The police department chooses to be a friend in need for the nomadic women of Ramdevnagar

In a meeting with Additional Commissioner of Police Shri Amit Vishwakarma  and DCP Shri K. N. Damor there was an elaborate discussion on ways to tackle the rampant spread of alcohol and drugs in the Ramdevnagar settlement.

“Saheb, for the first time in life my husband and son handed me their day’s income. All this while,  it is my income that brought food on our plates.  Today was one of the happiest day of my life,” shared  an emotional  Lakshmben  who has lost her son to alcohol after he mistook acid for alcohol while  her husband and another son continue to remain severely  addicted to this demon.

After the public demonstration, police personnel  have been taking rounds of the settlement, as a result the women  there are experiencing peace they have had forgotten since long. This and other such positive impacts they are experiencing because of the presence of the police were shared by the women with so much  joy in their voice. ‘It’s not just our men, we also fear the khakhi dressed men,’ they said. The police officials asked them not to fear the police and remain assured that the police is with them.

Jivi shared, “Saheb, my two brothers create a havoc every day after getting drunk. We all work hard to bring some money home. The situation back home was always frustrating. However, since yesterday they haven’t touched alcohol. For the first time they sat with us for dinner and the atmosphere at home was happy and cheerful.”

“DCP Saheb, please  send police to our settlement four times a day. We are extremely grateful to you. Yesterday we all had a peaceful sleep otherwise, every night there would be fight at some or other’s home….” The women went on and on, as  they had too many happy moments to be shared. The DCP assured they will definitely experience such peace every night.

We are extremely grateful to the police department  for the support.

These brave women of Ramdevnagar will now initiate to find alternate livelihoods for men of their settlement  who have been involved in trading alcohol and drugs. VSSM is all prepared to support them with this initiative.

We salute the police for their support that has reinforced our faith in them.

પોલીસ મિત્ર બની રામદેવગનરની બહેનોની વાહરે આવી.

આજે એડીશનલ કમીશનર ઓફ પોલીસ શ્રી અમીત વિશ્વકર્મા અને ડીસીપી શ્રી કે એન.ડામોર સાથે એક બેઠક થઈ.

રામદવેગરમાંથી દારૃ અને ગાંજાના દુષણને દુર કરવા શું કરવું ક્યા પગલાં લઈ શકાય તેની વિસ્તારથી વાત થઈ.

પોલીસ બે દિવસથી વસાહતમાં ફરી રહી છે જેનાથી બહેનોને નિરાંત થઈ છે.

આજે સાંજે બહેનોને મળવા - સાંભળવા અને ખાસ કરીને અમે તમારી સાથે છીએ તેવું કહેવા ડીસીપી તેમની વચ્ચે આવ્યા અને બહેનોએ તેમની બધી મૂંઝવણ અને બે દિવસથી રામદેવનગરમાં પોલીસના ફરવાથી શું ફેર પડ્યો છે તેની વાત હરખા હરખાતા કહી.

ખાખી વરદીનો થોડો ડર લાગે છે તેવું પણ તેમણે કહ્યું અને ડીસીપીએ જરાય ડરવાની જરૃર નથી અમે છીએ સાથે તેવું પણ કહ્યું.

લક્ષ્મીબહેન કે જેનો જુવાન દીકરો નશામાં એસીડને દારૃ સમજીને પી ગયો હતો અને મૃત્યુને ભેટ્યો હતો, તેમનો બીજો દિકરો અને પતિ દારૃ પીવે છે એમણે ડીસીપી સમક્ષ પોતાની લાગણી વ્યક્ત કરતા કહ્યું,

સાહેબ જીંદગીમાં પહેલીવાર મારા -ઘરવાળાએ અને મારા દિકરાએ આજે જે કમાઈને આવ્યા એ મારા હાથમાં આપ્યા. બાકી હું જ એમને ખરાવું છું. મું બહુ રાજી છું. તો જીવીએ કહ્યું, સાહેબ મારા બે ભાઈઓ પીને એવી ધમાલ કરે મારી મા અને અમે બધા મજુરી કરીએ એમનાથી ત્રાસી ગયાતા. પણ કાલથી એણે દારૃને હાથ નથી લગાડ્યો. અમારી સાથે પહેલીવાર સાંજે ભેગા બેસી એણે ખાધુ. બહુ હારુ લાગે સે.

ડીસીપી સાહેબ અમારી વસાહતમાં દરરોજ ચાર ફેરા પોલીસ મોકલજો. સાહેબ અમે તમારા આભારી સીએ. કાલ અમે નિરાંતે ઊંધી હક્યા નહીંતો રાતના ચાર વાગ્યા હુદી આખી વસાહતમાં કોકના ન કોકના ઘેર ધમાલ ચાલતી જ હોય...

થાક્યા વગર બહેનો અવીરત બોલે જ જતી હતી. ડીસીપીએ એમને તમે રોજ નિરાંતે સુઈ શકશો તેવું કરી આપવાની ખાત્રી આપી.

હવે જે લોકો દારૃ ગાંજાનો વેપાર કરતા તેમને સમજાવી તેમને નવા ધંધા તરફ વાળવાની અમારી બહેનો પહેલ કરશે.. VSSM તો આ માટે તૈયાર જ છે...
