stay in Kakar, which is why Paadardi has caught our attention during our travels back and forth.

The people of Paadardi are aware that we rejuvenate lakes and transform them into Jalmandirs. They requested our help to deepen their village lakes. With the assistance of the GIA organization, we worked on deepening the lakes located on the village border. As a result, water from the river Maa Reva-Narmada flowed in, filling the entire lakes to the brim.

In Paadardi village, the water level has dropped to between 1,000 and 1,100 feet deep, causing five to ten borewells to fail each year. Given this situation, recharging the lakes solely with monsoon water seemed impossible. However, the government supported the villagers through the Maa Narmada initiative. Two lakes, excavated with the assistance of VSSM and the Vimukta Foundation, were successfully filled with water. As a result, farmers will no longer need to lift water from a depth of a thousand feet. Traditionally, seventy to eighty horsepower motors have been required to operate borewells. However, only a five-horsepower motor is needed to run a machine placed in a lake to draw water for irrigation.

The reduction in electricity bills is a notable benefit. Additionally, the wells in the surrounding area are being recharged thanks to the water that percolates through the bottoms of the lakes. These lakes benefit not only the farmers of Padardi village but also those from neighborhood village of Nikoi.

Seeing the filled lakes, the eyes of many farmers in the village fill with tears. The villagers say, "If the lake was not dug, the billions of liters of water that have been filled with it today, would not have been filled."

When the Jalmandir is filled with water, it not only supports the lives of farmers but also brings happiness to all living beings in the surroundiing world!

Thanks to you, GIA,  and the support of many well-wishers like you, we have successfully rejuvenated 325 lakes so far.

We are committed to rejuvenating 1,000 Jalmandirs, and we pray to God to help us achieve this noble, divine goal.

કોઈ કહે અવસર આવ્યો, 

કોઈ કહે ઝળઝળિયાં

મારે મન તો ઊડી ગયેલાં

ગામના છીછરી રકાબી જેવા થઈ ગયેલા તળાવો જોઈને દર વર્ષે તળાવ ગાળવાનું કેમ ન કર્યું એવો અફસોસ પાદરડીગામના સૌને થયો. જો દર વર્ષે તળાવ ગાળ્યું હોત તો બહુ મોટો ખર્ચો ન થાત. પણ રકાબી જેવા આમ તો એક હતું તળાવ એવી સ્થિતિએ પહોંચેલું તળાવ - જલમંદિર ગાળવા લાખો રૃપિયા જોઈએ. 

બનાસકાંઠાના પાદરડીની બાજુમાં કાકર ગામ ત્યાં ફૂલવાદી પરિવારો રહે. અમે આ પરિવારોના કલ્યાણના કામોમાં નિમિત્ત બનીએ. આમ તો બનાસકાંઠા હોઈએ ત્યારે રોકાણ પર કાકરમા. એટલે પાદરડી તો જતા આવતા ધ્યાને આવે. 

જલમંદિરના નિર્માણનું કાર્ય અમે કરીએ એવી પાદરડી વાસીઓને ખબર એટલે એમણે પોતાના ગામના તળાવોને ઊંડા કરવા વિનંતી કરી. ગામની સીમમાં આવેલું તળાવ અમે GIA સંસ્થાની મદદથી ઊંડુ કર્યું. આ ઊંડા કરેલા તળાવમાં મા રેવા- નર્મદાનું પાણી આવ્યું ને આખુ તળાવ સરસ ભરાયું.

પાદરડી ગામમાં પાણીના તળ 1000 થી 1100 ફૂટે પહોંચ્યા. દર વર્ષે પાંચ - દસ બોરવેલ ફેઈલ થઈ જાય. આવી સ્થિતિમાં માત્ર ચોમાસાના પાણીથી તળ રીચાર્જ થાય એ અસંભવ લાગતું હતું. પણ સરકાર મા નર્મદાના માધ્યમથી ગામલોકોની વહારે આવી અને VSSM, વિુમક્ત ફાઉન્ડેશનની મદદથી ખોદેલા બેય તળાવો સરસ ભરાયા. જેના કારણે ખેડૂતોને હવે હજાર ફૂટથી પાણી ઉલેચવા નહીં પડે. બોરવેલમાં સીત્તેર એંસી હોર્સ પાવરની મોટર ચાલે. પણ તળાવમાં મશીન મુકી પાંચ હોર્સ પાવરની મોટરથી સિંચાઈ માટે પાણી લઈ જઈ શકાય છે.

વીજબીલમાં પણ ફાયદો થયો. વળી તળ પણ તળાવો ભરાવના કારણે રીચાર્જ થઈ રહ્યા છે. પાછુ આ તળાવ ભરાવવાથી માત્ર પાદરડી નહીં પણ નેકોઈ ગામના ખેડૂતોને પણ ફાયદો થયો.

ભરાયેલા તળાવ જોઈને ગામના અનેક ખેડૂતોની આંખમાં ઝળઝળિયા આવી જાય છે. ગામલોકો કહે છે, "જો તળાવ ખોદાયું ન હોત તો આજે જે કરોડો લીટર પાણી એમાં ભરાયું છે એ ન ભરાયું હોત."

જલમંદિરોમાં પાણી ભરાય તો ખેડૂતની સાથે સાથે સમગ્ર જીવ સૃષ્ટિ પણ રાજી...

આપણા પ્રસંગોમાં, આપણી માન્યતાઓમાં એનું અનેરુ સ્થાન.

પણ આપણે વિકાસની દિશામાં પગરણ માંડ્યાને ધરોહરો ભૂલાવવા માંડી.આપણા સૌની અને સૌથી અગત્યનું પાણીની હાજરીથી જીવંત થતા તળાવો આજે પાણી અને આપણા બેયની જાણે કાગડોળે વાટ જુએ.

ઉનાળાના બળબળતા તાપમાં જ એનો જીર્ણોદ્ધાર થાય. માથે કપડુ નાખીને પણ જીવંત થતા તળાવોનો હરખ જોવા જવાનું કરીએ..

 "An extra packet of chili came with this month's ration kit. How should I send it back? It must have been someone else. Please take it when you pass by from me ..."

Every month, we provide ration to around 700 elderly families. As part of this, we also gave a kit to Balukaka, who lives in Lodhra, Gandhinagar. The shopkeeper prepared the kits, and by mistake, two packets of chilli were added to his kit. Neither the shopkeeper nor our worker Rizwanbhai was aware of this mistake. But when Balukaka opened the kit and saw the two packets, he thought it was a mistake and immediately called me to inform about it.

Balukaka has lost the use of half of his body. His wife, though she can still do some work, goes to people's houses to clean or do the dishes, and sometimes even works in the fields. But their situation is dire.

The village's Prahladbhai informed us about this family. Prahladbhai is one of our loan members and helps us with time donations for social work. We decided to provide ration to this family. For the first time, we sent Prahladbhai to deliver the kit to Balukaka's house. When they saw the ration, both of their eyes filled with tears of joy. They said, "For the past three days, we were only surviving on tea, we had nothing to eat, but now..."

Then they opened the ration kit and when they saw garlic inside, they were overjoyed. Garlic was a bit expensive at that time. They said, "We haven't had garlic for two months, but you..." They couldn't speak any further, but their emotions were evident. When we met them, there was contentment visible on their faces. They don't have a house of their own to live in and are staying in someone's shed.

When we asked if they needed anything else, they folded their hands and said, "What you give is enough. May God bless you and give you the strength to serve many others." Hearing their situation, my eyes filled with tears.

I pray that no one else has to face such a situation...

However, now they are relieved. This relief has come with the support of kind-hearted people like you. We are grateful for that. The Dr. K.R. Shroff Foundation has been a tremendous help in this effort. Additionally, many other well-wishers, like Ashwinbhai Chaudhary, who help provide rations to many families, are equally crucial. If we all come together, we can satisfy the hunger of many such families.

I pray that nature always provides for the well-being of everyone."

"મરચાનું વધારાનું એક પેકટ આ વખતની રાશનની કીટ સાથે આવી ગયું છે, તે એને કેવી રીતે પાછુ મોકલાવું? બિચારા કોકનું હશે. તે તમે આવતા જતા લઈ જજોને..."

અમે દર મહિને 700 જેટલા નિરાધાર માવતરોને રાશન આપીયે. એના જ ભાગરૃપે ગાંધીનગરના લોદ્રામાં રહેતા બાલુકાકા ને પણ કીટ આપેલી. દુકાનદારે કીટ બનાવી એ વખતે ભૂલથી મરચાના બે પેકેટ એમની કીટમાં મુકાઈ ગયા. આ થયાનું દુકાનદાર ને કે અમારા કાર્યકર રીઝવાનભાઈ બેમાંથી કોઈને ખબર નહીં. પણ બાલુકાકાએ કીટ ખોલીને એમાં બે પેકેટ જોયા એટલે કોકનું મારી પાસે આવી ગયું એમ વિચારી જીવ બાળ્યો ને પાછો ફોન કરીને આ વિગત કહી.

કાકાના અડધા અંગને લકવો પડી ગયો છે. કાકી હજુ થોડું કામ કરી શકે તે લોકોના ઘરોમાં કચરા- પોતુ કરવા કે વાસણ કરવા જાય તો ક્યારેક ખેતરમાં પણ કામે જાય. પણ એમની પરિસ્થિતિ વીકટ.

ગામના પ્રહલાદભાઈએ અમને આ પરિવારની વાત કરી. પ્રહલાદભાઈ અમારા લોન ધારકને અમને સેવાકાર્યમાં સમયદાન આપે. અમે આ પરિવારને રાશન આપવાનું નક્કી કર્યું. પહેલીવાર પ્રહલાદભાઈને જ કાકાના ઘરે કીટ આપવા મોકલ્યા. ને રાશન જોઈને બેયની આંખમાં હર્ષાસુ આવી ગયા. એમણે કહ્યું. "ત્રણ દિવસથી માત્ર ચાના સહારે બેઠા હતા.ખાવા નહોતું. તે આજે..."

એ પછી એમણે રાશન કીટ ખોલી અને અંદર લસણ જોયું તો ખુબ હરખાયા. એ વખતે લસણ જરા મોંધુ હતું. એમણે કહ્યું, "બે મહિનાથી લસણ ભાળ્યું નહોતું પણ તમે...." એ કશું બોલી ન શક્યા. પણ બધુ સમજી શકાય એવું હતું. એમને જ્યારે મળ્યા ત્યારે એમના મોંઢા પર સંતોષ દેખાતો હતો. એમની પાસે રહેવા પોતાનું ઘર નથી. કોઈકની ઓસરીમાં એ રહે. 

વધારે કશું જોઈએ એવું પુછ્યું તો, બે હાથ જોડીને તમે આપો એ ઘણું છે. ભગવાન તમને ખુબ આપે ને અનેકોની સેવા કરાવે એવા આશિર્વાદ આપ્યા. પણ એમની હાલતની વાતો એમણે કરી એ સાંભળી આંખ ભરાઈ આવી. 

ભગવાન આવી દશા કોઈની ન કરની પ્રાર્થના...

જો કે હવે એમને નિરાંત છે.. આ નિરાંત આપવાનું આપ જેવા સ્વજનોના ટેકાથી થયું છે. એ માટે આભારી છીએ. ડો.કે.આર.શ્રોફ ફાઉન્ડેશન આ કાર્યમાં ખુબ મોટી મદદ કરે. એ સિવાય પણ અશ્વિનભાઈ ચૌધરી જેવા અનેક સ્વજનો જેઓ ઘણા મોટા પ્રમાણમાં માવતરોને રાશન આપવામાં મદદ કરે. આપ સૌ સાથે આવશો તો આવા અનેકોના જઠારાગ્નિને સંતોષવાનું આપણે  કરી શકીશું. 

કુદરત સૌના શુભમાં હંમેશા નિમિત્ત બનાવે તેવી પ્રાર્થના....

 I studied while staying at the Sports Hostel. At that time, there weren’t as many competitions as there are today. In the few competitions that were held, if we participated and won, we would get a steel box or six steel glasses as a prize. But after 2005, the entire field of sports changed. The Khel Mahakumbh played a significant role in bringing about this transformation. Now, people are starting to take sports as a career. And it’s even more joyful to see daughters and sisters advancing in the field of sports.

Recently, the Sports Journalist Association of Gujarat organized a program to honor the sisters who have advanced in the field of sports. I had the opportunity to attend as a guest. The recognition of the girls who play with sportsmanship makes not only the players but also their families feel proud.

I would like to thank the association for organizing such a wonderful event. I also thank all the journalist friends, from Shaileshbhai to Tusharbhai, for including me in this program.

હું સ્પોર્ટ્સ હોસ્ટેલમાં રહીને ભણી. એ વખતે આજે થાય એટલી સ્પર્ધાઓ નહોતી થતી. ગણીગાંઠી સ્પર્ધામાં ભાગ અમે લઈએ ને જીતીએ તો સ્ટીલના ડબ્બા, છ સ્ટીલના ગ્લાસ ભેટ રૃપે મળતા.. પણ 2005 પછી રમત ગમત ક્ષેત્ર આખું બદલાયું. ખેલ મહાકુંભે પણ આ સકલ બદલવામાં મહત્વનો ભાગ ભજવ્યો. હવે તો લોકો રમતગમતને પોતાની કારકિર્દી તરીકે લેવા માંડ્યા છે. એમાંય દીકરીઓને - બહેનોને રમતગમત ક્ષેત્રે આગળ વધતી જોવું ત્યારે વધારે આનંદ થાય.

હણમાં સ્પોર્ટ્સ જર્નાલિસ્ટ એસોસિયેશન ઓફ ગુજરાત દ્વારા રમત ગમત ક્ષેત્રે આગળ  વધી રહેલી બહેનોના સન્માનનો કાર્યક્રમ આયોજિત કરવામાં આવ્યો. કાર્યક્રમમાં મહેમાન તરીકે જવાનું થયું. ખેલદીલી પૂર્વક રમતી બહેનોના સન્માનથી ખેલાડી પોતે અને તેનો પરિવાર પણ રાજી થાય.

આવા સરસ ઉપક્રમ માટે એસોસિએશનનો આભાર માનવો ઘટે. મને પણ આ કાર્યક્રમનો હિસ્સો બનાવી તે માટે શૈલેષભાઈ થી લઈને તુષારભાઈ સૌ પત્રકાર મિત્રોનો આભાર...

With the request from VSSM, the government increases the housing assistance in the budget 2025...

The government provides assistance of 1.20 lakh for building homes for wandering, marginalized families. However, with the high cost of living, building a home with this amount is difficult.

For families living in the city, the government provides 3.50 lakh to build homes. We have been consistently making representations for several years to increase the amount of housing assistance from the government.

During the inauguration of two settlements built by VSSM through the efforts of the government and the institution, the Honorable Chief Minister had also demanded an increase in housing assistance.

Before the start of last year's legislative session, we requested the Honorable Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai and Finance Minister Shri Kanubhai, along with the esteemed Shri Bhagwandas Panchal (former president of Bakshipanch Morcha), whom we call Kaka, to help increase the housing assistance. As a result of this request, the government increased the housing assistance by 50,000 in this budget, for which we are grateful. However, the expected amount was 3.5 lakh. But we are happy with this increment, and we will continue to make further representations for an increase.

Honorable Shri Bhagwandas Kaka has been continuously with us, advocating for various schemes related to wandering, marginalized families, water, and the environment. Every week, Kaka visits the office, guides us on which department to approach for specific representations, and then helps us make the presentations in his own way. Whenever needed, he also encourages various ministers to help. We are grateful to have Kaka with us.

We hope that the housing assistance will be further increased in next year's budget.

We are thankful to God for guiding us to undertake such noble tasks and hope that, until the last breath of our lives, we continue to be instruments for the welfare of the nomadic communities.

વિચરતા વિમુક્ત પરિવારોના ઘર બાંધવા સરકાર દ્વારા 1.20 લાખની સહાય આપવામાં આવે. પણ આટલી મોંધવારીમાં આટલી રકમમાંથી ઘર બાંધવું મુશ્કેલ. 

સરકાર દ્વારા શહેરમાં રહેતા તકવંચિત પરિવારોના મકાન બાંધવા 3.50 લાખ આપવામાં આવે. અમે પાછલા ઘણા વર્ષથી સરકારમાં મકાન સહાયની રકમમાં વધારો થાય તે માટે સતત રજૂઆતો કરી રહ્યા હતા.

આદરણીય મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી દ્વારા VSSM એ સરકાર અને સંસ્થા સાથે સંકળાયેલા સ્વજનો મારફત બાંધેલી બે વસાહતોના ઉદઘાટન વખતે પણ મકાન સહાયમાં વધારો કરવાની માંગ કરેલી. 

ગત વર્ષે વિધાનસભા સત્ર શરૃ થતા પહેલા પણ આદરણીય મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી ભુપેન્દ્રભાઈ તેમજ નાણામંત્રી શ્રી કનુભાઈને આદરણીય ભગવાનદાસ પંચાલ(પૂર્વ પ્રમુખ બક્ષીપંચ મોરચો) જેમને અમે કાકા કહીએ એમને સાથે રાખી ખાસ મકાન સહાયમાં વધારો કરવા વિનંતી કરેલી. આ વિનંતીના ભાગરૃપે આ બજેટમાં મકાન સહાયમાં 50,000નો વધારો સરકારે કર્યો. જે માટે સરકારના આભારી છીએ. હા આશા સહાયની રકમ 3.5 લાખની થાય એવી હતી. પણ આટલું થયું એનો રાજીપો. હજુ વધારા માટે રજૂઆત કરીશું..

આદરણીય ભગવાનકાકા સરકાર સાથે વિવિધ યોજનાઓ વિચરતા વિમુક્ત પરિવારો, પાણી અને પર્યાવરણના વિષયે બને તે માટે સતત અમારી સાથે. કાકા અઠવાડિયે એક વખત ઓફીસ આવીને કઈ રજૂઆત ક્યા વિભાગમાં કરવાની તે અંગે માર્ગદર્શન આપે ને રજૂઆત માટે પાછા સાથે આવે ને પોતાની રીતે તો એ રજૂઆત કરે જ. જરૃર પડે વિવિધ મંત્રીશ્રીઓને પણ આમાં મદદ કરવા કહે.. આવા કાકા અમારી સાથે હોવાનો રાજીપો છે.

બસ આવતા વર્ષના બજેટમાં મકાન સહાયમાં હજુ વધારો થાય તેવી સરકાર પાસે અપેક્ષા...

આવા સદકાર્યો કરવાની સમજ આપી ને આવા કાર્યોમાં નિમિત્ત બનાવવા માટે કુદરતનો આભાર.. જીવનના અંતિમ શ્વાસ સુધી તકવંચિતોના શુભમાં નિમિત્ત બનતા રહીએ એવી શુભભાવના...

"We have lived in the village for years, but no one has paid attention to us."

This sentence is often heard from many people, and every time I hear it, it saddens me. The person living in the village is an inseparable part of the village, so why does no one pay attention to their condition?

When working with marginalized or deprived communities, we have to travel from village to village, and in almost all of them, the people living in these settlements express the same complaint.

Tatosangam, a village in Mehsana district, is home to Kangsiya families who have lived there for generations. They earn their livelihood by selling bangles, baskets, and mats. They have built their homes with mud in the place where they live. However, they constantly live in fear of being evicted. Our work is to make sure that these families live without fear. The government also supports us in this effort.

The government has promised them plots of land to give them peace of mind, where they won't have to fear eviction. As part of the process of applying for land, we ensure that these families receive all necessary documentation. The Kangsiya families living in Tatosangam did not have caste certificates.

With the help of VSSM worker Rizwanbhai and the compassion of the Social Welfare Department, these families were provided with caste certificates.

All the families insisted that we visit their settlement. They believed that if the government saw their situation firsthand, they would be able to raise their concerns with more authority. We visited their settlement and distributed the caste certificates.

Now, we hope that all these families will soon have residential plot ownership with an address in their name.

 ‘અમે વર્ષોથી ગામમાં જ રહીએ પણ અમારા પર કોઈએ ધ્યાન ન દીધું’

આ વાક્ય અનેકોના મોંઢે સાંભળવાનું થાય ને જ્યારે પણ એ સાંભળુ ત્યારે મન ખીન્ન થઈ જાય. ગામમાં રહેનાર વ્યક્તિ ગામનું અભીન્ન અંગ ગણાય છતાં એમની સ્થિતિ તરફ કોઈ કેમ નહીં જોતા હોય?

વિચરતી જાતિઓ કે વંચિતો સાથેના કામો અર્થે ગામડે ગામડે અનેક વસાહતમાં ફરવાનું થાય ને જેટલી પણ વસાહતમાં જઈએ તેમાંની મોટાભાગની વસાહતોમાં રહેતા લોકોની આ રાડ.મહેસાણા જિલ્લાનું તાતોસણગામ. કાંગસિયા પરિવારો વર્ષોથી ગામામાં રહે. બંગડી, બોરિયા બકલ વેચવાનો ધંધો કરે. કાચા છાપરા પણ એ જે જગ્યા પર રહે ત્યાં એમણે બાંધ્યા. પણ સતત ભય જગ્યા ખાલી કરાવી દેશોનો લાગ્યા કરે. અમે આવા પરિવારોને નિર્ભય કરવાનું કામ હાથ ધર્યું છે. સરકાર પણ આ કાર્યમાં અમને ખુબ સહયોગ કરે. રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ એ એમને આપેલું નિર્ભયપાણનું વચન. જ્યાંથી કોઈ જગ્યા ખાલી કરાવશેનો ડર ન લાગે. પ્લોટ મેળવવા અરજી કરીએ એ પ્રક્રિયાના ભાગરૃપે જ આ પરિવારોને તમામ પૂરાવા મળે તેવા પ્રયત્નો કરીએ. તાતોસણામાં રહેતા પરિવારો પાસે પણ જાતિ પ્રમાણપત્ર નહીં.

VSSMના કાર્યકર રીઝવાનભાઈની મદદથી અને સમાજ કલ્યાણ કચેરીની લાગણીથી આ પરિવારોને પ્રમાણપત્ર મળ્યા.

બધા પરિવારોનો આગ્રહ હતો એક વખત વસાહતમાં તમે આવો. સ્થિતિ જોશો તો સરકાર ને અમારી વાત તમે વધારે ભાર પૂર્વક કહી શકશો

એવું એમનું માનવું હતું. તે ખાસ એમની વસાહતમાં ગયા. જાતિપ્રમાણપત્રનું વિતરણ પણ કર્યું. 

બસ હવે આ બધા ઝટ પોતાની માલીકીની સરનામાવાળી જગ્યાવાળા થાય તેમ ઈચ્છીએ.

Chaman Kaka, who was struggling with hard breathing, had finally found peace in his own home. In his youth, Kaka used to clear mango orchards and, during the mango season, worked as a farm laborer. But now, old age had come. Now, nothing could be done about the past.

At that moment, when I had to leave from my village, I remembered Chaman Kaka, and we arrived at his house in Aajol. My daughter was with me. Kaka was very happy to see both of us. He thought for a moment about what to give my daughter, then walked around the house and courtyard. Finally, he came back with a small pot and said, "Take this. For your daughter."

"What is this?"

"Peanuts."

"You keep it, Kaka, and you enjoy it."

But Kaka insisted and, in the end, fetched a small sack, filled it with peanuts, and then found peace.

Chaman Kaka’s old age passes peacefully. To ensure that no one suffers from loneliness or deprivation, we provide ration support to him every month. This brings him comfort. He cooks for himself.

His house, which was in a dilapidated state, was repaired with the help of our friend Shri Dr. Aleem Adatia  Bhai. Kaka says, "Now, I don't have to worry about thatched roofs. And with my two hands, I can comfortably live by singing the praises of God."

This relief reaches the heart of Chaman Kaka. Hearing this, the efforts we have made seem worthwhile.

There are about 600 such elderly destitute who are helpless. We provide ration to them every month. You can also participate in such service activities. If you become a caretaker for any elderly, we can reach even more people in need.

કોથળી લઈને આવ્યા ને કહે, ‘આને લઈ જાવ. આ ભાણીબા માટે.’

‘શું છે?’

‘ફોફા(મગફળી)’

‘તમે રાખો, તમે ખાજો કાકા’

પણ કાકા માને શાના છેવટે એક નાનકડુ ઝબલુ મંગાવી એમાં મગફળી લીધી પછી કાકાને નિરાંત થઈ.

ચમનકાકાનું ઘડપણ નિરાંતે પસાર થાય, કોઈની ઓશિયાળી વેઠવી ન પડે માટે અમે દર મહિને રાશન આપીએ. કાકાને એનાથી

હાશ છે. એ જાતે રસોઈ બનાવી લે છે.

ઘર જર્જરીત હતું તે અમારા અલીમભાઈની મદદથી એ બંધાયું. કાકા કહે, ‘હવે છાપરુ હોચ કરવાની રોમાયણ નહીં. ને બે ટંક

ભગવોનનો ભજતો ભજતો રૃપાળુ હાથેથી રોધીન ખવું સુ ન આરામ કરુ સુ..’

ચમનકાકાના હૃદયને પહોંચેલી આ ટાઢક. આ સાંભળીને કરેલા કાર્યો લેખે લાગ્યાનું લાગે.

આવા 600 બા દાદાઓ જેઓ નિરાધાર છે એમને અમે દર મહિને રાશન આપીએ. તમે પણ આવા સેવાકાર્યોમાં સહભાગી થઈ

શકો. કોઈ બા કે દાદાના તમે પાલક થાવ તો આપણે આવા જરૃરિયાતવાળા વધારે લોકો સુધી પહોંચી શકીએ.
