"20 Students who studied under the trees planted by you have got government jobs' '.

I was pleasantly shocked to hear this from Shri Prahaladbhai in Juna Deesa in Banaskantha District.. Never realised that there would be such an unintentional benefit of planting the trees. The trees were planted primarily for  greenery & birds/animals.

It reminded me of  Rabindranath Tagore's Shantiniketan. Today we complain about inadequate facilities in the classroom. In the days gone by there was no classroom and students used to study under the trees and shine in their careers. Many such students grew to occupy some of the most important positions in the country. The trees in Ramdevpirji Temple in Juna Deesa reminded me of this.  We plant trees in large numbers and  call them "Gramvan" ( Village Forest) . Now we can change the name & call them " Natura's library"

The students studying under the trees would also take care of  the trees. We need to have such nature's library in every village so that every student can study peacefully underneath a tree.

We have created 166 forests.  In the Juna Deesa , Rosy Blue India Pvt  Ltd helped us in creating one. The villagers of Juna Deesa and devotees of Ramdevpirji helped us in this. The local government gave us water facility.  Our caretaker Shri Rameshbhai Nat takes care of the trees like a mother. Thus with the support of various people , the trees are  growing well. 

Till now we have planted 8.50 lakhs trees, This year our target is 10 lakh trees which we will definitely achieve.

We are thankful to all our well-wishers who helped us in this mission.

બનાસકાંઠાના જુના ડીસાના પ્રહલાદભાઈની આ વાત સાંભળી હું અવાક થઈ ગઈ. અમે વૃક્ષો પશુ પક્ષીઓને આશરો મળે ને પ્રકૃતિ રાજી થાય તે માટે વાવી ઉછેરેલા પણ એનો આવો સરસ ઉપયોગ થશે એવી આશા નહોતી. 

રવીન્દ્રનાથ ટાગોરનું શાંતિનિકેતન યાદ આવ્યું. આજે નિશાળમાં ઓરડો નથી એ વાતે કાગારોળ થાય પણ એક સમયે અભાવમાં વિદ્યાર્થીઓ ભણતા ને પોતાની પ્રતિભા ઝળકાવતા. લીમડા નીચે ભણીને કેટલાય વિદ્યાર્થીઓ દેશના સર્વોચ્ચ ગણાય તેવા ક્ષેત્રોમાં ઉચ્ચ હોદ્દા પર કામ કરી રહ્યા છે. જૂના ડીસાના રામદેવપીરજીના મંદિરમાં ઉછેરી રહેલા 2500 વૃક્ષો જોઈને આ બધી વાતો યાદ આવી.

આમ તો અમે જથ્થામાં વૃક્ષો વાવી ઉછેરીયે એને ગ્રામવન કહીએ પણ હવે નામમાં જરા ફેરફાર કરી પ્રાકૃત લાયબ્રેરી પણ કહી શકાય. 

વિદ્યાર્થીઓ ભણતા ભણતા વૃક્ષોને પણ સાચવે. ગામે ગામ આ પ્રકારે વિદ્યાર્થીઓ નિરાંતે વાંચી શકે તે માટે પ્રાકૃત લાયબ્રેરીનો વિચાર અમલમાં મુકવા જેવો ખરો.

અમે 166 ગ્રામવન કર્યા. જૂના ડીસાનું આ ગ્રામવન કરવા રોઝી બ્લુ ઈન્ડીયા પ્રા.લી. કંપનીએ મદદ કરી. જુનાડીસાના ગ્રામજનો અને ભગવાન રામદેવપીરના ભક્તો પણ આમાં મદદરૃપ થાય. પંચાયત પાણીની સુવિધા આપે. અમારા વૃક્ષમિત્ર રમેશભાઈ નટ આ વૃક્ષોની માની જેમ કાળજી કરે. આમ સૌના સહિયારા પ્રયાસથી વૃક્ષો સરસ ઉછરી રહ્યા છે. 

હાલ અમે 8.50 લાખથી વધારે વૃક્ષો ઉછરી રહ્યા છીએ. આ વર્ષે 1 મીલીયન વૃક્ષો વાવી ઉછેરવાનો અમારો લક્ષાંક પૂર્ણ કરીશું... 

આ કાર્યમાં મદદરૃપ થતા સૌ સ્વજનોના અમે આભારી છીએ...

 ‘Chhod ma Ranchhod’ (God is in nature around us), this statement is always spoken up repeatedly at any public programs of tree plantation. Yet, all of us who worship the Ranchodrai presiding in the temples, do we worship the trees around us as if God was living in them? Think about it!!

Trees are the best ornaments our mother earth adorns, it is these trees who bring rains to give us water, cleans the air we breathe. In this era of technological advances, we have forgotten to value its importance in our lives. 

VSSM launched tree plantation drive in 2019. The results have been very encouraging. In 2020, the plantation drive was carried in many villages, that are now raising the planted trees very well.  

One of these many villages is Soneth. 

A tree plantation drive was carried at a crematorium used by the Thakor community. Trees that would provide dense canopy were especially selected for the occasion. Amratji Thakor decided to become the mother of these trees. I have consciously related Amratji to a mother because the only mother can shower much love and affection on her children. Amratji is doing just that to the trees. Like a mother, he nurtures and cares for them, loves them. It is this affection that has resulted in 800 trees taking roots in this small space. 

We hope to find tree lovers like Amratji in other villages too, it is only such individuals who will ensure with the hard work that each planted sapling is raised well. Hope to find more villages with such dedicated tree-lovers because they have absorbed the essence of the phrase “Chod ma Ranchod’ very well. 

Soneth’s sarpanch Shri P. R. Jadeja too assured all the necessary help to grow a forest on the holy land of this village. Sarpanch like him has been one of the reasons such drives have found favourable results. 

VSSM Naranbhai plays a pivotal role in ensuring smooth implementation of our campaign from finding the right villages to right kind of people, he identifies them all with utmost care.

બનાસકાંઠાનું સોનેથ..

'છોડમાં રણછોડ' વૃક્ષારોપણના જાહેર કાર્યક્રમોમાં થતા ભાષણોમાં આ વાક્ય વારંવાર પ્રયોજાય.. પણ મંદિરમાં રણછોરાયની પુજા કરનાર આપણે દરેક છોડ - વૃક્ષમાં સ્વંયમ ભગવાનનો વાસ છે એ રીતે પુજીએ છીએ ખરા?વિચારજો...

ધરતી માનો શણગાર વૃક્ષો.. અને આ વૃક્ષો જ વરસાદ લાવવામાં, આપણને સ્વચ્છ હવા આપવામાં ઉપયોગી.  પણ ટેકનોલોજીના આ યુગમાં આપણે હવે એનો ઉછેર કરવાનું ભૂલતા જઈએ છીએ..

અમે વૃક્ષો ઉછેરવાનું અભીયાન 2019થી શરૃ કર્યું. સારુ પરિણામ મળ્યું. 2020માં અમે ઘણા ગામોમાં વૃક્ષો વાવ્યા. ને તેનો ઉછેર પણ કરી રહ્યા છીએ. 

આ ઘણા ગમોમાંનું એક #સોનેથ..

સોનેથમાં ઠાકોર સમાજની સ્મશાન ભૂમીમાં ઘટાટોપ વૃક્ષારોપણ કર્યું. આ વૃક્ષોની મા બનવાનું સ્વીકાર્યું અમરતજી ઠાકોરે.. મા શબ્દ જાણી જોઈને પ્રયોજુ છું કારણ માની મમતા અપાર હોય.. અને અમરતજી પણ વૃક્ષો પર એવું જ વહાલ વરસાવે.. એટલે 800 ઉપરાંત વૃક્ષો આ નાનકડા સ્મશાનમાં સરસ ઊગી ગયા... 

અમરતજી જેવા વૃક્ષપ્રેમી- વૃક્ષમિત્ર બીજા ગામમાં મળે તો એવા ગામોમાં પણ અમારે 2021માં વૃક્ષારોપણ કરવું છે... 

બસ ગામો જાગે ને છોડમાં રણછોડવાળી વાતને સાચા અર્થમાં સમજે... 

સોનેથના સરપંચ શ્રી પી.આર.જાડેજાએ પણ ગામની પવિત્ર ભૂમી પર વન ઊભુ કરવા અમને કહ્યું અને એ માટે જે મદદની જરૃર પડે એ મદદ માટે તત્પરતા પણ દર્શાવી... આવા જાગૃત સરપંચને મળીને રાજીપો પણ થાય..

અમારા કાર્યકર નારણભાઈની ભૂમિકા આ બધામાં મહત્વની. યોગ્ય જગ્યા ને માણસોની શોધખોળ કરવાનું એ બખૂબીથી નિભાવે.આપ સૌની ભાવનાને પ્રણામ...

 Banaskantha’s Makhanu, my favourite village.

With an extremely  progressive Sarpanch  Bhanabhai at its realm, the village is in good hands.

The trees planted near its crematorium  have gained roots, almost 1200 of them. Narsinhbhai, the Vriksh Mitr has nurtured them well.

The care and protection the trees received prompted us to request Bhanabhai for another spot to carry out some more plantation, which he did with the support and approval from the village. 3000 trees were planted at the new spot and 2918 have taken roots.  The villagers contributed towards site cleaning, fencing and watering of the plants.

Not all villages are so supportive. Of course, if they would be doing it on their own, we would not be required. I firmly believe that if each household makes an annual contribution of Rs. 500 to 1000 for the development of their village, no government support to aid  lake deepening or tree plantation would be required.

The community at Makhnu has proved this belief to be true. It was their support that has bloomed in form of the trees. Our responsibility is to provide trees, organic pesticides and manure  if required, monthly remuneration of the Vriksh Mitr. The Vashi Foundation has supported us towards the mentioned expenses. Gratitude to Makhanu community and Vashi Foundation for their proactiveness that has resulted into such wonderful work.

We hope Makhanu community will also help identify plantation spots for 2021 where we can plant 5000 trees.

Yes it was the Sarpanch and zealous villagers who made this all possible but the support  Darghabhai and Ashokbhai  have been to the Sarpanch has helped him  accomplish this plantation drive.

We were at Makhanu to monitor the plantation efforts. Darghabhai fed us with lot of love. Our team members Naranbhai and Ishwarbhai have been the force behind these efforts. They identified the villages well.

The benefits of trees need to understood not just studied in the school. It is time village heads wake-up to the need of planting trees. And wake-up soon.

મને ગમતુ ગામ..સરપંચ ભાણાભાઈની ગામના વિકાસ માટેની લાગણી જબરી...

2019માં ગામની સ્મશાનભૂમીમાં વાવેલા વૃક્ષોમાંથી 1200 જેટલા સરસ થઈ ગયા છે.  વૃક્ષમિત્ર નરસીંહભાઈએ વૃક્ષોને સરસ સાચવ્યા.ગામની વૃક્ષો માટેની મમતા જોઈને અમે ભાણાભાઈને બીજી એક જગ્યા પસંદ કરી આપવા કહ્યું. ને ગામની સહમતી અને મદદથી એમણે સરસ જગ્યા શોધી આપી. જ્યાં 3000 વૃક્ષો અમે વાવ્યા. જેમાંથી 2918 ઉછરી રહ્યા છે.આ જગ્યાની સફાઈ, જગ્યા ફરતે કરવાની વાડ, પાણીની વ્યવસ્થા આ બધા માટે ગામના સૌએ માતબર ફાળો કર્યો. 

દરેક ગામ આવું નથી કરતું. જો કરત તો અમારા જેવાની જરૃર જ ન પડત. 500  કે 1000 રૃપિયા વાર્ષિક ગામના વિકાસ માટે ઘર દીઠ કાઢવામાં આવે તો પણ ગામના તળાવ ખોદવા કે વૃક્ષો વાવવા સરકાર કે કોઈની ખરેખર જરૃર ન પડે.. આ મારુ દૃઢ પણે માનવું છું...

ખેર મખાણુના નાગરિકોએ સહભાગીતાથી આ કરી બતાવ્યું એટલે ત્યાં આટલા સરસ વૃક્ષો વાવી શકાયા. અમારી જવાબદારી વૃક્ષોની ખરીદીની તેમજ વૃક્ષોની માવજત માટે રાખેલા વૃક્ષમિત્રને માસીક મહેનતાણુ આપવાની તેમજ જરૃર પડે ઝાડ માટે ખાતર, દવા લાવી આપવાની. 

આ માટે અમને મદદ કરી વાશી ફાઉન્ડેશને.. ગામ અને વાશી ફાઉન્ડેશનના અમે આભારી છીએ.. 

આપ બેઉંની સક્રિયતાથી આ કાર્ય થઈ શક્યું. 

અમને આશા છે, મખાણુ વાસીઓ જુન 2021 માટે પણ પોતાના ગામની એક બીજી જગ્યા શોધી આપશે જ્યાં 5000 ઝાડ વાવી શકાય.. આમ તો આ કાર્યમાં ઉત્સાહી સરપંચ સાથે ગામના સૌ જોડાયા પણ ગામના દરઘાભાઈ અને અશોકભાઈ સરપંચ સાથે ખડે પગે રહ્યા એટલે આ કાર્ય થઈ શક્યું.  

મખાણું વૃક્ષારોપણ સાઈટ જોવા જવાનું થયું એ વેળા દરઘાભાઈએ તો બહુ પ્રેમથી અમને સૌને જમાડ્યા પણ ખરા.. 

અમારા કાર્યકર નારણભાઈ, ઈશ્વરભાઈની મહેનત પણ જબરી. ગામને શોધવા એમને આ કાર્યો માટે તૈયાર કરવાનું એમણે સરસ કર્યું..

વૃક્ષના ફાયદા લખવાના નહોય આપણે સૌ એના ફાયદા જાણીએ જ છીએ...બસ વખત થઈ ગયો છે દરેક ગામે જાગવાનો... અને એ ઝટ જાગે એમ ઈચ્છીએ...

“Yes of course I will do it, there is no  task  as noble as raising  trees. These trees have favoured me a lot, I will surely take up the task.”

We  found Roopsinhbhai in Bhimpura, a person who showers love and affection on the trees as he would on  his own children.  He was responding to our inquiry whether he would be interested in taking up the responsibility of raising the trees we intend to plant  in his village as part of VSSM’s campaign to make Banaskantha green and water sufficient once again.

We have initiated the planning for the mentioned campaign of planting trees. Meetings are underway to decide the first phase of villages to be covered under the tree plantation drive during this monsoon. There are villages who have approached us with the request of planting trees in their villages. If they agree to the precondition of providing contribution and take up the responsibility of watering and caring for  the trees regularly only then will we initiate the program in any village.

We had a meeting in Bhimpura with the community leaders Khumabhai and others. They agreed to raising Rs. 20 every month per house and water the trees as well. The amount raised will serve as remuneration to be paid to the person assigned the responsibility of raising and nurturing the trees. If required VSSM shall contribute,  provided the village has played its part of raising the amount. The leadership of Bhimpura have agreed to this pre-condition.

It was Khumabhai who suggested we assign the responsibility to  Roopsinhbhai.

“If there are 4-5 households who do not pay, I will pay on their behalf, but this must be done!!” said Valjibhai.

As of now in Bhimpura we have decided  to plant trees on the banks of the newly deepened lake and the land adjoining the lake.

We are in process of identifying  villages for our tree plantation drive. By June we should have identified the villages and individuals to be assigned the responsibility of caring for the trees. We request you to begin planning in your region too,  before the onset of monsoon. It is  crucial we plant and raise as many trees possible.

ભીમપુરામાં વૃક્ષને પોતાના બાળકની જેમ પ્રેમ કરનાર રૃપસીંહભાઈ મળી ગયા. 

'અમે તમારા ગામમાં ઝાડખાં વાવવાનું આયોજન કરી રહ્યા છીએ. આ ઝાડના ઉછેરની જવાબદારી તમને સોંપવી છે તે તમે કરશો આ કામ?'

'હોવ ચમ નઈ કરુ. ઓના જેવું ઉત્તમ કોમ એકેય નહીં. અન મન આ ઝાડખાંએ ઘણો લાભ કરી આલ્યો હ્. તમ તમાર કરીશ કોમ.'

ચોમાસુ શરૃ થતા પહેલાં ક્યા ગામોમાં વૃક્ષારોપણનું કામ કરવું એનું આયોજન કરી રહ્યા છીએ. ઘણા ગામોએ અમારા ગામમાં પણ વૃક્ષો વાવવાનું કરોની વાત કરી. પણ અમારી શરત પ્રમાણે ગામ પોતે ફાળો આપે ઉપરાંત ઝાડને પાણી આપવાની જવાબદારી સ્વીકારે તે ગામમાં આ કામ કરીશું.

ભીમપુરામાં ખુમાભાઈ અને ગામના અન્ય આગેવાનો સાથે બેઠક થઈ તેમણે કહ્યું દર મહિને ઘર દીઠ વીસ રૃપિયા ફાળો અમે આપીશું. સાથે ઝાડને પાણી આપવાની જવાબદારી પણ અમારી.

આ ફાળો ઝાડના જતન માટે રાખેલા માણસના પગાર પેટે જશે. જરૃર પડે સંસ્થા પણ પગાર આપવામાં પોતાનું ભંડોળ વાપરશે પણ ગામ સહયોગ કરે તો જ સંસ્થા સહયોગ કરશે. એ શરત ભીમપુરાવાસીઓએ માન્ય રાખી છે.

રૃપસીંહભાઈને આ કામની જવાબદારી સોંપવાનું પણ ખુમાભાઈ જેવા આગેવાનોએ જ નક્કી કર્યું. ગામના વાલજીભાઈએ તો કહ્યું કે, ગામના બે પાંચ માણસો ફાળો ના આપે તો હું આપી દઈશ પણ આ કરવા જેવું કામ છે બેન....

હાલ પુરતુ VSSMના પ્રયત્નથી ખોદાયેલા તળાવની પાળ અને તળાવની બાજુના ચરામાં ઝાડ વાવવાનું આયોજન કર્યું છે..

વૃક્ષારોપણ માટે ગામોની પસંદગી થઈ રહી છે....

જુન શરૃ થતા પહેલાં બધી શરતો સાથે ગામો અને ઝાડને બાળકની જેમ ઉછેરવાની, ઝાડ પ્રત્યે મમતા દાખવાનાર માણસોની પણ પસંદગી થઈ જશે.. 

તમે પણ તમારા વિસ્તારમાં આયોજન કરો... વરસાદ આવે તે પહેલાં 

આ આયોજન થાય તે જરૃરી....
