Mittal Patel discusses WaterManagement with villagers

The Sardar Sarovar Dam opened 25 gates this year….signalling it was full to its brim.

In the past whenever the dam overflowed a thought always crossed  my mind, “what if these waters were taken to the parched and thirsty lands of North Gujarat, Saurashtra, Kutchh!!”

The rain helped bring water to lake

Finally the  Chief Minister of Gujarat made an announcement in this regard. The Sujalam Sufalam Canal, Dantiwada Dam and the lakes that had the pipeline for Narmada waters have been filled up with waters from the majestic Narmada.

In Banaskantha people rejoiced like never before. The waters from Narmada as well as the rains showed mercy this year. Deep inside I was fearing the worst. But the rain gods finally gave in.

In the past three years VSSM has facilitated and supported deepening of 87 lakes in Banaskantha.

This year the rains helped bring water to few lakes. One of which is in Suigaum’s Katav village. The picture shared here is only for your reference so it the on the ongoing water sensitization meeting.  The video is of Adhgaum shared by Sureshbhai  this morning. Apart from the rainwater, Narmada waters have also reached the lake.

The rains have brought the much needed cheer in the air. And the Narmada waters filling up the lakes doubled the joy.

Naran, Chirag and Bhagwan can breathe at peace  atlast. It was their efforts and hard work that have  resulted into such massive change in the community’s mindset towards water.

જ્યારે પણ ડેમ ઓવરફ્લો થતો ત્યારે એક વિચાર આવતો આ બધા પાણીને ઉત્તર ગુજરાત, સૌરાષ્ટ્ર અને કચ્છના નપાણિયા વિસ્તારમાં લઈ જવાનું થાય તો કેવું...
આખરે મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રીએ આ અંગે જાહેરાત કરી..
સુજલામ સુફલામ કેનાલ, દાંતીવાડા ડેમ ઉપરાંત જે તળાવોમાં નર્મદા કેનાલની પાઈપ નાંખી હતી તે ભરવાનું સરકારે શરૃ કર્યું....

જો કે વરસાદે પણ લાજ રાખી.. બાકી મનમાં દુકાળ તો નહીં પડે એવો ભય પણ હતો...

જેમાંથી આ વરસાદમાં થોડા ભરાયા જેમાંનું સૂઈગામના કટાવનું એક હતું.. આ કટાવનું તળાવ અમે ખોદ્યું તે પહેલાંની સ્થિતિ ફોટોમાં સમજાય તે ખાતર મુકી છે.
બાકી અધગામનો વિડીયો આજે સવારે સુરેશભાઈએ મોકલાવ્યો.
વરસાદી પાણી ઉપરાંત સરકારે કેનાલથી આ તળાવને ભર્યું..

તળાવ ખોદાવતા પહેલાં ગામલોકો સાથે તળાવ કેમ ખોદાવવું તે સંદર્ભે અમે બેઠકો કરીએ આવી બેઠક અધગામમાં કરી તેનો ફોટો પણ સમજવા ખાતર મુક્યો ..

The Junagadh police crossed their limits…

Mittal Patel meets Bajaniya men 

 On 15th August at 3 AM the police pick up 12 innocent men belonging to a particular nomadic community. The accusation was, they were robbers. After taking them in at 3 in the night they begin beating them until 8 in the morning. They were being compelled to take ownership of the thefts, when that did not happen the beating resumed from 9 in the morning  until 3 in the afternoon.

They were never presented before a judge, nor was a remand issued yet these men were thrashed without any constrains.

We never knew about it until the Bajaniya youth came to our office and shared the episode with us.

Also at the office  were the bruised men who had experienced police wrath. Some were unable  to seat for long, every few minutes they would get up in pain.  Even the doctor ‘oouched’  when he saw the bruises after the men undressed  for treatment.

Amongst these 12 was a 65 years old elderly who couldn’t endure the beating and died in the police station. The police have declared it was a heart failure,  the post mortem has  also being conducted by them. The report isn’t out yet but we know for sure heart fail it would be!!  

The police claim that Hirakaka ( who died in police custody) has confessed of stealing 35 to 40 mobile phones as well as some other stuff. Hirabapa isn’t amidst us to let us know the truth. We will be examining whether this confession has been  recorded on video or not.

The Bajaniya bury their dead, but the police hurriedly cremated Hirabapa.

One person is still in police custody, he has confessed to robbery. He tells his friends the confession came because he couldn’t endure the beating.

The people who live on Chobari Road assure that the Bajaniya men who have been living in the hutments for past 30 years have never been involved in any illegal activities. The police believes that  those who live in the shanties are not just homeless but guardian-less too, hence they felt it was alright to do what they did with these men.

 I have not mentioned the entire narrative here,  but would definitely want to mention that it is time police stops misusing their powers to  harass the poor and voiceless. We live in a democracy and not atro-cracy/beat-ocracy…

We would wish to have a proper investigation into this entire episode, with honest investigators  heading the investigation committee. The police needs to understand that their uniform does not give them the liberties they are enjoying in such a manner.

‘આ જુનાગઢ પોલીસે હદ કરી નાખી..

વિચરતી જાતિના 12 નિર્દોષ વ્યક્તિઓને ચોરી કરી છે એમ કહીને તા.15 ઓગષ્ટના રાતના 3 વાગે ઉપાડ્યા અને પછી શરૃ થયો ઢોર માર એ પણ સવારના 8 વાગ્યા સુધી.

ગુનો કબૂલ કરો નહીં તો... વાળી વાતથી પાછું નવ વાગ્યાથી બપોરના 3 વાગ્યા સુધી વારાફરતી માર.

જજ સામે હાજર કરવાનું પણ ના થયું ના કોઈ રીમાન્ડ઼ મળ્યા છતાં ઢોર માર માર્યો.’ આજે ઓફીસ પર મળવા આવેલા બજાણિયા યુવાનોએ આ વાત કરી..

આજે અમદાવાદ આ લોકો આવ્યા. નીચે બેસી શકે એવી હાલત એક જણાની નથી. તો એક જણ બેસી શકે છે પણ વધુ બેસાતુ નથી એમ કહીને પાંચમી મીનીટે ઊભા થઈ જાય છે.

અમે આ લોકોને હોસ્પીટલ લઈ ગયા. જેને વધુ તકલીફ હતી તેમણે ડોક્ટર સામે ડ્રેસીંગ માટે પેન્ટ ઉતાર્યું ને ડોક્ટર મોંઢામાંથી અરર બોલી ગયા..

આ 12માંથી 65 વર્ષના કાકાને પોલીસે ખૂબ માર્યા અને પોલીસ કસ્ટડીમાં જ એમનું મરણ થઈ ગયું. પણ પોલીસે કહ્યું હાર્ટ એટેકથી મોત થયું છે. પોલીસે જ પીએમ કરાવ્યું. પીએમ રીપોર્ટ હાથમાં આવ્યો નથી. જો કે હાથમાં આવશે તો પણ એમાં તો હાર્ટએટેક આવવાનો એ નક્કી..

કાકાએ મરતા પહેલાં 35 થી 40 મોબાઈલ અને અન્ય લૂંટો કર્યાનું કબૂલ્યાનું પોલીસે કહ્યું. સાચુ ખોટુ કરાવવા હવે હિરાબાપા પાસે કોણ જવાનું? વિડીયો રેકોર્ડીંગની જોગવાઈ છે એ કરી છે કે નહીં એ અમે તપાસીશું..

આ સિવાય બજાણિયા મૃતકની તફન વીધી કરે પણ હીરાબાપાના અડધી રાતે જ અગ્ની સંસ્કાર થઈ ગયા.

એક વ્યક્તિ હજી પોલીસ કસ્ટડીમાં છે અને ઢોર મારના કારણે એણે ચોરી કર્યાનું કબૂલ્યું છે. એણે પણ કહ્યું માર સહન નથી થતો એટલે કબૂલ્યું...

ઝૂંપડાંવાળીને 30 વર્ષથી રહેનાર બજાણિયાનું નામ કોઈ ખરાબ કામમાં નથી. ચોબારી રોડ પર રહેનાર લોકો એની ખાત્રી આપે.

પણ પોલીસે છાપરાંમાં રહેનારનું વળી ઘણી કોણ એટલે રાતો રાત ઉપાડ્યાને પછી જે કર્યું તે....

અહીંયા બધુ નથી લખ્યું પણ એટલું ચોક્કસ કહીશ આમ નિર્દોષોને પજવવાનું બંધ કરો. દેશમાં લોકશાહી છે ઠોકશાહી નહીં.

આખી ઘટનાની ન્યાયીક તપાસ થાય એ માટે કમીટી અથવા નિષ્ઠાવાન પ્રમાણીક વ્યક્તિની નિયુક્ત થાય અને જેઓ ગુનેગાર છે તેમને સજા થાય એ ઈચ્છનીય..

વરદી પહેરી છે એટલે બધી છૂટ નથી મળતી એ પોલીસે સમજવાનું...

આજે ઓફીસમાં આવેલા આ લોકોના ફોટો ખાલી સમજવા ખાતર મૂક્યા છે. બાકી વિડીયો છે આખું રેકોર્ડીંગ સાઁભળો તો રૃવાટા ઊભા થઈ જાય...અહીંયા ટૂંકુ કરીને મૂક્યું છે.

કાર્યકર કનુભાઈ બજાણિયા આ પરિવારો સાથે સતત રહ્યા અને તેમને સધીયારો આપ્યો.. પણ લડાઈ લાંબી છે.

 A recent event reaffirmed our belief in the government officers who have been appointed after clearing GPSC exams. Since last couple of years we have observed that these young officials are very  compassionate and sensitive towards the needs of the poor. “We have been given an opportunity to perform our duty…” they go above and beyond their line of duty to help the poor and marginalised.

The current living condition of nomadic families

There is a substantial number of Vadee Madaree families staying in Surendranagar’s Thangadh. The families do not have substantial documents to prove their identity. The district collector Shri. Rakesh is a very sensitive individual. He has wished to provide plots and housing for the homeless in his district, he has ensured his team works to turn  this wish into  reality. The team is visiting the settlements and filling up the forms. VSSM’s Harshad  always remains present during these visits to make sure no one is left out.

Additional Collector Shri. Ashish Miyatra is also completely invested into these efforts and works hard for the same. Every application for plot needs to be attached  with a caste certificate. But these communities do not have required  documents to acquire a caste certificate.  The duly filled forms were given to the authorised officials who refused to process because of insufficient documents. The officials also did not pay heed to Harshad’s explanation of the VSSM influenced  government resolution that simplifies the process of issuance of caste certificate for homeless nomadic communities. Both, Harshad and community members were a little disheartened by the official’s approach. When Additional Collector Shri. Ashishbhai got a word about this he said, “ Don’t worry, we shall find a way out.” He studied the resolution  which has a mention of panchnama that can be issued after an official visits  the place of residence of the applicant. Shri Ashish instructed his officials follow that instruction. All the applicants will be receiving their caste certificates in two days.  

I happen to meet Ashishbhai during my recent Than visit. “We salute you and your sensitivity. How we wish all officials began working like you do. So much of our load would ease out!!” I told him.

“Please, don’t thank us . This is our duty. This work brings me great satisfaction, I am happy to be instrumental in this entire process.”

The team at the helm of Surendranagar administration, Collector Shri K. Rakesh, Shri Ashish Miyatra, Shri Vijaybhai Patni is very strong. The long pending files of Surendranagar will be delighted to see light of the day under this team. The will be happy to the fact that the  dust accumulated over the years over them will at last be dusted.

We are grateful for officials like these, such individuals make this world a better place!!

છેલ્લા કેટલાક વર્ષોમાં GPSC પાસ કરી સરકારમાં કાર્યરત થયેલા યુવા અધિકારીઓ બહુ આશાસ્પદ જણાય છે. ‘કુદરતે તક આપી છે’ એવું કહી ક્યાંક નિયમથી ઉપર ઉઠીને મદદ કરનાર અધિકારીઓને પણ મળવાનું થાય છે.

સુરેન્દ્રનગરના થાનગઢમાં મદારી પરિવારો વસે. આ પરિવારો પાસે તેમની ઓળખ સાબિત કરવાના ઝાઝા પૂરાવા નહીં. કલેક્ટર શ્રી કે રાજેશ બહુ સંવદેનશીલ. તેમની ઈચ્છા સુરેન્દ્રનગરમાં રહેતા વિચરતી જાતિના તમામ ઘરવિહોણા પરિવારોને ઘર આપવાની અને તે માટે તેઓએ પોતાની ટીમને કટીબદ્ધ કરી. અધિકારીઓ વસાહતો ખૂંદી રહ્યા છે અને ફોર્મ ભરી રહ્યા છે. 

આ કાર્યમાં અમારો હર્ષદ તો સતત એમની સાથે..

મદારી વસાહતને પ્લોટ આપવા પ્રાંત કલેક્ટર શ્રી આશીષ મિયાત્રા પણ કલેક્ટર જેવા જ ઉત્સાહથી મથે. પ્લોટ મેળવવાની અરજી સાથે જાતિ પ્રમાણપત્ર જોડવા પડે. પણ એ માટેના પૂરાવા આ લોકો પાસે બહુ નહીં. ફોર્મ ભરીને તાલુકામાં બેસતા જવાબદાર અધિકારીને આપ્યા પણ એમણે ઠોસ પૂરાવા નથી માટે આપી નહીં શકાય તેમ કહ્યું.

હર્ષદે તેમને વિચરતી જાતિઓની સ્થિતિ સમજી તેમને સરળતાથી જાતિ પ્રમાણપત્ર મળે તે માટે VSSMના પ્રયત્નથી થયેલો વર્ષ 2017નો ઠરાવ બતાવ્યો. જેમાં સ્થળ તપાસ કરીને જાતિપ્રમાણપત્ર આપી શકાય તેવો ઉલ્લેખ હોવાનું બતાવ્યું. પણ આ અધિકારીએ બહુ દાદ આપી નહીં.

હર્ષદ અને વસાહતના લોકો થોડા નિરાશ થયા. ત્યાં પ્રાંત કલેક્ટર શ્રી આશીષભાઈને આ ખ્યાલ આવ્યો એમણે કહ્યું,

‘ચિંતા ના કરો આપણે રસ્તો કરીશું’ તેમણે ઠરાવનો અભ્યાસ કર્યો અને સ્થળ તપાસ કરીને પંચનામુ કરીને જાતિપ્રમાણપત્ર આપી શકાયનું વાંચ્યું. એમણે એ પ્રમાણે કર્યુ. બે દિવસમાં તમામ પરિવારોને જાતિ પ્રમાણપત્ર મળી જશે.

થાન જવાનું થયું ત્યારે આશીષભાઈ પણ વસાહતમાં આવ્યા. મે એમને કહ્યું, ‘તમને અને તમારી સંવેદનાને સેલ્યુટ કરીએ છીએ. આવી રીતે સૌ અધિકારી કામ કરતા થઈ જાય તો અમારા જેવાનો ભાર હળવો થઈ જાય’

એમણે કહ્યું, ‘એમાં આભાર હોય જ નહીં મારી ફરજ છે અને આ કામથી ખૂબ સંતોષ મળે છે. હું નિમિત્ત બનું એનો રાજીપો છે’

કલેક્ટર શ્રી કે.રાજેશ અને તેમની સાથે આશીષભાઈ મિયાત્રા, વિજયભાઈ પટણી જેવા અધિકારીઓની મજબૂત ટીમ છે. વર્ષોથી વિચરતી જાતિઓના પેન્ડીંગ કામોની ફાઈલો સુરેન્દ્રનગર જિલ્લામાં પડી છે. આ બધી જ ફાઈલો પર પરિણામલક્ષી મહોર મરાવવાની છે.. ફાઈલોનેય રાજીપો થશે...આખરે કોઈક તો આવ્યા જેમણે એના પરની ધૂળ ઊડાળી..

આભાર આપ સૌ સંવેનશીલ અધિકારીઓનો.. તમારા કારણે આ દુનિયા ઊજળી છે....

જે પરિવારોને રહેવા પોતાની જગ્યા અને પછી ઘર મળવાના છે તેને ફોટોમાં જોઈ શકાય છે. સાથે પ્રાંત કલેક્ટર શ્રી આશીષભાઈ સાથે વસાહતમાં થયેલી વાતનો ફોટો પણ...

In Banaskantha’s Vanva Rampura we deepened 5 lakes of which 3  now have water in it. Respected Shri. Bhanuben Shah from Mumbai donated Rs. 25 lakhs to deepen lakes in one village. There was a  small contribution from the government too. As a result of this massive  contribution we could undertake the deepening of all the 5 lakes in Rampura.

During our primary meetings to engage with the community and leadership of Rampura many had shared, “we don’t remember when our lakes were last deepened or cleaned!!” Whereas some shared it was during the last great famine Gujarat had witnessed that the lake cleaning works were carried out.

We do aren’t aware of the period of this great  famine they are talking about. But we are grateful that the lakes are now filled with waters. Hope the rain Gods continue to shower their blessings and fill up all the 5 lakes.

The Sarpanch and community of Rampura exhibited great understanding and support. VSSM’s Naran and Chirag remained at it and it is their hard work that is visible here.

My three very dear elders Nanditaben, Bhanuben and Rashminbhai… dear Nanditaben showed us the path, Bhanuben joined hands and respected Rashminbhai  opened our eyes and made us take up this immensely important task of water conservation. My regards and gratitude for your continued support and encouragement.

આવ રે વરસાદ, ઘેબરીઓ પરસાદ

ઊની ઊની રોટલી ને કારેલાનું શાક,

ગાઈને મેધાની રાહ જોતા'તે આવ્યો ખરો..

બનાસકાંઠાના વાવના રામપુરામાં પાંચ તળાવો અમે ખોદ્યા. જેમાંથી ત્રણ તળાવો ભરાયા જે ફોટોમાં જોઈ શકાય છે.

મુંબઈના આદરણીય શ્રી ભાનુબહેન શાહે એક ગામમાં તળાવો ઊંડા કરવા 25 લાખની મદદ કરી. ઉપરાંત સરકારે પણ નાની મદદ કરી. 

જેના લીધે રામપુરામાં આ કામ થઈ શક્યું.

ગામના લોકો સાથે તળાવ ઊંડા કરવા બાબતે બેઠક થઈ ત્યારે એમણે કહેલું, 'અમારા ગામનું તળાવ ક્યારે ઊંડું થયું હતું તે અમને યાદ નથી' તો કોઈએ કહ્યું, 'પસીસો કાળ પડ્યો ત્યારે તળાવ ગળાયું હતું.'

ખેર પસીસો કાળ ક્યારે પડ્યો એનો ખ્યાલ નથી. પણ હાલ આનંદ તળાવ ગળાયા પછી એમાં ભરાયેલા પાણીનો છે.

મેઘ રાજાને પાંચે તળાવ છલકાવી દેવા પ્રાર્થના...

રામપુરાના લોકો તેમજ સરપંચનો પણ આ કાર્યમાં અદભૂત સહયોગ મળ્યો...

કાર્યકર નારણ અને ચીરાગની જેહમત આ કામમાં સખત રહી...

પ્રિય નંદીતાબહેને આંગળી ચીંધી ભાનુબહેનને આ કાર્યમાં જોડ્યા તો આદરણીય રશ્મીનભાઈએ તળાવો ગળાય એ માટે કામ કરવા અમને ઢંઢોળ્યા..

ત્રણેય મારા વહાલા પ્રિયજન.. આપ ત્રણે પ્રત્યે આદરભાવ વ્યક્ત કરુ છું...

Coming together for Trees….

Mittal Patel visits Makahanu village for tree plantation

At last it rained in Banaskantha!!

We  pledged to turn the soil we work on green, but the rain God refused to keep it’s date in  the region. The farmers suggested we wait for the rains to arrive.

Everyone was eagerly awaiting the arrival of rains. The required preparations for the tree plantation drive had been made. The moment it rained, we stated receiving calls from village Sarpanchs, “When are we planting the trees, send the trees at the earliest etc..”

Trees were planted by Makhanu villagers 

Today we planted 1000 trees in Makhanu. The land over which the plantation was done is  a wasteland filled with gando baval. The villagers removed those trees on their own ( an extremely challenging task), prepared the soil, dug the pits with the help of JCB machine, made arrangement for water and fenced the entire plot where the plantation was to be carried out.  They also selected the caretaker for the trees who would be responsible for watering and nurturing them. The saplings  were provided by VSSM

The tree loving team of Makhanu village

Makhanu has appointed Narsinhbhai as their Vriksh-Mitr/Tree Friend. He is now responsible for caring for these 1000 trees. It has been agreed that the remuneration to Narsinhbhai will be equally shared between VSSM and Makhanu village.  The village now has a Tree Committee too and the members are responsible for the well-being of these trees. The tree plantation drive came to an end in Makhanu after its residents and leadership accepted the responsibility of nurturing all the 1000 trees.

The plantation drive in Makhanu was success because of its devoted Sarpanch Bhanabhai and the entire Panchayat team. Shri. Ashokbhai who is a journalist worked really hard to make it a success.

Hope all the 1000 trees of Makhanu grow  their roots and survive. Makhanu has proved to be a model village for conservation related issues. Hope other villages manage to draw inspiration from it.

Grow more trees to bring rains… the slogan will have to be lived by all or else the day isn’t far  when the humankind will be struggling for every drop of water. 

Under the guidance of our very dedicated Naran, both Ishwar and Bhagwan are working really hard to make Banaskantha green again. It is this  team that helps us complete such difficult tasks. Thank you friends.

પણ વરસાદ નહોતો એટલે ખેડૂતો વૃક્ષારોપણ માટે ખમવા કહેતા...

પણ મેધો વરસ્યોને સરપંચોના ફોન રણક્યા..

'અમાર ગોમમાં વૃક્ષારોપણ ચાણ કરશો.. ઝાડ ઝટ મોકલાવો... વગેરે...'

ગામોએ પણ પોતાની રીતે સરસ તૈયારી કરી. 

આજે મખાણું ગામે 1000 ઝાડ વાવ્યા. 

જે જમીન પર ઝાડ વાવ્યા એ જમીન નકરા બાવળથી ભરેલી હતી. ગામે સ્વખર્ચે બાવળો કાઢ્યા અને જમીન સરખી કરી. જેસીબીથી સરસ ખાડા કર્યા. જમીનની ચારે બાજુ તેમણે તારની વાડ કરી જેથી ઝાડનું રક્ષણ થાય ને ઝાડ માટે પાણીની વ્યવસ્થા પણ તેમણે કરી.

ઝાડની માવજત માટે માણસ રાખવાની અમારી શરત એમણે કબૂલી..ઝાડ અમે આપ્યા..

ગામના નરસીંહ ભાઈની વૃક્ષમિત્ર તરીકે નિમણૂક થઈ. વાવેલા ઝાડનું હવે નરસીંહભાઈ ઝાડનું જતન કરશે.

નરસીંહભાઈને માસીક સેવક સહાય અડઘી ગામના લોકો આપશે અને અડધી સંસ્થા આપશે.

ગામે વૃક્ષ મંડળી બનાવી તેના સભ્યોએ આ ઝાડની જવાબદારી સ્વીકારી...

આ શરતોને આધીન ગામમાં વૃક્ષારોપણનું કામ સંપન્ન થયું.

ગામના સરપંચ ભાણાભાઈ તેમજ પંચાયતની તેમની ટીમ, પત્રકાર અશોકભાઈ સૌ આ કાર્યમાં ખડે પગે...

બસ 1000 વૃક્ષ કર્યા છે તે બધા ઊગે એવી પ્રાર્થના અને અન્ય ગામો પણ આમાંથી પ્રેરણા લે તેવી અપેક્ષા...

વૃક્ષો વાવો વરસાદ લાવો એ ચરીતાર્થ કરવા સૌએ મથવું પડશે... 

નહીં તો પાણીના એક ટીપાં માટે વલખાં મારવા પડશે...

VSSM ટીમના સક્રિય કાર્યકર નારણના માર્ગદર્શન હેઠળ ઈશ્વર અને ભગવાન સુંદર રીતે બનાસકાંઠાને હરિયાળુ બનાવવાના સંકલ્પમાં લાગ્યા છે.. આવી સરસ ટીમના કારણે જ આ કામો થાય છે.. થેક્યુ દોસ્તો...

Meeting with PM Shri Narendra Modi...

On 19^th July 2019, I had the opportunity to meet our Prime Minister Shri. Narendrabhai Modi. The primary objective was to discuss the issues of nomadic and de-notified communities and to express our gratitude for his involvement towards resolving the issues of the nomads.

The Government Welfare Board for the Nomadic, De-notified and Semi-nomadic communities has not started functioning as yet, I shared. He assured he will look up into the matter. I also thanked him for my appointment as a Board Member.

We also talked about finding long term solutions to the twice emerged situation of flash floods in Banaskantha. If you remember the region witnessed a never before calamity in 2015 and 2017 when the poor and marginalised lost everything they had. We requested for construction of canals in the region.

Both Maulik and I had paid visit to the PM. When he saw Maulik along he joked…

“She has turned you into a nomad too!!”

“If I want to wander, he too needs to follow path!!” I had replied.

I am grateful to PM Shri Narendrabhai Modi, Shri Bhupendra Yadav and Shri Bhagwandas Panchal - three of whom are instrumental in giving us hope and doing some concrete work for these communities.

Hope the work begins soon for these communities who have experienced centuries of neglect and apathy.

તા.19 જુલાઈ 2019ના રોજ આપણા વડાપ્રધાન શ્રી નરેન્દ્રભાઈ મોદીને મળવાનું થયું.
મુખ્ય આશય તો વિચરતી વિમુક્ત જાતિઓ જ હોય..
આ સિવાય તેમનો આભાર પણ માનવાનો હતો..

સરકારે જાહેર કરેલું વિચરતી વિમુક્ત તેમજ અર્ધવિચરતી જાતિઓ માટેનું કલ્યાણકારી બોર્ડ હજુ સુધી કાર્યાન્વીત નથી થયાની રજૂઆત કરી. રજૂઆત ઉપર તેમણે તુરત આ અંગે સૂચના આપશે એમ જણાવ્યું.

આ બોર્ડમાં મેમ્બર તરીકે નિમણૂક કરવા બદલ પ્રધાનમંત્રી શ્રીનો આભાર વ્યકત કર્યો.
સાથે બનાસકાંઠામાં 2015 અને 2017માં પુર આવ્યું. આ પુરમાં પાણી નીકાલની વ્યવસ્થાઓ યોગ્ય ના હોવાના કારણેય ઘણું નુકશાન થયું. આમ ચોમાસાના પાણીના નીકાલની વ્યવસ્થાઓ માટે કેનાલો બને તે માટેની રજૂઆત પણ તેમને કરી.
હું અને મૌલિક બંને તેમને મળ્યા. મૌલિકને જોઈને એમણે હળવી મજાક કરતા કહ્યું,
'તે આનેય વિચરતો કરી દીધો?'
મે એમને કહ્યું, 'મારે વિચરવું હોય તો એનેય કરવો પડે ને?'
સરકારના વિચરતી જાતિઓ માટે નક્કર કશુંક કરવાના પગલાંને આવકારુ છું.
આદરણીય પ્રધાનમંત્રી શ્રી નરેન્દ્રભાઈ મોદી, શ્રી ભુપેન્દ્ર યાદવ શ્રી ભગવાનદાસ પંચાલ આ ત્રણેય પ્રિયજનોનો આભાર વ્યક્ત કરુ છુ. તેમના થકી જ આ સમુદાય માટે નક્કર કશુંક થવા જઈ રહ્યું છે.
બસ હવે સરસ કામ થાય અને સદીઓથી તરછોડાયેલા રહેલા આ સમાજને ન્યાય મળે એ દિશામાં કામ થાય...

Tree plantation in Golvi : Returning the Favour to Nature...

Trees are jewellery our earth adorns. We at VSSM, have nurtured a dream of covering our mother Earth with these jewels.

 

Until now we have just kept  taking from this provider, the Earth. We never seek her permission. Do we?

An now we realise that it is these jewels that keeps us alive and kicking!!

Villagers have prepared 1000 pits for planting the saplings

VSSM  has decided to carry out a massive tree plantation drive in Banaskantha. We have decided to begin with villages that are aware about the activities of VSSM.

21 villages have been selected in Banaskantha  for the first phase of the community partnered tree plantation drive.

Yesterday we were at Golvi village. The sarpanch, Shri Dashrathbhai is very enthusiastic about the entire initiative.

He has decided on the place for the plantation of trees and also made tree protecting fences. They have already prepared 1000 pits for planting the saplings. Dharmabhai Desai has been assigned the responsibility of caring and nurturing these trees. VSSM and the village will share his remuneration expences.

“If we do not plant the trees now it will become difficult to survive on this planet. We want to turn our village green.

Dharmabhai loves tree and we are sure he will work hard to nurture and raise them.

The prepared pits were a little small, we have asked him to make them a little big.

The entire mission is now keenly awaiting the rains.

We are all praying for rains to arrive

With the hope that each  village has its own woods to escape to….

ધરતીમાનો શણગાર વૃક્ષ.. વૃક્ષરૃપી શણગારથી આપણી પોષક 'મા' ને સજાવવાના સપના અમે સેવ્યા.

અત્યાર સુધી 'મા'ને પુછ્યા વગર એની મંજુરી લીધા વગર બસ જોઈતું બધુ લીધા કર્યું. 

પણ પછી સમજાયું કે એનો શણગાર જ આપણને જીવાડે.

એટલે નક્કી કર્યું ઘરતીનો શણગાર એવી હરિયાળી વધુ સ્થાપીત કરવી

ગામોમાં જગ્યા વધુ મળે એટલે અમારો ઘરોબો જે ગામોમાં હતો, જ્યાંના લોકો અમારા કામની પદ્ધતિને સમજે તેવા વિસ્તારમાં પ્રથમ વૃક્ષારોપણું કામ આરંભવું.

બનાસકાંઠામાં 21 ગામો પસંદ કર્યા છે. જ્યાં ગામની ભાગીદારીથી વૃક્ષારોપણ કરીશું.

ગઈ ગાલે ગોલવી ગામમાં જવાનું થયું સરપંચ દશરથભાઈ દેસાઈ બહુ ઉત્સાહી. 

એમણે વૃક્ષારોપણ માટે જગ્યા પસંદ કરી અને અમારી શરત પ્રમાણે ઝાડની સુરક્ષા માટે ચારે બાજુ વાડની તૈયારી કરી દીધી.

વૃક્ષો માટે 1000 ખાડા કર્યા અને વૃક્ષોના જતન માટે ધર્માભાઈ દેસાઈએ સ્વેચ્છાએ જવાબદારી સ્વીકારી. ગામ અને VSSM બેય મળીને ધર્માભાઈને એમના કામનું મહેનતાણું ચુકવશે. 

દશરથભાઈએ કહ્યું, વૃક્ષો નહીં વાવીએ તો જીવવાનું અઘરુ થશે. અમારે અમારા ગામને હરિયાળુ કરવું છે. ધર્માભાઈ વૃક્ષપ્રેમી માણસ છે એ જતન કરશે.

ધર્માભાઈએ ખાડા નાના કર્યા છે અમે ખાડા મોટા કરવા કહ્યું. 

એક ઝાપટુ પડે પછી વૃક્ષો લાવવા છે. 

બસ મેઘરાજાની પધરામણીની રાહ છે..

મહેર કર કુદરત એવી પ્રાર્થના સાથે.. 

ગામે ગામ વન ઊભા થાય તેમ ઈચ્છીએ....
