Sharing the joy of double good news…
The efforts of
VSSM began in 2013 bring much needed revisions, grateful to the government for finally bringing in the change…
The revisions will ease the challenges nomadic communities faced to obtain caste certificates.
One of the pre-requisite to obtaining the caste certificate is the applicant requires to attach a copy of father’s school leaving certificate. Most of the nomadic communities have never been to school in fact, their children are first generation school goers. So how can they provide father’s school leaving certificate?

Based on our learnings from the experience of working with these communities we have given numerous recommendations to the government to modify the current set of rules and cross check the applications by their language, costumes, visit to their settlement etc. Since more than 4 years, we have been constantly writing to the policymakers regarding the challenges it poses and the immediate need to modify the list of pre-requisites. The samples of some firm and some humble letters are in the pictures here. As a result of these letters and our numerous rounds to Gandhinagar, the list of documents required to obtain
caste certificates has been removed. A ruling has been issued to verify the application by the recommendations we have made. We are delighted at this development and are thankful to the government.
The second development is about the need to modify the age old official list of the nomadic communities. This too has been heard and the government has included the new equivalents to some of the communities that are known differently in different parts of Gujarat.
The new list will be including the following equivalents to the original community names...

Nath – Bharthari, Nathbawa, Marwadi
Vaghri- Bawari, Marwada
Vadee, Jogi Vadee, Madaree
Gadaliya – Gadi Luhariya, Luhariya,
Ravaliya – Raval, Raval Yogi (remove the term Ravaliya which is used in a derogatory manner)
Bhavaiya- Targala, Bhavaya, Nayak, Bhojak
Bajaniyaa- Bazigar, Nat, Natda
Vanzara Shinagwala, Kangsiwala now has inclusion of Vanzara as well.
There are a few that still remain and we will be pursuing the matter with the government until that too is achieved. The ones remaining are
Oad – Oad Muslim, Beldar Muslim
Kangasiya – Mal and Gawariya
Vadee _ FulVadee
Vaghri – Devipujak, Dataniya Vaghri/Devipujak, Vedva or Vedva Devipujak (because in Gujarat the term Vaghri is used in derogatory manner)
And inclusion of the following communities …
Meer Barot, Meer, Fakir.

While this need to be done we are grateful to the government for the new regulations it has issued.

vssmના પ્રયત્નો રંગ લાવ્યા... 2013થી સતત લખ્યા કર્યાનું ફળ્યું મળ્યું..... સરકારનો આભાર....
વિચરતી જાતિઓને #જાતિ_પ્રમાણપત્ર મેળવવા પડતી તકલીફને સરકારે હળવી કરી.
વિચરતી વિમુક્ત જાતિનું પ્રમાણપત્ર મેળવવા જે તે વ્યક્તિએ પોતાના પિતાનું શાળા છોડ્યાનું #પ્રમાણપત્ર અરજી સાથે જોડવું પડે. પરંતુ, #વિચરતી #વિમુક્ત જાતિઓમાંથી ઘણી જાતિઓની આ પહેલીપેઢી છે જે હવે નિશાળમાં જઈ રહી છે. આવામાં પિતાનું શાળા છોડ્યાનું પ્રમાણપત્ર ક્યાંથી લાવવું?

#પહેરવેશ, #બોલી વસાહતની મુલાકાત વગેરે ચકાસણી કરીને પ્રમાણપત્ર આપવાની આપણી માંગણી. ને આ માંગણીને લઈને કાંઈ કેટલાય કડક પત્ર અહીંયા એક નમુનારૃપ મુક્યો છે એવા લખ્યા. આવા પત્રો ને ગાંધીનગરના કાંઈ કેટલાય ધક્કાના પરિણામ સ્વરૃપ જાતિ પ્રમાણપત્ર મેળવવા જોઈતા અઘરા પુરાવા હવે નીકળી ગયા. આપણી માંગણી પ્રમાણે ચકાસણી કરીને પ્રમાણપત્ર આપવાનો ઠરાવ થયો... હરખને #સરકારનો આભારેય....
વિચરતી વિમુક્ત જાતિઓમાંથી કેટલીક જાતિઓની સ્પષ્ટતા કરવાની પણ આપણી રજૂઆતો હતી આ રજૂઆતો પણ સંભળાઈને ઘણી જાતિઓમાં પર્યાય ઉમેરાયા. #નાથના પર્યાય તરીકે #ભરથરી, #નાથબાવા,
#મારવાડી વાઘરીના પર્યાય તરીકે #બાવરી, #મારવાડા, #વાદીના પર્યાય તરીકે જોગીવાદી અને #મદારી, #ગાડલિયાના પર્યાય તરીકે ગાડી લુહારિયા, લુવારિયા, લુહારીયા, રાવળિયાના પર્યાય તરીકે #રાવળ, રાવળ યોગી(જોકે રાવળિયા શબ્દ જ કાઢી નાખવાની વાત મુખ્ય છે. એ અપમાનજનક શબ્દ છે. જે સદંતર નીકળી જાય તે માટે પણ આપણે લખીશું) ભવૈયાના પર્યાય તરીકે #તરગાળા, #ભવાયા, નાયક, ભોજક, #બજાણિયાના પર્યાય તરીકે બાજીગર, #નટ, બજાણિયા, નટ, નટડા વણઝારા શિનાંગવાળા કાંગસિવાળાની જગ્યાએ #વણઝારાનો ઉમેરો થયો. ફરીથી આનંદને આભારની લાગણી....

હજુ કેટલુંક બાકી છે જેમાં મુખ્યત્વે ઓડના પર્યાય તરીકે #ઓડ મુસ્લિમ અને #બેલદાર મુસ્લિમનો સમાવેશ, કાંગસિયાના પર્યાય તરીકે મલ અને ગવારિયાનો સમાવેશ, વાદીના પર્યાય તરીકે ફુલવાદી, વાઘરી(અપમાનજનક શબ્દ હોવાના કારણે તેના) પર્યાય તરીકે #દેવીપૂજક, દાતણિયા વાઘરી(દેવીપૂજક) વેડવા કે વેળવા દેવીપૂજક વગેરે પર્યાય તરીકે અને વિચરતી જાતિઓની યાદીમાં #મીર બારોટ, મીર અને #ફકીરનો સમાવેશ કરવાનું મુખ્ય છે. આ કામ થાય તે માટે પણ સતત લખ્યા કરીશું.
પણ જે થયું છે તેનો હરખ વ્યકત કરીએ છીએ... ને સરકારનો આભાર સૌ જાતિઓ વતી માનીએ છીએ...
સરકારે કરેલો જાતિઓની સ્પષ્ટતા તથા જાતિ પ્રમાણપત્ર સરળતાથી મળે તે માટેનો ઠરાવ.
Vssm દ્વારા ઉપરોક્ત મુદ્દે લખાયેલા ઠગલો પત્રોમાંથી નમુનારૃપ પત્રો ને જેમનો રાવણહથ્થો હાથમાં લઈને ભરથરી અને તમારા જેવા જ અન્ય સમાજોના નામ સરકારી ચોપડે ચડશે તેવી ખાત્રી આપી હતી તે ભરથરી દાદા સાથે...
