‘Ben, those Pouaa, dialect word for Bharthari community, have lost everything. The Pouaa always begged for living. The families had managed to build little and that too got swept away. Look what has water done to all of us, these families…” this is the compassion shown by a person whose belongings got swept away and the house is filled with mud, yet he had the spirit to tell us to support the 40 Bharthari families of Dhanera while there is no need to support the families in their village, Jariya.
“So how much loss have you suffered?” we inquired.“Everything is gone, will need to start afresh!!” he replied.
Salute to the spirit of such humans who always put the needs of others before their own, even in such dire circumstances...
As an immediate support, we have given the Bharthari families food packets and tarpaulin, but the support will need to go beyond, as they need to rebuild their lives….
'બેન અમારા કરતા પૌઆ ન મદદ ની વધુ જરૂર સે કોય નહિ રયુ બાપડા કને. મોગી ખાતા. ઈમના ઘર બર ની વલે થઇ સે. ઈમન મદદ કરજો.'
જડિયામાં મદદ ના કરતા એવું કહેનારા લોકોની સામે, ધાનેરામાં 40 ભરથરી (પૌઆ) ની સ્થિતિ જોઈને જેમનું ઘર એક દોઢ ફુટ ગારાથી ભર્યું છે અને એમનું પણ બધું જ તણાઈ ગયું છે કે ખરાબ થઇ ગયું છે છતાં પોતાના ઘરની સફાઈ કરતા કરતા આર્થિક રીતે એ નાના માણસે પૌઆ ને મદદ કરવાની ભલામણ કરી. પૂછ્યું તમને શું નુકશાન થયું તો કહ્યું, 'બધું જ ગયું એકદમ એકડથી ગણતરી કરવાની છે.' છતાં પોતાને માટે મદદની ક્યાંય વાત નહિ... સલામ...ભરથરીઓએ તો, 'બેન મોંગી મોંગી ને ચાર પોચો ઑયડા કીધા તા તે જુઓન હું દશા કીધી પોણી એ?' તત્કાલ ખાવા પીવા અનાજ અને છાપરું કરવા તાડપત્રી તો આપી પણ એમને આર્થિક રીતે બેઠા કરવા અને રહી શકાય એવા ઘર પણ કરી આપવાના છે..
થશે બધું જ થશે....
