Have you imagined life on a planet devoid of trees??
As we continue business as usual, we are all preparing ourselves for a future where an oxygen cylinder will always tag us everywhere. And we are clueless on from where will we bring the oxygen to fill up those cylinders.
Is this the legacy we intend to leave behind for our coming generations? If yes, the future generations will curse us for all our careless actions.

To save whatever is left and to contribute towards leaving a greener legacy, VSSM intends launch a mega Tree Plantation Drive in villages of Banaskantha this year. So far 40 villages have been identified and have shown willingness to take ownership of the plantatin drive in their village. VSSM has been conducting primary meetings with community leaders and youth in each of these villages.

Paragbhai, the young and enthusiastic Sarpanch of Sui block’s Bepan village had identified land for plantation of trees and we were on our way to have a look at it. While we were travelling, VSSM’s Naranbhai receives a call insisting we hurry up. “The Parayan (religious discourse) is our village is on, the people who have come to listen parayan should also listen to our message on Tree Plantation. Hence, hurry up please!!” Paragbhai insisted.

During the Paarayan, respected Shri Moraribapu spoke on Ramkatha, on our Dharma while I got an opportunity to speak on our Karma. I spoke about the need and urgency to plant and raise trees. By the end of the paarayan, the women present pledged to raise 3 trees. This was their offering to protect the environment of their village.
In the sizzling 45 degrees temperature, pledging to make Bepan green again deserves all our respect. It is a commitment that is pure and powerful.
I hope Paragbhai’s pledge to plant 3000 trees becomes a reality this monsoon.

વૃક્ષ વગરની દુનિયામાં જીવી કેમ શકાય?
ઓક્સીજન સીલીન્ડ સાથે જીવવાની આપણે સૌ તૈયારી કરી રહ્યા છીએ. મૂળ તો પ્રદુષણ વધી રહ્યું છે એને લઈને.
પણ આ સીલીન્ડરમાં ભરવા ઓક્સીજન તો વૃક્ષો જ આપવાનાને?
આપણી આવનારી પેઢી આપણને ગાળો ના દે. એ માટેય આ પૃથ્વી પહેવા જેવી રાખવાના આશયથી અમે તો વૃક્ષારોપણનું કામ હાથ ધર્યું છે.
આ વર્ષે 40 ગામોમાં વૃક્ષારોપણ ગામની ભાગીદારીથી કરવાના છીએ.
જે માટે નક્કી થયેલા ગામોમાં બેઠકો શરૃ થઈ ગઈ છે.
સુઈગામ તાલુકાનું બેણપ ગામ. ઉત્સાહી સરપંચ પરાગભાઈએ વૃક્ષારોપણ માટે જગ્યા પસંદ કરી રાખી હતી અને એ જગ્યા જોવા અમારે જવાનું થયું.
તેમનો અમારા નિષ્ઠાવાન કાર્યકર નારણભાઈ પર ફોન આવે.
'ઝટ આવો. ગામમાં પારાયણ બેસાડી છે. આ પારાયણ સાંભળવા આવેલા લોકો સાથે વૃક્ષારોપણ બાબતે વાત થાય એટલે ઝટ આવો.'
ઉતાવળ કરી છતાં પહોંચતા 3 વાગી ગયા. લૂ વાતી હતી. છતાં સવારના 10 વાગ્યાના લોકો પારાયણ પત્યા પછી પણ અમારી વાત સાંભળવા રાહ જોઈને ભૂખ્યા બેઠા હતા.
પારાયણમાં બાપજીએ તો ધર્મની વાતો કરી. મને કર્મની વાતો કરવાની તક મળી. ઝાડ ઉછરેની વાત થઈ અને ગામની દરેક બહેનોએ ત્રણ ઝાડ ઉછેરવાનો સંકલ્પ પણ પારાયણમાં ધર્માદાની સાથે કર્યો.
45 ડિગ્રીમાં શેકાતા બેણપને વૃક્ષ આચ્છાદીત કરવાનો સંકલ્પ મારે મન સૌથી મોટો અને પવિત્ર સંકલ્પ છે.
3000 ઝાડખાં વાવવાની પરાગભાઈની ઈચ્છા ફળી ભૂત થાય તેવી પ્રાર્થના...
