In the first phase of lockdown, VSSM did not immerse itself in the task of providing ration kit to the needy families. Whenever we received complaints about lack of food, the families were connected to the government’s efforts or other charity organisations working in the region. 

 Some nomadic families did inquire why VSSM wasn’t helping. “I hope everything is ok and there are no challenges with VSSM?” Rajkot’s Tejabapa Bawari had inquired with Kanubhai. 

 “VSSM will provide you food when there is no one come to feed you. As of now make do of whatever help you get from outside!!”

 The need for food increased once the second phase of the lockdown came into force. At many places, the families were given food packets but the families are not used to eating khichri or puri on a daily basis. They couldn’t eat it every day.  

 After the second phase of lockdown was announced we started distributing the ration kits. “I was confident that you will come for us, you will be with us until the end,” Tejabapa had told Kanubhai when he brought them ration kits. 

 “It is your faith in us that strengthens us, motivates us to keep going!” Kanubhai had replied.

 The financial assistance from the National Federation of Insurance Field Workers of India -NFIFWI has also enabled us to provide kits to 269 needy families of Rajkot and Morbi.

Kanubhai and Jeevabhai loaded more than 1000 ration kit in the tempo as help is hard to come by. Salute to you two.

The support from NFIFWI and Jewelex Foundation has also helped us reach 133 families in some villages of Kheda. VSSM’s Rajnibhai reached these families. VSSM has recently started working in Kheda, we still have to develop our relationship with the local administration and government officials. Rajnibhai had to really navigate through a complex web to get a special permit pass to commute during the lockdown. Deputy Collector Shri Ramesh Merja helped us access the pass that made it possible for Rajnibhai to reach the families in distress.

Even a simple list of families provided with the ration kits that Chayaben prepares and sends to Ahmedabad office everything seems challenging.

We are grateful to the members of NFIFWI for their contribution. Their support has helped us provide ration to 1000 families. 

લોકડાઉનના પહેલાં ફેઝમાં અમે રાશન આપવાનું કે લોકોને જમાડવાનું કશુંયે કર્યું નહીં. અમને જમવાનું નથીની ફરિયાદો જ્યાંથી મળતી તેમને અમે સરકાર કે વિવિધ સેવાભાવી સંસ્થાઓ સાથે જોડવાનું કર્યું.

આ દરમ્યાન અમારા કેટલાક પરિવારોને VSSM કેમ મદદ નથી કરતું તેવા પ્રશ્નો થયા.

રાજકોટના તેજાબાપા બાવરીએ તો અમારા કાર્યકર કનુભાઈને કહ્યું પણ ખરુ, 'કાંઈ તકલીફ તો નથી ને?'

કનુભાઈએ કહ્યું, 'જ્યારે તમને ખાવાનું આપવાવાળુ કોઈ નહીં હોય ત્યારે અમે આપીશું. હાલ જે છે એમાં ચલાવો..'

લોકડાઉનની અવધી લંબાઈ અને રાશનની જરૃરિયાત વધી. કોઈક જગ્યાએ કોઈ રાંધેલું આપી જતા પણ એ અમારા આ પરિવારોને બહુ ભાવ્યું નહીં. મૂળ તો ખીચડી કે પુરી એ એમનો ખોરાક નહીં વળી રોજ આ બધું કેટલું ભાવે?

અમે રાશનકીટ આપવાનું શરૃ કર્યું. તેજાબાપા પાસે કનુભાઈ રાશનકીટ લઈને પહોંચ્યા તો એમણે કહ્યું, 'મને અંદરથી વિસવા હતો કે તમે આખર હુદી અમારી પડખે રહેશો..'

કનુભાઈએ કહ્યું, 'તમારી અંદરની એ શ્રદ્ધા જ અમને કાર્ય કરવાની પ્રેરણા આપે છે..'

રાજકોટ અને મોરબીમાં રહેતા 269 જરૃરિયાત મંદ પરિવારોને અમે નેશનલ ફેડરેશન ઓફ ઈન્સ્યુરન્સ ફિલ્ડ વર્કર્સ ઓફ ઇન્ડિયા ( NFIFWI ) ના આર્થિક સહયોગથી રાશનકીટ આપી..

કાર્યકરો પણ કેવા સંનિષ્ઠ છે. કનુભાઈનો એક વિડીયો મે પોસ્ટમાં મુક્યો છે.

રાશનની દુકાનમાંથી આટલી વજનવાળી રાશનકીટો હાથેથી ઉપાડીને તેમણે અને જીવાભાઈએ જાતે ટેમ્પામાં ભરી છે. લગભગ 1000 કરતા વધુ કીટો આ રીતે ઉપાડીને ભરી હશે.. તમને બેયને સલામ..

નેશનલ ફેડરેશન ઓફ ઈન્સ્યુરન્સ ફિલ્ડ વર્કર્સ ઓફ ઇન્ડિયા ( NFIFWI ) અને જવેલેક્ષ ફાઉન્ડેશનની મદદથી ખેડાના કેટલાક ગામોમાં પણ 133 રાશનકીટનું વિતરણ કાર્યકર રજનીભાઈ દ્વારા કરવામાં આવ્યું.

ખેડામાં VSSM એ હમણાંથી કાર્ય શરૃ કર્યું છે. તંત્ર સાથે બહુ ઘરોબો રજનીભાઈને કેળવાયો નથી. છતાં તકલીફમાં આવી પડેલા આપણા માસણો સુધી રાશન પહોંચે એ માટે પાસ મેળવવા એ ખુબ મથ્યા.

ડેપ્યુ. કલેક્ટર શ્રી રમેશ મેરજા સાહેબની મદદથી પાસ મળ્યો ને એમણે જરૃરિયાતવાળા પરિવારને રાશન પહોંચાડ્યું.

VSSM ટીમના દરેક કાર્યકર યોદ્ધા જેવા છે. કનુભાઈની પાછળ છાયાબહેનની યાદી બનાવવાથી લઈને ઓફીસ પહોંચાડવાની સખત મહેનત...
