| Nomadic women spoke their heart before the present media |
To our great relief the public demonstration by women of Ramdevnagar settlement against the rampant prevalence and addiction to alcohol and drugs within their families was accomplished peacefully. Initially, there was some resistance from the police department against this public program to demonstrate the outrage nonetheless, they decided to remained present during the program and helped us carry it out without any untoward incident.

Ms. Jadeja, PI- Satellite Police Station has our gratitude. After remaining present during the program she promised us to partner with many more of such demonstrations and programs.
We are also grateful to our friends in the media for their support. The agitating women spoke their heart before the present media to help us all understand the gravity of the issue.

“This needs to be a continuous effort, a movement and we all are prepared to fight it out till the end!” was the prevalent mood amongst these women.

Just before the program Neniben, who had played a leading role in this entire initiative was deeply shaken. She feared the alcoholics and other vested interests would kill Madhuben, VSSM’s valiant team member who tirelessly works with the community of Ramdevnagar and other urban settlements. Neniben telephoned us half an hour to the program and cried narrating her fears.
However, during the program she was an icon of strength and courage inspiring fellow women to come forward and fear nothing.

It was an accepted fact that many women who participated in the demonstration would be either beaten or physically abused by their addicted spouses, ‘whatever the outcome, we will not sit quite and tolerate this nuisance.’ We salute all these women who braced the opposition from within their families and came forward to voice their anger and discontent.

“I am not someone to be satisfied with little, I want more, I want this movement against alcohol and drugs to spread in other ghettos of Ahmedabad. Once our gang of Pink and Blue is we will march ahead to spread into other areas!!” says Madhuben, one of our most courageous team member.
The tireless efforts Madhuben puts in has all our support and salutations.

આખરે દારૃ ગાંજાની વિરોધનો કાર્યક્રમ સુખરૃપ પાર પડ્યો. પોલીસે મંજુરી નહોતી આપી. પણ પોલીસ આવી અને સુખરૃપ કાર્યક્રમ કરવામાં મદદ પણ કરી.
સેટેલાઈટ પોલીસ સ્ટેશનના પી.આઈ. મીના બા ઝાલા બહેનનો આભાર.. એ પણ કાર્યક્રમથી પ્રભાવીત થયા અને હવે સાથે રહીને આગળના કાર્યક્રમ કરીશું તેવું તેમણે કહ્યું. આભાર બહેન..

મિડીયાના સૌ મિત્રોનો આભાર. મિડીયાાના મિત્રો પાસે બહેનોએ પોતાની કાલીઘેલી ભાષામાં એમની પીડા વર્ણવી.
'બહેન સતત લડવું પડશે અને આપણે લડીશું' એવી તૈયારી બધીએ બહેનોએ બતાવી.

અમારા લીડર જેવા નેનીબહેન થોડા ડરી ગયેલા. મને અને આ બહેનો સાથે સતત કામ કરતા અમારા બાહોશ કાર્યકર મધુબહેનને આ લોકો મારી નાખશે એવો તેમને ભય હતો. આજે કાર્યક્રમના અડઘા કલાક પહેલાં ફોન કરીને ખુબ રડ્યા પણ ખરા.

છતાં તેમણે હીંમત દાખવી અને તેમને જોઈને વસાહતની અન્ય બહેનોએ પણ હિંમત દાખવી.
કેટલીયે બહેનોને આજે એમના ઘરવાળા કે જે વ્યસની છે તેઓ માર મારશે કે બીજી રીતે હેરાન કરશે. પણ તેમણે કહ્યું, જે થાય તે હવે સહન નથી થતું બસ બધુ બદલવું છે...ડર્યા વગર ઘરવાળાનો વિરોધ સહન કરીને પણ બહાર આવેલી બહેનોને પ્રણામ..

મધુબહેન અમારા પાયાના કાર્યકર મને કહે બેન મને ઓછુ નથી ખપતુ આપણે હજુ બીજી વસાહતોમાં દારૃ ગાંજો બંધ થાય તે માટે લડીશું. આપણી આ વાદળી સાથે ગુલાબી ગેંગ બરાબર તૈયાર થઈ જાય પછી અમદાવાદના વિચરતી જાતિઓની અન્ય વસાહતોમાં આ બધુ બંધ કરાવીશું..
થાક્યા વગર કામ કરનાર મધુબહેનની જીગરને સલામ કરવા પડે..

આવતા અઠવાડિયે પાછો કાર્યક્રમ કરીશું. એક દબાણ કાયમ રહેશે તો આ બધુ બંધ થવાનું એ નક્કી...
