A journey that began with 5 elderly has reached 240 as we identify more elderly in need of support...

VSSM provides monthly ration kits to elders
in need

Destitute is a word that gives away an individual’s vulnerability and helplessness.

An individual surrounded by society, family, village yet lonely..

An able-bodied individual hardly needs or seeks help from others, but once the age catches up and the body refuses to function as desired the need for support arises.

The ability to work reduces with age but the biological need to fill up hungry belly doesn’t go away. How do people who have no one to support feed themselves? Well, they depend on ration from our PDS with some help from the elderly pension. Some beg or wait for neighbours to give away extra food.

The painful survival conditions of such elderly was heart-wrenching to witness. VSSM decided to provide monthly ration kits to elders in need. The elderly pension helps them buy milk and vegetables. VSSM also pitches in when there is a need for medical support. We recently learnt that many seniors had lost access to PDS ration because the biometric machines could not read their fading fingerprints.

Of course, VSSM will help bridge this technical gap. In nutshell, VSSM tries its best to bring well-being back into the lives of such elders in need.

A journey that began with 5 elderly has reached 240 as we identify more elderly in need of support. We try and ensure that the ration kit reaches them between the 1st to 5th of each month so that they do not become anxious over food. The images shared here are from this month’s ration kit distribution.

નિરાધાર શબ્દ જ કેવો વેધક છે..સમાજ, કુટુંબ, ગામ બધાની વચ્ચે ઘેરાયેલા હોવા છતાં એકલા..

હાથ પગ ને મગજ બધુએ સાબદુ હોય તો કોઈની ક્યાં જરૃર પડે. પણ પ્રશ્ન ધીમે ધીમે અંગો ઢીલા પડે ને પછી કામ કરવાનું જ બંધ જાય ત્યારે ઊભો થાય.

કામ થાય નહીં પણ વખત થાય એટલે પેટ તો ભાડુ માંગે. શું કરવું? બસ પછી.યાચક બનવાનું. રેશનકાર્ડ પર મળતું રાશન તો જીવવાનો કેવડો મોટો આધાર. થોડું વૃદ્ધ પેન્શન પણ મળે ને રહી જાય તે આસપાસમાં માંગી આવવાનું અથવા પડોશી વઘેલું ઘટેલું આપી જાય એની રાહ...

આવા માવતરોની સ્થિતિ જોઈને આંતરડી કકડી ઊઠી. ને મદદ મહિનો ચાલે એટલા રાશનની કરવાની નક્કી કર્યું. પેન્શન ને સરકારી રાશનમાંથી એ શાક, દૂધ લાવે. જો કે હમણાં ખ્યાલ આવ્યો કે, ઘણા માવતરોના અંગૂઠા આંગળીઓની છાપ ઘસાઈ ગઈ છે તે રાશન એમને મળતું નથી..

ખેર એ માટે કોશીશ કરીશું આ સિવાય ક્યાંક કોઈને દવાનો ખર્ચ વધુ હોય તો એય મદદ કરીએ તો.ટૂંકમાં આ માવતરોના જીવને સાતા થાય કે એમનું કોઈ છે એ બધુ કરવા કોશીશ કરીએ.

પાંચ માવતરોથી શરૃ કરેલો આ કાર્યક્રમમાં નીત માવતરો જોડાતા જાય છે. આજે સંખ્યા 240 પહોંચી. દર મહિનાની 1 થી 5 તારીખમાં અમે કોશીશ કરીએ રાશન આપી દેવાની જેથી એમન ચિંતા નહીં..આ મહિને રાશનની વહેંચણી થઈ રહી છે તેમાંથી કેટલાક માવતરોના ફોટો એમને મળેલી રાશનકીટ સાથે મુકી રહી છું.

મૂળ આપમાંથી ઘણા આ માવતરોના પાલક બન્યા છો. પાલક થકી આપ દર મહિનાનો રાશન ખર્ચ આપો છો.આથી તેમને ખ્યાલ આવે માટે ખાસ ફોટો ને જેઓ હજુ પલક નથી બન્યા તે જોડાઈ શકે એક માવતરના પાલક બની શકે તે માટે પ્રોત્સાહીત થઈ શકે માટે. વધુ વિગત માટે 90999-36013 પર સંપર્ક કરવા વિનંતી...

મદદ કરનાર સૌ સ્નહીજનોના નામ નથી લખતી. મૂળ એ યાદી ઘણી લાંબી છે પણ તમે સૌ મદદ કરો છો માટે જ આ થઈ શકે છે માટે આપ પ્રત્યે કૃતજ્ઞતા વ્યક્ત કરુ છું.
