Just read the book written by respected Shri Dhruvdada (Bhatt). The story is fictional. The story is about how the man had to leave the polluted earth and was forced to live elsewhere. However, in reality we don't have an option to go to another planet. We do not have a choice but to stay on this earth. Therefore we do not have a choice but to keep the earth clean & beautiful. We may survive but what about our next generation?

In an effort to provide a clean environment to the next generation, we started planting trees.

In Jaswantpura village in Patan planted 4000 trees in the village graveyard and cemetery with the help of Anuhpharma. Thank you Anuhfarma &  Respected Bipinbhai and family.. We will take care of these trees for three years.

Our campaign of tree plantation has now started in Patan.

The village sarpanch himself took the initiative and invited us to plant the trees and take care of the trees. He saw the trees raised by us in the Shia of Banaskantha and the cemetery of Totanagam and invited us to do similar work in his village as well.We planted nice trees. This type of work has to be done continuously. We cannot be complacent. Like we regularly eat, walk similarly we environmental work also have to be done regularly. We just have to steadfastly keep ourselves committed to the task.

 આદરણીય ધ્રુવદાદા (ધ્રુવભટ્ટ) લીખીત ન ઈતિ પુસ્તક હમણાં વાચ્યું. પુસ્તકમાં વાત કાલ્પનીક છે. પણ એ કલ્પનામાં પૃથ્વી આપણે એટલી હદે પ્રદુષીત કરી કે પછી માણસે પૃથ્વી છોડી અન્ય જગ્યાએ રહેવા જવા મજબૂર થવું પડ્યું. દાદાએ કલ્પના કરી પણ હકીકતમાં અન્ય ગ્રહ પર કે અન્ય જગ્યાએ રહેવા જવાના વિકલ્પો આપણી પાસે નથી. ત્યારે આપણી ધરતીને ચોખ્ખી અને સુંદર રાખવાનું આપણે કરવું પડશે નહીં તો આપણે કદાચ જીવી જશું પણ આપણી આવનારી પેઢી?

ખેર આવનારી પેઢીને શુદ્ધ વાતાવારણ આપવાના પ્રયાસ રૃપે અમે વૃક્ષો વાવી ઉછેરવાનું શરૃ કર્યું. 

પાટણના હારીજનું જશવંતપુરાગામ. ગામના સ્મશાન અને કબ્રસ્તાનમાં અમે 4000 વૃક્ષો અનુહફાર્માની મદદથી વાવ્યા. આભાર અનુહફાર્મા. આદરણીય બીપીનભાઈ અને પરિવારજનોનો..  આ વૃક્ષોનું અમે ત્રણ વર્ષ સુધી જતન કરીશું.

આમ હવે વૃક્ષ ઉછેરનું અમારુ અભીયાન પાટણમાં પણ શરૃ થયું. 

ગામના સરપંચે સામે ચાલીને વૃક્ષો વાવી ઉછેરવા અમને આમંત્રણ આપ્યું. એમણે બનાસકાંઠાના શિયા અને ટોટાણાગામના સ્મશાનમાં અમે ઉછેરેલા વૃક્ષો જોયા બસ એ જોઈને પોતાના ગામમાં પણ આવું સુંદર કાર્ય થાય એ માટે અમને આમંત્રણ આપ્યું. અને અમે સરસ વૃક્ષો કર્યા. 

કેટલાક કામો નિરંતર કરવા પડે. એમાં આળસ કરીએ તો ચાલે નહીં. જેમ કે જમવું, ચાલવું.. આ કાર્યો જેમ નિત કરવા પડે એજ રીતે પર્યાવરણના કામો પણ નીત - નિરંતર કરવા પડે. બસ આપણે એ માટે કટીબદ્ધ થઈએ એ ઈચ્છનીય...

"During monsoon we had to put cotton in the ears of the children &  then tie the ears with cloth & make them sleep. Many times while cooking, small black caterpillars would fall in the cooking vessel. What to do ? It would be nauseating to see them pile up. But we are helpless. We do not have a concrete house and who does not wish that ? But we are "Bhartharis" and our whole life we just played a primitive musical instrument & sang Bhajans and lived on whatever society gave us. We never could have surplus money so could not build or own a house. It is my desire that I have my own house with a foreground. My parents & grandparents also wished that they had their own house. Their wish remained unfulfilled. But because of Tohidbhai from VSSM our wish has been fulfilled"

This was said by Bhikhiben Bharthari of Raigadh village in Sabarkantha.

In 2017, the ration cards of these people staying in temporary structures became APL from BPL. In BPL one gets more food grains which is very important for them. Met Tohidbhai at the Collector's office while resolving the row related to BPL cards.

We got the BPL Ration Cards done. Also after much effort, the land was allotted for these families thanks to the co-operation of the panchayat. On this plot of land , the houses will be constructed. I went to the settlement to decide what type of houses they wanted. I was welcomed very warmly. They said they wanted roofed homes. Roofed home with one room, kitchen, toilet, bathroom would be quite expensive. The families said Rs 1.32 lakhs will come from Government, VSSM well wishers will contribute and the balance amount would be contributed by Villagers. They said they would not like to have houses free. What a noble thought.

Donation came from Dr Nitin Suman Shah's Heart Foundation. I am grateful to Dr Nitinbhai.

We decided to start the work immediately. We will get the foundation work done as soon as the rains stop. The Prime Minister's resolve, administration's support and society come together, the houses will definitely be constructed.

Many thanks to the administration of Sabarkantha. With their kind feelings this work was done.

 'ચોમાસામાં તો છોકરાંઓને કાનમાં રૃ નાખી કપડુ બાંધીને ઊંઘાડવા પડે.  ઘણી વખત રસોઈ કરતી વખતે છાપરાં ઉપરથી આ ચુડેલો(નાની કાળી ઈયળ) રાંધવાનું રાંધતા હોય એમાં પડે. શું કરવાનું? એમનો ઢગલો જોઈને ચીતરી ચડે પણ શું કરીએ? પોતાનું ઘર એ પણ પાક્કુ થાય એની હોંશ કોને ન હોય પણ અમે રહ્યા ભરથરી આખી જીંદગી રાવણહથ્થો વગાડી હાલરડાં ને ભજન ગાઈને સમાજ જે આપે તેના પર નભ્યા. પૈસા ટકાની ઝાઝી સગવડ અમારી પાસે ન મળે એટલે અમે પોતે ઘર કરી શકીએ એવી સ્થિતિયે નહીં. પણ સાચુ કહુ મારી બહુ ઈચ્છા મારો ચોકો (મૃત્યુ સમયે ઘરના આંગણામાં કે ઘરમાં મૃતદેહને ગાયના છાણનું લીંપણ કરીને સુવડાવે તે) મારી પોતાની જગ્યા, મારા ઘરમાં થાય એવી હતી. મારા જેવી ઈચ્છા અમારા મા-બાપે એમના મા-બાપે કરી હશે. પણ કોઈની ફળી નહીં. પણ આ તોહીદભાઈ(VSSMના કાર્યકર)ના પ્રતાપે મારી ફળી.

સાબરકાંઠાના રાયગઢના ભીખીબહેન ભરથરીએ આ વાત કરી. 

2017માં છાપરાંમાં રહેતા આ પરિવારોના રેશનકાર્ડ BPL માંથી APL થઈ ગયા. BPL રેશનકાર્ડમાં તેમને અનાજ વધારે મળે જે એમના માટે મોટો આધાર સમુ. વળી એમની સ્થિતિ તો જેવી હતી એવી જ હતી તો BPL રેશનકાર્ડમાંથી તેમના કાર્ડ APL કેવી રીતે થયા? એની રાવ લઈને કલેક્ટર કચેરીએ ગયા ને ત્યાં તોહીદભાઈ સાથે ભેટો થયો. 

રાશનકાર્ડ તો અમે BPL કરાવી આપ્યા. સાથે તેમને રહેવા જમીન મળે તે માટે પણ મથ્યા. આખરે પંચાયતની લાગણીના લીધે આ પરિવારોને પ્લોટ ફળવાયા.

હવે આ પ્લોટ પર ઘર બંધાશે.

કેવા ઘર બાંધવા એની વાત કરવા વસાહતમાં ગઈ. એમણે સુંદર સ્વાગત કર્યું. પછી ધાબાવાળા ઘર કરજોનું કહ્યું.

ધાબાવાળા વળી એક રૃમ રસોડુ, ટોયલેટ, બાથરૃમવાળા ઘર બાંધવા ઘણા પૈસા થાય. તો આ પરિવારોએ કહ્યું, સરકારના 1.32 આવશે. VSSM મદદ કરે ને અમે પણ થોડા કાઢીશું. સાવ મફતનું અમારે નથી જોઈતું. કેવી અદભૂત લાગણી. 

સરકાર, આ પરિવારોની પોતાની રકમ ઉપરાંતની મદદ હાર્ટ ફાઉન્ડેશન- ડો. નિતીન સુમન શાહ કરશે. આદરણીય નિતીનભાઈની આ લાગણી માટે આભારી છું.

ઝટ કાર્ય શરૃ કરવાનું નક્કી કર્યું છે. બસ વરસાદ થોડા ખમૈયા કરે તો પાયા ખોદાઈ જાય ને કામ ચાલુ થઈ જાય. 

પણ ઘર વગરના તમામ પરિવારોને ઘર આપવાનો વડાપ્રધાન શ્રીનો સંકલ્પ વહીવટીતંત્ર અને સમાજ સાથે આવે તો ચોક્કસ પૂર્ણ થાય.

સાબરકાંઠા વહીવટીતંત્રનો પણ આભાર. એમની લાગણીથી આ કાર્ય થઈ શક્યું.

 "Shambhu studies in my school. However he remains absent most of the days. He remains present just 5-6 days in a month. I went to see Shambhu at his house to find out the reason why he remains absent. What I saw was shocking" Parasbhai is a sympathetic & sensitive teacher in a medium school in Gutal Village in Kheda District. What Parasbhai described made us go to Shambhu's house.

Shambhu's father expired when he was just 3 months old. He was running a tyre puncture repair shop. He had cancer & was detected at a very last stage and there was no time left to treat him. Shambhu's mother was young so her father in law got her remarried to another person.  It was decided that after the mother is settled she will take Shambhu with her. Unfortunately that did not happen as even his mother expired when Shambhu was just 1.5 years old. Shambhu became an orphan when only 1.5 years old.

When Shambhu's father was detected with cancer, Shambhu fell ill. It was detected that he suffered from a disease which reduced his protein levels. It would take a long time to treat this illness. Shambhu's grandparents both worked as labourers on the farm. With their earnings they barely managed to survive. Also they had to keep some cash handy because Shambhu required to be taken to the hospital all of a sudden. Sometimes he even had to be admitted to the hospital.  Financially they were in a very precarious situation. The old couple stayed in a temporary structure with just a shed in Gutal. No vehicles even can reach there. They kept some goats with them in the shed. The shed got dark even during the day. 

Someone told the grandfather to take Shambhu to a kidney hospital in Ahmedabad. Shambhu's treatment is ongoing at that hospital. It is free but there are expenses of travelling & food. The money was spent in food and there was no saving to build a proper home.

The Grandparents were more than 65 years old. They could not work but yet had to take care of Shambhu. Shambhu is now 14 years old. For another 4 years till he is 18 , the grandparents will have to take care & run around for Shambhu.

The grandparents badly wanted a concrete home. It was their desire for so many years. We decided to construct a house for them. Also helped him (Dada) set up some work which he could do without running around. He said that he can do the work of puncture repairs which his son used to do but he doesn't have money to buy equipment to start the puncture repair shop. We decided to help him for that too. Even Shambhu wants to work in the puncture repair shop. Amazing family. Quite contended.  We also helped in getting the "Antyodaya" card for the family. Now they get more food grains from the ration shop. Our colleague Rajnibhai & Mamlatdar Smt Jaiminiben helped in getting the "Antyodaya" Card without delay. We also decided to give them a food kit so that they do not have to worry about food.  Once Dada's puncture business is set he may not even need a food kit from us.

We do not like to ask the caste of the person whom we help. However after I saw Dada , I somehow felt that I knew him. So when I asked him his caste, he said " Baraiya". It reminded me of Pandit Ravishankar Maharaj. Panditji has worked a lot for Baraiyas. When we were leaving, Dada offered us some dried spices.  We refused, telling him to keep them so that they could be sold for some money. He said that this is for school children but for the last couple of days he could not go to school.

What can we say ? Dada doesn't have much to donate but out of whatever little he had he was magnanimous to give to the society. Salute to him for this wonderful attitude.

Many thanks to Parasbhai. He was Shambhu's favourite teacher. Parasbhai was a perfect example of how an ideal teacher should be. I will write more about him later. I am sure every school in the country would love to have a teacher like him. 

Kheda is very prosperous. Can we not build a home for Shambhu ? Just Rs 1.5 lakhs will build a home for him. Dada's dream will also come true. Lets all together build Shambhu's home.

ખેડા વાસીઓ જોગ.... 

'શંભુ મારી નિશાળમાં ભણે પણ એ મહિનામાં માંડ પાંચ સાત દિવસ હાજર રહી શકે. સતત ગેરહાજર રહેવાનું કારણ જાણવા હું શંભુના ઘરે ગયો ને જે જોયું એનાથી હલી જવાયું..'

પારસભાઈ ખેડાના ગુતાલની માધ્યમીકશાળાના એકદમ સંવેદનશીલ શિક્ષક. એમણે શંભુની  જે સ્થિતિ જોઈ એ અમને વર્ણવી ને અમે પહોંચ્યા શંભુના ઘરે.

શંભુ ત્રણ મહિનાનો હતો ત્યારે એના પિતા ગુજરી ગયા. ગામમાં એ ટાયર પંક્ચરની દુકાન ચલાવતા. એમને કેન્સર થયેલું પણ ખબર છેલ્લી ઘડીએ પડી. શંભુના દાદા કહે, 'કુદરતે એની સારવાર કરાવવાનો પણ વખત ન આપ્યો.'

શંભુની મા જુવાન એ આખી જિંદગી રંડાપો વેઠે એ શંભુના દાદાને ગમે એવું નહોતું. એમણે એને સમજાવીને બીજે વળાવી. પોતે પિતા તરીકે એનું કન્યાદાન કર્યું. વહુએ કહેલું કે, શંભુને એ એક વખત બધુ ગોઠવાઈ જશે પછી લઈ જશે. પણ એવું થયું નહીં. શંભુ દોઢેક વર્ષનો થયો હશે ત્યાં એની મા માંદગીમાં પટકાઈ પછી ઊભી જ ન થઈ.

આમ શંભુ મા-બાપ વગરનો થયો. 

શંભુના પિતા ગુજરી ગયા એ વખતે શંભુ ખુબ બિમાર પડ્યો. દવાખાને લઈ ગયા ત્યારે ખ્યાલ આવ્યો કે એના શરીરમાંથી પ્રોટીન ઘટી જાય છે. વળી આ બિમારી લાંબી ચાલવાની. શંભુના દાદા અને દાદી બેય ખેતમજૂરી કરે. હખડડખળ ઘર ચાલે. એમાં શંભુને ગમે ત્યારે હોસ્પીટલ લઈને દોડવાનું થાય એટલે એ પૈસા સાથે જ રાખવા પડે. 

આર્થિક રીતે દાદા સાવ ઘસાઈ ગયા. હાલ એ છાપરાંમાં રહે. ગુતાલના કોઈ પરામાં એમનું આ છાપરુ.. વાહન પણ ત્યાં ન જાય. આ છાપરામાં દાદા થોડી બકરીઓ રાખે તે પણ બાંધેલી. આખુ છાપરુ સખત અંધારીયું. 

દાદા ને કોઈએ અમદાવાદ કીડની હોસ્પીટલમાં શંભુને લઈ જવા કહ્યું ને હાલ શંભુની ત્યાં સારવાર ચાલે. દર મહિને હોસ્પીટલ જવાનું. ક્યારેક દાખલ થવાનું પણ સ્થિતિ ગંભીર થાય તો કરવું પડે. 

સારવાર મફત થાય પણ ત્યાં જવા આવવાના ખર્ચા ને સારવાર પછી શંભુ લેવાઈ જાય તે એને થોડું સરખુ ખવડાવવું પણ પડે ને... આમાં બચત તો શક્ય જ નહોતી. એટલે ઘર પણ ન થયું. 

દાદા દાદીની ઉંમરેય 65 વર્ષથી વધુની થઈ. કામ થાય નહીં છતાં શંભુ માટે દોડવું પડે. 

શંભુ હાલ 14 વર્ષનો થયો.18 પછી એની સારવાર એ રીતે થશે કે પછી હોસ્પીટલના દોડા બંધ અથવા ઓછા થઈ જશે પણ ત્યાં સુધી દાદાના માથે ભાર..

દાદાની ઈચ્છા એક રૃમનું ઘર થાય એવી વર્ષોની. એમની સ્થિતિ જોઈને ઘર બાંધી આપવાનું તો નક્કી કર્યું જ. સાથે દાદા બેઠા બેઠા કાંઈ કામ આવડે તો એ કરવા મદદ કરીએનું પુછ્યું તો એમણે કહ્યું, 'ટાયર પંચરની દુકાન થઈ શકે. મારા દીકરો એ કરતો. એ મને ફાવે. પણ મારી પાસે એ શરૃ કરવા જે સાધનો લાવવા પડે એના પૈસા નથી.'

અમે એમાં પણ મદદ કરીશું.

શંભુને પણ મોટા થઈને ટાયર પંચરની દુકાન પર એના પિતા કામ કરતા એમ કરવું છે. 

ગજબ પરિવાર એકદમ સંતોષી.

આ પરિવારને અંત્યોદય કાર્ડ મળે તે માટે અમારા કાર્યકર રજનીભાઈએ નડિયાદ મામલતદાર શ્રી જૈમિનીબેનને વાત કરીને એમણે તુરત કાર્ડ કાઢી આપ્યું. હવે વધારે અનાજ મળશે. અમે પોતે પણ દર મહિને રાશનકીટ આપીશું જેથી એમને નિરાંત રહે. આમ તો ધંધો સેટ થઈ જશે પણ કદાચ અમારી કીટની એમને જરૃર નહીં રહે પણ ત્યાં સુધી કરીશું. 

આમ તો ક્યારેય કોઈ વ્યક્તિને એમની જાતિ પુછવી ગમે નહીં પણ કાકાને મળ્યા પછી જાણે ઘણા વખતથી ઓળખતી હોવું એ લાગ્યું. છેવટે પુછ્યું દાદા તમારી જ્ઞાતિ કઈ ને દાદાએ કહ્યું,  'બારૈયા..'

પૂ. રવીશંકર મહારાજ(દાદા) યાદ આવ્યા. દાદાએ બારૈયાઓ માટે ઘણું કામ કરેલું... અમે એની વાત કરી નીકળી રહ્યા હતા ત્યાં દાદાએ અમને રોક્યા ને કહ્યું,

 'કોકડીઓ લેતા જાવ..'

રાયણની સુકવણીને કોકડી કહે, મે કહ્યું, 'રાખો દાદા તમે વેચશો તો પૈસા મળશે..'

એમણે કહ્યું, 'અરે હોય કાંઈ આ તો નેહાળમાં છોકરાંઓ ખાય એ માટે સુકવેલી. મારે નેહાળ આપવા જવાનું છે પણ સમય નતો મળ્યો. આ બે ચાર દાડામાં આપી આઈશ.'

શું કહેવું?

દાદા બહુ મોટા દાન કરી શકે એવી મૂડી એમની પાસે નથી પણ જે છે એમાંથી એ સમાજને આપવાનું કરે. એમની આ ભાવનાને પ્રણામ કરવા ઘટે..

પારસભાઈનો ઘણો આભાર. શંભુના એ પસંદીદા શિક્ષક.. શિક્ષક કેવા હોવા જોઈએ એનું એ ઉત્તમ ઉ.દા.. એમના વિષે વિગતે ફરી ક્યારેક લખીશ. પણ દેશની દરેક શાળા આવા શિક્ષક ઈચ્છે છે એવું ચોક્કસ કહી શકાય. 

ખેડા બહુ પૈસાદાર વર્ગનો પંથક. શું આપણે શંભુનું ઘર બાંધવામાં મદદ ન કરી શકીએ?

દોઢ લાખ જેટલી રકમ ભેગી કરીએ તો શંભુ ઘરવાળો થઈ જાય. ને શંભુના દાદાનું સ્વપ્ન પણ પૂર્ણ થાય. 

તો ચાલો સાથે મળી પ્રયત્ન કરીએ..

Men fell in love with stones and made beautiful statues & carvings out of it. Men's attention should fall on a particular thing and he will see an opportunity to create something useful & beautiful out of it. There are sadists & distortionists too who have created objects that cause destruction & loss of life. But fortunately the vast majority are creators who made this world a better place to live.

This creation is often out of necessity & sometimes to attain satisfaction & peace of mind.

For centuries, recognising the importance of preserving water led mankind to build wells & lakes. We have been preserving this from time to time.

However, it feels that since last few years men have disrupted the water conservation arrangements. With the result the water levels have gone down and even from such low levels we have removed a lot of water.

To correct this, we have been working in North Gujarat to desilt and excavate the lakes. Since last 7 to 8 years we have been building & desilting lakes. Till now we have built 250 lakes. This was possible because several people joined hands with us.

We at VSSM excavated a lake in Paldi Village of Banaskantha. The entire responsibility of lifting the soil was taken by the villagers. Pralin Public Charitable Trust helped us to excavate. We are extremely grateful to Pralin Public Charitable Trust for helping us in this noble cause which helps preserve lives of people.

Many years ago villagers used lake water only for drinking purposes. Then borewell technology was invented and lakes became not so important. In Paldi village due to indiscriminate use of borewell, the water levels fell to 1100 feet. Villagers realised that water has to percolate inside the land. Else no farming or animal husbandry would be possible. With the support of villagers we desilted the lake. Fortunately raingods blessed and today the lake is full of water again. If there will be intermittent rain , the lake will fill thrice which will help the water levels to rise. 

In 2024 we intend to desilt and excavate 50 such lakes. For that villagers and donors support is required. 

Our team in Banaskantha is very active in locating the villages that need lakes.  We are thankful to Naranbhai, Hareshbhai, Maheshbhai, Ishwarbhai, Ratnabhai & others for their dedicated efforts.

માણસને પથ્થર સાથે પ્રેેમ થયો એટલે એણે શીલ્પનું નિર્માણ કર્યું. બસ માણસનું કોઈ ચીજ પર ધ્યાન પડવું જોઈએ. એમાંથી એ સંભાવનાઓ શોધી કાઢે છે અને કાંઈક નવીનતમ ચીજોનું નિર્માણ કરે છે. હા વિકૃતીવાળા માણસો પણ આ દુનિયામાં છે જેનું ધ્યાન પડે તો વિનાશ સર્જે એવી ચીજોનું નિર્માણ પણ કરે.. જો કે મોટાભાગના તો સર્જન જ કરે. 

આ સર્જન ક્યાંક જરૃરિયાત પ્રમાણે હોય ક્યાં મનને ટાઢક થાય એ માટે પણ હોય. 

માણસે પાણીની જરૃરિયાતને ધ્યાનમાં લઈને તળાવ, કૂવા, વાવ વગેરેનું નિર્માણ સદીઓ પહેલાં કર્યું. આપણે એ બધુ જાળવવાનું પણ વખતો વખત કરતા આવ્યા.

પણ છેલ્લા કેટલાક વર્ષોથી પાણીના બચાવ માટેની આ પરંપરાગત વ્યવસ્થાઓ ખોરવાઈ હોય એવું લાગે. એટલે જ પાણીના તળ દિવસે દિવસે નીચે ગયા.

વળી અમાપ પાણી કાઢવાનું આપણે ઘણું કર્યું. 

ઉત્તર ગુજરાતમાં અમે તળાવો ઊંડા કરવાનું કરીએ. છેલ્લા સાત આઠ વર્ષથી અમે જલમંદિર નિર્માણ કાર્યમાં પ્રવૃત. અત્યાર સુધી 250 તળાવો પૂર્ણ કર્યા. આ બધુ ઘણા સ્વજનો સાથે આવ્યા માટે થઈ શક્યું.

બનાસકાંઠાના પાલડીનું તળાવ VSSM ગાળ્યું. માટી ઉપાડવાનું કામ ગામલોકોએ કર્યું અને ખોદકામ માટે અમને પ્રાલીન પબ્લીક ચેરીટેબલ ટ્રસ્ટે મદદ કરી. સમગ્ર જીવસૃષ્ટિને જીવંત રાખનાર પાણીના કાર્યમાં મદદ કરનાર ટ્રસ્ટના અમે સૌ ઋણી રહીશું.

વર્ષો પહેલાં પાલડીના આ તળાવનું પાણી ગામલોકો પીવા માટે આબાધીત રાખતા. પછી બોરવેલની ટેકનોલોજી આવી અને તળાવની જરૃરિયાત ન રહી. બોરવેલથી તળમાંથી સતત પાણી ખેંચવાના લીધે આજે પાલડીના તળ 1100 ફૂટથી વધુ ઊંડે ગયા. હવે ગામલોકોને સમજાયું કે પાણીને જમીનમાં ઉતારવું પડશે નહીં તો ખેતી કે પશુપાલન કશું નહીં થાય અને બસ ગામના સહયોગથી આ તળાવ ગાળવાનું થયું. મેઘરાજાએ મહેર કરીને તળાવ સરસ ભરાયું. હજુ વરસાદ પોરો ખાતો ખાતો આવે તો તળાવ આ સીઝનમાં ત્રણેક વખત ભરાય તો ભૂર્ગભજળમાં ઘણો ફાયદો થાય. 

આવતા વર્ષે  એટલે 2024માં 50 તળાવો ગાળવાની ભાવના છે. બસ સમાજ સાથે આવે એમ ઈચ્છીએ..

Hiraba as such was a very lucky lady. Since childhood she never had to work in the kitchen because of her elder sister. After marriage, Budhakaka took care of the kitchen.

Hiraba has been visually impaired since birth. So she got sympathy. Her elder sister, out of love, never taught Hiraba any work. She was married off to Budhakaka who was short of normal thinking. He was a happy go lucky person but took good care of his wife Hiraba.

Budhakaka worked on the farm & earned just enough for both to survive. After some time , Budhakaka found it difficult to do manual work on the farm. He had to beg for his living. Hiraba would continuously advise him. 

Budhakaka would often forget his way when he went out. In a very bad state our colleague Rajnibhai accidentally met him. He brought Budhakaka home & understood the situation.  We decided to give them a ration kit. Along with that we also applied and got him Government's "Antyoday Card" which entitled him for old age pension. Alongwith our ration kit, life became little comfortable for the old couple. Both lived with each other's support & love. 

When we went to their house, they were very happy & welcomed us & asked what they could do for us. 

Such 490 old & unsupported elders are taken care of by VSSM. We request you to support us in this deserving cause.

Many help us in this cause, but special mention of Dr K R Shroff Foundation is not out of place & for that we are thankful to Shri Pratulbhai Shroff & special gratitude for his constant support.

હીરાબા આમ બહુ નસીબવાળા. નાનપણથી એમના મોટાબહેને એમને ક્યારેય ચુલે રસોઈ કરવા બેસવા ન દીધા ને લગ્ન પછી બુધાકાકાએ પણ એ કામ ન કરવા દીધું.

હીરાબાની આંખોના દિવા જન્મથી જ બુઝાયેલા. એટલે આમ એ થોડું દયાને પાત્ર રહ્યા. પણ બહેને તો પ્રેમવશ જ કામ ન શીખવ્યું. બુધાકાકા થોડા નિજાનંદી. બહુ સુઝબુઝ ન પડે. પણ એમની આંખોમાં રોશની નહોતી એટલે હીરાબા સાથે પરણનાર કોઈ ન મળ્યું. છેવટે થોડી ઓછી સુઝબુઝવાળા બુધાકાકા સાથે એમને પરણાવી દીધા. જો કે બુધાકાકા ભલે નિજાનંદ રહ્યા પણ હીરાબાનું એ ધ્યાન ખુબ રાખે.

બા ક્યાંય મજૂરીએ જઈ ન શકે તે કાકા ખેતરમાં મજૂરી કરે અને બેઉનું પુરુ કરે. એક વખત પછી કાકાથી કામ થવાનું ઓછુ થયું. એટલે કાકા ભીખ માંગવા જાય ને જે લાવે તેમાંથી રસોઈ કરી બાને ખવડાવે. જો કે બાનું માર્ગદર્શન સતતનું.

હવે બુધાકાકા બહાર જાય તો રસ્તો ભૂલી જાય. આવી જ રીતે એક દિવસ બસસ્ટેશને ખુબ ખરાબ હાલતમાં બુધાકાકા અમારા કાર્યકર રજનીભાઈને મળી ગયા. રજનીભાઈ એમને ઘરે લઈ આવ્યા. ને સ્થિતિ સમજ્યા પછી રાશનકીટ આપવાનું નક્કી કર્યું.

અમે રાશનકીટ તો આપીયે સાથે સરકાર અંત્યોદય કાર્ડ આપે તે માટે પણ પ્રયત્નો આદર્યા ને કાર્ડ મળ્યું. બાકી વૃદ્ધ પેન્શન એમને મળે. આવામાં રાશનકીટ મળતા હવે તેમને ઘણી રાહત છે. 

બેઉં એકબીજાના સહારે જીવે. એકબીજા માટે હેત વર્ષાવે. 

અમે જ્યારે ઘરે ગયા ત્યારે  તમારી શું મનવાર કરુ એવી એમની લાગણી હતી. 

આવા 490 બા દાદાઓ કે જેઓ નિરાધાર છે તેમની ચાકરી કરનાર કોઈ નથી તેમને દર મહિને રાશન આપવાનું આપ સૌ સ્વજનોની મદદથી અમે કરીએ. તમે પણ આ કાર્યમાં મદદ કરી શકો એમના પાલક બની શકો..

આ કાર્યમાં ઘણા સ્વજનો મદદ કરે પણ ડો, કે.આર.શ્રોફ ફાઉન્ડેશન એક સાથે 154 માવતરોને રાશન આપે. આદરણીય પ્રતુલભાઈ શ્રોફનો એ માટે ઘણો આભાર. એ સિવાય ઘણા સ્વજનો મદદ કરે બધાના નામો નથી લખી શકતી પણ પ્રતુલભાઈની હૂંફ મોટી. તેમના પ્રત્યે કૃતજ્ઞતા..

"Our relationship with our huts is like that of a mud-stone & a leaf"

Shri Maheshbhai from Rafareshwar village in Morbi District said this. We could not understand what he meant so we asked him to explain what he meant. . He said that mud-stone & leaf are always together.

They are like close friends. One cannot do without the other. When wind blows with strength, the mudstone sits on the leaf and saves the leaf. When it rains, the leaf sits on the mud-stone & saves the  mud-stone.

However, when there is a thunderstorm with rain neither can save the other. Our relationship with our huts is like that. When it rains, it saves us and when there is a strong wind we hold the ropes of the hut tightly and save the hut.

But when there is a thunderstorm with rain neither of us can protect the other.

Maheshbhai enumerated this disastrous anecdote with a laugh. For years these families stay in huts in the outskirts of Morbi. In the hope that one day they will get a permanent place to stay they continue to dwell there. 

However they have no resources to buy the land nor do they have any idea how to go about getting the benefits from the government.

We at VSSM noticed their plight. Our colleagues and co-workers, Kanubhai & Chhayaben helped prepare their application for land for constructing houses on it. However the plot allotment was not happening.  CM Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel is very sympathetic & helpful towards the work we are doing. With his instructions & collector's support allotment happened. In Jambudiya village 119 families will benefit from it. Their happiness could not be hidden. They will now get a proper roof over their heads. However, people from nearby places have put pressure on administration to not allot the plot.The dream to own houses seem to remain a dream for these people.We are making a strong representation to the collector and other officers not to obstruct and grant permission at the earliest. We are hopeful that we get an affirmative reply from the admin soon.

I will definitely tell the people from Jambudiya who are objecting that it is very wrong to claim ownership of land which has been rightfully allotted to these homeless people.

I earnestly wish that these nomads soon get this land for their houses.

'ઢેફા અને પાંદડાને એકબીજા હારે જેવો સંબંધ અમારે એવો સંબંધ અમારા ઝૂંપડા હારે!'

મોરબીના રફાળેશ્વરના મહેશભાઈએ અમને આ વાત કરી. જો કે અમને આ મોઘમ વાત સમજાણી નહીં. અમે એમને ઢેફુ અને પાંદડાની વાત સમજાવવા કહ્યું ત્યારે એમણે કહ્યું, પાંદડુ અને ઢેફુ જોડાજોડ રહે બેયને જબરી દોસ્તી. પવન જબરો ફૂંકાય ત્યારે ઢેફુ પાંદડા પર બેસી જાય અને પાંદડાને બચાવે અને વરસાદ વરસે ત્યારે પાંદડુ ઢેફા પર બેસી જાય ને ઢેફાને બચાવે. પણ જ્યારે વાવાઝાડો સાથે વરસાદ આવે ત્યારે બેમાંથી એકેય એકબીજાને બચાવી ન શકે. 

અમારો સંબંધ આ ઝૂંપડાં હારે એવો. વરસાદ આવે ત્યારે ઝૂંપડુ અમને બચાવે. પવન આવે ત્યારે ઝૂંપડાના દોરડા પકડી અમે બેસી જઈએ અને ઝૂંપડાને અમે બચાવીએ પણ જ્યારે વાવાઝોડા હારે વરસાદ આવે ત્યારે અમે બેય એકબીજાને બચાવી ન શકીએ. આ અમારી જિંદગી..'

વિપદાની વાત મહેશભાઈએ હસતા હસતા કહી. વર્ષોથી આ પરિવારો ઝૂંપડા બાંધી મોરબી આસપાસના વિસ્તારોમાં રહે. પોતાને કાયમી જગ્યા મળે જ્યાંથી કોઈ એમને ખાલી ન કરાવે એવી મેળવવાની આશા વર્ષોની પણ એ ખરીદવાની ક્ષમતા નહીં. સરકાર ગરીબ પરિવારોને પ્લોટ આપે પણ એ માટે શું કરવું એ સમજાય નહીં.

VSSM ના ધ્યાને આ પરિવારો આવ્યા. અમારા કાર્યકર કનુભાઈ, છાયાબહેને તેમને રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ મળે તે માટેની અરજીઓ તૈયાર કરી કચેરીમાં આપી.

પણ પ્લોટ ફાળવણીનું કાર્ય થાય નહીં. રાજ્યના મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી ભુપેન્દ્રભાઈ પટેલ અમારા કાર્યોમાં ખુબ લાગણી રાખે. મદદ પણ કરે. તેમની સૂચનાથી અને કલેક્ટર શ્રીની લાગણીથી 119 પરિવારોને જાંબુડિયામાં રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ ફળવાયા. 

આ પરિવારોનો હરખ સમાતો નહોતો. હવે અમે પાક્કા ઘરવાળા થાશું એ સમણું એ જોવા માંડ્યા. ત્યાં એમણે જે જગ્યા ફળવાઈ ત્યાં આજુબાજુના લોકોએ દબાણ કરી દીધાનું જાણ્યું.

પોતાના ઘરનું સમણું રોળાતુ આ પરિવારોને જણાઈ રહ્યું છે. અમે કલેકટર શ્રી તેમજ સંલગ્ન તમામ અધિકારીઓને આ બાબત ધ્યાને લઈ જમીનનો કબજો આપવા રજૂઆત કરી છે. આશા રાખીએ હકારાત્મક પરિણામ મળે.

અને જાંબુડિયાની જમીન પર દબાણ કરનાર લોકોને પણ કોઈને મળેલા આશરા પર પોતાનો હક ખોટી રીતે દર્શાવવો એ ધરમ નથી એવું ચોક્કસ કહીશ. 

વર્ષોથી વગડો ખૂંદતા પરિવારોને પોતાની જમીન સત્વરે મળે તેવું ઈચ્છીએ...

"This Cyclone has caused much destruction. Fortunately, it also brought rain. We wait for rain like we wait for God. In Banaskantha it rains once in 2 - 3 years. This year in June itself our lake is full." A villager in

Baloghar said this. We all have heard about the damage a cyclone can cause. However, if there is no water how will life survive? Farmers of Banaskantha know this.  The tragedy of the cyclone was mitigated by the rain that blessed the village.

The farmers always used to tell me  that our Banaskantha district needs floods. I always used to tell them not to mention floods as it can cause tremendous damage. The villagers would say the loss would be compensated by lakes getting full with water. With water levels receding to 800-1200 feet below, villagers are finding cyclones & floods also beneficial.  In 2015 & in 2017 Banaskantha had floods but then the villagers were not equipped with storage facilities.

When we at VSSM  initiated the mission of excavating the lakes, the villagers were not supportive at all. They did not want to partner with us. However since the last 7 years the situation has changed for the better. . Villagers on their own have started the work of deepening the lakes. Many lakes in the District are now ready to accept more water.  VSSM has worked on over 250 water reservoirs.

I Wish this year the rain fall is steady over a long period of time so that water can go deeper inside the soil. 

In the photograph that you see are two lakes of which one is done with the help of Star Chemicals and the other is with the help of Inter Gold Diamond Pvt Ltd . Both the lakes are full with water. Since this region does not get the benefit of Narmada water, lakes are their only saviours.

We pray that nature will be kind to the villagers. We are thankful to the villagers and both the companies. With their help the lakes will remain full of water.

'આ વાવાઝોડુ માર બેટુ નુકશોની ઘણું કરીન જ્યું. પણ વરસાદેય આલીન જ્યું. વરસાદની અમે ભગવોન ઘોડે વાટ જોઈએ. ઓમેય બનાસકોઠામાં જોવ એવો વરસાદ બે તૈઈણ વરસે એક ફેરા પડ. આ વરસે તો જુનમોં જ આ વાવાઝોડાના પરતાપે અમાર ગોમનું તળાવ ભરઈ જ્યું.'

બલોઘરગામના એક ખેડૂતની આ વાત. વાવઝોડાની નુકશાની ખેડુત અને આપણે સૌ જાણીયે. પણ પાણી નહીં હોય તો જીવાશે કેમના એ બનાસકાંઠાના અમુક વિસ્તારના ખેડૂતો બરાબર જાણે એટલે ખેડૂતે વાવાઝોડના દુઃખની સાથે આવેલા વરસાદના વધામણા આપ્યા.

આમ તો ઘણી વખત ખેડૂતો કહેતા, બેન આપણા વિસ્તાર(બનાસકાંઠા)માં એક પુરની જરૃર છે. એમના મોંઢા આ સાંભળુ ત્યારે કહુ, એવું ન બોલાય. નુકશાન કેટલું થાય? ત્યારે એ લોકો કહે, નુકશાન તો બરાબર પણ તળ તો ભરાય.

800 થી 1200 ફૂટ ભૂગર્ભજળ પહોંચ્યા છે એટલે ખેડૂતોને વાવાઝોડા અને પુરેય સારા લાગે છે. કારણ એમાં પાણી મળે છે. આમ તો પુર 2015 અને 2017માંય બનાસકાંઠામાં આવ્યું પણ એ વખતે ખેડૂતોએ પોતાના પાણી ભરવા માટેના વાસણો સાબદા નહોતા રાખ્યા. 

અમે જ્યારે આ વિસ્તારમાં તળાવ ગળાવવાની ઝૂંબેશ ઉપાડી ત્યારે કોઈને તળાવ ગળાવવું નહોતું. ભાગીદારી તો કરવી જ નહોતી. પણ છેલ્લા સાતેક વર્ષની સતત મહેનતથી આજે સ્થિતિ બદલાઈ છે. લોકો હવે સ્વયંમ તળાવ ગળાવે છે. ઘણી સંસ્થાઓ પણ તળાવના કાર્યો કરવા માંડી છે. એટલે ઘણા ગામોમાં પાણીના વાસણો એટલે કે તળાવો સાબદા થઈ ગયા છે. VSSM એ પોતે પણ 250 તળાવ ગાળ્યા છે.

બસ આ વર્ષે હવે કુદરતી કોઈ જ હોનારત વગર મેઘરાજા મહેર કરે એમ ઈચ્છીએ એ પણ સતત કરતા ખમૈયા કરતા કરતા આવે તો વધારે સારુ જેથી તળાવમાં ભરાયેલા પાણી જમીનમાં ઉતરતા જાય.

ફોટોમાં દેખાય એ બલોઘણના બે તળાવ જેમાંનું એક અમે સ્ટાર કેમીકલ્સ.ની મદદથી અને બીજુ ઈન્ડર ગોલ્ડ ડાયમન્ડ પ્રા.લી.ની મદદથી ખોદ્યું. બેય તળાવ સરસ ભરાયા. આ ગામને આમ તો વિસ્તારને નર્મદા કેનાલનો લાભ નથી મળતો એમના માટે તળાવો જ એમના ઉદ્ધારક.. 

કુદરત જળવિહોણા વિસ્તારોમાં મહેર કરે તેવી પ્રાર્થના ને ગ્રામજનો તેમજ બંને કંપનીઓનો આભાર. તેમની મદદથી બલોઘણના તળ પાણીવાળા થશે..

Whenever a feeling of arrogance overcomes you, just take a walk in the nearby cemetery and think that people cleverer and more successful than you are reduced to ashes or are buried here.

For attaining "Moksh" ( emancipation) or "Swarg" (heaven) we worship every stone as if it's  God but fail to apply our mind to benevolent work during the lifetime.  This sentence tells a lot about the human-being's nonchalant  attitude..

Imagine a world without poverty, without environment destruction, with greenery everywhere & with lakes full of water. Does this not feel like heaven? We can experience heaven during our lifetime rather than just imagining

heaven after death which no one has actually seen. To see heaven on earth requires efforts. If the entire humanity starts working towards it, it is possible.  We at VSSM have already commenced working towards it.

We are optimistic.

We at VSSM work with the deprived community, we work towards building lakes to resolve water scarcity, we plant trees to resolve environment degradation.

In the cemetery in Totaana Village in Banaskantha District , we planted 2500 trees. A local resident of the village,  Shri Jeevankaka,  plays his role as friend of the trees to perfection. He takes care of the trees planted in the cemetery. When village administration supplies water at night, Jeevankaka goes to the cemetery in the middle of night to water the trees. This is his sincerity and love for the work that he is doing. He looks forward to the day when the trees will grow big, birds will build nests in it. He says that he will get satisfaction for having created a small heaven on earth.

ક્યારેક કોઈ વસ્તુનો ઘમંડ આવી જાય તો સ્મશાન કે કબ્રસ્તાનમાં એક ચક્કર મારી આવવું. આપણાં કરતા પણ હોંશિયાર માણસો ત્યાં રાખ થઈને પડ્યા છે..

ક્યાંક વાંચેલું આ વાક્ય ઘણું બધું કહી જાય છે. માણસ તરીકે સ્વર્ગ પ્રાપ્તી માટે કે મોક્ષ મેળવવા પથ્થર એટલા દેવ કરીએ પણ ખરુ અને કરવા જેવું કાર્ય પરોપકારનું. જેમાં ખાસ મન ન પરોવીએ.

 દુનિયામાં ગરીબી ન હોય. પર્યાવરણની જે માઠી દશા આજે આપણે કરી છે તેવી માઠી દશા ન હોય. બધે હરિયાળી પથરાયેલી હોય, આપણા જળાશયો પાણીથી ભરેલા હોય તો સ્વર્ગની અનુભૂતી અહીંયા જ થવાની. મર્યા પછીના સ્વર્ગની માત્ર કલ્પનાઓ છે જોયું કોઈએ નથી.. છતાં એ મેળવવા એને કેન પ્રકારેે પ્રયત્નો...

પણ પ્રશ્ન શું આપણે આપણી ધરતીને જ સ્વર્ગ જેવી ન બનાવી શકીએ? 

એક સાથે માનવજાત આખી સંકલ્પ કરે તો આ થઈ શકે એ ચોક્કસ છે..

ખેર આ આશાવાદ છે.. બાકી અમે તો અમારી રીતે પ્રયત્ન શરૃ કરી દીધા છે. 

VSSM ટીમ તકવંચિતોને જે રીતે થાય તે રીતે મદદ કરે સાથે પાણીની ચિંતા કરી તળાવો પણ કરીએ અને હરિયાળી ધરતી માટે વૃક્ષો વાવીએ...

બનાસકાંઠાનું ટોટાણાગામનું કબ્રસ્તાન. 2500 વૃક્ષો ત્યાં વાવ્યા. અમારા જીવણકાકા ત્યાં વૃક્ષમિત્ર તરીકે ફરજ બજાવે એ બધા વૃક્ષોની જબરી કાળજી કરે. વૃક્ષોને પંચાયત દ્વારા રાત્રે પાણી આપવામાં આવે તો એ રાત્રે કબ્રસ્તાનમાં જાય ને વૃક્ષોને પાણી સિંચે. એમની આ ધગશ. એ કહે, વૃક્ષો મોટા થશે એના પર પક્ષીઓ ઘર બાંધશે, એમના જીવને સાતા થશે ને જે આશિ બોલશે એ મારી સાથે આવશે બાકી બધું તો અહીંયા રહેવાનું...

કેવી મજાની વાત..

વાશી પરિવારે અમને આ વૃક્ષો ઉછેરવા મદદ કરી. તેમના અમે આભારી છીએ..

Today, several tree plantation projects will be launched at multiple places.  Thousands of young & delicate saplings will be sowed to mark the World Environment Day. A great act but what follows is tragedy.  A vast majority of them will in couple of days be deprived of life-giving water.  Young saplings will yearn desperately for water but there is none who would quench their thirst. Like a small human baby, it will cry, it will get sad & it will get tired eagerly waiting for someone to give water. But people who sowed have moved on and there is none to take care of this young sapling. They are abandoned. Without water, without oxygen it will wither and die. A case of infant mortality. Isn’t this as serious as infanticide?

Our soil is dry and bereft of water. The sowed sapling does not get any nutrition from the soil for it to grow on its own. It needs a life-line of water to survive. Imagine a mother giving up on the new born baby. Imagine a mother telling her new born that her job of giving birth is done and from now on you will have to take care of yourself. What will a child do?  It cannot even move on its own, how will it take care of its life to survive without mother’s support? Same with baby saplings.

That is why I have repeatedly said that to sow a plant is easy. To take care & nurture it is difficult. It is better not to sow if you are not in a position to take care of the sapling.  Sow only if you have the time & inclination to take care.  Just for the sake of symbolic photo opportunity, just for the sake of showing the world that you celebrated 5th June, don’t sow. 

This year at VSSM we will plant over 3.5 lakhs trees in our villages. This is not the right time to sow. We will do it after the rains makes its presence. We will also depute a friend of the tree, a caretaker, to take care of the newly planted saplings. 

The shade of our trees will provide comfort to the tired. I can with immense joy show you my pictures with the lovely, sturdy trees that have grown from young & delicate saplings. Even you can do it & show your picture with pride. Please take care of the plantation in a manner that we can inspire our next generation to grow more trees & make this earth a more beautiful place to live. 

THE TREES THAT HAVE GROWN & PROVIDE SHADE IN THE CREMATORIUM, WE ARE ONLY A MEDIUM & WE ARE IMMENSELY HAPPY ABOUT IT. 

#વિશ્વ_પર્યાવરણ_દિવસની ઘણી ઘણી શુભેચ્છા...

આજે ઢગલો કાર્યક્રમ થશે ને કેટલા બાલતરૃની વાવણી થશે. 

જેમાંના મોટાભાગના બાલતરુ બે દિવસ પછી પાણી માટે ટળવળશે, એ જોરથી રડશે, થાકશે ને ઉદાસ થઈ કોઈ પાણી આપશેની વાટે જોશે.. 

પણ વાવણી કરનાર મોટાભાગના એના તરફ ફરકશે નહીં. આખરે ઓક્સિજન વગર, પાણી વગર માણસ કેવો ટળવળે એમ ટળવળશે ને પછી મૃત્યુ પામશે.

શું આ પાપ ભ્રુણહત્યા જેટલું જ મોટું નથી?

આપણી જમીનમાં એવો ભેજ નથી કે વાવેલું બચ્ચુ જાતે એ ભેજ વાટે મોટુ થઈ જાય?

બાળકને જન્મ આપ્યા પછી મા બાળકને એવું કહી દે કે, આજથી તારી પીપી ને પોર્ટી જાતે જોઈ લેવાની, ખાઈ પણ જાતે લેવાનું? તો એ બચ્ચુ શું કરશે? એ તો બાપડુ પડખુયે માની મદદ વગર ન ફેરવી શકે એ ક્યાંથી આ કરવાનું..

બાલતરુનુ પણ આજ..

એટલે જ વારંવાર કહુ, વાવવું સહેલું પણ ઉછેરવું મુશ્કેલ પણ એજ અગત્યનું..

એટલે વાવતા પહેલાં ભ્રુણને યાદ કરજો... ને ઉછેરવાના હોવ તો જ વાવજો.. બાકી ફોટો પાડવા કે પાંચમી જૂને કાંઈક કર્યું એ બતાવવા બાલતરુ ન વાવતા.

અમે આ વર્ષે અમારા ગ્રામવનમાં 3.5 લાખ વૃક્ષો વાવીશું પણ આજે વાવણીનો સમય નથી.. બરાબર વરસાદ થશે પછી વાવીશું ને વાવ્યા પછી એને ઉછેરવા માણસ રાખીશું. જેથી કાળજી થાય..

અમે વાવેલા વૃક્ષના છાંયે... 

પેલા ગીતની જેમ થોડોક તો વિસામો મને લેવા દે હરી.. 

ને હા મે વાવેલા હું બધા ફોટો સાથે આજે કેવડા થયા એ બતાવી શકુ. તમે પણ એ રીતે બતાવી શકો એ રીતે ઉછેરજો... તો જ આપણે આપણી આવનારી પેઢીને એ બતાવી શકીશું ને એને પણ વૃક્ષ વાવી ઉછેરવા પ્રોત્સાહીત કરી શકીશું. 

વખાના સ્મશાનમાં અમે વાવેલા વૃક્ષોની છાયામાં... બસ અમે તો માધ્યમ.. ને એનો ઘણો રાજીપો..

 If you wish to know water's actual value, ask those with the least access to it!

This statement often falls to our ears, but we got to experience it recently in Poshina.

We were in Poshina block's Chochar village; we met 4-5 men sitting in Rameshbhai's front yard as we walked across his house. VSSM has taken up deepening a  lake in the village and asked if it would benefit them, "if the lake is cleaned and deepened, it will hold more water, and we will experience some water relief. At present, we leave the village as soon as the winters are over. We are here for a ceremony we had to attend here in the village; otherwise, we work as agricultural laborers in Banaskantha,  Patan, Mehsana etc. Some go to work in stone quarries; who wants to leave home in search of work? But this place does not have water; hence we have no choice."

Poshina is a rain-rich region, but the reservoirs to hold all that rainwater need to be improved. As a result, the region experiences a water crisis once the rain waters have been used. It is also a hilly region; hence the check-dams are filled with mud that has been washed away from the hills or were broken,  as everywhere else, the lakes had ceased to exist. If intense efforts to conserve water were to be implemented in this region, it would bring lot of relief to its inhabitants.

The farmers here have small land holdings and engage in terrace farming, the wells help irrigate their small farms. But the wells also dry up, and irrigating the farms becomes challenging. As a result of the lack of water, they also do not undertake cattle farming. If the upkeeping of check dams and lakes happens, they would hold water and help recharge the wells.

We discussed all of these while walking to the lake site and held a small meeting there where people requested support to dredge the wells. They wanted to increase the depth of the wells to increase their water-holding capacity. If there is water, it will provide better opportunities for farming. VSSM agreed to support the efforts.

Respected Pratulbhai Shroff – Dr. K R Shroff Foundation and VSSM work in partnership in Poshina. The team of the Shroff Foundation and VSSM's Tohid work hard in the region. This year they have identified  25 lake sites for deepening in the region.

Our state minister, Respected Shri  Rushikeshbhai Patel, helped with the deepening of these lakes under Sujalm Sufalam Scheme hence the project received aid from the government, while Dr K R Shroff Foundation supported the balance amount.

We want to curtain the distress migration from this region, and we will strive to make that happen.

જ્યાં નથી ત્યાં પુછો પાણીની શું કિંમત છે?

આ વાક્ય વારંવાર સાંભળવામાં આવે પણ હમણાં સાબરકાંઠાના પોશીનામાં આ વાક્યને બરાબર અનુભવ્યું.

પોશિના તાલુાકના છોછરગામના રમેશભાઈના ઘર પાસેથી અમે પસાર થયા. એમના ઘરના આંગણામાં ચાર પાંચ પુરુષો બેઠેલા. અમે આ ગામમાં તળાવ ગળાવી રહ્યા હતા. તળાવથી એમને લાભ થશે કે કેમ તે અંગે પુછ્યું, તો કહે, 'તળાવ થાય, પાણી ભરાય તો અમને હખ થઈ જાય. હાલ તો શિયાળો ઉતરતા અમે ગામ છોડી ભાગી જઈએ. આ ગામમાં પ્રસંગ હતો એટલે આવ્યો. બાકી બનાસકાંઠા, પાટણ મહેસાણા બાજરી વાઢવા કે જે મળે તે ખેતમજૂરી કરવા ભાગી જઈએ. કેટલાક પથ્થરની ગાડીઓ ભરાવવા જાય. ઘર છોડી ભાગવું કોને ગમે? પણ અહીંયા પાણી નથી. એટલે મજબૂરીના માર્યા જઈએ.'

પોશીના વિસ્તારમાં વરસાદ સારો પડે.પણ વરસાદી પાણી સંગ્રહ કરવાના જલસ્ત્રોતો બહુ ઊંડા નહીં એટલે આ બધી મુશ્કેલીઓ. પહાડી વિસ્તાર ચેકડેમ પણ માટીથી ભરાઈ ગયેલા. ક્યાંક તૂટેલા પણ ખરા અને તળાવો તો તળાવ જેવા દેખાય જ નહીં. પણ આ વિસ્તારમાં સઘન કામગીરી પાણીને લઈને કરવામાં આવે અને બારે મહિના પાણી મળી રહે તો લોકોને ઘણી રાહત થઈ જાય. 

લોકો પાસે નાની નાની જમીન, પહાડમાં થાય તેવી ઢોળાવવાળી ખેતી કરે. કૂવાથી પીયત કરે. પણ કૂવામાં હોય તો અવાડામાં આવે ને? કૂવામાં પાણી જ ન હોય તો ખેતરમાં પિયત ક્યાંથી થાય. ઢોરને કેવી રીતે પીવડાવે.  જો તળાવો, ચેકડેેમ બરાબર સાફ, ગળાયેલા હોય તો વરસાદી પાણી એમાં બરાબર ભરાય ને એના લીધે લોકોના કૂવા પણ રીચાર્જ થાય. 

આ બધી વાતો કરતા કરતા રમેશભાઈ, સાહેબાભાઈ સાથે અમે તળાવ ગળાઈ રહ્યું હતું તે સ્થળે પહોંચ્યા. ને ત્યાં પાછી એક બેઠક કરી લોકોએ પોતાના કૂવા ગાળવા મદદ કરવા વિનંતી કરી. જો કૂવો વધારે ઊંડો હોય તો પાણી વધારે સમય રહે ને ખેતી, પશુપાલન થાય. માટે આકાર્યમાં પણ મદદ કરવાનું નક્કી કર્યું. 

પોશિનામાં આદરણીય પ્રતુલભાઈ શ્રોફ - ડો. કે.આર.શ્રોફ ફાઉન્ડેશન અને VSSM ભગીની સંસ્થાની જેેમ કામ કરે. ડો.કે.આર.શ્રોફ ફાઉન્ડેશનની ટીમ અને VSSM ના કાર્યકર તોહીદ ટૂંકમાં બધાની જબરી મહેનત એ લોકોએ જ આ વર્ષે 25 તળાવ કરવાની જગ્યાઓ શોધી.

આદરણીય ઋષીકેશભાઈ પેટલ. માનનીય મંત્રી શ્રી એમણે આ તળાવો સુજલામ સુફલામ અભીયાન અંતર્ગત ગળાય તે માટે મદદ કરી. સરકારના પૈસા સિવાયના પૈસા Dr K R Shroff Foundation એ આપ્યા. આમ સૌના સહિયારા પ્રયાસથી સુંદર કામ થઈ રહ્યું છે....

આ વિસ્તારના લોકો સ્થળાંતર કરતા અટકે એ અમારો આશય. બસ એ આશય પુર્ણ થાય તે માટે મથીશું.
