On the festival of Holi, a special gift from Collector Shri. Dilip Rana…….

Holi-the festival that heralds the season of spring,  is the most important  festival for the nomadic tribes. Forgetting the pains and perils of the past year they  celebrate Holi with lot of gaiety and fanfare.  They dance, sing and enjoy to their heart’s content. They pray to Almighty to allow the happiness and joy this festival brings to continue in their lives.  

This year’s Holi has brought tremendous cheer and joy  in the lives of 149 families of  Tharad and 70 Diyodar in Banaskantha, the reason being the government’s decision to allot residential plots to these families. If we were to quote them, “ Moj pari gayi- its an extremely  joyous news,” was their reaction to this decision. The ones responsible in brining such joy are the officials especially Collector Shri. Dilip Rana who has understood the emotions of these families. After the applications were received he  ensured that the families do not have to make rounds of the concerned offices. He upheld the dignity of these families. They just twice confirmed that the applicants were really needy, thats it. Officials like Shri. Rana do not demand but command respect, should be true role models for other bureaucrats.  We salute you ’SIR' . 

There are many families who are in need of such warmth and care,  with a senior bureaucrat and  Collector like Shri. Rana and his equally dedicated team of officials we are sure these communities will continue to witness such compassionate pro-needy actions.

હોળીની શુભેચ્છા રૂપી સુંદર ભેટ આપનાર કલેકટર શ્રી દિલીપ રાણા 

વિચરતી જાતિઓનો સૌથી મોટો તહેવાર હોળી. આખું વર્ષ વેઠેલી યાતનાને આ દિવસોમાં ભૂલીને તેઓ મન મુકીને નાચે, મોજ કરે.. અને સાથે સાથે જીવનમાં હોળીનો ઉલ્લાસ હંમેશા સચવાય..એવી પ્રભુ પ્રાર્થના કરે..

વર્ષ ૨૦૧૫ની હોળી બનાસકાંઠાના થરાદમાં અને દિયોદરમાં પોતાનું કાયમી સરનામું બનાવવા ઈચ્છતા અનુક્રમે ૧૪૯ અને ૭૦ પરિવારો માટે હર્ષ અને આનંદ લઈને આવી. એમની ભાષામાં કહીએ તો મોજ પડી ગઈ અને આ મોજ અપાવવામાં નિમિત બન્યું બનાસકાંઠા જીલ્લાનું વહીવટી તંત્ર. તેમાંય કલેકટર શ્રી દિલીપ રાણાએ તો આ પરિવારોની મનોભાવના  બરાબર જાણી. ના કોઈ ધક્કા ખવડાવ્યા, બસ જરૂરિયાતવાળા છે એની ખાત્રી કરી અને એમને ખુબ માન અને પ્રેમ સાથે હોળીની શુભેચ્છા રૂપી આ સુંદર ભેટ આપી. આજે કલેકટર શ્રીને ખરા અર્થમાં સાહેબ કહેવાનું મન થાય સાથે સાથે વિચરતી જાતિના લોકો એમને વંદન પાઠવે અને અમે સૌ સો સલામ કરીએ છીએ... હજુ ઘણા પરિવારો છે જેમને આવી જ હુંફ અને પ્રેમની જરૂર છે પણ જયા સુધી દિલીપ રાણા જેવા સમાહર્તા અને એમની સાથે ખભે ખભા મેળવી ચાલતું વહીવટીતંત્ર છે ત્યાં સુધી આવી અનોખી ભેટ મળ્યા જ કરવાની એવી શ્રદ્ધા હવે વધી રહી છે..  ફરીવાર

We are hopeful that the Saraniyaa families of Nagalpur will soon find a place to build their homes….

25 Saraniya families have been staying near the Naglpur bus stand in Mehsana for many years now. These families are still involved in the traditional occupation of sharpening knives and tools. VSSM has been making efforts to get residential plots allotted to these families, but has seen no progress on the applications till now. With no choice left we presented this case to the Mehsana district Collector Shri. Lochan Sahera. He asked us to prepare the application and present it to the Mamlatdar. Which we did and 6 months later the applications yet have to  see light of the day!!!!

Again on 23rd February 2015  we again took our concerns to the Collector Shri. Sahera. We have requested him to call for a meeting chaired by him to review all the pending applications made by VSSM and nomadic communities. The need to do so emerged as for a long time  most of the applications made by VSSM have not been processed by the local authorities. 

The meeting has been called on 4th March 2015 and we are hopeful that all the pending tasks pertaining to the Nomads will soon be addressed and these Saraniyaa families of Nagalpur will get plots to build their homes.

નાગલપુરમાં રહેતાં સરાણીયા પરિવારો કાયમનું સરનામું મળશે એવી આશા છે....

મહેસાણાના નાગલપુર વિસ્તારમાં રહેતાં ૨૫ સરાણીયા પરિવારો વર્ષોથી નાગલપુર બસ સ્ટેન્ડ પાસે વર્ષનો ઘણો ખરો સમય વસવાટ કરે અને પોતાના પરંપરાગત વ્યવસાય છરી ચપ્પાની ધાર કાઢવાનું કામ કરે. આ પરિવારોને રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ મળે એ માટે છેલ્લાં ઘણા વખતથી રજૂઆત કરતાં હતાં પણ કોઈ કાર્યવાહી આગળ ધપતી નહોતી. છેવટે કલેકટર શ્રી લોચન સહેરાને રજૂઆત કરતાં એમને દરખાસ્ત તૈયાર કરીને મામલતદાર શ્રીને આપવા કહ્યું. દરખાસ્ત તૈયાર કરીને આપે છ મહિના જેટલો સમય થયો પણ કામની ગતિ ધીમી પણ નહિ બંધ જ કહેવી હોય તો કહી શકાય. એટલે કામ આગળ ધપે જ નહિ. 

છેવટે ૨૩-૨-૧૫ના રોજ કલેકટર શ્રી સમક્ષ રજૂઆત કરી અને મહેસાણા જીલ્લાના જેટલાં પણ પેન્ડીંગ કામો છે એ તમામ કામનું રીવ્યુ થાય એ માટેની બેઠક એમની અધ્યક્ષતા હેઠળ ગોઠવાય એમ કરવાં વિનંતી કરી. (મૂળ તો મહેસાણા જીલ્લામાં કોઈ કામ છેલ્લાં ઘણા સમયથી થતાં જ નહોતા એટલે આ વિગતે વાત કરી)

તા.૪ માર્ચ ૨૦૧૫ના રોજ ૧૧:૦૦ વાગે એમણે બેઠકનું આયોજન કર્યું છે. અમને આશા છે કે, વિચરતા સમુદાયોના તમામ પેન્ડીંગ કામો ઝડપથી પૂર્ણ થશે અને નાગલપુરમાં રહેતાં ફોટોમાં દેખાય છે એ પરિવારોને કાયમનું સરનામું એટલે કે રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ ફાળવાશે.

No one bothers to discuss such pains of the marginalised...

 A lot of nomadic families have come and settled in Ahmedabad. VSSM has supported these families acquire their identity documents as a result of the support nearly 4000 families have acquired Voter ID cards in 2014. It becomes imminent to mention here that along with VSSM’s efforts the cooperation of the officials and sensitivity of Chief Electoral  Officer has played a major role in realising this task. CEO Smt. Anita Karval has been instrumental in a huge way in helping these families acquire their first ever identity proofs. The need to do such write-ups arise because sadly we do not have sensitive officials like her in every department. 

After the Voter ID cards were received applications were fined for Ration cards. Since last one year the applicant families as well as VSSM team members have been making rounds to the concerned offices without any progress on the matter.  Some examples  of the answers we get to hear are:

1. Today the concerned official is on leave, and on the next day we are told the same official has gone on leave for two months. ( surprisingly there is no one else in charge)

2. We allot 10 days a month to work on ration cards and its related issues so come during those days!!!

3. Work pertaining to ration card is done from 11 am to 2 pm, you are late so come again..

4. It ain’t possible that so many families don’t have ration cards..

5. You are 70 years old and its just not possible that till now you don’t have a ration card!! Go and get a ration card cancelled evidence from the place you held your previous ration card..

6. As if nomads do not feel hungry the question they pose is -  Why would you need a ration card if you are  a nomad??

we can just go on and on - the list is endless. Everyday the team struggles with same questions and attitude…

On 16th February 2015 37 individuals along with VSSM’s Chayaben went to Maninagar Zonal office to submit ration card applications. The authorities at the zonal office giving arguments like mentioned above. Even after lot of arguments they refused to accept the forms. Ultimately Chayaben and the applicants went to the head office of Civil Supplies in Laldrawaja, Ahmedabad. The complaint was made to the head of civil supplies. He called the office at Maninagar and asked them to accept the forms. Next day when Chayaben accompanied by the applicants reached the office  she was made to sit outside the office while the applicants were called inside!!

After checking the forms the lady official asked Gitaben (one of the applicant) , “How much did you spend to fill up this form?”

“ Rs. 200” replied Gitaben.

Post this inquiry the official noted the address of Giraben, called Chayaben inside and jotted down details of VSSM, her role in the organisation etc. After this she asked Gitabe to sign the paper. Gitaben couldn’t read but she was taught by Chayaben to not  sign any document  without reading it. So she handed over the paper to Chayaben to read it aloud. The official restrained her from doing so but Gitaben insisted on reading it first.

Chayaben began reading, it said,’VSSM’s team member Chayaben takes Rs. 200 per form from the applicants. They are not workers but brokers…’ before Chayaben could complete reading tit Gitaben interrupted, “Chayaben hasn’t charges a single penny, instead she stands by us everytime we need her, the money we gave is to the advocate to get an affidavit done.’ Even after such crude  revelation the official had no remorse. 

Chayaben asked for the paper to be handed to her but the official refused.   They were not happy about the fact that 17 forms had to be accepted, "we shall go for a survey and shall proceed with the application only after we find stated details appropriate.” It felt like they were their to find faults with the application and not facilitate the process of helping the needy. These officials forget the fact that all that the poor are entitled from a ration card is ration and not a ‘Bunglow’. Looking at the poverty these families stay in all are entitled to a BPL or antyoday ration card but here the officials resist issuing even an APL ration card. With such state of affairs one wonders sometimes that are these officials on job to issue the ration cards or to not issue ration cards???? Unfortunately people at large hardly know about the difficulties encountered in acquiring a mere and humble ration card….

The current status under which these applicants survive…. 

વંચિત માણસોની આ બધી તકલીફની ક્યાંય ચર્ચા સુધ્ધા થતી નથી.

અમદાવાદમાં વિચરતા સમુદાયના ઘણા પરિવારો આવીને સ્થાઈ થયા છે. પોતાની ઓળખના પુરાવા અપાવવામાં vssm વહીવટીતંત્રની મદદથી નિમિત બને છે. જેના કારણે અમદાવાદ શહેરમાં વસતા ૪૦૦૦ ઉપરાંત લોકોને ૨૦૧૪માં મતદાર કાર્ડ મળી શક્યા. આ બધું શક્ય બને છે તે વિભાગના વડાની સંવેદનશીલતા ના કારણે. મતદારકાર્ડની પ્રક્રિયા સરળ થઇ આદરણીય શ્રી અનિતાબહેન કરવાલ મુખ્ય નિર્વાચન અધિકારીના કારણે પણ બધે અનિતાબહેન જેવા અધિકારી નથી એ કડવી વાસ્તવિકતા છે.

અમદાવાદમાં લોકોને મતદારકાર્ડ મળ્યાં એટલે રેશનકાર્ડ માટે પ્રયન્ત શરુ કર્યો પણ છેલ્લા એક વર્ષમાં એક પણ વ્યક્તિને રેશનકાર્ડ મળ્યા નથી. કાર્યકરોની સાથે સાથે સમુદાયના લોકોને નર્યા ધક્કા જ ખાવાનાં. 

(૧) આજે સાહેબ કે બહેન રજા ઉપર છે! બીજા દિવસે જાય તો બહેન તો બે મહિનાની રજા ઉપર છે!(જાણે બહેન જતા રહે એટલે ઓફીસ જ બંધ થઇ જાય) (૨) અમે મહિનામાં ૧૦ દિવસ રેશનકાર્ડનું કામ કરીએ છીએ. એ તારીખો માં આવજો! (૩) ૧૧ થી બે માં જ રેશનકાર્ડના કામ થાય છે તમે મોડા છો! (૪) આટલાં બધા વ્યક્તિઓના રેશનકાર્ડ ના હોય એવું બને જ નહિ! (૫) તમારી ઉંમર ૭૦ વર્ષની થઇ અને તમે કહો છો કે, રેશનકાર્ડ અત્યાર સુધી કઢાવ્યું જ નથી બને જ નહિ. જાવ જે જગ્યાનું રેશનકાર્ડ હોય ત્યાંથી રદ કરાવ્યાનો દાખલો લઇ આવો! (૬) વિચરતા છો તો પછી તમારે રેશનકાર્ડની શું જરૂર છે! (જાણે આ પરિવારોની જરૂરીયાતને એ લોકો નક્કી કરવાના ના હોય) અધિકારી જે કારણો લખે છે એ બધા લખું તો એક પાનું તો આરામથી ભરાઈ જાય. પણ રોજ કાર્યકરોની રેશનકાર્ડ બાબતે આજ માથાકૂટ હોય.. 

તા.૧૬ ફેબ્રુઆરી ૧૫ના રોજ ૩૭ વ્યક્તિઓ રેશનકાર્ડના ફોર્મ સાથે મણીનગર ઝોનલ ઓફીસમાં  vssmના કાર્યકર છાયાબહેન સાથે ગયા. ઝોનલ ઓફીસમાંથી ઉપર જણાવ્યા પ્રમાણેના કારણો આપ્યાં. ખુબ રકઝક થઇ. પણ ફોર્મ ના સ્વીકાર્યા. આખરે અરજદારો સાથે જીલ્લા પુરવઠાની ઓફીસ –લાલદરવાજા જઈને પુરવઠા અધિકારીને રજૂઆત કરી. એમણે મણીનગર ઝોનલ ઓફીસમાં ફોન કરીને ફોર્મ સ્વીકારવા કહ્યું. બીજા દિવસે ફોર્મ લઈને છાયા બહેન અરજદારો સાથે ગયા એટલે અધિકારી બહેને છાયાને બહાર જ બેસવા કહ્યું. અને અરજદારને અંદર બોલાવ્યાં.

ફોર્મ તપાસ્યા પછી અરજદાર (ગીતાબેન)ને અધિકારી બહેને કહ્યું, 

‘આ ફોર્મ ભરવા માટે કેટલો ખર્ચ થયો?’ 

‘૨૦૦ રૂપિયા’

બસ આ સાંભળી અધિકારી બહેને કોરા કાગળ પર ગીતા બહેનનું સરનામું લખ્યું, બહારથી છાયા બહેનને બોલાવ્યા અને તમારી સંસ્થા અને હોદ્દો વગેરે પૂછ્યું અને કાગળમાં બધું લખવા માંડ્યા. લખાણ પૂરું થયું પછી ગીતાબહેનને કહે અહિયાં સહી કરો. ગીતાબહેનને વાંચતા ના આવડે પણ છાયાબહેનના શિક્ષણના કારણે વાંચ્યા વગર સહી નહિ કરવાનું શીખી ગયેલાં. એમણે કાગળ આપવાં અધિકારીને કહ્યું, અધિકારીએ આપ્યો એટલે ગીતાબહેને છાયાબહેનને વાંચવા આપ્યો. અધિકારીએ ના પાડી તો ગીતાબહેને કહ્યું, ‘વાંચવો તો પડેને બહેન!’

છાયાએ કાગળ વાંચ્યો એમાં લખ્યું હતું કે, ‘vssm ના કાર્યકર છાયા પટેલ અરજદારો પાસેથી રેશનકાર્ડના ફોર્મ ભરવાનાં રૂ.૨૦૦ લે છે. આ દલાલો છે..’ છાયા વાક્ય પૂરું કરે અને કંઈ કહે એ પહેલાં જ ગીતાબહેને કહ્યું, ‘છાયાબહેન તો અમારી પાસેથી એક રૂપિયો પણ નથી લેતાં ઉલટાનું અમારી કંઈ પણ તકલીફમાં હંમેશા સાથે ઉભા હોય છે.’ અધિકારીબહેને કહ્યું, ‘તમે કહ્યું ને અમે રૂ.૨૦૦ ફોર્મ પાછળ ખર્ચયા.?’

‘એ તો અમારી પાસે બીજા કોઈ ગામનું રેશનકાર્ડ નથી એવું સોગંદનામું કરી આપનાર વકીલને આપ્યાં હતાં.’ આટલું થયું તો પણ એ બહેનના મોઢા પર જરાય ભોંઠપ નહોતી. 

છાયા કહે છે, ‘મેં એમણે લખેલું લખાણ આપવા કહ્યું પણ એમણે ના આપ્યું. પરાણે ૧૭ ફોર્મ લેવા પડ્યા. પછી કહે, ‘તપાસમાં આવશું. બરાબર લાગશે તો જ આગળ વિચારીશું.’ અને મારો તો જાણે વાંક કાઢવા બેઠા હોય એવું જ લાગતું હતું.’

રેશનકાર્ડ ફક્ત રાશન માટે છે વળી પાછા આ બધાની સ્થિતિ પ્રમાણેના કાર્ડ BPL કે અંત્યોદય તો આ લોકો આપવાના નથી! APL આપશે છતાંય જાણે એક વ્યક્તિ બે કે ત્રણ રેશનકાર્ડ મેળવી લેશે અને બંગલો બનાવી દેશે એ રીતે અધિકારી એમની સાથે માથાકૂટ કરશે. કયારેક તો કેવી રીતે રેશનકાર્ડ ના આપવું એ માટે જ એ બેઠા હોય એમ લાગે. પણ આપણા દેશની કરુણ વાસ્તવિકતા એ છે કે વંચિત માણસોની આ બધી તકલીફની ક્યાંય ચર્ચા સુધ્ધા થતી નથી.

જે પરિવારોની રેશનકાર્ડ માટે અરજી કરે છે તેઓ જે સ્થિતિમાં રહે છે એ ફોટોમાં જોઈ શકાય છે. 

"What if they accuse us of stealing??"

Recently the government allotted residential plots to 6 Saraniyaa and 4 Vansfoda families. Along with these nomadic families plots were allotted to 30 families from other marginalised communities as well. The plots had been allotted on government land but for now the land is been used by famers to complete post harvest processes of their crops. 

On 13th February 2015, the Mamlatdar Shri. Kaushik Modi accompanied by few police officials went to the allotted land to complete the process of giving possession.  He  got going the work of measuring and marking the land.  Then villagers got the news of the activity and rushed to the area in huge numbers. The started shouting that we are not parting with this land all of this was being recorded on a video camera. They also had a lawyer along and the  situation began getting a bit tensed. The lawyer said this allotment was illegal. Shri. Kaushik  handled the situation well and was patiently  trying to explain the present crowd that the land its government land and its the needy and extremely poor who are getting this land, they can do all the  harvest related activities in their own fields like other farmers do!! They did not need a special place to complete the cleaning and thrashing of grains!! The beneficiaries of this land live in inhumane conditions and the government’s responsibility is towards them! But nobody was ready to listen to the Shri. Kaushik. Ultimately he lost his patience and ask everyone to come to his office, hearing this the crowd became quite. Shri. Kaushik finished the measurement and division of land into plots. He assured the nomad families there was nothing to be afraid of and they should shift to this place as soon as possible. 

In the evening after the completion of measuring and plotting  task the Saraniyaa and Vansfoda families shared their concern with VSSM’s Mohanbhai, “Will these villager allow us to stay here, Mohanbhai? Shri. Kaushikbhai has asked us to shift to the new place but the land is still occupied by the farmers and their harvested grains are piled there, if we begin staying there under shades they can accuse us of stealing their grains!! We do not want to move under such tensed circumstances.We shall move once we begin the construction process” Such fear from other humans!!!! But we are glad that in this case the authorities are with them. All we wish is to begin the construction at the earliest.

અમે છાપરાં નાખીએ અને ગામલોકો ચોરીનો આરોપ મુકે તો?

પાટણ જીલ્લાના ચાણસ્મામાં રહેતાં ૬ સરાણીયા, ૪ વાંસફોડા પરિવારોને સરકાર દ્વારા રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ ફાળવાય. આ પરિવારોને જ્યાં પ્લોટ આપ્યાં ત્યાં અન્ય સમુદાયના વંચિત ૩૦ પરિવારોને પણ સરકારે પ્લોટ આપ્યા. પરંતુ આ ૪૦ પરિવારોને ફાળવાયેલી જગ્યા પર ખેડૂતો ખળું કરતાં. પણ મૂળ આ જ્ગ્યા સરકારની માલિકીની. 

પ્લોટ ફાળવણીના હુકમ પછી કબજો અપાવવા મામલતદાર શ્રી કૌશિક મોદી તા.૧૩-૦૨-૧૫ કેટલાંક પોલીસ કર્મી સાથે સ્થળ પર પહોચ્યાં. તેમણે પ્લોટની માપણી કરી જમીન પર માર્કિંગનું કામ શરુ કરાવ્યું કે ગામના લોકોને ખબર પડી. ગામલોકો મોટા ટોળામાં જગ્યા પર આવ્યાં સાથે મુવી કેમેરા પણ રાખ્યા અને આ જગ્યા અમે કોઈને નહિ આપીએ એવું જોર જોરથી બોલવા માંડ્યા. વાતાવરણ તંગ થઇ ગયું. સાથે વકીલ પણ હતાં એમણે પણ મામલતદાર શ્રી સમક્ષ આ ગેર કાયદેસર છે વગેરે જેવી વાત કરી. મામલતદાર શ્રીએ ખુબ પ્રેમથી સમજાવ્યું કે, ‘આ જગ્યા સરકારની છે અને સરકાર જરૂરિયાત મંદોને આપે છે. તમે આ જગ્યા ખરવાડ માટે વાપરો છો પણ તમે તમારાં ખેતરનું ધાન તમારાં ખેતરમાં જ સરખું કરીને ઘરે લાવી શકો. હવે મોટાભાગના ગામોમાં આજ રીતે લોકો કરે છે અને તમે પણ એમ કરશો તો ખરવાડની જરૂર નહિ રહે. વળી આ જગ્યા જેમને આપી છે એ ખુબ ગરીબ માણસો છે જે ખુબ અમાનવીય દશામાં રહે છે સરકારની પહેલી ફરજ એમના માટે છે અને એટલે જ એમને જમીન ફાળવાઈ છે.’ પણ મામલતદાર શ્રીનું કોઈ સંભાળવા જ તૈયાર નહિ. આખરે કોઈ રસ્તો ના રહેતાં એમણે સૌને કહ્યું, ‘અહિયાં કોઈ માથાકૂટ ના કરો જે કહેવું હોય તે કચેરીમાં આવીને કહેજો.’ આ સાંભળી લોકોએ બોલવાનું બંધ કર્યું. મામલતદા

ર શ્રીએ પ્લોટની ફાળવણી કરી દીધી અને ખુંટ પણ મારી દીધા. એમણે આ પરિવારોને ડરવાની જરાય જરૂર નથી એમ કહી વહેલી તકે આ જગ્યા પર રહેવાં આવી જવા કહ્યું.

સાંજે માપણી પત્યા પછી સરાણીયા અને વાંસફોડા પરિવારોએ vssmના કાર્યકર મોહનભાઈને કહ્યું, ‘મોહનભાઈ આ ગામના લોકો અમને આ જગ્યા પર રહેવાં દેશે? મામલતદાર સાહેબે હાલ તે જગ્યા પર રહેવાં જવા કહ્યું છે પણ હાલમાં તો એમનું(ખેડૂતોનું) અનાજ વગેરે ખેતીનો માલ ત્યાં પડ્યો છે અમે ત્યાં જઈને છાપરાં નાખીએ અને ગામલોકો અમારા ઉપર ચોરીનો આરોપ મુકે તો? હાલ રહેવાં નથી જવું. એક વાર ઘર બાંધવાનું શરુ થાય પછી જઈશું.! કેટલો ડર છે આ પરિવારોને! પણ આનંદ એ વાતનો છે કે વહીવટીતંત્ર એમની સાથે છે. ઝડપથી એમના ઘર બાંધકામનું કામ શરુ થાય એવું ઇચ્છીએ છીએ..

"We shall need to change and we are heading in that direction” Rvjibhai

Rvjibhai Bharthari is a resident of Bhavsor village of Mehsana’s Vijapur block. The traditional occupation of the Bharthari community is to sing lullabies and its an occupation that involves lot of wandering. However Rvjibhai could not afford to keep wandering because of the pending application he and other 14 fellow Bharthari families had made for acquiring residential plots for settling permanently in Bhavsor. Once the applications are filled  it requires frequent follow-up visits. There are number of peripheral needs related to the applications that need to be addressed. In such situation it was necessary Rvjibhai stayed around Bhavsor. Thus, Ravjibhai chose to stay in the village while his two sons continued singing lullabies. 

So if he is not working/wandering what are the options he has to earn living. As such he did not like to spread his arms and beg. VSSM’s Tohid ignited in Ravibhai’s mind the need to do something more and different so as to set an example for the society. Tohid kept giving him options but the decision of what can be done had to be Rvjibhai’s. Finally Rvjibhai decided to set up a snack store. He did not know anything more on the subject. Where to get the necessary stuff to get the store running  and other logistics had to be explored!! He took a loan of Rs. 30,000 from VSSM. With this money it was necessary to plan appropriately and avoid unnecessary expenses where ever possible. Since he was unaware of a lot of business related requirements he shared his concerns with Tohid. Thad in turn shared the concerns of Rvjibhai with his father Zafarbhai. Thad has a habit of sharing work related issues and developments with  members of his family. The family intern tries to support whenever it can. Infact we at VSSM are lucky to have a great team and equally supportive families of these team members. Zafarbhai who happens to be a retired employee of Gujarat State Transport Corporation knew how he could be helpful to Rvjibhai. “Ask him to come along with me to Ahmedabad, I’ll take him to take the wholesale market their,” Zafarbhai offered to help Rvjibhai. 

So together they bought the necessary raw material, vessels, took a gas connection. A shade was build and a snack house became operational. One of the sons of Rvjibhai now stays back to help him run the business. Gradually things are gathering pace. Other Bharthari families are approaching for ideas and support to start a venture. They are eager to work for themselves. Thad and Rvjibhai are thinking what can be done. Rvjibhai wants that the community members find some work soon. These families too want to make a shift. As Rvjibhai says, “people these days tell us to work instead of playing Ravanhatta and begging. They now do not believe in giving these days. Work we should how long can we depend on others?? They are right we need to change, we should be working, I am glad I have began working and this change will bring a change within my community too.."

અમારે બદલાવું પડશે અને એની અમે શરૂઆત કરી દીધી છે- રવજીભાઈ 

રવજીભાઈ ભરથરી મહેસાણા જીલ્લાના વિજાપુર તાલુકાના ભાવસોર ગામમાં રહે. બાપીકો વ્યવસાય એટલે રાવણહથ્થા પર હાલરડાં અને ભજનો ગાવાના અને એ માટે ગામે ગામ ફરવાનું. પણ રવજીભાઈ ભાવસોરમાં રહેતાં ૧૪ ભરથરી પરિવારોને સ્થાઈ થવાં પ્લોટ વગેરે અધિકાર મળે એ માટે પ્રયત્નશીલ અને આ કામો માટે ગમે તે ઘડીએ ક્ચેરીમાં જવું પડે આમાં ફરવાનું પોષાય નહિ. એટલે એ સ્થાયી રહ્યાં. પરિવારમાં બે દીકરા એ રાવણહ્થ્થો લઈને એમની ભાષામાં કહીએ તો ફેરી કરવાં જાય. રવજીભાઈને આ માંગવા જવાનું બહુ ગમે નહિ એમાં વળી vssmના કાર્યકર તોહીદનો સુર મળ્યો. માંગવું નથી અને ‘સમાજમાં ઉદાહરણરૂપ બનવા શું કરવું?’ એ રવજીભાઈ વિચારે. તોહીદ એમને નવા-નવા વ્યવસાયની વાતો કર્યા કરે. એમાંથી રવજીભાઈએ નાસ્તા હાઉસ કરવાનું નક્કી કર્યું. પણ સમાન ક્યાંથી લાવવો, સસ્તો ક્યાંથી પડે વગેરે જેવી માહિતી નહિ. vssm પાસેથી રૂ.૩૦,૦૦૦ ની લોન લીધી અને એમાંથી જ બધું આયોજન કરવાનું. એટલે સસ્તું અને સારું મળે એ જરૂરી પણ ખરું.

એમણે તોહીદને મૂંઝવણ કહી. તોહીદના પરિવારમાં પણ તોહીદ દિવસ દરમ્યાન કરીને આવેલાં કામો અંગે ચર્ચા કરે. એનો પરિવાર તોહીદના કામથી ખુબ ખુશ. એના પિતા જફરભાઈ ‘ગુજરાત સ્ટેટ રોડ ટ્રાન્સપોર્ટ કોર્પોરેશન’ના નિવૃત કર્મચારી. તોહીદે રવજીભાઈની ચિંતા પરિવારમાં જણાવી. જફરભાઈ સજ્જન માણસ. એમણે તોહીદને કહ્યું, ‘અરે એમાં શું મુંઝાવાનું કાલે રાવજીભાઈને કહે મારી સાથે અમદાવાદ આવે અમે પાનકોરનાકથી સસ્તો અને સારો સમાન લઇ આવીશું.’ (vssmના દરેક કાર્યકરનો પરિવાર ખુબ સારો છે અને એટલે જ આ બધા કામો થઇ શકે છે. કાર્યકરોના આ પરિવારને નતમસ્તક વંદન.)

આમ રસોડાનો સામાન આવ્યો, છાપરું બનાવ્યું. ગેસનું કનેક્શન લીધું અને કરીયાણું લાવીને નાસ્તા હાઉસ શરુ કર્યું. રવજીભાઈનો એક દીકરો એમની મદદમાં રહ્યો. ધીમેધીમે બધું ગોઠવાઈ રહ્યું છે. રવજીભાઈનો વ્યવસાય જોઇને બીજા ભરથરી પરિવારો પણ અમને કંઇક વ્યવસાય સુઝાડો? અમે પણ કામ કરીશું, એમ કહી રહ્યા છે.. તોહીદ અને રવજીભાઈ આ બધા માટે શું કરી શકાય એ વિચારી રહ્યા છે.. જલ્દી બધા થાળે પડી જાય એવું રવજીભાઈ ઈચ્છે છે. એ કહે છે, ‘પહેલાં ખુબ ફર્યા અને એના ઉપર જ અમારું ચાલતું પણ હવે લોકોના મન ટૂંકા થઇ ગયા છે લોકો રાવણહ્થ્થો વગાડો છો એના કરતાં મહેનત કરોને એવી સલાહ આપે છે. એ લોકો સાચા પણ છે, અમારી કોઈ સામે ફરિયાદ નથી. પણ અમારે બદલાવું પડશે અને એની અમે શરૂઆત કરી દીધી છે એનો આનંદ છે.’ 

“ Have you brought GARBAGE??"

Mehsana is one of those districts that has large concentration of nomadic tribes. And the conditions of the nomads here is no different. There is an obvious apathy of officials towards these communities. Many of the issues are unresolved even after 3 years of applications. Repeated requests and yet no movement on the pending matters is a nagging situation for anyone be it the community member or a team member. On 23rd February we had an appointment with the District Collector to discuss all these long standing issues. We were both surprised and relieved when the Collector asked us,”why aren’t your issues resolved?” VSSM’s Tohid and Jayantibhai replied, “ It seems our issues fall short on officials priorities!! If you could call and chair  a meeting of the concerned officials these issues might get resolved soon!”

A meeting has been called on 4th March. The collector asked us to make a list of our concerns and submit it to his P.A. 

The following stream of conversation is between Tohid and the P.A. to the collector. It is Tohid’s narration. 

“ Have you come with garbage?” questioned the P.A. (he used the word ukedo a gujarati work for the garbage dumps that line the empty spaces in villages and cities)

'This attitude and statement really angered me a lot. Does these communities look like garbage? I resisted my urge to reply back, gave the applications and left his office. But I am surely going to mention this incident in the meeting on 4th, I am going to tell the collector because such officials consider the communities garbage they dump  their applications in trash!'

One can absolutely relate to the anger Tohid was experiencing. Even lesser educated Tohid found such language disgusting to hear and officials don’t even think twice before speaking it out!! The officials behave as if they are to spend money from their own coffers!! Tohid’s anger is momentary, after working for these communities for many years now he has learnt to forget and forgive!! As he says, "I feel sorry for these officials who even at 50 haven’t learnt the skill of talking to people they are appointed to serve.”

A few years back the Devipujak families of Vijapur when visiting the collector’s office (in the picture below) had told us, “It’s because you are along they have allowed us to enter the office, otherwise these officials wouldn’t let us  enter this premises!!’ And on 23rd Feb after all these years  Saraniyaa community members repeated similar feelings to Tohid after they heard the language of the P.A. “ If you are not along these people wouldn’t allow us to enter their offices!!"

ઉકેડો લઈને આવ્યાં છો?

તા.૨૩-૨-૧૫ ના રોજ મહેસાણા જીલ્લામાં વસતા વિચરતી જાતિના પ્રશ્નો સંદર્ભે કલેકટરશ્રીને મળવા જવાનું થયું. ઘણી વસાહતોના પ્રશ્નો અને નીચેના સ્તરે કામમાં ધીમી ગતિ. કોઈક વસાહતમાં તો પ્રાથમિક પ્રશ્ન માટે રજૂઆત કરે ૩ વર્ષ જેટલો સમય થયો છતાં એનો ઉકેલ આવ્યો નથી. વારંવારની રજૂઆત. આખરે આજે કલેકટરે સામેથી કહ્યું, ‘તમારાં પ્રશ્નોનું સમાધાન કેમ થતું નથી?’ vssmના કાર્યકર તોહીદ અને જયંતીભાઈએ કહ્યું, ‘આ કામો પ્રાથમિકતામાં આવતાં નથી. પણ આપની અધ્યક્ષતામાં બેઠક થાય અને સબંધિત અધિકારી હાજર રહે તો નિવેડો ઝટ આવે.’ 

એમણે ૪થી માર્ચ ૨૦૧૫ના રોજ વિચરતી જાતિના પ્રશ્નો સંદર્ભે જીલ્લાના સંબંધિત અધિકારી સાથે બેઠકનું આયોજન કરવાનું નક્કી કર્યું અને આપણી રજૂઆત તેમનાં પી.એ.ને આપવા કહ્યું. તોહીદ કહે છે એમ, ‘બેન પી.એ. પાસે પહોચ્યો કે એણે મને જોઇને તુરત કહ્યું, ‘ઉકેડો લઈને આવ્યાં છો?’ મને બહુ જ ગુસ્સો આવ્યો. આમારા આ બધા માણસો ઉકેડા જેવા છે? પણ હું કંઈ બોલ્યો નહિ અને વિગતો આપી દીધી. પણ હું ૪થીની બેઠકમાં કહીશ કે અધિકારીને મન આ જાતિઓ ઉકેડા જેવી છે અને એટલે જ એને ઉકેડાની જેમ ફેંકી દીધી છે..’

એનો ગુસ્સો સમજી શકાય એમ છે. ઓછું ભણેલાં તોહીદને આ ભાષા અભદ્ર લાગે છે તો અધિકારીને એ કેમ નહિ ખૂંચતી હોય? અને વળી માંગણી જે પણ હોય અધિકારીના ખિસ્સામાંથી તો કશું આપવાનું થતું નથી તો આટલી પરેશાની એમને કેમ છે? ખેર તોહીદનો ગુસ્સો ક્ષણીક છે એને માફ કરતાં આવડી ગયું છે. પણ એ કહે છે એમ ‘કોઈને દુભે એવું ના બોલવાની સમજણ ૫૦ વરસેય અધિકારીમાં આવી નથી એટલે એમની તો સૌથી વધારે દયા ખાવાની..હોય ને બેન...’

વિજાપુરના દેવીપૂજક પરિવારો પાંચ વર્ષ પહેલાં પોતાની રજૂઆત માટે કલેકટર કચેરીમાં આવ્યાં હતાં તે વેળાની આ તસવીર છે અને એ વખતે એમણે અમને કહ્યું હતું કે, ‘તમે અમારી સાથે ના આવો તો અમને આ લોકો (અધિકારી) કચેરીમાં ઘુસવા પણ ના દે.’ આજે તા.૨૩-૦૨-૧૫ ના રોજ તોહીદ સાથે આવેલાં નાગલપુરના સરાણીયાભાઈઓએ પણ કલેકટર શ્રીના પી.એ.નું આ વાક્ય સાંભળી પાંચ વર્ષ પહેલાં દેવીપૂજક પરિવારોએ જે કહ્યું હતું એજ કહ્યું કે, ‘તમે ના આવો તો આ લોકો અમને ઘુસવા પણ ના દે!

And we hope for the best…

On 12th February 2015, following a directive of Smt. Anandiben Patel, a meeting to understand the basic challenges  and find solutions to the issues faced by the nomadic tribes  was organised by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment.  The Additional Chief Secretary could not chair the meeting because of medical condition but very senior officials from Department of  Health, Department of  Civil supplies, Welfare board, Cottage industries, Department of forest and environment, Commissioner Rural Development, Home department participated in  the meeting. The discussions focused o n resolving social and economic issues faced by  these communities. Inspite of being the first of its kind senior level meeting we are hopeful for some concrete solutions emerging from this exercise.

નક્કર આયોજન થશે એવી આશા..

તા.૧૨ ફેબ્રુઆરી ૨૦૧૫ન રોજ મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી આનંદીબહેનની સુચનાથી વિચરતી જાતિના મૂળભૂત પ્રશ્નોને સમજવા અને એના નિરાકરણ માટે સામાજિક ન્યાય અને અધિકારીતા વિભાગના અધિક મુખ્ય સચિવની અધ્યક્ષતામાં બેઠક યોજાઈ ગઈ. જોકે આધિક મુખ્ય સચિવ નાદુરસ્ત તબિયતના કારણે ઉપસ્થિત ના રહ્યા પણ એ સિવાય, વિકસતી જાતિ કલ્યાણ ખાતું, વન અને પર્યાવરણ વિભાગ, અન્ન નાગરિક પુરવઠા, આરોગ્ય વિભાગ, ગ્રામ વિકાસ કમિશનર, કુટીર ઉદ્યોગ, ગૃહ વિભાગમાંથી સચિવ કક્ષાના અધિકારીઉપસ્થિત રહ્યા અને વિચરતા પરિવારોના આર્થિક, સામજિક પ્રશ્નોના નિરાકરણ માટે વાત કરી. જોકે આ પ્રથમ બેઠક છે કેટલું થશે એની ખબર નથી પણ નક્કર આયોજન થશે એવી આશા ચોક્કસ છે.

Like the Meer these 18 families are also in need of residential plots.. so we give them plots!!

The 18 Vansfoda and Gadaliya families of Duchakwada, Khanodar and Lakhni villages Banaskantha’s Diyodar needed residential plots for settling down. It had been a while since  we had mentioned this need to the district Collector, the question the authorities faced  was where to plots?? The officials had already tried to allot plots in some villages in Diyodar but there was severe opposition by the villagers. Finally  additional collector Shri. Khantsaheb suggested to allot plots in the village of Lakhni advising us to probe if these nomadic families were ready for it or not?

The families were asked if they were prepared to stay in Lakhni village after their affirmation VSSM’s Naran prepared applications and submitted it to the Mamlatdar of  Lakhni Shri. Thakorsaheb. There was some resistance from the villagers. Actually there are some Meer families staying in the village of Lakhni so the villagers said, ‘ these Gadaliya and Vansfoda do not stay here,  whereas the Meer families have been staying here for quite a few years now, why not give plots to Mir?’ Shri. Thakorsaheb had to explain to them that ‘ the Meer are not considered to be nomadic community, once they get a caste certificate of nomadic community plots will be allotted to them as well. But like the Meer these 18 nomadic families are needy so why not give them plots first?’  Nobody opposed but none was happy about it too. However, Shri. Khantsaheb and Shri. Thakorsaheb are positive  that things will fall in place!! As we await these families getting their permeant addresses…………

‘મીરની જેમ જ આ ૧૮ પરિવારો પણ જરૂરિયાત વાળા છે. એટલે આપણે પ્લોટ આપીએ’

બનાસકાંઠાના દિયોદર તાલુકાના ડુચકવાડાના ૭, ખાણોદર-૮ અને લાખણી તાલુકાના ચાળવા ગામમાં ચોમાસું પસારકરતાં ૩ ગાડલિયા અને વાંસફોડા પારીવારોને સ્થાઈ રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ મળે એ માટે છેલ્લા ઘણા વખતથી કલેકટર શ્રી સમક્ષ રજૂઆત કરી હતી. પણ એમને ક્યાં પ્લોટ આપવા તે સૌથી મોટો પ્રશ્ન હતો. દિયોદર તાલુકાના કેટલાંક ગામોમાં આ પરિવારોને પ્લોટ મળે એ માટે પ્રયત્ન કર્યો પણ ગામ લોકો એ ખુબ વિરોધ કર્યો. આખરે પ્રાંત કલેકટર શ્રી ખાંટ સાહેબે ૧૮ પરિવારોને લાખણીગામમાં પ્લોટ આપવાની વાત કરી પણ આ પરિવારો સહમત છે કે કેમ તે જોઇને આ નક્કી કરવા અંગે કહ્યું.

લાખણીમાં રહેવાં સહમતી બાબતે ૧૮ પરિવારો સાથે vssm ના કાર્યકર નારણે વાત કરી. પરિવારો સહમત થયાં એટલે નારણે લાખણી મામલતદાર શ્રી ઠાકોર સાહેબને મળીને ૧૮ પરિવારોની દરખાસ્ત આપી. ગામના લોકોએ થોડો વિરોધ કર્યો. મૂળ તો ગામમાં મીર પરિવારો પણ છે એમણે કહ્યું, ગામમાં ઘણા વખતથી ચોમાસું રહેતાં મીરને પ્લોટ આપોને. ગાડલિયા અને વાંસફોડા અહિયાં ક્યાં રહે છે તે એમને આપો છો?’ પણ પછી મામલતદાર સાહેબે સૌને સમજાવ્યા કે, ‘મીરને વિચરતી જાતિનું પ્રમાણપત્ર મળે પછી એમને પણ પ્લોટ આપી શકાશે. પણ મીરની જેમ જ આ ૧૮ પરિવારો પણ જરૂરિયાત વાળા છે. એટલે આપણે આપીએ’. કોઈએ વિરોધ ના કર્યો પણ કોઈને ગમ્યું પણ નહિ.. પણ મામલતદાર સાહેબ અને ખાંટ સાહેબ કહે છે, એમ બધું ગોઠવાઈ જશે. આ પરિવારો પણ પોતાનું કાયમી સરનામું મળે એની રાહમાં છે.

Fabrication is my passion…..

Babubhai Bajaniya is a resident of Detroj village of Ahmedabad District. He makes a daily commute to Kadi town to work in a fabrication workshop as a skilled workman. The everyday commute and indefinite working hours took a toll on his health. He was advised to stay home and take adequate bed rest. The bed rest of 4 months made him jobless as well. With no other job on hand he began working on daily basis as fitter for tin shades. It was not a fixed job and working as a fabricator all his life, he was too good at it so this was not  something he enjoyed  doing. He loved his earlier job. Fed up with the uncertainties of searching of work everyday he decided to set up his own fabrication unit. But how to go about it,  an enterprise requires funds?? This ain’t some kind of work that could be done on a road side!!  Such a unit requires a proper shop, three phase power supply! What to do was the big question he faced. 

Detroj was soon going to be a town place and people knew Babubhai well, they wished he start a workshop in Detroj itself. If a fabrication workshop came up in Detroj it  had  the potential of doing good business.  The only issue was of the start up capital. Babubhai  a dedicated community leader,  is an active VSSM volunteer, always present when needed. He shared his concern to VSSM’s Jayantibhai, asking him to inquire if any bank would loan him some funds. Jayantibhai conveyed to him that VSSM will support his endeavour,  asked him to go ahead with his plan.  

Babubhai eyed a shop situated on the outskirts of Detroj on the Ahmedabad-Bechraji road. Babubhai approached Kantubha Jhala the owner of the shop with the proposal to rent it. 

‘How much is the investment?’ inquired Kantubha.

’30,000’  Babubhai replied. 

‘ Would that be enough? Fabrication unit requires lot more!! continued Kantubha.

‘Yes, I know. I do not have funds, organisation is helping be with Rs. 25,000 the rest 5,000 I shall manage.’ said Babubhai

‘ Partner with me, I shall invest some money, I already have a shop.’ proposed Kantubha.

Babubhai was quick to accept the proposal. It was decided that the rent will go Kantubha, Babubhai will take Rs. 9000, the salary of a skilled worker and the profit shall be equally shared between both.

Today Babubhai, apart from the monthly fixed salary of Rs. 9,000 takes home Rs 10,000 to 12,000 a month. 

He also supports the other nomadic family who are in need of small loans. ‘I am unable to give my  time but since I earn well the  least I can do is give money. Its my responsibility  towards others.'

જીવ તો વેલ્ડીંગના કામમાં જ..

બાબુભાઈ બજાણિયા અમદાવાદ જીલ્લાના દેત્રોજગામમાં રહે અને કડીમાં વેલ્ડીંગની દુકાનમાં કારીગર તરીકે કામ કરવાં જાય. રોજ દેત્રોજ થી કડી અપડાઉન અને વળી જવાનો સમય નક્કી હોય પણ આવવાનો નક્કી નહિ. તબિયત બગડી. ચાર મહિના પથારીમાં રહેવું પડ્યું એટલે નોકરી પણ છૂટી ગઈ. છેવટે પતરાં ફીટ કરવાનું કામ શરુ કર્યું. પણ આ કામ કાયમી મળે જ એવું નહીં. વળી જીવ તો વેલ્ડીંગના કામમાં જ. વર્ષોથી એ કર્યું હતું એટલે એ વધારે ગમતું પણ.

વેલ્ડીંગનો સ્વત્રંત વ્યવસાય કરવાનું નક્કી કર્યું. પણ એ માટે નાણા જોઈએ. વળી આ કંઈ રોડ પર છાપરું નાખીને શરુ કરી શકાય એવું કામ નહિ. દુકાન જોઈએ. થ્રી ફેઝ લાઈટનું જોડાણ પણ જોઈએ. શું કરવું? ગામમાં રહેતાં લોકો એમના કામને જાણે વળી દેત્રોજ પણ હવે તાલુકો બન્યો છે એટલે દેત્રોજમાં જ વેલ્ડીંગની દુકાન થાય તો ઘણો લાભ થાય એમ હતું. પણ પૈસાની વ્યવસ્થા કયાંથી કરવી? બાબુભાઈ vssmના કામને ખુબ સારી રીતે જાણે અને જરૂર પડે સાથે આવીને ઉભા પણ રહે. ટૂંકમાં અમારા સક્રિય આગેવાન. એમણે પોતાની મૂંઝવણ vssmના કાર્યકર જયંતીભાઈને કરી અને કોઈ બેંક લોન આપે તો અપાવવામાં મદદરૂપ થવાં વાત કરી. જયંતીભાઈએ એમને vssm માંથી લોન મળશે એમ કહ્યું અને ધંધા સંદર્ભે તમામ આયોજન કરવાં પણ કહ્યું. 

દેત્રોજમાં જ અમદાવાદ બેચરાજી રોડ પર જેમની દુકાનો હતી એવા કાન્તુભા ઝાલાને ભાડેથી દુકાન આપવા બાબુભાઈએ વાત કરી. કાન્તુભાએ બાબુભાઇને પૂછ્યું કે, ‘કેટલાનું

રોકાણ કરવાનું છે?’ ‘રૂ.૩૦,૦૦૦નું.’

‘વેલ્ડીંગમાં તો ઘણું થઇ શકે?

‘હા પણ મારી પાસે મૂડી નથી સંસ્થા મને રૂ.૨૫,૦૦૦ ની લોન આપશે અને રૂ.૫૦૦૦ હું કાઢીશ.’

‘મારી સાથે ભાગીદારી કર. હું થોડું રોકાણ કરું. દુકાન તો મારી પાસે છે જ’

બાબુભાઈ એ આ વાતને વધાવી લીધી. કારીગર તરીકે એમને રૂ.૯,૦૦૦ નો પગાર, દુકાનનું નક્કી ભાડું કાન્તુભા લે અને નફો થાય એ અડધો અડધો. એમ નક્કી કર્યું. 

હાલમાં રૂ.૯,૦૦૦ ના પગાર સિવાય એવરેજ મહીને રૂ.૧૦,૦૦૦ થી રૂ.૧૨,૦૦૦ બાબુભાઈ કમાઈ લે છે. 

વિચરતી જાતિના કોઈ પણ કામમાં નાની આર્થિક મદદ પણ એ કરે છે.. એ કહે છે, ‘હું સમય નથી આપી શકતો પણ પૈસા કમાઉ છું એટલે મારી શક્તિ પ્રમાણે મદદરુપ થઈશ અને એ મારી ફરજ પણ છે’

We hope..

On 19th January 2015 we had a meeting with the Chief Minister Respected Smti. Anandiben Patel, to discuss issues pertaining to the Nomadic tribes. No introductions were necessary as she is aware about the activities of VSSM. The application made by us on the concerns relating to the nomads was immediately sent to ‘ Department of Social Justice and Empowerment’ with ta note to call for a meeting ASAP to resolve the long standing issues. 

A meetig has been called to discuss the various issues affecting the nomadic tribes on 12th February 2015 which will be presided by the Additional Chief Secretary Shri Dagur -Department of Social Justice and Empowerment. We hope it turns out to be a fruitful meeting. 

Smt. Anandiben Patel had remained present during the Ramkatha by Shri Morari Bapui. She was then the Revenue Minster of Gujarat, it was under her leadership that the  resolution of allotting residential land to the nomadic families was issued. We are deeply grateful for her concern and sensitivity towards these communities.

શુભ થશે એવી આશા..

૧૯ જાન્યુઆરી ૨૦૧૫ના રોજ વિચરતી જાતિના પ્રશ્નો સંદર્ભે મુખ્યમંત્રી આદરણીય શ્રી આનંદીબહેન પટેલને મળવાનું થયું. આમ તો તેઓ વિચરતી જાતિના આપણા કામને ખુબ સારી રીતે જાણે એટલે વધારે કશું કહેવાનું નહોતું. એમને આપેલી રજૂઆત એમણે ‘સામાજિક ન્યાય અને અધિકારીતા વિભાગ’ને મોકલાવી આપી અને આ પ્રશ્નોનું સમાધાન સત્વરે થાય એ માટે ઝડપથી બેઠક ગોઠવવા બાબતે પણ લખ્યું.

તા.૧૨ ફેબ્રુઆરી ૨૦૧૫ના રોજ વિચરતી જાતિના પ્રશ્નો સંદર્ભે ‘સામાજિક ન્યાય અને અધિકારીતા વિભાગ’ના અધિક મુખ્ય સચિવ શ્રી ડાગુરસાહેબે એમના અધ્યક્ષપણા હેઠળ વિચરતી જાતિને સ્પર્શતા તમામ મુદ્દા પર બેઠકનું આયોજન કર્યું છે. શુભ થશે એવી આશા પણ છે.. 

વિચરતી જાતિ માટે પૂજય મોરારી બાપુએ vssmને આપલી રામકથામાં આદરણીય આનંદીબહેન ઉપસ્થિત રહ્યા. તે વખતે મહેસુલ ખાતું તેઓ સંભાળતા અને વિમુક્ત જાતિને રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ ફાળવવાનો ઠરાવ કરવામાં તેઓ નિમિત પણ બન્યાં. તેમની આ સમુદાય પ્રત્યેની લાગણી માટે એમનો હ્રદય પૂર્વક આભાર વ્યક્ત કરીએ છીએ.. રામકથા વખતે વિચરતી જાતિને સંબોધતા શ્રી આનંદીબહેન..(ફાઈલ તસવીર)
