A village pledging to raise trees; what more could we ask for? The villagers of Banaskantha’s Surana village did not wait for others to come and work for the betterment of their village, they decided to work for themselves beginning with cleaning the gando-baval covered cemetery. They also enclosed the area with a compound wall and barbed wire fence and created water facility. It was after they accomplished these tasks that they contacted us for tree plantation. When the partners are so proactive, how can we not support? VSSM, with financial assistance from Rosy Blue India we planted more than 3000 trees in Surana’s cemetery and school premises.

Chandubhai has been assigned the responsibility of Vriksh-Mitra, he will care and nurture the saplings for 3 coming three years. VSSM will pay him the remuneration for the responsibilities he will carry out. Arrangements have also been made for drip irrigation to avoid wastage of water. Surana Sarpanch and many other leaders have been helping us with the plantation but Virambhai works with same passion as that of Vriksha Mitr.

Our team members Naranbhia, Chiragbhai and Ishwarbhai are working hard to ensure maximum trees are planted this monsoon. It is due to them we could find such responsible villages to work with.

Hoping for a Banaskantha that is so green that the Rain Gods find no reason to not bless them with rains and water…  

ગામ પોતે વૃક્ષ ઉછેર માટે કટીબદ્ધ થાય એનાથી રૃડુ એકેય નહીં. કોઈ આવે ને મારા ગામમાં લોક કલ્યાણાના કાર્યો કરે એની રાહ બનાસકાંઠાના સુરાણાગામના લોકોએ ન જોઈ. જાતે કટીબદ્ધ થયા ને ગામનું બાવળ આચ્છાદીત સ્મશાન સાફ કર્યું. તેની ફરતે દિવાલ અને જરૃર પડી ત્યાં તાર ફ્રેન્સીંગ કર્યું. સાથે પાણીની વ્યવસ્થા પણ. 

આમ પચાસ ટકા કાર્ય પૂર્ણ કર્યા પછી અમને વૃક્ષ ઉછેરમાં મદદ માટે કહ્યું. આવા જાગૃતગામમાં તો હોંશે હોંશે મદદ કરવાનું મન થાય. અમે રોઝી બ્લુ ઈન્ડિયાની મદદથી સુરાણાના સ્મશાનમાં અને નિશાળમાં 3000 થી વધુ વૃક્ષો વાવ્યા ને હજુ વધારે વૃક્ષો વાવવાનું ચાલુ છે.

ત્રણ વર્ષ સુધી આ વૃક્ષોની સંભાળ ગામના ચંદુભાઈ રાખશે.. અમે એમને મહેતાણું આપીશું. પાણી માટે ડ્રીપની વ્યવસ્થા પણ કરી જેથી પાણીનો બગાડ ન થાય. 

ગામના સરપંચથી લઈને ઘણા આગેવાનો આ કાર્યમાં મદદ કરે. પણ વીરમભાઈની મદદ વૃક્ષમિત્ર જેટલી જ..

અમારા કાર્યકર નારણભાઈ, ચીરાગભાઈ અને ઈશ્વરભાઈની મહેનત ઘણી.. આવી સરસ જગ્યાઓ શોધવાનું તેમના શીરે... 

જળ દેવને બનાસકાંઠામાં મન મુકીને વરસવું ગમે એવું હરિયાળુ બનાસકાંઠા ઝટ બને એવી અભ્યર્થના...
