Who would not like to hear these words?. I also liked it when 80 year old Nanduma said this to me. From the village of  Sapar in Amreli, a very content Nanduma has no desire to acquire anything more. Stays alone and spends most of her time in the service of the temple.

Our associate Shri Rameshbhai arranges to send her our food kit every month. Nanduma had a lot of affection for Rameshbhai & when he fell ill, Nanduma asked her neighbour to take her to Rameshbhai's home to check on his health.

It was Nanduma's wish to meet us all in Ahmedabad who worried about her and took care of her. Whenever Rameshbhai went to give her the food kit, she would enquire about me. It made me visit her and after meeting her got a fresh energy. She had no complaints with her life and her condition.  She believed that as long as she was fit, she could work and take care of herself, now that she has become old god has sent us to help her. Then why should she worry?

Like Nanduma, we cater to the needs of such 600 old people. You too can be a guardian to such deserving old parents. We get requests for help from so many such dependents. આ શબ્દો સાંભળીને મજા પડે ને? મને પણ એંસી વર્ષીય નંદુમાના શબ્દો સાંભળી મજા પડી.. અમરેલીના સાપરના નંદુમા એકદમ સંતોષી. વધારાનું મેળવી લેવાની કોઈ ઝંખના નહીં. એકલા રહે અને પોતાનો ઘણો ખરો સમય મંદિરમાં સેવા આપવામાં પસાર કરે.

અમારા કાર્યકર રમેશભાઈ એમને દર મહિને રાશન પહોંચાડે. તે રમેશભાઈ પર એમને ઘણું હેત. રમેશભાઈ બિમાર પડ્યાની ખબર પડે કે ખબર પુછવા લઈ જવાનું પડોશીને એ કહે..

નંદુમાની ભાવના અમદાવાદમાં બેસીને એમની ચિંતા કરનાર અમને સૌને મળવાની. જ્યારે પણ રમેશભાઈ રાશન આપવા જાય ત્યારે પુછે, બેન ક્યારે આવશે..એટલ જ એમને મળવા ખાસ ગયા ને એમને મળ્યા પછી એક ઊર્જા આવી ગઈ.

પોતાના જીવન સામે કોઈ ફરિયાદ નહીં. નોંધારી હતી પણ ભગવાને થતું ત્યાં સુધી કામ કરાવ્યું ને હાથપગ ભાંગ્યા ત્યારે તમને મોકલી આપ્યા.. પછી મારે શું ચિંતા એવું એ કહે.

ઈશ્વર પર એમને ગજબ શ્રદ્ધા... 

નંદુમા જેવા  600 માવતરોને અમે દર મહિને રાશન આપીયે. તમે પણ આવા માવતરોના પાલક બની શકો. નીત કેટલાય નિરાધાર વ્યક્તિઓના મદદ માટે ફોન આવે. બધે પહોંચવું આપ સોના સહયોગ વગર અશક્ય. પણ તમે સૌ સાથે આવશો તો આ બધુ કરવું મુશ્કેલ પણ નથી. મદદ માટે  90999-36013 પર 10 થી 6માં સંપર્ક કરવા વિનંતી.

Three years ago, Hari hanged himself to death, leaving behind these three small children. A few months after his death, Hari’s wife walked away, leaving these children with their grandparents. 

The responsibility of raising the children fell upon old and frail Valabapa and Punima. 

The death of his son has shattered Valabapa mentally. “Why did you do this?” standing before his image, he seeks answers from Hari every morning! 

Valabapa cannot walk at all. So Punima and the children set out to beg every morning. And eat from whatever they have gathered. 

Hari had been VSSM’s volunteer for a long time, he was a courageous young man, and we have failed to understand the reasons behind his extreme step. 

VSSM’s Kanubhai and Chayaben did not like to see Hari’s family begging for food; hence, VSSM started supporting the family by giving them a monthly ration kit (as seen in the picture). The ration kit ensures that the family has food on the plate and that they do not need to go and beg for it. 

Manishaben Pandya, our US-based well-wisher, has taken up the responsibility for this family. 

Valabapa had always dreamt of a pucca house, VSSM has helped them build a house in Rajkot’s Rampara Beti. One of the pictures shares their current living condition. The family will move into their new home after the house warming ceremony on 13th May 2022, to be graced by our Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel. 

“Didi, take us with you to Ahmedabad; we want to study there.” The kids had told me when I had specially gone to see them. 

I was thrilled to hear this from them. Our Pansar Vallabh Vidya Mandir will be ready to host such kids within a year, and it is then we will bring these three to us. 

I fail to understand why someone as understanding as Hari would take such a drastic step; one should think of their children and old parents before taking such a life-threatening step!! As always, I keep praying to the almighty to provide strength to each of us to face the challenges life throws at us

ફોટોમાં દેખાય એ નાના ટબુડિયાઓને મુકીને હરીએ ત્રણ વર્ષ પહેલાં ગળે ફાંસો ખાધો.  નાના બાલુડાઓની મા હરીના ગયાના થોડા સમયમાં જ બાળકોને દાદા - દાદી પાસે મુકીને જતી રહી. 

વાલાબાપા અને પુનીમાને ઢળતી ઉંમેર બાળકોને ઉછેરવાની જવાબદારી આવી. 

વાલાબાપ માનસીક રીતે ભાંગી પડ્યા. હરીએ આવું કેમ કર્યું તેનો જવાબ તે હરીના ફોટો સામે જોઈને રોજ માંગે પણ હરી ક્યાં જવાબ આપવા આવે?

વાલાબાપા બીલકુલ ચાલી ન શકે. પુની મા બાળકો સાથે ભીખ માંગવા જાય ને જે મળે તેમાં પાંચેય પોતાનું પુરુ કરવા કોશીશ કરે..

હરી અમારો સ્વયંમસેવક. સંસ્થાના કામોમાં એ ખુબ મદદ કરતો. આમ તો હીંમતવાન પણ ખરો પણ કોણ જાણે એને શું થયું તે એણે આવું પગલું ભર્યું...અમારા કાર્યકર કનુભાઈ અને છાયાબહેન બેઉને નાના બાળકો માંગવા જાય એ ન ગમે.. એમણે અમને કહ્યું ને અમે દર મહિને રાશન આપવાનું છેલ્લા ઘણા વખતથી શરૃ કર્યું. ફોટોમાં એ જોઈ પણ શકાય...

અમેરીકામાં રહેતા મનીષાબહેન પંડ્યાએ આ પરિવારની જવાબદારી સ્વીકારી..રાશન મળતા પાંચેય જીવને હખ છે. માંગવા જવું નથી પડતું..

આ વાલાબાપાને પોતાના ઘરની ઘણી હોંશ.. રાજકોટના રામપરા બેટીમાં અમે એમનું સરસ મજાનું ઘર બનાવ્યું.. હાલ એ ફોટોમાં દેખાય એ હાલતમાં રહે. તા.13મે 2022ના રોજ રાજ્યના મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી રામપરાબેટીમાં રહેતા 65 પરિવારોને ગૃહપ્રવેશ કરાવવાના છે તે પછી વાલાબાપા, પુની મા ને આ ત્રણેય ટાબર  પાક્કા ઘરમાં જશે... પાક્કા ઘર સાથેનો એમનો ફોટો બે દિવસમાં મુકીશ.. 

હવે આ ત્રણેય ટાબર મોટા થઈ. હમણાં વસાહતમાં જવાનું થયું ત્યારે ખાસ એમને મળવા ગઈ. એ વખતે ત્રણેય કહ્યું, અમારે તમારી સાથે અમદાવાદ ભણવા આવવું છે દીદી...

બસ હરખ થાય આવું આ બચ્ચાઓના મોંઢે સાંભળીને.. 

અમારુ પાનસરનું વલ્લભ વિદ્યા મંદિર એક વર્ષમાં આવા બાળકોને રાખવાની ક્ષમતા ધરાવતું થઈ જશે પછી આ ત્રણેયને ઉપાડી આવીશું...

પણ હરી જેવા સમજણા છોકરાએ જે કર્યું તે ન ગમ્યું. અવળી મતી સુઝે ત્યારે બુઢ્ઢા મા -બાપ ને બાળકો સામે સૌએ જોવું જોઈએ એવું દરેકને કહેવાનું મન થાય...

"Life is peaceful now," Hirabhai Bawri from Ahmedabad's Ramdevnagar shares.

In 2017 Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation - AMC identified 44 families whose kaccha homes on the roadsides hindered the commuters. AMC decided to provide them with houses at a different location.

There was also a talk about the allotment of houses at Sarkari Awas at Vejalpur, but each family had to contribute Rs. 67000. The economic condition of these families is deplorable; hence contributing the mentioned amount was challenging.

VSSM wrote to Shri Ishwarbhai Parmar, Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, about these families' conditions. Today, the government allotted houses to 30 families whose applications for housing assistance had been filed. We have appealed for the remaining 14 families and requested the Developing Communities Welfare Board to expedite the aid to these families. The 30 families received official allotment letters from the government. We are grateful to the government and AMC for their sensitive approach. Sixty-seven other families in Ramdevnagar reside in shanties; we have requested the officials also to allot them houses.

We especially thank US-based Shri Kiritbhai Shah, Shri Dodeja Foundation and Jewelex Foundation for their support to enable us to sustain our Human Rights team; it is the reason the team remains perseverant in their efforts.

VSSM's Madhuben remains dedicated to the cause of nomadic families in Ramdevnagar, and elsewhere in Ahmedabad; it is an honour to have a teammate as dedicated as her.

જીવને હવે નિરાંત થઈ... 

એવું અમદાવાદના રામદેવનગરમાં રહેતા હીરાભાઈ બાવરીએ કહ્યું. મૂળ તેઓ રસ્તાની બાજુમાં કાચા મકાન બનાવી રહેતા. જેના લીધે રાહદારીઓને તકલીફ થતી. 

કોર્પોરેશને 2017માં 44 પરિવારોને શોધી તેમને ઘર આપવાનું નક્કી કર્યું. અલબત વેજલપુરમાં સરકાર દ્વારા બનાવેલા આવાસ આપવાની વાત પણ નક્કી થઈ ગઈ. પણ પ્રશ્ન મકાન મેળવવા લાભાર્થીએ 67000 જેટલો લાભાર્થી ફાળો ભરવાનો હતો. આ પરિવારોની સ્થિતિ એક સાંધે ત્યાં તેર તૂટે એવી. ક્યાંથી આટલા પૈસા લાવવા?

અમે મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી તેમજ સામાજિક ન્યાય અને અધિકારીતા મંત્રી શ્રી ઈશ્વરભાઈ પરમારને રજૂઆત કરી અને સરકારે 30 પરિવારો કે જેઓની મકાન સહાય મેળવવા અરજી કરી દીધી હતી તેમને રકમ મળી ગઈ ને કોર્પોરેશન દ્વારા આ 30 પરિવારોને આજે મકાન ફાળવ્યા. 

44માંથી બાકી રહેતા 14 પરિવારોની અરજી કરી છે. વિકસતી જાતિ કલ્યાણ ખાતુ એમને પણ ઝડપથી સહાય આપે તે માટે લખ્યું છે. 

આજે કોર્પોરેશન દ્વારા 30 પરિવારોને ઘર ફળવાયાનો વિધિસર પત્ર - દસ્તાવેજ સુપ્રત થયો. સરકાર અને કોર્પોરેશનનો આભાર એમની લાગણીથી આ શક્ય બન્યું. 

સાથે રામદેવનગરમાં હજુ 67 પરિવારો છે જેઓ છાપરાંમાં ને રોડ પાસે રહે છે તેમને પણ ઝટ ઘર આપવા વિનંતી...

Destitution…. is a very harsh term both,  to listen or to endure.

I often question, how come we have so many destitute when as a society we talk about “the world is one family”? Well, that is a point to be pondered upon…

VSSM provides monthly ration kits as well as medical assistance (whenever needed)  to 190 destitute elderly. Just like you have sponsor parents we play the role of sponsor children.  Between the 1st to 5th of every month, these elders eagerly await the arrival of their ration kits. VSSM’s team members ensure that the ration kits reach the elders they have judiciously identified from nook and corner across Gujarat.

In fact, the numbers of these elders are continuously rising, but the generosity of our well-wishing donors assures that help reaches to those who need it the most.

This month, The Lions Club of Shahibaug provided ration was provided to 100 elderly through respected Shri Rashmikantbhai Shah.

40 elders receive monthly ration kits from doctors at Ashakta Ashram.

Respected Balwantbhai Metliya, Jayantbhai Shah from Dallas (whom I call Uncle), Estate of Shri Bomi SorabjiBulsara, Bhavnaben Mehta from Ahmedabad, Madhuben Gala from Giant Group of Central Mumbai, HarshabenSangoi, Shri Prasan Toliya all contribute towards the ration kits as well as other smaller or greater needs of these elders. This also includes support for medical emergencies or complete the last rites and rituals.

Also, we have donors who have adopted elders for life. I am not mentioning them all here, but we are grateful for Rs. 1200 (for each sponsored elder)  that reaches our bank account every month. Whenever I meet the elders, I talk about you and your compassion, share your names and tell them that this son or daughter have sent you the ration to which the elders shower blessings on you saying, “May God shower them with abundance!”

I pray to Almighty to give you all the strength and will to continue doing your good Karma.

Sharing images of elders who receive the ration kits, I am aware it may seem inappropriate to share images of the destitute,  but we also wish for a society that extends support to bring a smile to the faces of these human beings.

નિરાધાર આ શબ્દ જ કેવો વેધક..

ક્યારેક થાય આપણે વસુદૈવ કુટુંબકમઃમાં માનીએ, એની ખુબ વાતો કરીએ તો પછી આ માવતરો નિરાધાર કેવી રીતે?

ખેર આ મુદ્દો ચર્ચાનો...

અમે 190 કરતા વધુ માવતરોને દર મહિને રાશન આપવાનું તો ક્યારેક બિમાર પડે કે અન્ય કોઈ પણ જરૃરિયાત હોય તો મદદ કરવાનું કરીએ..

મૂળ પાલક માતા પિતા સાંભળ્યું હતું અમે પાલક સંતાનો બનવાનું કર્યું..

કાગડોળે 1 થી 5 તારીખની આ માવતરો રાહ જુએ.. આ સમય દરમ્યાન અમારી ટીમ ગુજરાતના ખૂણે ખૂણેથી શોધેલા આ માવતરોને રાશન પહોંચાડે. 

જો કે માવતરોની સંખ્યા દિવસે દિવસે વધી રહી છે.. પણ સમાજમાં બેઠેલા શ્રેષ્ઠીઓ મદદ પણ કરી રહ્યા છે ને આ કાર્ય થઈ રહ્યું છે...

આ  મહિને 100 માવતરોને રાશન આપવાનું લાયન કલ્બ ઓફ શાહીબાગ થકી આદરણીય શ્રી રશ્મીકાંતભાઈ શાહે કર્યું. આ સિવાય 40 માવતરોને અશક્તા આશ્રમ ડાકોર થકી નિયમીત રાશન મળે. આદરણીય બળવંતભાઈ મેતલિયા, ડગલાસથી જયંતભાઈ અમીન જેમને હું અંકલ કહુ , એસ્ટેટ ઓફ શ્રી બોમી સોરાબજી બુલસારા, અમદાવાદથી ભાવનાબહેન મહેતા, જાયન્ટ ગ્રુપ ઓફ સેન્ટ્રલ મુંબઈ થકી મધુબહેન ગાલા - હર્ષાબહેન સંગોઈ, શ્રી પ્રસન તોલીયા એ સતત સહયોગ રાશન ને રાશન સિવાયની આ માવતરોની નાની મોટી જરૃરિયાતો માટે મદદ કરે. આ મદદમાં આ દુનિયામાંથી દૈહીક રીતે વિદાય લેવાની વેળા વખતે જોઈતો સામાન ને જીવવા માટે જરૃરિ હોસ્પીટલના ખર્ચા પણ ખરા...

આ સિવાય ઘણા પ્રિયજનો જેમણે વ્યક્તિ માવતરોને તેઓ જીવે ત્યાં સુધી  સાચવવાની જવાબદારી સ્વીકારી છે. આ બધાના નામો લખવાનું નથી કરી રહી પણ તમે સૌ પ્રિયજન છો અને તમે સૌ દર મહિને ભૂલ્યા વગર માવતરોને રાશન આપવા 1200 રૃપિયા અમારા ખાતામાં મોકલી આપો છો એનો રાજીપો વ્યક્ત કરુ છુ.

આપ સૌ પ્રત્યે કૃતજ્ઞતા અને આ માવતરોને મળુ ત્યારે આપના નામ સાથે એમને કહુ કે આ રાશન તમારા પાલક આ દીકરા કે દીકરીએ મોકલ્યું છે ત્યારે માવતર ઢગલો આશિર્વાદ આપના પ્રત્યે વરસાવે છે.. ને એ કહે છે, ભગવાન એમને ખુબ આપે... 

આપ સૌ પ્રિયજનોનું આ દુનિયામાંથી ઉપર જઈએ એ વેળાનું બેંક બેલેન્સ એકદમ મજબૂત બને તેવી પ્રાર્થના...

Instances of female infanticide for the ‘centuries-old preference’ of a male child is a practice many follow.

Although prohibited and outlawed,  recently there were arrests made in Rajkot of personnel who performed gender determination tests.

“Sons will support us as we age, will perform our last rites and ….” The parents will list out many emotional and cultural reasons for them to prefer sons over daughters. 

I know many parents who have taken refuge in old age homes despite of having sons, of sons beating their parents… it makes me question the medieval mindsets and practices.

We provide ration to Hajjan Ma and Jagshi Kaka, who do have a son. VSSM does not provide ration kits to couples or individuals who have son/s, we compel the son to care for their parents.  “Their son does not even ask their well-being, their living condition is pitiable. They live like destitute.” Ishwarbhai had told us.

Hence, we began providing monthly rations to them. However, the question of why isn’t the son looking after them always bothered me.

I had the opportunity to meet the couple during my visit to Dungarsan. I inquired about their son, “he comes and sees us once in a year, doesn’t even support us financially. We have lost hope in him. This is our destiny.”

“What will he give, these people have to feed him when he is here! It is better…” Surdaskaka speaks after he overhears our conversation.

I decided to stop the conversation here. It was better to not put them through more pain.

But examples like these should be brought to light for the understanding of ‘son-crazy’ parents.

VSSM nurtures 185 such elderly in need by providing monthly ration kits and taking care of their needs.

દીકરાની તમન્નામાં દીકરીઓને ગર્ભમાં જ મારી નાખવાનું ઘણા કરે. 

રાજકોટમાં હમણાં જ આવી રીતે ગેરકાયદેસર ગર્ભપરીક્ષણ કરનારા પકડાયા..

દીકરાની ઘેલછા રાખનાર વ્યક્તિઓને પુછીએ કે દીકરો કેમ જરૃરી તો કહે, ઘડપણની લાઠી, મરીએ ત્યાંરે કાંધ આપે વગેરે વગેરે...

હું કેટલાય માવતરોને મળુ છુ જેઓના દીકરા છે છતાં તેઓ વૃદ્ધા આશ્રમમાં જીવે છે. દીકરા મારતા હોવાનું પણ સાંભળુ છું અને રહી વાત કાંધ આપવાની તો ક્યા જમાનામાં જીવીએ છીએ એ પ્રશ્ન સતત થાય.

હજ્જનમા અને જગશીકાકાને અમે દર મહિને રાશન આપીએ. આ બેઉને દીકરો છે. દીકરો હોય તેમને અમે રાશન ન આપી. દીકરાને અમે મા-બાપની ચાકરી કરવા સમજાવીએ પણ અમારા કાર્યકર ઈશ્વરે કહ્યું, આ બેઉનો દીકરો તો ભાળ કાઢવાય આવતો નથી. ઓશિયાળા છે બેઉ.  હાલત પણ ખરાબ છે. 

એટલે અમે દર મહિને રાશન આપવાનું શરૃ કર્યું પણ દીકરો કેમ ચાકરી કરતો નથી એ પ્રશ્ન મને મૂંઝવતો.

ડુંગરાસણ ગઈ એ વખતે આ માવતરને મળવા ખાસ ગઈ ને દીકરા અંગે પુછ્યું, કાકા કહે, 'એ બારો રે. વરસે કોક દાડે યાદ આવે તો આવે. પણ પૈસા બૈસા કે ટેકો ન કરે. અમેય હવે આશા નથી રાખતા.. અમારા કરમ..'

અમારી વાતો ગામના સુરદાસકાકા સાંભળે તે એમણે કહ્યું, 'એ શું આપે? આવે તો એના ખવડાવવાની ચિંતા આમને કરવાની આના કરતા....'

કાકા- કાકી બેઉ દુઃખી હતા વધારે પુછીને એમને દુઃખી ન કરવાનું નક્કી કર્યું.

પણ દીકરા પાછળ ઘેલા મા-બાપ માટે આ દાખલો સમજવા જેવો છે.. 

ખેર આવા 185 થી વધુ માવતરોને અમે દર મહિને રાશન આપીએ. તેમની નાની મોટી જરૃરિયાતો પણ સાચવીએ...

To hold the hand and affectionately kiss it.

A medical condition in her left leg required Saarbai to opt for its amputation till the knee. She lived with her daughter and son-in-law but felt guilty to do so. “How can I eat at my daughter’s house?” Like most parents dependant of their daughters,  Saarbai too questioned herself. VSSM provides her a monthly ration kit under it’s Maavjat initiative.

I was in the region to look at the plots the Dafer families of Surendranagar’s Bhadvana village had been allotted as they will soon begin construction on the same.

Hakimbha mentioned that Saarbai had been eagerly awaiting my visit. And when I went to meet her she showered me with affection (as seen in the picture).

I feel so lucky to receive so much love and affection from these communities!!

જમાઈના ઘરે રહે પણ દીકરીના ઘરનું નો ખવાય એવું થયા કરે. અમે દર મહિને રાશન આપીયે..

સુરેન્દ્રનગરના ભાડવાણામાં રહેતા ડફેર પરિવારોને પ્લોટ મળ્યા હવે ઘર બાંધવાના થશે તે પ્લોટ ફળવાયાની જગ્યા જોવા ગઈ.

સારબાઈ કાગડોળે વાટ જોઈ રહ્યાનું હકીમભા એ કહ્યું..

ને જેવી એમની પાસે ગઈ કે ફોટોમાં દેખાય એ લાગણી વ્યક્ત થઇ..

“Why would you ask for a ration from us when others in the village are taking good care of you and providing ration to you as well?!”

“I am from this village, the people who provide feel the burden in doing so, they do not tell me so, but I can comprehend. There is a sense of awkwardness when we meet almost daily. While you outsiders, I will not be meeting you daily, so there is a little ease in asking from you!!”

Benap’s Gangama effortlessly eased off the burden of taking and giving. Of course, giving and helping the poor has never been a burden for us. 

Gangama’s husband passed away seven years ago, living behind Gangama and their son Sendhabhai who suffered some mental issues.

As age progressed, Gangama began experiencing physical challenges and mobility issues, requiring her to depend on the villagers to provide her. The residents of Benap are a generous lot especially, its sarpanch Paragbhai and other leaders. The moment  Ganagama went and stood before them they would provide grains, pulses, milk, buttermilk even before she would ask for help. Once we began providing her with the ration kit, it brought her peace, she need not have to worry about bringing food to her plate. While we were taking her leave she remarked, “Instead of Bajri flour give us the grains, I will get it milled. These flour suppliers adulterate it a lot.”

I liked the way Gangama instructed us with much authority, she considered us her own. “Sure we will send Bajri instead of flour,” we assured her before leaving Benap.

VSSM’s team takes good care of such needy elderly. Gangama is looked after by our Bhagwanbhai. VSSM is fortunate to have such hardworking and compassionate team members.

We are grateful to all of you who help us support 165 such needy elderly. It has helped us bring peace and wellness to these elders during the fag end of their lives.

'મુ આ ગોમની કેવરવું. જીમની પાહે મોહુ ઈમન મન જોઈન્ ભાર લાગ્. એ બચારા ના નઈ પાડતા પણ મારુ મન બહુ કચવાય. પણ તમે તો બારના. તમારી પાહે મોગી હકાય અને આપણે ચો રોજ રોજ મળવાના. એટલ તમન્ ક્ મન કોઈ ભાર ના રે..'

કેવી સરસ વાત બેણપના ગંગામાને માંગવાનો ને અમને આપવાનો ભાર ન રહે.. 

આમ જુઓ તો અમે નિમિત્ત હતા એટલે  ભાર તો અમનેય શાનો રહે...

ગંગામાંના પતિ સાત વર્ષ પહેલાં ગુજરી ગયા. પરિવારમાં એક દિકરો સેંધાભાઈ પણ એમની માનસીક સ્થિતિ ઠીક નહિ .

ઉંમર થતા હાથ પગ ચાલતા બંધ થયા. ગામની ઓશિયાળી વેઠવાની થતી. જોકે બેણપ ગામ સરસ ને એમાંય સરપંચ પરાગભાઈને એમના જેવા બીજાય ઘણા દયાવાન. ગંગામા એમની પાસે જઈને ઊભા રહે તો માંગ્યા વગર લોકો બાજરી, મગ, દૂધ, છાશ આપી દે..પણ અમે રાશનકીટ આપવાનું શરૃ કર્યું પછી એમને ઘણી શાંતિ થઈ ગઈ...

એમને મળીને અમે નીકળી રહ્યા હતા ત્યાં એમણે કહ્યું, 'બાજરીના લોટ કરતા આલીખા બાજરી આલજો.  આ લોટવાળા મારા બેટા ભેળશેળ કર. એટલ દળાબ્બાનું મુ કરી લઈશ. ઈની ચિંત્યા તમે ના કરતા..'

કેવા અધિકારથી ગંગામા વાત કરે મને ખુબ ગમ્યું.. હવેથી બાજરી આપીશુંની કહી અમે બેણપમાંથી વિદાય લીધી..... 

અમારા કાર્યકરો આવા માવતરોનું ખુબ ધ્યાન રાખે ગંગામાનું ધ્યાન અમારા ભગવાનભાઈ રાખે...આવા સરસ કાર્યકરો મળવા એ પણ નસીબ...

ને ગંગામા જેવા 165 માવતરોને રાશન આપવામાં મદદ કરનાર સૌ પ્રિયજનોનો આભાર... એમના સહયોગથી જ આવા માવતરોને જીવનના અંતિમ તબક્કામાં સાતા આપવાનું કરી શકાય છે.

Food, shelter and housing are the three fundamental needs of human life. Yet it is difficult to have these three together for some impoverished families. And when they face nature’s fury, the challenge to survive multiplies.  Life seems like a never-ending nightmare. 

 Covid’s second wave has snatched away livelihoods and for many, it has taken away the chief earning member of the family. As if this was not enough cyclone Taukatae ravaged the lives of many families of Saurashtra. 

 Come rain or shine, the human body will need food when it is time. With all food damaged it was either water or nothing to be fed especially for the kids in the family. Begging was the only option these families had been left with.

 Comprehending the need for time VSSM decided to supply ration kits to the affected families. So far we have been able to provide ration kits to 1500 families and we continue to reach more families. All of this has been possible because of the support we have received from our well-wishing friends who always choose to support us.

રોટી, કપડાં, મકાન માણસની પ્રાથમિક જરૃરિયાત.. પણ એક સાંધતા તેર તૂટે એવો તકાજો જેના ઘરે હોય એને આ ત્રણેય એક સાથે મેળવવું મુશ્કેલ. એમાં ક્યારેક કુદરત રુઢે ત્યારે તો જીવવું બહુ કપરુ લાગે.

કોરોનાની બીજી લહેરે કેટલાયની રોજી છીનવી તો કેટલાય પરિવારે ઘરની ધુરા સંભાળના મુખ્ય વ્યક્તિ ગુમાવ્યો. આવામાં ઓછુ હતું તે તૌકતે વાવાઝોડુ આવ્યું ને સૌરાષ્ટ્રમાં કેટલાય પરિવારનું બધુ તહેસનેહસ કરી નાખ્યું..

ગમે એવી આફત આવે પણ પેટ તો સમય થાય એટલે ભાડુ માંગે જ. પણ ઘરમાં કશું હોય નહીં ને બાળકોનેય પાણી પીને સુવડાવવા પડે અથવા વાટકો લઈને માંગવા મોકલવા પડે એ લાચારી..

સ્થિતિ સમજીને અમે રાશનકીટ આપવાનું શરૃ કર્યું. 1500થી વધુ પરિવારોને આજ સુધી રાશન પહોંચાડી શક્યા અને આ યજ્ઞ અવિરત ચાલુ છે..આ સઘળું VSSM સાથે સંકળાયેલા સ્નેહીજનોની મદદ વગર ક્યાં સંભવ હતું. 

પૂ. મોરારીબાપુ, શ્રી મહર્ષીભાઈ અને ઋતુ દવેએ સ્પર્શ થકી તો શ્રી મિલનભાઈ શાહે કુદરતી ઉપચાર ટ્રસ્ટ થકી એ સિવાય શ્રી અમીતભાઈ શાહ, શ્રી જયંતભાઈ અમીન, શ્રી બળવંતભાઈ મેતલિયા, માધવી મહેતાએે ઝાલાવાડ ચેમ્બર ઓફ કોમર્સ એન્ડ ઈન્ડસ્ટીઝ થકી તો કવિતાબેને રાજકોટની સેન્ટ મેરી સ્કૂલ થકી ટૂંકમાં ઘણા પ્રિયજનોએ મદદ કરી એટલે આ સંભવ થઈ શક્યું. આપ સૌ પ્રત્યે કૃતજ્ઞતા ભાવ વ્યક્ત કરુ છું.

આમ તો આદર્શ સ્થિતિ આવી મદદ આપણે કોઈને કરવી ન પડે એજ હોય ને એવી સ્થિતિ નિર્માણ કરવા માટે ભગવાનને પ્રાર્થના..

 ‘How can a mother be so heartless?’ I had thought when our team member Vinodbhai had shared an incident from Chotaudaipur’s Lunja village.

Three kids whose father had died, mother looked after them for a while before she left them to marry someone else. The responsibility of these children fell upon their Kaka-kaki ( paternal uncle-auntie) who already had 2 children of their own. Yet the couple decided to care for these children. The couple laboured hard to provide for all 5 children. Life continued and suddenly we were all reeling under the deadly second wave of the pandemic.  Kaka had a fever and cough, Ritaben (Kaki) assumed he will soon be alright, also there was no money to seek medical help. The issue continued for few days before Kaka passed on.

The responsibility of raising five kids fell on Ritaben. VSSM immediately brought them ration and supplies. We also offered to bring the children to our hostel once it begins functioning as usual.  As of now,  Ritaben has agreed to send them. Apart from this,  we also intend to support Ritaben’s wish to start a small business of selling vegetables either through a hand cart or kiosk.  These children can benefit under the government’s guardian scheme since their father is dead and mother has abandoned them but because the mother is still alive they aren’t eligible. We will be raising this query with the government.

Valabhai from Radhanpur’s Limbad village is an elderly gentleman. Completely blind at one eye, the second eye has partial vision. His wife also is vision impaired. Valabhai worked to earn a daily living but with age, that too has become difficult. The wife sets out to beg. The couple has 3 children. The lady who helped them the most to run the house succumbed to Covid. The living condition has gone turned worst. Valabhai too sets out to beg along with the three children. 

Every day we come across many such cases. The first thing we do is to comfort these families and provide them with ration kits. If needed we also assist with the treatment if the person is hospitalised.

The pandemic has directly and indirectly impacted all of us. The condition of daily wage earners has turned worst. So has the condition of many performing artists. The Bhavai performers never seek help from VSSM, but the pandemic has adversely impacted them as there is a ban on gatherings. Baldevbhai from Kalol has requested help on behalf of the Bhavaiya community.

In a nutshell, we are trying to help economically deprived families whose conditions have turned pathetic as a result of this pandemic. The information of truly deserving families reached us through our team at the grassroots, of by the people themselves or by individuals like Shankarbhai Chamtha, Pravinbhai Desai… Thank you for helping us reach the most impacted.

As humans if not now when will we stand beside our fellow human beings?? And as I always say, we play the role of facilitator it is you who keep the ball rolling.

મા આવું કરી શકે?

અમારા કાર્યકર વિનોદના મોંઢે છોટાઉદેપુરના લુણજાગામની વાત સાંભળી મન હચમચી ગયું.ત્રણ બાળકોના પિતા ગુજરી ગયા. માએ થોડા જ સમયમાં એ બાળકોને મુકીને બીજે ઘર માંડી દીધું. કાકા કાકીને પોતાને બે બાળકો. એમણે આ નોંધારા બાળકોની કાળજી લેવાનું શરૃ કર્યું.. મજૂરીમાં જે મળે તેમાં આ બધાનો ગુજારો ચાલે. ત્યાં કાળમૂખા કોરોનાની બીજી લહેર આવી. કાકા નેે તાવ, ખાંસી થયા. કાકી રીટાબહેનને લાગ્યું મટી જશે. વળી એવા પૈસાય ક્યાં હતા તે દવાખાને જાય.. દર્દ વધ્યું ને કાકા દેવલોક પામ્યા. હવે રીટાબહેન માથે પાંચે બાળકોની જવાબદારી આવી.. અમે તત્કાલ તો રાશન પહોંચાડ્યું, બાળકોને પણ અમારી હોસ્ટેલ શરૃ થાય એટલે અમારા ત્યાં ભણવા મુકવા રીટાબહેનને કહ્યું, એમણે હાલ તો હા પાડી છે.એ સિવાય રીટાબહેન શાકભાજીની લારી કે નાની દુકાન કરવા ઈચ્છે તો એ મદદ માટે પણ કહ્યું છે. સરકારની પાલક યોજનામાં મા-બાપ વિહોણા બાળકોને મદદ મળે. અહીંયા બાપ નથી ને મા જતી રહી છે તે બાળકોને કઈ કેટેગરીમાં મુકવા તેમને મદદ ના મળી શકે? ખેર આ તો સરકારને પુછીશું.

રાધનપુરનું લીંબડકાગામના વાલાભાઈની ઉંમર ઘણી. એક આંખે અંઘ બીજીમાં ઝાંખુ દેખાય. તેમના પત્ની પણ દિવ્યાંગ. ભાઈ મજૂરી કરતા પણ ઉંમર થતા કામ મળવાનું બંધ થયું. પત્ની ગામમાંથી માંગી લાવે ને ગુજારો ચાલે.આ બેઉને ત્રણ બાળકો. આ કોરોનામાં ઘરનું ગુજરાન ચલાવાવમાં જેમનો મોટો ફાળો રહેતો તે બહેન ગુજરી ગયા. ઘરની સ્થિતિ હવે એકદમ ખરાબ થઈ. વાલાભાઈ બાળકને લઈને માંગવા જાય..

આવા કેટલાય કિસ્સા અમારી સમક્ષ નીત આવે છે. અમે પ્રથમ તો સાંત્વના આપી રાશન આપવાનું કરીએ. એ પછી જરૃર પડે હોસ્પીટલમાં વ્યક્તિ દાખલ હોય તો સારવારમાં મદદ કરીએ.

આ સિવાય કોરાનાને લઈને સીધી નહીં પણ આડકતરી અસર થઈ હોય તેવા વ્યક્તિઓમાં રોજમદાર કામદાર તો ખરા પણ ભવાઈ ભજવતા ભવાયા જેમણે ક્યારેય અમારી પાસે મદદની માંગણી નથી કરી. પણ છેલ્લા એક વર્ષથી બેન કોરોનામાં ભવાઈ ભજવવા ક્યાંય જવાયું નથી કહીને કલોલના બળદેવભાઈ ભવાયાએ સમાજ માટે મદદ માંગી.. 

ટૂંકમાં કોરોનાને લઈને દયનીય સ્થિતિમાં મુકાયા હોય એમને અમારાથી શક્ય મદદ કરવાનું અમે કરી રહ્યા છીએ..

આફતમાં આવી પડેલા સ્વજનોની રાવ અમારા સુધી અમારા કાર્યકરો, ક્યાંક સીધા અસરગ્રસ્ત લોકો તો ક્યાંક શંકરભાઈ ચામઠા ને પ્રવિણભાઈ દેસાઈ જેવા લોકોએ પહોંચાડી.. આભાર આપ સૌનો..

Respected Morari Bapu,

“How is our family, what are they doing, how is their condition?” our respected Morari Bapu always calls up to inquire about the families VSSM works with when an emergency strikes. He is a saint, but of a different kind.

In 2011, Shri Morari Bapu with much compassion and sensitivity shared about the existence of the nomadic and de-notified communities in this world. The world woke up to the plight of one of the most excluded groups of our society.

The second wave of Covid-19 has had a devastating impact on all and the poor are doubly impacted. Respected Bapu sent Rs. 11 lacs to enable us to help these marginalised families.

The financial support VSSM has received from many of its well-wishers and friends enables VSSM is assisting families who are economically vulnerable and have had their bout with Covid, who are unable to go out and earn their living, whose businesses have suffered because of the lockdown and curfews. VSSM is providing ration kits to the families who were unable to step out for work and assisting with the treatment for Covid impacted who required hospitalisation or have had the subsequent black fungus infection. 

Along with Respected Morari Bapu, we also have Respected Krishnakant Uncle, Indira Auntie, dear Kiritbhai Shah, dear Chainikaben – Vibhavbhai, Respected Shaliniben Mariwala, respected Mukundbhai and others helping us. The help we received will make us instrumental in bringing food and treatment to the people who need it the most.

પૂ.મોરોરીબાપુ.. 

આફતની ઘડીમાં 'આપણો બૃહદ પરિવાર શું કરે છે? એમની સ્થિતિ કેવી છે?'વગેરે જેવી ચિંતા સાથે પૂ. બાપુનો ફોન અચૂક આવે.. મૂળ એ સંત જ નોખા.

વિચરતી જાતિઓ માટે બાપુએ બહુ ભાવપૂર્વક 2011માં કથા કરેલી ને સમાજ સમક્ષ આ જાતિઓની સ્થિતિની વાત પહેલીવાર પહોંચી.

કોરોનાની બીજી લહેરમાં આફતમાં આવી પડેલાં આપણા વંચિત પરિવારોની મદદ માટે પૂ.બાપુએ ભાવથી 11 લાખ મોકલી આપ્યા. 

બાપુ ઉપરાંત VSSM  સાથે સંકળાયેલા અન્ય પ્રિયજનોની મદદથી, આફતમાં આવી પડેલા આપણા સ્વજનો કે જેમની આર્થિક સ્થિતિ નબળી છે અને તેમને કોરોના થયો છે. કમાવવા જઈ શકાય એવી સ્થિતિ નથી. જેમના ધંધા સાવ પડી ભાંગ્યા છે છેલ્લા મહિનાઓથી કમાવવાનું કરી શક્યા નથી. એ બધાને રાશન આપવાનું તેમજ કોરોના થયા બાદ જેમને દવાખાનામાં દાખલ થઈને સારવાર લેવી પડી છે, કાળી ફુગમાં જે સપડાયા છે તેવામાંથી ધ્યાને આવતા સ્વજનોને મદદ કરવાનું તેમને સાતા પહોંચાડવાનું અમે કરી રહ્યા છીએ.  

આ કાર્યમાં પૂ.બાપુની સાથે આદરણીય ક્રિષ્ણકાંત અંકલ, ઈન્દિરા આંટી,  પ્રિય કીરીટભાઈ શાહ, પ્રિય ચૈનીકાબે - વિભવભાઈ, આદરણીય શાલીનીબહેન મારીવાલા, આદરણીય મુકુંદભાઈ વગેરે પ્રિયજનો પણ મદદ કરી રહ્યા છે.. પ્રિયજનોની આ મદદથી ઘણા વ્યક્તિઓની સારવારમાં તો ઘણાના ઘરના ચૂલા સળગતા રાખવામાં અમે નિમિત્ત બની શક્યા છીએ..

સંસ્થાના દરેક કાર્યમાં ભાવથી મદદ કરનાર પૂ. બાપુ તેમજ આપ સૌ સ્નેહીજનોને નમન....
